Croissant sandwich

This was one of best croissant breakfast sandwiches ever had. However I asked for sausage in it! The service was good too, we went when it was super busy and full and still got seated and served quickly.

Huevos Divorciado, Pistachio Matcha

Enjoyable breakfast! We have long anticipated stopping into this place for a bite! I really enjoyed the service, waiters were very kind and friendly. It's a bit tight inside, and definitely be ready for a wait! There's no reservations/walk-ins only. We enjoyed the food, and found it to be fresh and good ingredients. The huevos divorciados were fun and playful with two different salsa toppings and eggs, with tortilla and beans in between. I loved the crunch, and the eggs were perfectly cooked! I'd stop back in and try something else on the menu! The pistachio in the matcha was a bit overwhelming, but it was nice and creamy:)

Cornbread Benedict

The good: food was delicious and different. Loved the cornbread Benedict (sounds unlikely, but the clear winner). The huevos divorciados (what does this mean? Divorced eggs?) was also good, though a tad hard to eat. Our table outside was pleasant on a sunny Saturday. BUT the service, was HILARIOUSLY slack. And I hate to say that because the server was nice, but... she initially refused to take our food order, insisting that she would only take our drink order and would come back to take our food order "in a minute." She took the menus away but didn't take our order. 15 min later she appeared with one of our two (regular) coffees, saying she'd come with another "in a minute". Four times she asked if we wanted cream, but then didn't bring it. She didn't come with the second coffee either. Eventually the host (?) brought the second cup-- after he delivered our food and saw that we were missing the coffee. She kept telling us she'd be back "in a minute" but then would disappear. We could see her chatting with customers but couldn't get her to deliver what we asked for. At one point she left her ordering device on our table for more than seven minutes (by that point we were laughing about it and started timing her.) So if she didn't take your order it was because we had the device. All in all it wasn't a bad experience-- it was a lovely day and the food WAS tasty. Just don't be in a hurry to get fed.

BS Benedict for me and John chose Rosemary Biscuits w/chorizo.

We stopped by for breakfast while up in St Paul. It's a lovely little place with a big menu! Service was great and everyone do friendly that John had an opportunity to chat with locals and the owner, who has a great vinyl records. I had the Black something Benedict and John a chorizo dish. I just thought that the cooking was rushed as the egg on the Benne was underdone as it was watery, the Hollandaise, too peppery so lacked its unique flavor. The chorizo was cooked way beyond its best flavor and the oil they fry the hash browns too hot and needs to be changed out. Really these are minor changes to make it a five star in my mind. We will be back as it's just such a gem in a beautiful historic neighborhood!!

Cornbread eggs Benedict with greens and pancakes, sausage, and hashbrowns.

Best brunch in St. Paul. The drinks were so delicious and creative, and both their classic dishes and originals were amazing. My date got the pancakes, sausage, and hash browns, and I got the cornbread eggs Benedict. Everything was stellar and the service was FAST! Best of all, while we were dining the manager arrived with a cake for the cook and they all sang happy birthday to him. I want to support a business that treats their employees like they are valuable. I would give it 6 stars if I could!

Egg and smoked Gouda croissantwhich with potatoes

Great spot! First, I'm a vinyl and music lover so the name of this spot and the record playing had me. Knew I was going to like it when I saw Best of Tribe Called Quest and Miles Davis' Witches Brew vinyl records. Went for brunch. The egg and smoked Gouda croissant was delicious. Appreciated the toasted bottom bc it keeps the sandwich crisp, not soggy, and just tasted amazing, plus potatoes. Gouda was a great touch. I don't usually rave about breakfast sandwiches but this was too good. Had the best espresso cocktail ever with delicious cold foam and hints of orange and caramel without the overly sweet syrupy taste. Our drinks were outstanding and so was our food. Friendly, attentive service. Will be back! Will have to try the delicious sounding coffee next time

Caramel roll and pistachio matcha latte

One of the best brunches in St. Paul. It was such a hard time making a choice on what to order because everything looked and sounded so delicious! The caramel roll was one of the best I ever had and pecans on top were amazing. 10/10 would recommend.

Cornbread Benedict & Huevos Divorciados

We recently visited on a busy day (Juneteenth) and despite this combined with short staffing, the service was great and overall very fast. I tried a pistachio matcha drink called The Hulk - it was in the coffee section of the menu but I think it was just flavored milk. Despite this, it was decent and refreshing. My kids really loved the Aloha Parfait - it was so beautifully presented in a papaya! I wish it had more yogurt, since my kids love yogurt. We ended up asking for more and the staff obliged which was nice. Cornbread Benedict was incredible. My husband also really loved his Huevos Divorciados. I loved the unique flavors and South American fusion. The entry to get in is a bit narrow and my 2 and 3 year old were having a hard time sitting still. No high chairs were offered to us so we couldn't contain them and one of the staff members seemed a bit flustered by them wandering. Because of this, I wouldn't say it's the most family friendly but maybe we caught them on an off day.

