The girls and I got together for a spa party the Thursday before my wedding. There were 9 of us on a Thursday morning and things could not have gone better! First of all, we had called another spa in the area to book our party and they replied, "I wouldn't book a spa party on a Thursday, we will be really understaffed". Mind you we booked several months in advanced, they could have planned to not be understaffed and kept our business. Nonetheless I'm glad we went with The Highlands Day Spa. The area is absolutely STUNNING. A perfect back drop. The staff at Highlands was fantastic. We actually showed a few minutes late due to bad planning on our brunch timing. The staff didn't blink an eye, they greeted us with smiles and open arms. They were very organized and took our payment with ease, 9 different forms of payment, sounds like fun doesn't it? They then showed us to the locker room to begin our services. The spa has a great ambience, very clean and soothing. All of the staff members were so sweet to all of us. We all got a 15 minute massage, a foot soak/massage, hair mask, facial, hand paraffin dip, and got to use the steam sauna. Although brief and not a 'full spa experience' we all had a great time and it was so relaxing! In between spa services we got to mingle in our own room where we were given complimentary mimosas for booking on a Thursday. If you are having a spa party I would urge you to have it here, we sincerely enjoyed our time. read more

This place was recommended to me by a friend, so I was looking forward to going. Upon arriving, I mentioned it was my first time there, but there was no, 'welcome to Highlands, this is what to expect' ... etc. After asking where to go next, I was told to help myself to the coffee, tea or water. The coffee wasn't very warm, and the canister was out of teabags. My friend had told me that they also offer wine during the experience which was not something that was offered to me. OK. So, I sat in the dark, outdated waiting area which lacked any type of spa ambiance. The music was dreary; it actually felt sad. My massage began 5 mins late ... and ended 5 mins early. The masseuse (I won't mention names) was very passive aggressive and actually said a couple things that were rude. There were a couple of times I thought about leaving because of the comments from the masseuse and the feeling that she seemed irritated. I was so thrown off by the whole experience. In conversation with the spa manager later, she did not ask me about my visit, so I asked her if she would like to hear about it. When I described everything, she offered me 50% off of my next visit which I highly doubt will be happening. Oh, by the way, be prepared to walk upstairs on your way to your 'relaxing' massage. I have had well over a hundred massages in my life but never have I had such an amazing experience as I did today with James. He was attentive to all my needs and just seemed to understand how the muscular system worked so much better than any other therapist I've had. He stretched my arms, legs and neck while massaging me, always making sure I wasn't uncomfortable. I will be back much more often, but only with James from now on. I wish I could remember the name of the gal that gave my massage because she was spectacular! That was the only great thing about my visit. From the time I walked in the door, the front desk staff were less than friendly. I was also absolutely shocked that not one staff was wearing a mask--last time I checked there is a mandate and we're in the middle of a pandemic. The massage was 5 stars but the rest of the staff and lack of responsibility to protect public health knocks this review to 1 star and someone that will never patronize that business again...and won't recommend it to others. read more

I took my sister to have a fun spa day and paid a lot of money, I had high expectations for the amount of money I spent and while I did enjoy the massage and facial; the pedicure was awful. I just wanted you to know that I will felt uncomfortable, it took way too long, she was not personable, and kind of made the overall experience downgraded.I will not be returning if we have this lady as our pedicurist again. read more

