Such a fun spot in Dallas! Especially if you are into retro, vintage vibes. The ambience and decor make you feel like you are in a train car - cozy and nostalgic. Great place to enjoy drinks with friends. They have a solid happy hour, especially their espresso martini. Their bar bites are also surprisingly good, making it easy to settle in for more than just one drink. Service is friendly, welcoming and efficient. If you are looking for a unique bar with great cocktails, this place is worth checking out.

What a hidden gem. Small but mighty. Great drinks with happy hour till 8 (now we're talking) Bartender did a great job making cocktails and the food menu is small, but fierce. Music is bluesyyyy, low light, speakeasy vibe.

My partner & I had great drinks (Expresso martini) plus a delicious food item (French onion dip subs & meatball appetizer). The service is great! Friendly bartender. Just confused why they would be out of Crown Royal on a Friday??Also, place is VERY tight! Be prepare to be standing around for a while waiting on a seat if you can even find one after 8:30pm. Still a very neat space & glad we got to enjoy our date together. Not sure if we'll be returning...unless we decide to drink around 6pm?

Great little cocktail bar. Right now for the holidays it's like TrainCar themed/polar express. Very fun and festive. Drinks are pricey but that's Dallas. Super fun !

Ambiance was nice. They did an excellent job of maximizing a small space into a beautiful place to be. This is primarily a bar with a few really nice things to eat on the menu. The walls are lined with monitors/tvs simulating scenery passing by as you ride the train. The stools have extra wide seats for comfort and balance. You will need it because those $17 Christmas drinks will knock you off your seat. They are loaded with alcohol but very tasty. We tried the beignets. My goodness! I've had beignets at no less than 4 places in New Orleans, and these had them all neat!! They were lightly powdered and paired with caramel syrup. They were so light; they melted into your mouth. I would go back to try something new but would definitely get the beignets again. We went on a Tuesday night. I can only imagine there is limited space on the weekend. The place is easy to miss and has parking in the front and back.

Nice and cute intimate area. They have a kitchen also if you are interested in food. Drinks were good. Cool concept. Service was quick. I ordered the demonico cocktail and it was a trippy experience for me because it felt like I was drinking pho since they have the cardamon ingredient in there.

SUPER COOL SPOT!!! Loved the setup! Very original! Nothing like it in Dallas. The customer service was exceptional. The drink was made to perfection . Minimal parking but still not too bad. Drinks are a bit pricey but worth it! The inside is so cool!

as everyone's been saying, such a unique, cozy, and classy spot. they do a great job of not making you feel cramped despite how small the bar actually is. we ordered drinks off the christmas menu and were pleasantly surprised by how light they were... still got flavor without the excessive amounts of syrup or cream other places tend to give !! there was one waitress covering the whole floor who was so friendly and sweet. i WILL say... they could've went a little bit harder on the polar express theme given the upper price range ($17-18). I'm dreaming of views from the movie, white tablecloths, golden tickets, conductor hats for the staff. but such a lovely space!!

I'm on the fence about this place. When you first walk in, you're met with screens showing images of train scenes, creating a boxcar-like vibe. Beyond the decor, I'm still trying to see what sets this bar apart from others in the area. I guess it really depends on the crowd you're looking to drink with. I initially wanted a shot and a beer, but their only mezcal was Illegal, and they didn't offer Lalo or a comparable tequila. I ended up with a Hendrick's gin and tonic, which was noticeably weaker than what I'd get in Bishop Arts. For appetizers, we ordered the cheese crostinis, which were enough for our group of five, though nothing special--something you could make at home in about 15 minutes. I also tried the black truffle tater tots, which I'd return for. On a 5-point scale: * Experience: 3 * Drinks: 1 * Food: 3 Overall, that averages to about 3 stars.

Finally had a chance to check this place out, and it did not disappoint at all. It was a little difficult to find, but they do have a small lot that they share with a restaurant that is right on the corner, blink, and you will miss it. There is a velvet rope outside, so that's one way to find it. Once inside, it's a very quaint and dimly lit bar and very much themed to feel like you are inside of a train. They even have go toilet, which I thought was a pretty classy touch. The TV screens are draped with gold curtains, and I'm not sure if it changes in scenery daily, but we were in Tokyo when I went, lol. We ordered the Wagyu pastrami dip sandwich, and I would say that was my favorite savory dish. It was tender. The bread was perfect, and I could've drank the dip by itself. We also had the meatballs, which were also amazing and perfect for sharing. The beignets were probably the star of the show because of the perfect balance of crispy flaky crust on the outside and doughy gooey texture on the inside. 10 out of 10 for the food by itself. We tried quite a few drinks and I definitely love their espresso martini, it's a little sweet for my taste, but I would order it again. It's very nice and it's one of those places you could get a little fancy for but considering lower Greenville has such a chill vibe, there's no pressure to show up Instagram ready Very nice environment to bring your friends and catch up or rent out for a small event. Easily one of my favorite bars I have visited in Dallas so far.