A lovely little brunch joint that is packed to the gills with both people and flavor. We were looking for a place to bring parents on a Saturday morning while visiting and this popped up with some really great reviews. We were seated within 15 minutes, though we felt lucky for that because the wait got quite a bit longer after we got there. Not too much waiting room inside but people could hang out in front on a nice day. The seating was tight but they pack in what they can. Service was pretty quick and we didn't wait too long for our food. There were so many interesting choices on the menu, but I finally settled on the cornbread benedict which was really unlike any other brunch dish I've had. A little spice and the delicious rich cornbread offset by some greens really made the whole package. Come on a weekday for a more relaxed vibe, but either way, make it here for some great flavors.

Great menu and friendly service. Fall menu hit the spot with Pumpkin Spice Pancakes! So fluffy and delicious. Highly recommend!

Carmel Pecan Pull cinnamon Roll

Atmosphere A lot is said about how an environment affects your dining experience, and they did it right. It's a perfect mix of a hometown cafe with a modern twist--featuring dark palettes, aesthetically pleasing wood accents, and a charmingly lit Christmas tree. The heavy aroma of fresh-roasted coffee beans fills the air, with subtle back notes of maple, butter, and cinnamon playing a "symphony of pleasure." However, the true stars are the vibrant colors and beautiful plating coming out of the kitchen. I sat for a moment just to take it all in before ordering. Food We ordered the Avocado Toast with hash browns, the Huevos Divorciados, and a side of the Hand-Pulled Cinnamon Pecan Twist. To drink, we had freshly squeezed orange juice and The Hulk (a Matcha Latte) mixed with almond milk. Taste Avocado Toast (8.9/10): The poached eggs were cooked perfectly, and the toast had the ideal level of crispness. The garnish on top of the avocado added a fresh bite to the palate. It was a very fulfilling portion and a definite "must-order" again. My only suggestion would be to offer a spicy version of this dish. Huevos Divorciados (9.1/10): You can tell the corn tortillas are handmade; they were light and crispy, layered over a bed of black beans. The andouille sausage was tucked under my over-easy eggs, all topped with salsa and crumbled cheese. In one bite, you get the crunch of the tortilla, the warmth of the creamy beans, the savory sausage, and the richness of the yolk. The acidity from the salsa provided a bright "pop" of flavor on the finish. Being from Texas, I've had my share of Migas and Huevos Divorciados--these didn't just pass the test, they aced it! Although I would have loved more spiciness choices. Pecan Cinnamon Roll (5 Stars): My Lord! There is something special about the crispy exterior produced by the cast iron skillet. The inside is creamy, warm, and gooey, with a buttery maple flavor that melts on your tongue. It's a party for the senses. Pairing it with their house coffee or the earthy, fresh Matcha makes for a blissful experience. Overall From the amazing server and service to the quaint, personal setting, this place is truly worthy of my "Delicious Gems" signature. With great pricing and a fantastic staff, it's a "can't-disappoint" experience. Whether you're taking the family for brunch or a special someone to make music over a breakfast date, The High Hat is the place to go if you want to make great memories. A St. Paul Minnesota Delicious Gem!

High hat hash, cornbread Benedict, classic breakfast #1 and classic breakfast #2

Super great spot for brunch, indoor and outdoor seating available in a well decorated atmosphere (beware of the bees). Great brunch options, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, eggs Benedict, and fun hash brown scrambles with fun twists. Good options for drinks and coffee too. They also have seasonal flavors and options available! Servers are very nice and knowledgeable of their menu!

Huevos Divorciados
Shawn B.

Stopped into The High Hat and had the huevos divorciados along with the Funky Monkey cocktail. Both were super tasty--the huevos had a great mix of flavor and spice, and the cocktail was fun and easy to sip. What I really love about this spot is the vibe... laid-back, welcoming, and the vinyl records they play just add such a cool touch. Feels like a neighborhood gem where you can relax, eat well, and enjoy the atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

Staff at the counter was super friendly and very open to suggestions though so that's a plus. We brought my niece here for a "birthday brunch" on here 21st and overall had a great time. The inside of the shop isn't anything to write home about but it's cute and great for the atmosphere we were looking for. More of a chill vibe where you can hang out and talk, think cute coffee shop meets diner type vibe. The food was good, not amazing, but still pretty decent. A little bit speedy for what you get. in my opinion but overall pretty good. I got the biscuits and gravey which maybe had a little too much greens added on top. It messed with the texture of the rest of the dish but the flavor was there and overall I enjoyed it. All in all a solid breakfast spot. A little bit spendy, but feels pretty in line with a more traditional sit down restaurant pricing these days.

That said, I found the tables claustrophobically close and the accoustics extremely loud. Most tables were for 2, but we were seated next to a 3 top that felt uncomfortably close. That 3rd person at the table next to me, who had extremely long hair, swished her hair *over* my plate of food more than once. At that point, I asked for a box to take my food to go just to escape the rude patrons sitting next to me. While I found the food well prepared and tasty, given the street parking only, menu prices, loud accoustics, and dense seating, I would probably opt to go elsewhere. There are other breakfast restaurants I prefer. It pains me to say this, because breakfast is my favorite meal to eat, and I'm always seeking someplace new to try. What did I get to eat: a tasty omelet with greens, gruyere cheese, and bacon served with hashbrowns and toast. The omelet and hashbrowns were both 5/5. The toast was borderline burned to my taste.
