We used to love it here when it first opened. Now it seems like only a couple of stalls are open at a time, leaving little options for a food hall. We ordered from the deli stand which always has great food. We used the QR code to order and ordered a couple of sandwiches and the fried mozzarella. We were then told a few minutes later they had no fried mozzarella and could offer us fries. We were not interested in fries and asked about a refund which was not an option. We want to see this place succeed and are hoping this was just a one-off worse experience! read more

We've been eagerly awaiting the opening of this food hall, and it did not disappoint. Great food options, fun and stylish decor, and super convenient. I especially loved being able to order by QR code from the table -- lunch orders from five different places to accommodate my picky kids, delivered swiftly to our table, and all on one bill! I'm sold. DC Dosa and Doki Doki are parental favorites - the cold sesame noodles are amazing. But the kids always want gyoza from Sky Lantern, a side of mac n cheese from Supreme BBQ, and mango bubble tea from Aunteaboba. No meal ends without ice cream, and the Mimi's owner was especially sweet and so generous to the kids with sample tastes. We will certainly be back to try the other places and the anchor restaurant. The tables can get crowded quickly at peak times, but luckily there's patio seating that will come in handy for the summer. The bathrooms were surprisingly small and couldn't accommodate a changing table, but it's otherwise family friendly. It's also not a cheap meal, but it's a nicer place with great service so I rather expected it. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

I paid $18 for "the gobbler" from the deli stall. This sandwich is supposed to have "crispy pork belly" along with turkey and avocado. Guess what was NOT on the sandwich? The pork belly. So I paid $18 for a shitty sandwich made up of soggy white bread ("Texas toast") and a handful of cheap turkey lunchmeat. This place is clearly a scam and now I know why there were only 2 customers in this food hall. Half the stalls are also empty. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. Giving 2 stars because at least I did receive a sandwich, even if it was overpriced and missing the key ingredient. read more

This is a brand new trendy foodcourt in the Friendship Heights neighborhood, opened on Dec 11, less than a month ago. It's located right above Whole Foods in the former PF Chang space. There is a full service restaurant, two bars and over half dozen food stalls. Seating seems to be a bit tight and limited as the indoor space is not very big and overall a bit dark - come warmer weather things'll be better as there are a lot more tables outdoors on the upper level patio. Today we tried Saoco Cuban Eats and Sky Lanterns. The Cuban sandwich was quite tasty and the spring rolls and fried dumplings at Sky Lanterns pretty good as well. Altogether for one Sandwich, 2 apps and one drink it came to about $40, not cheap as food courts go. There is wifi but they don't seem to validate parking - for that you have to go to Whole Foods. read more

So excited for this food hall to finally be open!!! There is a fantastic mix of cuisine and a large bar to sit and enjoy a beverage after work. Went with two coworkers for cocktails at 6:00pm and they still have Happy Hour until 7:00pm! Kimberly was our waitress and she was excellent! I asked her to make me a surprise drink with tequila and she came up with a delicious drink that didn't take me long to suck down! I really hope this takes off and more young professionals come to hang out in the area. Doki Doki Sushi and Saoco Cuban Eats are Five Stars! Super depressing- very few kiosks remain open. Looks like a ghost town inside. What a shame.

I want to like this place but the quality of food and service has gone down since opening. I went there on a Sunday and almost every person at each food stall was just staring down at their phones. I got the burger there and it looked nothing like the photos online and it was as average as it could get. I hope someone from the heights reads this and makes some improvements, including having different restaurants/food stalls there. read more

The food here used to be really good, but on my most recent visit, almost every stall has been closed. When I visited today, a Thursday at 2pm, only 2 of the 8 stalls were open. I just don't see how they can have a sustainable business when they're frequently closed or have strange hours. read more

I asked for a half a pound of lean brisket. They did not understand the word lean. I had them cut off the 1 inch strips of fat, then asked The places selling chili what the seven chilies in the chili were and he did not know, Then asked if anyone had been overwhelmed by the spicy heat of the chili, The Young man seating people had no idea. I will wait and read reviews. They don't answer their phone. It would be nice to know how to get there from the Whole Foods parking lot without going Around outside? read more

We walked through the new Food Hall on our way to and from dinner at Urbano. We checked out all of the menus and are psyched to go back to try them! We did get a taiyaki cone with matcha soft-serve ice cream from Mimi's that was great (and very photogenic)! There's a pretty large bar with seating at the front of the Hall. We're thinking about going back so that we can each get whatever genre of food we want and then sit at the bar to watch a game. read more

