I had the best ER experience of my life today. From the moment I walked in, they immediately took me back and got me into a room for my concerns. Every single staff member I encountered was friendly, compassionate, and professional. Having to go to the ER can be a traumatizing experience because you are already worried about what is going on with yourself. This ER made sure I was tended to with the utmost care and compassion, which made all the difference. Dr. Sherry and Nurse Jackie were absolutely incredible. They were attentive, patient, and never once dismissive of my worries. They took the time to really talk with me, understand my history, and explain everything thoroughly. That level of care and communication is rare and so appreciated. Even though The Heights Emergency Room is a stand-alone ER not tied to a big hospital network, they are impressively well equipped. Their rooms are spacious, comfortable, and as clean as any hospital ER I have ever seen. They also have the equipment to test for a wide range of issues on site, and my labs were drawn and processed right there with results coming back quickly. That kind of efficiency gave me real peace of mind. Since I was there most of the day, they even arranged Chick-fil-A for me, which was such a thoughtful and personal touch. It really made me feel cared for as a person, not just a patient. After a very negative past experience at another hospital, this visit was a complete 180. I will absolutely be coming back here for any and all emergency needs in the future. Hands down, this was the best ER experience I have ever had. read more

I visited this urgent care at about 0300 today due to having an allergic reaction. I was itching, with visible redness & hives all over arms, legs, face, & ears. Although the itching & hives were annoying, I became increasingly concerned because my lips started to swell, which could potentially compromise my airway. The problem came when the young lady at the front desk was unable to verify my insurance. I provided her the front/back of the card, she was still unable to verify it. Ok. So instead of calling someone that could maybe assist her, she totally dismissed my concerns because she thought I didn't have insurance. Gave me a sheet of paper, with highlighted info of another urgent care facility about 12 minutes away. Absurd. Whenever I am having an issue and need to be seen urgently, I never mention that I am a board certified NP & for the last 14 years, was a RN in the acute care setting. This could have totally went left for me. I thank God I was spared for at least 12 mins to go to another facility, but bottom line, my airway was compromised due to angioedema (facial swelling). I would strongly encourage the management team to use this opportunity to educate this young lady and other staff working at the front desk. Not only did she cost the company money/business, she could cost someone their life due to her incompetence. I called a few hours later, as I knew there'd more than likely be someone else working the front desk. Jennifer verified my insurance in less than 2 minutes. She was very helpful & I truly appreciate that. I will be reaching out again to upper management and escalating this concern. read more

I offered to help my daughter pay for her baby son to be seen. She told me that it was 150.00, so that's what I sent her, but she was actually charged 350.00 instead! I know it matters when someone relies on false information and then makes a decision to receive services based on that false information. No special work or tests were added to increase the charge at all. The facility now says that it costs 350.00 to see a minor and 150.00 for an adult. And if a minor has a fever of 105 and a cold, or a nasal virus, they do not perform a COVID test even with the fee so high! read more

Interestingly enough, got great care, no wait, all covered by insurance, when under 65. But once you hit 65 and are on Medicare as primary ( which everyone is), they will not take you. No matter how good your supplemental insurance is. My body was swelling up as that girl told me they require $2500 up front to be seen. The remaining balance will then be billed to you at a later date, usually within 2-3 weeks." Just so everybody is aware... the remaining balance that will be billed at a later date is $2,000 just for walking in the door plus whatever else they did for you. My son had a COLD and they did nothing other than give him some Motrin which I could've done at home. Absolutely insane. Go somewhere else if you don't have insurance. read more

COVID 19 testing review: This place is charging $1000 to those without insurance. And I just got the bill they sent to my insurance and its for $2500! Dear lord. I was in that place for 20 minutes. All other rapid results testing centers in Houston are charging $175. Somehow this clinic thinks by saying 'we're not a rapid COVID testing center', they are justifying the price gouging. Pretty sure nobody's business model was 'COVID testing center' prior to 2020. This health care facility, like many others, feels like a used car dealership, with used car salesmen on the staff. Please go somewhere else for a likely shorter/equal wait time, and the frequently seen price of $175, all across Houston. Also note that The Heights Emergency Room is "not contracted with any specific commercial insurance providers and is considered an out of network provider." Their words. Yikes. This has implications for your costs even if you do have insurance. Go somewhere else. read more

