I'd been hearing stories about this mystical Hide-Away for awhile. I couldn't wait to check it out. I kept on imagining all of the quality people watching that was going to unfold before me. Last night I finally came face to face with this talked-up supposedly "divey" lair. And while there were some characters hanging out at the bar - the Hide-Away did not bring the dive. At all. It was mellow. The pool tables were intact. The bar had big plasma TVs hanging above it. The jukebox played Tom Petty. Even the bathrooms were cleaner than probably 3/4th of the bar bathrooms that I've been in - in San Francisco. It was actually a slight let-down. A well kept bar with friendly bar staff. But nope - barely a sliver of "dive." So yeah the Hide-Away is a quality place to grab a drink and catch up with friends. But if you're looking for a more "interesting" night - be sure to catch this place at a later hour (apparently a much later hour), or on a busy weekend. At least that's what I'm hoping - because I'm looking forward to another visit here - and hopefully a slew of moments - similar to the ones, which Raleigh captured so artfully in his review of the Hide-Away.

We sat at two back tables with a lagging tv and somehow our orders got mixed up with the table behind us. The nachos with meat wasn't ours but we started snacking on it, but call that bad karma because we think they must've been made with an unusual vegan meat. The salsa and cheese that pose as an addition to chips and bites were not tasty. On a positive note on their own, the jalapeno bites, pretzel bites, and chips were decent and beer and drinks were good. Prices are pretty good. If you want a drink, find the end of the bar and walk up. You are ignored if you wait in the middle of the bar. Victory was just like our 9ers playoff game tonight, not memorable and disappointing.

Last night, I tried one of their specials... basically a hot Caprese sandwich with chicken, balsamic drizzle, on focaccia. I totally understand the balsamic drizzle, though it felt a little overpowering in flavor. That said, I really enjoyed the sandwich! For me, it's still a great place to have a beer, watch a game, and have some tasty food.

I could get half a draft beer, there's a nice outdoor area, a cool bar cat that I became fond of, live music on Friday nights, and the staff is pretty awesome. The last time I went there was 4 weeks ago and unfortunately I will not go there again. My partner went there (he's also been there before) looking to see if I was there because I told him I was going there to retrieve my umbrella I had left there the night before. He was treated quite disrespectfully, even was threatened to have the cops called if he didn't get out of "his " parking lot. Mind you, this was during the day and my partner wasn't causing any trouble, he was just looking for me. This act alone was enough for me to decide that I wouldn't go there again. I understand people have bad days but when they are in service industry, you need to check that shit at the door before you start your shift. After all, the customer is paying their salary. Don't let my rants discourage you from going to Sports Attic 2, it's a cool place. I just can't get over the way my partner was treated.

There's music playing, but it's at a perfect level where you can still easily hold a conversation. The bar area also has multiple TVs if you're looking to catch a game. The space offers more than just drinks, with a small bowling alley (six lanes) and a pool table, making it a great spot to hang out. Bathrooms are located just outside the lounge, down the hall near the elevators. Service has consistently been solid during my visits. Staffing has never been an issue, and it's always been easy to get help at the bar. The drinks are well-made and flavorful, though on the pricier side. The only food I've tried so far is the carnitas nachos, and they're definitely worth ordering. Overall, it's a fun spot for both adults and kids, and it's usually our first stop after checking in.

I blame management, get yourself a HOSTESS, someone that manages seating. This was worse than a club or bar with everyone drinking because it was parents getting shots tequila, with kids, not caring about any other guests. This review is specifically for the Charlie's Candy Shop escape room…read more We came a few months ago in a group of six. I think the Finding Bigfoot escape room wasn't even open yet. The Charlie's Candy Shop escape room was created with AI, and we genuinely felt that was a mistake. This wasn't our first escape room, but we were completely lost. So many of the instructions were confusing and didn't make any sense. All the clues were super vague. One of the instructions was incorrect ( that's why we couldn't complete the task ), and our room host told us about it after our time had ended. We also got the exact same hint twice, from the button and the paper. Overall, the room felt cheaply made, and some of the components were broken. The host also told us that the percentage of people/groups completing the room without hints from the host is zero, which, in our opinion, is odd. So I guess the room is too hard, but mostly because not much of it makes sense. We think, the clues should be more helpful and clearer than what we experienced in Charlie's Candy Shop escape room. We still have hopes for the Finding Bigfoot escape room ( assuming it wasn't created with AI ). P.S. Our host was nice and friendly. He even let us glance at the soon-to-be-open Finding Bigfoot escape room, which we really appreciated. +1 star for the host.

Unfortunately, what started as an exciting night quickly took a disappointing turn when one of my colleagues was denied entry because he was wearing a bandana as a stylish hair covering. The staff member at the door told him that his bandana indicated gang affiliation. As a Black man, he was singled out based on an assumption that was both offensive and troubling. There were no posted signs indicating a dress code prohibiting bandanas, hats, or similar headwear. From our perspective, it appeared that our group of Black and Brown professionals was unfairly judged based on stereotypes rather than any actual behavior. What made the experience even more concerning was discovering other reviews that raised similar concerns about the treatment of non-white patrons. Afterward, I also noticed photos on the establishment's social media pages showing white patrons wearing bandanas around their necks and on their heads, which only reinforced our perception that the policy was not being applied consistently. As someone visiting Sonoma for the first time, this experience was unsettling and deeply disappointing. Several members of our group had already entered the bar and ordered food, but after what happened, we chose to pay our tabs and leave. We do not support businesses where we feel discrimination, bias, or racial profiling may be at play. Fortunately, we found another local establishment that welcomed our group of more than 30 colleagues with warmth and professionalism, and we were happy to spend our money there instead. I sincerely hope management takes a closer look at its policies, staff training, and how those policies are enforced. Every guest deserves to be treated with respect and fairness. Based on this experience, I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this establishment to others.