Emily suggested I come back for full length services, which I have many times in the past. And I stand firmly on my three star review. I wasn't looking for full length services in my "spa party", simply better quality services. It just didn't feel very pampering oriented. It was more of a quick rotation through the very simple and unimpressive services. We didn't have much time to visit as we were cycled through the services and there were only a few of us together at any given moment. Two were lounging, enjoying mimosas, one was getting a massage, maybe one applying a mask or something, another a pedi and then switch. It was just not something that we will choose again in the future. Tried it, pass... moving on. Full length services are fine. No real complaints, no compliments, just eh, yep, a facial. The location does have a beautiful view of Post Falls at night though! And I'd definitely recommend staying for dinner at Fleur de Sel after your services. my mom and i came to this spa as our favorite spa was booked out. let me just start by saying our facial was cut 20 minutes early and we got laughed at by restaurant patrons. there is a restaurant inside of the spa and the 'waiting room' is a couch visible to the restaurant. i am under 18 so my mom and i had to be together in a room, which was fine but it caused conflict. i told my mom to please not talk as i don't find it relaxing and i continually reminded her. all though that probably wasn't the nicest thing to do to my mom, i did say it and it happened. when we checked out, this woman who looked 16 as well asked if we were paying separately and i said no in a funny way because i don't have money like that and she gave me the most disgusted look. this was only the beginning of hell with them. i then gave her my key (which was broken and looks cheap) and said this is a piece of sh**. she was heavily offended and i apologize if you see this. i then left a review on google because i just did not have a good experience but mind you i left FOUR STARS! the owner then called my mom the next day and my mom said can my daughter please speak to you guys because i didn't leave this review? they then denied for me to speak and begin to say i told my mom to shut up. first of all i never once said to shut up and second of all that is between my mom and me NOT my mom and the spa. my mom then said we got our facial cut early and they denied it and didn't even apologize or offer a remedy. they then told my mom i was banned from the spa which i do not care as i would never go back there anyways but then proceeded to tell my mom she's welcome back. my mom and i are in utter disgust with these women and i can tell you we will be letting everyone we know about this situation. extremely upsetting that i had to come on here and write this bad review but this spa is narcissistic and their replies to other reviews, especially on facebook speak volumes. how dare they call my mom and not let me talk. it's almost like they were scared of a 16 year old. i do apologize for offending angone in this spa with my language. banning a 16 year old becuase she said this key is a pos is beyond me and it's almost laughable. they twisted my words and forced me to take my review down. here is the honest truth and i hope this reaches the right people. read more

My mom and I do the 3 hour package (massage, facial and pedicure) about once a year and enjoy is every time. The therapists have all been great. The things I wish they'd improve especially because of busy hours: only 1 toilet in restrooms, lockers right by door creates traffic jam, waiting area between services fairly small and right where they bring folks in so doesn't maintain relaxed feeling. read more

I've been here a few times and it seems like they are losing touch with the customers. The last time, we went on the December special which offered wine with your massage. I booked our office girls, 6 of us, and the receptionist noted it. On arrival, I asked about it, and he said we'd get a glass of wine. The third time, when I went to pay our bill, I asked about it and he asked if we still wanted the wine. By that time, we had been there 2 1/2 hours and were ready to go. It looked like the special was to entice us but in reality, no one made an effort to give us the 'spa' treatment. It's definitely not a Spa Paradiso or Zi spa. read more

My friend who works there is actually getting fired for whistle blowing. When the health inspectors show up, the owner tells the estheticians to avoid health questions by saying "they're busy". Waxing sticks are washed off and reused "to save money". The lotions they sell are cut with cheap OTC lotion to save the spa money. Don't ever get your nails done here either! UV lights have been busted for months!! Especially don't see Robin. Dangerously dumb and the owner doesn't care that she's given customers chemical burns during facials (which she talks through the entire time!) what I've talked about here is just scratching the surface of the shady business that's going on here. Looks can be deceiving so DON'T GIVE HIGHLANDS YOUR BUSINESS! read more

Awful customer service. I was given a gift certificate for Christmas last year for 2 hour long massages. The person who gave me the gift also paid $20 for the tip (in advance) so I wouldn't have to pay. They would not honor my certificate. It expired this June. It was written on the paper. I didn't even notice when I opened my present last Christmas. I was saving it for December when things get hectic. No refunds, partial credit, nothing. They claim that they call people before the certificates expire, but I did not get a call. Neither did my husband who gave me the gift. read more

I just enjoyed my first visit to this spa on Saturday. I called on Wednesday to see if I could get a facial - I could and it was on a special for only $45! I arrived early so I could relax a bit before the service. Their location is restful - top of the hill and near a golf course. It was quiet and smelled very nice, but I would forgo wicker chairs in favor of something a bit more comfy :) My facial was wonderful! The tech, Kelsey, was professional and QUIET - which is sometimes hard to find in a tech. Her technique was superb and I felt very relaxed and dewey after my treatment. It was an hour long and included a hand and foot massage as well as all the steps for a good facial - cleanse, tone, mask, massage, etc. The room was spacious and the bed supportive and comfortable. My only suggestion would be to let the folks in the salon/nail area know that a service was going on and to either be more quiet or put up a door to that area. Not that laughter is a bad thing - but it did interrupt my quiet time a tad. I will visit again and try some of the other services. read more