The atmosphere is nice! Lively, but loud. At 7:30pm on a Saturday, the seating was limited but we managed to find a table. Super convenient that you can scan a QR code on the table and order. Then the food is brought to you! Sky Lantern is where we ended up ordering from (although you can order from multiple stands at once). The shrimp dumplings were good ($8) and the salmon bowl ($16) was alright. Some of the brown rice in the salmon bowl was undercooked and the serving was small and the bowl lacked in flavor overall. The service was quick and everyone is very kind. There's self serve water stations. Final takeaways are that it is expensive for the quality of food and the experience, but there are tons of options available no matter your craving or dietary restrictions. read more

This review is directed towards AunTea Boba. I ordered a tea with brown sugar boba. The boba tasted like jelly, definitely not boba. When I asked about it, the person who made the drink was pretty rude. As someone who drank boba tea growing up, I can assure you it's not boba. I then showed the boba to the owner of Mimi's soft serve and she agreed with me. She said she was going to make me a new one. She went over and checked the package, and told me that the boba seemed to be precooked in Taiwan and sat in sugar water. Not sure if that's the reason the consistency was way off. She was nice enough to offer me a refund, but I didn't take it. I was really looking forward to a bubble tea place in our neighborhood, but I was absolutely disappointed. 0 star for AunTea Boba, 5 stars for Mimi's soft serve. read more

I was so excited to try this new nearby food hall but a bit hit or miss. Tried Yasmine (1 star), DC Dosa (4 stars), and Mimi's soft serve (3 stars). Fun atmosphere when you walk in but can I ask, why are all the indoor seating crammed into a small section? I was terrified I'd elbow someone in the face when I tried to take off my coat. The baba ganoush at Yasmine's was too salty and had no smoky flavor. Also I asked to sub in veg instead of the lavash (which it offers on its menu plainly) and I was charged an extra $4.50. :( Why did I just pay $12 for baba ganoush and some cucumbers and cabbage bits? The woman at the counter was very new and flustered so I just let it go. But I am definitely not going back. DC Dosa was tasty. Got the sada dosa (white lentil) with potatoes and eggplant. It was crispy and flavorful, and I really liked the coconut chutney and onion tamarind sauce. Only downfall was it took over 25 minutes for it to come out, I had to go and ask for it. On the way out, I stopped by Mimi's to get a taiyaki with match soft serve. I really wanted to try another flavor but they're currently only selling matcha and vanilla. The soft serve was smooth and a nice balance of matcha. The taiyaki cone disappointed--cold, too hard. Maybe should keep them in a warmer? Or I would happily wait extra time for a fresh taikyaki, FYI powers-that-be! read more

1) Ambience - not sure what is wrong with the interior design. It is cramped and dark, in a cheap and haphazard way. The plants/ flower wall without lighting further sucked in light making the whole place darker. maybe they didn't want people to linger. 2) Food- It is hit or miss between and within stalls. Doki Doki has consistently tasty and pretty options (liked Red Dragon Specialty rolls, Dumplings). Sky Lantern's Drunken noodles with slow cooked beef Is amazing, so is their fried chicken. Yasmine's lamb Kabob is outstanding. Need to try more offerings This place has great potential as each store adds and optimizes offerings. Love the Heights! Very clean, well run operation in a cheerful space. Great range of options and everything I've tried has been good.

Eating at the heights was a good experience overall. They bring a good variety of dining options to the Friendship Heights area and will be especially nice for takeout! I was really excited for the taiyaki ice cream cones from Mimi's handmade ice cream. However, similar to how some other customers felt, I thought the expectation vs. the reality of what you get doesn't align. For $10, there was not a lot of ice cream at all, and the taiyaki cone was not warmed up. There are many taiyaki/soft serve spots around the DMV that offer great portions and many additional flavors of soft serve. I would recommend that the team offer a bigger serving of ice cream in the taiyaki cone/ make the cones bigger to hold more ice cream, add additional soft serve flavors to the menu, and even warm up the cones beforehand or make them fresh on the spot. I would love to see them succeed so hoping they will make some of these improvements in the near future! I also ate at Doki Doki, which does an amazing job! Great quality sushi! read more