This is a new Emergency Room next door to Whole Foods 365 at Yale and Interstate 610 on the north side of Houston serving the Houston Heights and surrounding area. Easy parking, no wait, all new digital x-ray, ultrasound and CT scans. They have a complete Lab with same day results. They have board Certified Emergency Medicine physicians and they treat pediatrics. They have almost 400 medications on site to care for their patients. They are open 24 hours a day. There is no wait they take you straight back in the room and start treatment. This is a wonderful new resource for the Houston Heights. read more

I was involved in a car accident that required medical attention, not only did the Nurse Janice make me feel at home but she completely understood my anxiety. Dr Mendoza was so caring and soft spoken, he listened to all of my concerns and did not rush through my exam. The facility was very clean and the receptionist helped me fill out my insurance information. I appreciate their kind words and ability to address my anxiousness and past trauma that was reignited through the car accident. I highly recommend the emergency room for their bed side manners. We are lucky to have a wonderful emergency room in such close proximity to our home. read more

10 STARS!! A first class facility staffed with caring professionals. Everyone associated with the facility is compassionate and treat you like family. There was no wait and we were taken into the treatment area immediately. The facility is brand new. The nurses know their duties and spend time getting to know the patient and family, great personalities, make the patient feel at ease. When it's time to place a IV; no mistakes in getting it in there the first time with minimal discomfort, and that is something to be said. They offer snacks, coffee and water as well as other amenities to the waiting family to make them comfortable during the treatment process. The MD's are phenomenal, they actually spend time with the patient and get to know them as a person. The entire experience reminds me of the old days of having a "family doctor" and not just a medical provider. My highest recommendation and kudos to a community oriented emergency room! read more

Dr. Mendoza and staff were excellent. I stopped in at The Heights ER on my way to a larger hospital ER...I was taken back to be triaged within minutes and the care I received was top notch. I was able to have lab work and CT of abdomen and pelvis done on sight, results were given in a very timely fashion. Dr. Mendoza took the time to explain everything and answered any questions that I had. I would 100% recommend choosing this ER or one of it's other locations should the need arise. read more

Came in the room washed his hands & walked out, saying I'll be right back. Hmm, that was yesterday, I'm at home, so I'm not sure when he plans on coming back. What I'm saying is he never came back, never had a conversation with me, never examined me or anything else. Words will not do justice to this facility. Of course late night is when you can't sleep and are worried that you have Covid. With a family around all the time and a managing a workforce always puts you in arms way. I arrived at the ER and was greeted within seconds. Pleasant and answered all my questions. The receptionist at the front offered a little chatting about how Christmas was close and it helped calm my nerves of getting a swab stuck up my nose. After 3 min I was taken to back. Nurses were calming as well. Very professional and listened intently with all my symptoms. Dr Diaz came in soon after to discuss with me the plan of tests he was going to do and how fast results would be. Number one thing here is how they kept me calm the whole time when I was obviously nervous about getting tested. Within 15 min doc came back with results and answered all the questions I had. I will certainly be back to this location in a heart beat for any medical needs I have. 5 stars! Thank all for your help this evening. read more

This is the place to go for emergency care. Upon testing positive for COVID and being high risk I did not want to take my chances at home waiting to see how sick I was going to be. I went straight to this ER and received the latest recommended course of therapy. Everyone was warm, welcoming and caring. Larry my nurse was attentive and calming. This facility was equipped to rapidly scan my lungs, do labs and treat me with breakthrough therapies. I believe they may have saved my life. I was seen here recently for low back and neck pain. Location is really easy to get to and I was taken back right away. Dr. Kim was very thorough in his exam and gave me trigger point injections to relieve my pain. I feel so much better! Thanks to all the awesome staff that work at this great new facility! read more

This is the WORST place to ever go for any emergency/ urgency. I took my daughter here and they had me waiting in a room for 4 hours before they even helped her with anything. Then after they had us waiting one of the nurses came into the room and tried to draw blood from my daughter and since blood wasn't coming out she used something to try and suck blood out which just made my daughter cry even more. Im not sure if she poked her in the wrong place and missed the vein or what im not sure. ALSO the doctor is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. HE TOOK OFF HIS FACE MASK TO SPEAK TO ME. What kind of doctor does that during a pandemic????? We went in at around 11pm and left around 5:30 am and my daughter was not helped in any way. If anything she was worse because the nurse inserted a needle where she was not supposed to. I am almost 100% sure that the Doctor doesn't get to this place until 5am. If this is an "Emergency Room" they should have a doctor there at all hours and that was not the case here. I eneded up taking my daughter to Texas Childrens where they did take care of her. She didn't even need blood drawn! I WILL NEVER IN MY LIFE RETURN TO THIS PLACE. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. read more