Spa business practice #35: Avoid hiring your ancient mother to run the linen service. Highlands has alot of low points; a smouldering candle in the womens room, a deafening - when - flushed toilet and the owners mother, a sextigenarian who needlessly worries about towel usage, apprently working at least 40 hours a week, because she is always there. Unfortanatly, the guest she choose to bother was me. So i bring my own towel. And water. All i want to do is relax in the sauna and be left alone. After this time, I swear ill never return. A standard towel is 27 x 52 inches, I paid $5.00 at check in for a towel to sit on in the sauna. The sauna that infrequently gets washed out and drain smells weird. That towel cost me $.03 per inch, which iam happy to pay. But this old woman kept harrasing me, if id paid for that towel (entry to the sauna, with a locker, robe and wrap is $15.00) she was even waiting outside the shower to ask me again, whos towel i was using, which was super creepy... My point is, i did pay for the towel. And you harrassing me on my day off, as a paying guest, is just plain rude. If you cant handle people using a towel, esp. one they purchased to use, dont run a spa. You wanna know if i paid for that towel ? Go check with the gracious desk girls, who were kind, its not my job to keep your linen inventory par levels up to date, and please, retire, for the sake of spa guests and the entire industry. read more

Just had my first, and definitely NOT last, Spa visit here. Wow, it was truly AAhhhhmazing!! What an experience! From the day I called to schedule for my friend and I to get several services done, they were kind, helpful and sweet even on the phone! The Spa is located on a hill, I loved the views. Very cozy, clean, quiet and smells wonderful! Being pregnant, thats a plus for something to smell wonderful for me right now :-) Every single lady I came in contact with, was so kind and sweet! My friend and I got a Spa Facial and Pedicure done, after she got her Massage first. I was even given a nice refreshment drink while waiting for my friend. We both really enjoyed every moment here! The esthetician Sarah gave me one of the best facials i've ever had, she had the perfect touch, and made sure I was comfortable before and during the facial, being prego and laying down isnt much fun, but I got treated so well, and pillows everywhere i needed :-) I couldn't believe the negative reviews I read online, so I asked my FB friends and relatives about this spa, everyone raved about it, so I knew I had to try! And I seriously LOVED this spa!! I will surely be back and will reccomend to everyone! I definetely LOVED their low prices! So glad to have found such an amazing place, thanks to the owner for such a great job on the Spa! read more

I am only giving this company one star because I think their customer service is terrible. My dad bought me a $75 gift certificate here eight months ago. Unfortunately I just now noticed that it expired after six months and they will not honor it. I realize that I should've read the fine print, but I'm not used to get certificates expiring after such a short amount of time. Money down the drain. I'm a mom who doesn't have a lot of time without the kiddos and wanted to use it when I needed it most, but they've decided to keep the money without providing a service. read more

Dear Jeane, I am writing in regards to the disappointing experience I have recently had (or actually was deprived of) at the Highlands Day Spa in Post Falls. I have attempted to contact you three times regarding my gift certificate prior to it's expiration date and my pending appointment. This has been an arduous process attempting to get a response from you (still to no avail): First, I live out of town and when I called to make an appointment, your schedule was booked. I understand this happens. Second, I was told it would be extended if there was a medical excuse, or if I was a veteran then I was told the computer takes the gift certificate out of the system on the day it expires. These two things seemingly contradict the policy. And still trying to abide by your policy, I have attempted to call three separate times prior to the certificate's expiration date to hopefully schedule or arrange something and have left messages specifically to this issue. There has been absolutely no return call. I find this behavior abhorrent and reprehensible - devoid of any customer service value. I could understand if I came in (3) months later or perhaps a month beyond the expiration date. I understand there needs to be a cutoff point somewhere except to be denied only one day after the expiration date is simply poor business practice. I understand the need to have policies and procedures in place, yet this simple request of extending the gift certificate for only one day was not unreasonable. Bottom line, you openly received payment for the service, but no services were rendered. Unfortunately, the whole point of the spa is to relax and take away stress - not cause it. As it stands now, I will not recommend your establishment or utilize any of your services in the future. That is the last of my money you will get. I certainly hope it was worth it - you might want to check out the "lifetime value of a customer" article on LinkedIn to perhaps gain a better perspective on your myopic business practice which may ultimately lead to your demise. read more

