Although I do not come here EVERY single week, it is a excellent place to meet with friends in the area especially around Wildomar. The servers are nice and you can even see the owner around as well which is nice to see. Drinks are always cold, food is always hot, and the vibe is always great. We've been to The Hive twice now and have not been disappointed. The staff (especially the manager named Crystal) are very friendly and accommodating. Crystal went the extra mile to make sure our family (especially our daughter) was comfortable. They have a small outdoor seating with heaters, live entertainment and comedy nights. I'm a regular customer at The Hive for both meals and cocktails. I have been coming here since it opened. As you can tell by my previous review, I'm a fan. I actually had to wait until today to write this review so I could calm down! Somethings changed. I'm not sure if Tim the owner has lost his love for the business or has just given up. I rarely see him in his business and rarely see him interact with customers. Not sure, also, if he's cutting costs by buying cheaper quality meat OR hiring less enthusiastic cooks in his kitchen that just don't GAF! Last night was my worst experience in this establishment since it opened and it was my second visit in one day! I had brought another first time customer for The Smoked Old Fashioned after a birthday lunch. I left at 4:45pm and returned with my husband at 5:15. It went completely downhill from here! First of all, the front of house staff has always been polite, cheery, helpful, polite, and show great service skills each and every time I've been in. Danielle, Val, Star, Tommy all of them know me and provide great service! This review is about the lack of skill in the kitchen staff, lack of management by the owner because of his absence in his business that allow this type of service happen. I was not the only customer having a similar experience judging by the body language and dropped faces waiting for food! My husband and I ordered dinner, fish n chips and Medium Rare tri-tip with a salad at 5:20pm. Fourty-five minutes had passed and other tables that arrived after us had already been served. Our entrees arrive just before 6 pm by Star with a smile and apologized for the wait. I looked at the tri-tip and it was closer to Medium Well and asked her to take it back to the kitchen for Medium Rare. As my husband ate his dinner, she returned with my SAME original entree and said "The kitchen told me to tell you this is medium rare" I was shocked! I've had this entree 30+ times here, it's all I've ever had in the last year and I've never seen it so bad! I know she was only doing what the kitchen staff told her to so it wasn't her fault. But now was I to worry the kitchen wouldn't screw with my food? I sent it back and said I wasn't eating it. She said she would have them make a new one. I sat and watched my husband eat dinner and another 40 minutes went by. I asked our server to just bring boxes when it was ready because now I'd been sitting there for almost 2 hours with no dinner. It arrived and looked odd, but I threw it all in the box and was going to eat at home. We leave........not happy! I put my pj's on and open the cardboard box and the tri-tip was RAW, that's what the kitchen was giving me! See pictures! It's now 7:30pm and I've had nothing to eat and couldn't even cut through this raw meat with a German Steak knife! I was so annoyed that I got dressed and drove BACK! Yep DROVE BACK! I brought the raw Tri-tip with me and showed it to Val, Star and another employee I see there regularly. They all agreed it wasn't cooked properly and each apologized up and down! I mean what could they do? It appeared that this is standard practice to apologize for the lack of care in food preparation! They said they could get me something else, but I've NEVER had anything else in a year! I selected the BBQ flat bread but don't eat friend food so substituted the Tempura Onions for red onion. I sat at the bar and ordered a beer while I was waiting. I watched a couple across from me get increasingly frustrated and look at their watches I found out why because 35 minutes later they were served dinner, one being a BBQ chicken pizza. My pizza arrived a few minutes later, boxed up. I left, headed home, sat down at the tv with my cardboard box AGAIN. GUESS WHAT? Raw cold onions, hard as s rock crust, and zero cilantro (which is the garnish on this dish) What a complete disappointment! What a horrible experience! Everything that happened shows the owner has checked out! He's at home while his staff is failing him and he's not there to stop it! I thought about trying to contact Tim in person but others need to know my experience. I haven't seen him there in months. I will be in for cocktails but I'm not sure if I'll continue to bring new customers in with me or brag about the food unless something changes. Footnote: I've spent 19 years in the restaurant industry, opened 35 units across the country for 3 different chains, hired over 3,000 employees, trained front and back of house staff, wrote service manuals, and for 4 years owned my own $1m a year restaurant. I have experience so I'm not speaking out of my ass. My previous review shows I come here a lot! I really like this business but they need to review and regroup and fall in love with the reason they chose to go into this business! It's clear something has been lost! I've tried to like this place since it's one of the only options in the area that offers the promise of good food with a place to watch the games. However, I've tried this place on three separate occasions, and unfortunately, each visit fell short. The first visit was during their soft opening, and they had some things they obviously needed to work out. We tried their flatbread pizza, and it literally was served with the entire top covered in about 1" of fresh herbs. I actually love fresh herbs, but it was way too much, and we gave them feedback and they were overall very positive. Service was a little slow, but it was their soft opening so that's totally understandable. During our second visit, service was again really slow. I'm not sure why everything takes so long because it's hardly busy every time we're there, but we chalked it up to maybe an inexperienced server. I ordered a margarita, and when the server brought to our table, it had huge ice chunks in it. I asked if it could be reblended to get rid of the chunks, and they obliged. When my drink was brought back, it was clearly blended with a ton of water added because it now had zero taste. Not to mention, there were still large chunks of ice in it. I took three sips of the drink before I couldn't bother finishing it. We wanted to go to a place to watch football so we tried them for the third time last night, hoping that it would be better than the last two visits. Again, the service was slow. I'm not sure what they're doing back there or why they don't recognize someone sitting at a table in a nearly empty restaurant. