I have to post again. I was at Taste a couple weeks ago and it only gets better each time. However, Robbie and team need to know I may have to personally give you all one star instead of five. I have twice eaten at other restaurants since my last time at Taste, where I ordered meatballs. Taste has ruined all future eating experiences for me. Two bites into my meatballs at the other restaurant and all I can tell my table is, "this isn't Taste." What do I do now?!?! Go eat here!! read more

Really solid experience all around. The baked dish was rich and well done--great depth of flavor in the sauce, and the melted top layer added a nice texture without feeling heavy. Comfort food, but clearly made with care. The shrimp dish stood out too. The shrimp were tender and fresh, with a clean flavor that paired well with the tomatoes and light seasoning. Simple, balanced, and executed well. The wine pairing complemented everything nicely without overpowering the food, which I appreciated. What made the biggest impression, though, was the service--especially from the owners. They were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely engaged without being over the top. You can tell they take pride in what they're doing, and it shows in how they treat their guests. Overall, a place I'd definitely come back to and recommend to others looking for a quality meal in West Linn. read more

The aesthetic of the establishment is nice, cozy for sure, and our server, was great! Very attentive, which is nice and let me try a few wines. I wish this place though had flights... they have such great wines I wanna taste them all. Kinda in the name lmao. But I would suggest not ordering the steak bites... was just grounded up steak in a very sloppy oil sauce. Not what we were expecting. We also had a mishap with our whip cream on our dessert, which wasn't that big of a deal since they made the situation right. They completely redid the floors, furniture etc- it's beautiful and definitely brings a new type of PDX hip class to West Linn. The wine selection is vast, and yet still incredibly reasonably priced. With HH price incentives that are offered up to 5pm everyday ($8-12), based upon the tier of wine! Bottles and by the glass are offered as well. The menu, I swear, was crafted from my very own culinary dreams! And again - all so reasonably priced. We had just come from dinner and weren't planning on eating, but we had to try the custom bruschetta board. There are about 10 profile pairing selections to choose from. And for 3 pairings it's only $16! I actually felt guilty only paying that much! This menu would appeal to your whole dinner party, with GF options available as well! High end and ample portions of prosciutto, salmon, grilled peaches, figs etc! For this savory selection, quality, presentation and price, I told our server "That's it. Have been here twice and enjoyed them both. Once for a date night and another for happy hour with a friend. Service is always top notch, food is great (really liked building our own bruschetta board), and the welcome pour is a great touch. We invited another couple to join us for dinner tonight and I am so embarrassed that I chose Taste as our destination. Three out of four dinners were terrible. When the server finally came back to our table to clear dishes and saw full plates of uneaten food, he didn't even question us to see if we enjoyed the meal and instead left the check at the table. Note that we ordered a salad with chicken that was so dry it was uneatable. A french dip that was served cold! What??? It was piled with arugula and even the au jus was served cold. Terrible! We also ordered the ravioli and received a plate with only five small ravioli. It truly was a crime and my guest left hungry and was going to stop by Burgerville on her way home. I highly recommend that if you visit, don't order anything but charcuterie, but trust me when I say that it's not worth trying. read more

This is an absolute gem in West Linn. Every single item on the menu including the dessert is over the top! We come in here a couple times a month plus we have tried their awesome wine dinners after hours. Every single one of the staff members are competent & lovely to interact with. Tonight we had Jo again and were impressed with her positivity & excellent service. We finished the night with a chocolate mousse topped with whip & hazelnut crumbles.... To die for! I had an okay meal here, staff was very nice but I really just came to leave one note. PLEASE FIX THE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE. I'm not trying to be rude but they seriously need help. If you're selling warm cookies at the end of meal they better be amazing. These were not good.. Also, the idea of the bruschetta board is nice but the bread is all wrong for this. Last night we had one of the best and very refreshing dining experiences in a long while. Customer service across the board and in restaurants has just become less than in my opinion, no matter what category of restaurant you are giving your business to. We had reservations, we ran in with 45 minutes before a commitment to eat and have a cocktail and "Jo" was our server. She was pleasant, so very prompt in responding and checking on us and she got us in and out of there with time to spare with such an amazing attitude. We tipped as if we had been able to be leisurely cause we will come back when we can and we will request her every time. The food was amazing, the tiny steak bites and meatball were our favorite. This place is amazing! It definitely warrants the high praise. Jonathan at the bar was super informative and attentive. He walked me through every tasting he was sampling for me, and we got to chatting about the different wines they have been bringing in. It is clear Jonathan is an expert in this field and is passionate about his craft. The atmosphere is casual enough to enjoy with friends, but I'm sure it would become more sensual in the evening; enough to have a date here. Very interesting night at Taste. We had reservations for 3 and the power went out in West Linn shortly before our reservation. They welcomed us in and said they were going to stay open without power. All of the staff were super friendly. Service was great as well as the food. The fun thing was , at it got dark after sunset, one person at each table took out their cell phone and turn the light on. We would then turn the phone upside down and place on an extra wine glass. Made it a magical experience. We will definitely come back in the future when they have power.