ZERO STARS So, we decided to "treat ourselves" and Highland's day spa had been recommended by the friend of a friend. We bypassed google (big mistake because that's where the other awful reviews were that would have warned us) and went right to the Spa's website. Lavish, extravagant treatments were described and we decided that was just what us girls needed. Upon arriving, the place seemed wonderful. The service and treatments we actually received were awful. At first, I thought it was just me so I kept quiet. I wish I hadn't. We were rushed through our manis and pedis, didn't receive half the treatments advertised on the website and when I looked at my nails, they literally pointed in opposite directions of my fingers. We received even worse treatment than what you would get at any other local nail salon but paid almost 3 times more! On the way home, we discovered we were all sick to our stomachs that we had just paid such a substantial amount of money for such subpar "spa" treatment. It was for the sure the first and last time we will EVER go to Highlands Day Spa and hope others read the google/yelp reviews before throwing their money away like we did. read more

I am an out-of-towner that was visiting a friend and her kids for a few days. My friend and I booked a day at this spa without the kids. We had reserved a couples massage and body exfoliation. From not seeing each other for a couple of years, the point of the couples booking was to spend the day at the spa together. Upon our arrival we were notified that we would not be in the same room for either of the services although it was indicated on the website that we would be. Of course we were disappointed but agreed that it would still be a nice day. At that time we also confirmed that the couples package price was per couple and not per person, of which they agreed. Once my friend and I were taken into separate rooms and each of us disrobed for our massages we were notified by each of our separate therapists that the costs for the couples package was per person and not per couple as indicated on the website, in-house flyer, and further confirmed upon on our arrival. At that time due to the inconsistency of what we had originally thought we had reserved, we requested to speak to the manager to discuss the issues we had encountered. We advised the manager of our confusion due to the misleading text on the website, flyer and discussions with the therapist regarding the couples services and costs. The manager, Justin, stated that "he could understand why people would be confused over the text..." however he was not willing nor did he offer to honor the price for the couples package. I advised the manager that this was false advertisement and that I felt it was very unprofessional how we were notified of the cost change and the service change. His only retort was that there was nothing he could do but to only have us pay separately or work out another service. At that point, my friend and I realized that this was not the type of service or organization we wanted to give our business to so we decided to leave. If I could, I would not provide any stars to this place. They are misleading and I feel as though we were conned into reserving to the point where we were each naked in separate rooms before they threw the bomb that the price had changed. Not only that but once we had already undressed and put on their robes did they notify us that we would not be in the same room. I frequent many spas and I am appalled at the service and quality of management. I am a director of business development and marketing for a firm and I was astonished by the lack of empathy and customer service provided by this establishment, more specifically by the manager Justin. read more

We had a gift certificate we had been waiting to use. So we finally made an appointment and responded to texts and emails to confirm. We got there, went up to the front desk to check in, told her our name and she kinda hesitated and said ok let me have someone take you back and I'll figure it out. We went back and changed and were waiting for the masseuse to come get us. Next thing we know the gal at the front desk comes around the corner and says I'm really sorry we had a new person working the front desk and there was a large group that canceled today and she canceled yours too thinking you were part of the group. We didn't know what to say, the only option she gave us was to come back in two hours or she could give us a "super good discount" and reschedule... we had no choice but to reschedule. We came back and had a nice massage and got our discount but it did not in any way make up for the customer service we received. read more

On vacation from California, we decided on our last day we wanted to get massages. We called this morning to see if they could fit 3 of us for an early afternoon hour massage. They moved schedules around so all 3 of us could get massaged at 12:30. Upon arrival, we were a few minutes early, but we were greeted by friendly staff and was helped right away. The massage was amazing and all staff was extremely friendly. If I ever come back to Idaho to vacation I will def add highlands to my to do list. read more

HORRIBLE!!! My father in-law purchases my wife massages often and she could not use it right away. She went to set up her massage and they told her it expired and there is nothing they can do. I have gone there twice and both time something went wrong. The first time the room had been booked for two people so I had to wait 45 minutes and the second time the wax pot broke half way through the job. Plus the price doubled, I will never go there again. read more

