While Cambria is dog-friendly the staff here love dogs. It is an outdoor affair so dress accordingly. They also have heaters for those colder mornings. The coffee is excellent and the service complements the food. As we stayed at the Rigdon this was a short walk over. I ordered the San Luis Sunrise and my wife had the Chorro Crunch. We were not disappointed. The SLS had me at bacon tips and found out this was a popular dish. I can see why... Our corgi, Romeo tried to turn up the cuteness to get some treats and was rewarded with a handful of biscuits. We obviously had a great experience here! read more

We were looking for a dog friendly place to eat and found The Hidden Kitchen with great reviews. The sitting area was very quaint and the staff were friendly. We were very hungry and ordered the Avila Avo and two of the Morro Melts. The only three good things about the waffles were the fried egg on the Avila Avo along with the avocado and arugula on both waffles. The waffles were too thick and the corn flavor overwhelmed all the other flavors of the dishes. Maybe if the waffles were cooked on a regular waffle iron and allowed to crisp up a bit they might taste better. Overall, a very bad gastronomic experience. read more

All I can say is WOW! So we were the first ones in line here, and thank god! This place is INSANELY CROWDED! It's very hard to find, but that was half the fun. So you order like a food truck (and I think it actually is a portable building) and then they bring out your food. There is about 10 seats total, so you better get there early. It was sad watching all the Hungry tourists wait for ever to get breakfast as a enjoyed my amazing food! I got the blue corn waffle with bacon and eggs on top and it was AMAZING! As long as you have Waze on your phone, it's not terribly difficult to find because they leave sandwich board signs directing you to the restaurant. MORRO MELT WAFFLE- Ordered this deliciously savory waffle. The thoroughly cooked organic turkey, havarti cheese, and organic caramelized onion was not so much a turkey melt because turkey might have been a bit overdone. However the organic avocado and hidden kitchen sauce added a nice touch of presentation. CAYUCOS COWBOY WAFFLE- Certainly a pretty looking waffle, the free range fried eggs covered the slow cooked smokey black beans. The blue corn waffle is just a slice of heaven with its crumbly exterior. It's topped off with mild salsa, slices of avocado, and the hidden kitchen sauce is really like taking a bite out of the best waffle you can have. FISCALINI FRUIT WAFFLE- For the sweet tooth, the Fiscalini fruit waffle is a deliciously sweet pairing of strawberries and bananas on top of the savory waffle. It was a delicious mix of power greens, banana, peppermint oil, dates, and almond milk. Try drinking that through a metal straw! ISLAY IMMUNITY- I hope my immunity is getting boosted! The combination of pineapple, tumeric, ginger, banana, orange juice, and bee pollen created a thickly rich smoothie and it felt like drinking pudding, albeit a super healthy pudding. Today... we were bummed by our experience. It wasn't very busy (no one in line when we got there) and it took about 20 minutes to get the waffle we ordered. About 4 min before we got our order, one of the employees walked by with what looked like our order and went along side the building behind to eat it. His was piled high with arugula. When ours came it had a tiny bit of arugula on it (the spicy- ness of the arugula is what really makes this particular combo pop!) so I went to the counter to ask if we might be able to get a bit more arugula (the normal amount for this particular one - as we've had it before and loved the combo of Turkey, caramelized onion avo and arugula.) the guy at the waffle station looked at the bin and said "sorry - that was the last of the arugula. We were able to order immediately on a Sunday morning, and our food and smoothies came out quickly. They have savory and sweet waffles, get one of each. The three ladies working here in the little trailer were concocting all kinds of glorious goodies, all with the most amazing smells and aromas. We ordered Chorro Crunch Waffle that was made with blue corn, totally GF. It was so so good. Sweet, moist, massive, and delicious. We also split the Chumash Chip smoothie and it was so so good. The cacao nibs get stuck in the metal straw which makes it a bit more challenging to drink but it was full of minty goodness and all the greens! Wonderful. They have Whalebird kombucha too. Had breakfast here this morning with my husband I wasn't sure how I was going to like it, but the meal grew on me as I ate it. I ordered the San Luis Sunrise with the avocado on the side. The Hidden Kitchen sauce was sort of like a chipotle. I think if I order it again, I'll replace the sauce with maple syrup. The blue corn waffle was fantastic and the egg and bacon were cooked to perfection. I also had a cup of extremely hot coffee and water with the meal. My husband had the Weirdo's Waffle and will order this again with the peanut butter on the side. I tasted the bacon, and it's an acquired taste with the peanut butter on it. He too had a cup of extremely hot coffee and water. The service was fantastic. The 3 young people running the place were delightful. We will definitely eat here again. I love that this place only serves gluten free food. The menu is not huge, but the blue corn waffles are worth trying. My boyfriend had a savory waffle and LOVED it. He said the HK sauce is good, and he appreciated the large amount of bacon on top; they didn't skimp. I had a sweet waffle with bananas and strawberries; they did skimp on the fruit. There were only a few slices of banana and not a lot more of strawberries. This is kind of a pet peeve of mine when it comes to fruit-topped breakfasts. The whipped butter really shone, though, and they give you a big scoop of it. It is almost whip cream-like, and I love whip cream. Drinks-wise, my boyfriend had a smoothie and me a masala chai. This place popped up first on my Yelp search of gluten-free breakfast in Cambria CA. Their specialty is the blue corn waffles. We decided to do a sweet and savory waffle. I would suggest the same it gives you the best of both worlds. The savory waffle we chose had avocado fried egg and a delicious sauce. They should sell that sauce on the side. For our sweet waffle we did the Olallieberry special which includes local Olallieberry sauce. It's like a blackberry without all the seeds very sweet. We could've probably just split one because the portions are huge but we wanted the best of both worlds. I didn't even know that I was eating gluten-free. We will definitely be back and next time we will try different flavors. They have two locations about 15 miles apart. This location is in downtown Cambria and hidden in the back of an alley. Look for the sign I posted a picture. They have lots of outdoor seating if you wanna stay and eat. This location is open on the weekends only from 9 to 2 so make sure you check before you head over. In the actual kitchen portion the girls making the waffles are using their bare hands to pull the waffles off the maker and to add all the toppings. My friend ordered the Morro Bay Melt and asked to switch out the turkey for bacon and they charged her extra for it, but $20 for a waffle is ridiculous.