It's a secret y'all! Leave some for me next time I come in!

Food: We came here after dinner, and had the beignets and they were delightful! Service: Outstanding service! Carlos welcomed us and Jesus was our bartender and he was knowledgeable with a new liqueur I had never heard of and made some recommendations to me and I've now got a new favorite drink!! Always fun when a bartender knows their stuff and can help guide you! Ambiance: I mean, is there anything like this around!? What a cool concept!! The vibe is chill as soon as you come in, but the tunes are great, and the occasional swing of the chandeliers gives the ambiance that you're really dining in a boxcar! Overall, 5 stars. However it was hard to find initially, and before going in that was a small irritation. After leaving, I'm glad because it feels like a new best kept secret!! Nobody needs to be stealing my new favorite drink since it's so hard to come by!! lol Thanks for a great evening, guys!

You have to checkout a new bar in Dallas called Boxcar. It is such a creative, cute bar! Don't let the outside fool you. This place is enchanting. The inside makes you feel like you are riding in a boxcar. The owners are great! They have a very friendly staff. The bar is small and intimate. It is definitely a great place to meet friends and enjoy a magical experience. Their cocktails are unique! Highly recommend that you check it out. I haven't tried their food yet, but it looks just as good as the drinks. Also, the bathrooms were clean and had some fun wallpaper.

    Parm tots

Beautiful inside. Food really good. French dip with pastrami was surprisingly good. The tots were divine. The service was great. The only thing I didn't like was I didn't get another drink under the happy hour time . The waiter was no where to be found before the time.

    Ask the Community - Boxcar

How do I make a reservation?

    I believe it's walk in only !

My friend and I are planning on coming to the bar, but she has her two year-old with her?

My opinion probably not a good idea................. but call the BOXCAR for a valid answer.....

That's the whole thing. French discipline, Texas spirit, six syllables, no further explanation offered or required, and if you do not immediately understand exactly what that means the moment you walk into The Joule on Main Street then I do not know what to tell you except that the rosemary tallow fries are going to clarify things very quickly. CBD Provisions opened in 2013 as the Joule Hotel's in-house restaurant, became famous for a crispy pig's head carnitas that required you to pull strips of meat off an actual half pig's head at the table and tuck them into tortillas, which is a dish so committed to its own bit that it belongs in a museum, and then closed in July 2025 for a months-long renovation that brought in new culinary director Sezer Deniz. Deniz trained under Chef Jean Paul Naquin at the Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon, France. He has twenty-plus years in Michelin-starred kitchens including Alinea in Chicago. He is now making breakfast tacos inside a hotel in downtown Dallas and I want to be very clear that this is a promotion. The room has exposed brick and wood floors and steel beams and mosaic tile and antique mirrors and railcar booth seating and a center banquette and stone tabletops, all of which sounds like it should be competing with itself but instead produces the specific feeling of a place that has been here long enough to know what it is. I sat at the bar, which is the correct place to sit, and ordered the short rib corn cake stack, which is braised short rib and avocado and two poached eggs and a poblano hollandaise and which arrives looking like the cover of a cookbook that does not exist but absolutely should. The poblano hollandaise is the detail I keep returning to. Not regular hollandaise. Poblano hollandaise. Someone in that kitchen made a decision to take a classical French sauce with two centuries of culinary tradition behind it and introduce it to a pepper from Puebla, Mexico, and what resulted is something that makes you look at regular hollandaise and think, you had potential, you just never reached it. I ate the entire thing and then contemplated ordering another one and then did not because I am a person with limits, technically. The CBD Provisions burger is a double smash with American cheese and grilled onion and house pickles and something called fancy sauce, which is a name I respect enormously because it is not pretending to be anything other than exactly what it is. It comes with rosemary tallow fries, which are the reason I will order this burger every time I come here for the rest of my life. Rosemary. Tallow. Fries. Three words that in combination produce something that should be legally classified as a controlled substance. French in method, Texan in manner. Boots and a brasserie. The Joule has been on Main Street for years and CBD Provisions has been feeding people inside it for over a decade, new chef and new tile floors notwithstanding, and it has figured out the thing that most hotel restaurants never figure out, which is that the goal is not to remind you that you are eating in a hotel. The goal is to make you forget entirely. I forgot entirely. The tallow fries helped.