2 stars for the spa itself (based on how they handle their gift certificates and expirations) and 10 STARS FOR Evey Sherven. She gives an incredible foot reflexology session! After receiving a foot treatment I walk out with my entire body rejuvenated. If I have a tender spot, we talk about which part of the body it is connected to. Great health resource! When I bought 2 gift certificates for friends, she contacted me personally when my friends were delayed in using the certificates to make sure they didn't expire unused. If she was in charge, customer service would be over the top! But then she wouldn't be available for foot reflexology. And that would be a huge loss to her customers! read more

No Stars! It appears that customer service in regards to gift certificates is more than a weakness in this Spa. I received a generous gift certificate (Spa day for two) from my son for Christmas. The week before it expired, I called to schedule an appointment. There were none available before the expiration date. (June 30) They said the could schedule us for July 1st but no later. I took the July 1st appointment. At 7:44 p.m.on June 29 the owner (yes, the owner Jeanne Woods) of the spa called me to tell me that my gift certificate expired on June 30 and I could not use it on July 1. I spent 9 minutes on the phone with her trying to explain what poor customer service that was and that my son paid good money for that gift certificate. I am still in utter disbelief that someone would run a business that way. She should have honored the certificate as I had tried to make my appointment the week before and she was full. It's not like I was calling to set up an appointment after the expiration date (Even then...it's not like it was a coupon, it was a purchased gift!!!) I contacted another local spa and asked what their policy was in this kind of situation. Hmmm....their gift certificates don't even have an expiration date anymore. And the ones that did are still being honored. Therefore, for group spa services I will try Z spa next. For an excellent personal massage I highly recommend Allison @ Bliss. Forget Highlands... I too had a gift certificate for a massage and facial. I asked to add a mudd mask and an additional scalp massage. The receptionist explained that I would get a good scalp massage during my regular massage. I get to my appointment and they tell me I'm an hour early. I msde the appointment the day before! Linda did ny facial and it was wonderful. She did not put my hands in mittens or rubbed my arms. It was time for my hair mask. I was taken back to the nail salin where Jolene slather the mudd in my dry hair. She put a wrap over it and did my massage. I told her that I was having problems in a specific area which she ignored. I told her later that I was really having a lit of psin and would like her to really dig into thus area (my shoulder and arm). Because my hair was full of mudd I didn't get a scalp massage. She then took me back to rinse my hair and that's what she did. It didn't feel good and she made a comment about not being good. She handed ne a hand towel and said I was done. My hair was a giant rats nest! I had to get a handful of cheap conditioner from the shower then roam the hallway for s comb. I went into the steam room and spent 30 minutes on ny hair. I needed to shower to get all if the crap out of my hair. I took a shower and all they had were hand towels to dry of wuth. I put my dirty, stretched out wrap and robe on and again wandered the hallway looking for a towel. People were in and staring at me. I didn't have topay for the mudd mask but that's all they were willing to duscuss and of course no one has ever complained. Its really stupid not to offer towels and clean robes to change into. If you sit in the steam room with soaking wet hair you are going to be wet. Its also strange that they don't have a seperate changing area. I suppose 1 person could use the restroom. I would give them a negative rating if it wasn't for Linda doing my facial. The girl who purchased my gift was extremely unhaopy snd called them. They have not responded. read more

I was a student in the "school" down in the basement. I was expelled because I stood up for myself against the owner. I had paid for an extra weekend class with my girlfriend, (650 bucks a piece). When she realized she had overbooked the spa upstairs she pulled my very shy girlfriend out of class do cover the extra clients. I asked where she was going, I was told it was none of my business. Even though I paid for her class and now no longer had a partner to work on. When confronting her again I was ignored and I admit I got a little heated and told her to stop walking away from me... anyways two days later I was expelled because "my hearts not in it" and "I'm a bad massage therapist" Evan though I was booked three weeks out. They sent my "debt" to collections in 3 days. After two months they called me and offered me a job at the spa. They reuse lotion sticks to save money, they only wash the top blanket for the tables once a month. Don't go here for "school". Its awful. read more