If 2.5 starts was a choice that would be my rating. I live close by so have been 3 times with various family members. Each visit was about a month apart. My most recent visit was Friday night Feb 8th. My clothes, especially my coat, were saturated with the smell of cooking fat and still smelled the next day. Unless they do something about the ventilation l will just be going in warmer weather to eat outside from now on. I wish the payment machines had a suggested tip value starting at 10%, but it's 15/20/25%. Those are steep suggested tips for a food court. Yes l do feel obligated to pay the minimum suggested tio. It's a turn off. Doki doki sushi is great and a good value. Fresh and nicely presented for about what you would pay for at grocery store around here. Sky Lantern is good. The Khao Soi curry soups with fried chicken and crunchy noodles is excellent - full of flavor and texture and the fried chicken was perfectly cooked. The spicy chicken with cauliflower and rice was pretty good. The dumplings were just ok. Saoco was hit and miss. The Cuban sandwich was great. The empanadas and croquetas were over cooked. The chicken empanada was still delicious - really flavorful juicy filling. The beef empanada filling was just ok and kind of dry. Mimi's soft serve was disappointing. They only had 2 flavors, vanilla and matcha. The Ube (purple yam) was sold out. A small bowl of 1 flavor with 1 topping is 8 or 9 dollars. If you want it in a cone that's another few dollars. Add the suggested minimum tip of 15 percent and the cost for 2 kids to get ice cream is pretty shocking. I suggest they cut the price by half and they will probably more than double their business. And more flavors, at least have chocolate at a bare minimum. DC Dosa. That was my first visit, my dosa was undercooked and it fell apart when l tried to eat it with my hands like a normal dosa, the filling was too heavy for it so l had to eat with a knife and fork. Last time l went someone at another table had one that was a darker color so l think they have probably worked out the kinks by now. So in summary - very mixed, but l'm glad it's in the neighborhood. Was excited to see this open but didn't have a great first experience here. We were in a rush so Urbano was not possible (looks tasty and more inviting). After checking out the options, we settled on a salmon poke bowl from Sky Lantern... and were terribly disappointed when we ate them - it was nothing like a typical poke bowl. Super dry and bland brown rice and just fine tasting greens with a few pieces of salmon for $16. We would have been better off with Chipotle. read more

We had a lovely lunch from Sky Lantern. The khao sou noodle soup was very well flavored with lots of fried chicken pieces. More of a noodle dish than soup, which was a surprise, but absolutely delicious. My friend had the poke bowl and said it was also delicious. People were very helpful. It was a very nice lunch. The space is a bit noisy, as others have noted. Will definitely be back to try other restaurants. read more

Overall , The Heights Food Hall is great ! For those of us who live, work and/or shop near Friendship Heights , we finally have some delicious and interesting fast, casual food options . Everyone has different tastes, so explore and find your favorites. Saoco is very good - fabulous and very filling cubanos , tasty yucca fries and we'll definitely have to try more items. DC Dosa also has delicious food - another place we keep returning to. Both Sky Lantern and Doki Doki are great options-especially their dumplings /gyoza .. but other items , too. And Mimi has delicious soft serve matcha and pints of yube . The prices for some items are a bit high , but I'm sure the rent is very high ---this isn't the burbs ! There are also complaints about the crowded and limited seating . Again, this is a very small food hall ( with high rents!!) . The only way to have more seating is to take away some food stalls! With warmer weather, there'll be outdoor seating available . Also, I notice some criticisms of the owners/servers/bartenders from other reviewers. I'm very surprised. We've been to the Food Hall at least ten times ( guess that says something!) and we've been very impressed by everyone's friendliness and helpfulness! Just tried the curry noodle w/fried chicken bowl. It was delicious! Rich sauce with quality noodles. The fried chicken was perfectly fried -- crispy on the outside, moist inside -- and the portions were generous. More than just a food hall!! This place is so amazing and the service is phenomenal. Each stall is delicious and has quality food. My family got food from Sky Lantern, Doki Doki, and Mimi's. The salmon bake bowl was so yummy. The sushi rolls from Doki Doki are top notch along with the spicy tuna nachos. The dumplings were gone in seconds. Also the Doki Doki chef was so kind and gave great recommendations. Mimi's was a great sweet treat and the woman working the stall was just as sweet. read more

The food, while many choices, felt and tasted more college cafeteria than an 'elevated dining experience'. The true star of the show is Kimberly, the bartender at the main bar. While she can't do much about the food, she did provide us with everything we needed to eat. The moment we walked in she greeted us with a friendly smile. She had waters ready before we had our coats off. The cocktail menu is uninspiring, but was quick to let us know she had a full bar and was ready to make whatever we wanted. Kimberly is everything you'd want in a bartender. Quick, extremely personable, and pretty funny with her 'work appropriate' jokes. Her drinks were great. We absolutely loved her personal recipes she had hidden up her sleeve. Prices for the area are fantastic for the DC area. While we aren't in a hurry to come eat any time soon, we will come back for Kimberly. One of the best bartenders I've come across in years. read more
