    a plate of doughnuts

We celebrated our son's graduation here. Everything was good from the food, the ambience to all our servers. The place was awesome too. We loves everything and also their mini donuts was soo yummy too. Lastly, the cost was not bad too. We will definitely be back!

I genuinely loved this place! I'm surprised it only has 2 1/2 stars. The service was great and during happy hour the beer was 3$!!! THREE DOLLARS!! The food was tasty too, although I suppose it's true that it was nothing special - the burger I got did remind me somewhat of a fast food burger instead of a sit down restaurant burger, so I feel like if I came here all of the time I would eventually tire of it. But the arcade section was fun and there is also live music which is great. I would absolutely consider this a fun place to come and hang out and grab some food. Everyone was wearing plaid and cowboy hats which also made it better. Although I suppose that's the thing - it's better as a place to hang out as opposed to strictly a place to get really delicious food.

I was a bit surprised to see the yelp rating for The Henry. Its in a cute area of old downtown Cloverdale. Loved the decor and ambience inside. We had a great server last night! Very attentive! A few of us tried the dine out menu which was a Maple pork belly with spicy mustard, a calamari burger and a smores peanut butter brownie. The pork belly was delicious and had the right amount of sweet. The mustard it came with was not spicy and seemed like good old French's mustard! The calamari burger was different but very tasty. Just the right amount dill and the bun was so soft and fresh. Calamari was crunchy and perfectly cooked. The dessert was ok, not overly sweet but I was not a fan. Brownie too dry so perhaps overcooked? Either way I enjoyed my visit and will come back for happy hour!

The Hank's (a.k.a. The Henry) long bar with great beers in Cloverdale.

In Cloverdale near the Surrey Museum which is a great visit, is The Hank an honest and unpretentious pub. There are more varieties of beer than you can shake a stick at. We went for brunch: poached eggs on a mound of corn beef hash with salsa on the side for me. Chicken quesadillas for her. Both were delicious, served wit a smile and with a brewski came up to $40 tax and tip included.

When it comes to Saturday breaky, I admit, I am about as hard to please as the monarchy. I may smile and say I enjoyed it, but I know inside that I have had better. Well, I can tell you for a fact, this is the best $4.00 or for that matter better than any $15.00 breakfast I have "ever" had!!!!! The chef totally nailed it! The eggs were nice large omega 3 with beautiful dark yellow yolks and were cooked perfect - sunny side up (not easy to do) and still hot when they came to the table, the spicey spuds are a work of art and the sausages I had were perfect. Even the portions ans presentation are better than anywhere I have been, and trust me, I get around.. This place is a total gem for breakfast... I wish I could give it 2 more stars. I am holding up a score card with 10.0 on it. \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ \0/ Yay!

Been here twice, usually hang out in Vancouver, but when you feel like staying local, you wanna go somewhere nearby... You try to find something close. Well let me tell you, the henry is something else, the doormen were so racist its not even funny! There was a separate line-up for white people and a separate line-up for the brown folk. I've never felt racism and discrimination to this degree in my entire life. They were waiting until the brown people left the line/up, and we were at the front of the line for approximately 50 minutes, that's 10 minutes short of an hour, until they let a few people in, and of course they were of caucasian descent. If you actually read this, take it as a warning Cloverdale wants to stay a white dominated area, so if you're not white by birth, it's in your best interest to stay away.

We had a blast as the big restaurant with all its amenities was all ours. 1. The seating is huge with two floors. Lounges , dinning tables and what not. 2. Oak is part of the JRG fam, which i find hit or miss. I'm a big fan of Livelyhood in port moody (i think they have a great chef cuz the food is usually pretty good). I went to celebrate my nephews 8th birthday there (he said his reasoning was cuz they had good breakfast, and he could watch the hockey game). It was during happy hour so there are some cheaper options. I decided to get 1 corn dog ($4), and the pretzel ($6). When they server came with the food she was like "they accidentally made you 3 corn dog". well hey i'm not complaining! The pretzel arrived and looked ROUGH. i could tell it was going to be awful, i had a few bites and was not having it, it was dry, no salt or seasoning and the dip only worked for the corn dogs. I really enjoyed the corn dogs, they were fresh and tasty! I ended up letting the server know i was not happy with the pretzel and that it was dry and very bland. I usually have decent experiences here, the service is good, nice layout and the food is decent, but this pretzel was rough. She was really nice about my feedback and when my bill came, it was only $4. Thankfully she had taken the pretzel off my bill and was super super nice about it. Shoutout to Breanne! Maybe it's time to switch up the pretzel recipe but all in all, oak is a decent place if you're looking for pub food in langley. I prefer it over townhall for some reason.

I've not been to this pub's past location in Gastown so I can't compare it to its past venue, and I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't comment on that, but we both had a great time here! The pub interior was very reminiscent to the Irish pubs I frequented back in the day, when I spent time on the Emerald Isle: dark wood panelling, humongous selection of liquors and beers and bottles on the mirrored bar back, Guinness decor (posters and tchatchkies) interspersed with relics of various Catholic saints and deities. Wooden tables and chairs. Servers with genuine Irish accents. It felt like the real deal. Oh, and if you're into whiskey, they have one of the most extensive whiskey menus I've seen in Vancouver, by far (I am attaching a photo). Their food menu was impressive, too, especially for an Irish pub (which, in my day, wasn't really known for its food!). I had a Bailey's and my kid had a shandy (she had never had one before and she loved it). Our server was friendly and the atmosphere, casual and welcoming.

We expected Browns Socialhouse to be a sports bar, but were very pleased and pleasantly surprised to find it is much more upscale than that. A good thing! For the main course, we ordered the blackened chicken fettucine alfredo. It was really good. The little cowboy salad as an appetizer can't be beat at a price of $10.50. A really great value! The strawberry shortcake for dessert was a nice variation on a traditional strawberry shortcake. Our only disappointment was that the beef dip was not on the menu during the FIFA World Cup of soccer as it takes way too long for the restaurant to prepare due to the expected enormous soccer crowds dining at the restaurant. We will be back another time for the beef dip! Also, the music can be really loud when the soccer games aren't being shown on the TV screens. The loud music can be annoying/unnerving. There are several sections to the restaurant. We wanted to sit on low chairs, not on the high chairs. We ended up sitting in the outdoor covered patio area. Very enjoyable area on a warm summer's day. We liked the patio area. Others may prefer other sections of the restaurant. I think there are some booths in one section. The restroom are downstairs, which can be a drawback for people who are older or have a disability. Most of all, we want to thank our server, Melody, for her excellent service. Melody was very nice and pleasant. She was very attentive. She brought my spouse ice without being asked. (My spouse likes there to be ice in the water glasses.) The restaurant split our dishes in half as we were sharing the dishes we ordered. A nice touch by the restaurant. Much appreciated. Thanks to our server, Melody, for a very enjoyable evening of dinner before we went off to the Bonnie Raitt concert. We had a wonderful evening! Melody is one of the best servers we have ever had!