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer, and it was honestly delicious. Unfortunately, it was the only thing that was good. We ordered the following: Chicken Lettuce Wraps: These weren't traditional by any means, which is fine. But the lacking flavor coupled with huge chunks of flavorless chicken made it fall short. BBQ Chicken Flatbread: We waited over 20 minutes for this dish to come out....only for it to come out at barely room temperature. The onions were super greasy and cold. The chicken was barely warm, and the flatbread in some areas was nearly undone. I get the impression that these guys have cubes of precooked unflavored chicken hanging out back there and they throw them in whatever dish calls for it. I joked to my date that if I got salmonella it was because of this dish. Lukewarm chunks of chicken? Gross. We had 3 slices and abandoned the rest. Honey Chicken Wings: This dish also took over 20 minutes and fell extremely short. The wings seem like they're pre-frozen. They were fried without any seasoning and then drizzled with honey. We couldn't even eat 4 of them before abandoning the dish. Totally flavorless and greasy. Other issues: The bartender is pretty forgetful. We sat and watched her start an Old Fashioned for another patron and then completely forget about it 10 minutes later. (Poor guy.) We asked her if she could change one of the tv's to the Monday Night Football game, and she completely forgot and needed to be reminded a few times. She also took quite some time to collect our money when we tried to pay our tab while sitting at the bar right in front of her. We gave this place three good tries, and won't be back. Some things we can understand, but cold and flavorless food with slow and mediocre drinks will have us going elsewhere. read more

This place was awful... went this evening.. they had a 40min wait returned.. Got seated.. and waited over 25mins plus.. juat to get water.. to get a chance to order cocktails & food never happened. There was a total of around 4 or 5 girls one guy or something.. walking around we never got greeted or asked anything I have to say this was the worst service I have ever had anywhere.. little did they knew we were celebrating and we where to spend good money. Finally decide to walk out of that place never looking back was happy I didn't waste any more of my time at that place and gave my business to someone else. It's been a while since I've been willing to review a place over a hamburger however with The Hive, it's worth noting. The Hatch burger, perfectly balances quality ground meat with cheese, arugula, hatch chillies and of course cheese all on a brioche bun. I ordered medium, which came actually medium rare but was exactly what I needed - still if you're not fond on rare meat you might as well order medium well. If you're not, go for med and you'll be pleased with the results. If burgers aren't your thing try the fish and chips- that fish is the size of a small child - and fresh, perfectly seasoned and fried. If interested in appetizers try the fried pickles. Who would have thought fried pickles are a thing but at the The Hive it can be perfectly paired with any number of different fine craft brews. I will be back and would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Came by today for the first time to try out their happy hour. $2 off appetizers, $2 off regular priced drinks & $5 well drinks. We came in right when HH started (2pm) and seating was no problem. We started off with their old fashioned and Thyme is Honey drink, both very tasty. We order a second round. Ordered their chicken wings and after a half hour wait they finally came out. They were just OK. We could've stayed longer but after the wait for the wings and the waitress forgetting about us we decided to leave. We had a really good time and experience here. The service is impeccable and the food is delicious! Very kind staff greeted us immediately and made sure our seat location was fine. We started with a regular margarita and their smoked old fashioned which were both really good (margarita was sour but still good). For our entree's we ordered their mini fish n frings (fries & onion rings) and their fried chicken sandwich which were both really really good. They played a variety of music genres which was cool and just had a great all around vibe. If I could give 6 stars, this place would deserve it. We rode our motorcycles over Ortega Highway and needed a place to eat on the East side. I found The Hive and it was perfect. The service was spot on, the beer selection is good, the fried pickles were the best I have had (big slices in beer batter that is not too oily). Then my buddy and I split the BBQ Burger and the pulled pork sliders. The burger was a top 10. The sliders were very good. Now I have a stop to return to when I am in the area. Went twice hade the same thing first time was great so we went again. Bad idea my steak was so cold I thought it came out of the refrigerator then when I told the waitress she Argued which me saying that's how a wed rare steak should be. I have never in my life hade a steak that was ice cold almost colder then my salad. Then said they might have been done with mine too soon and left it out till my wife's was ready. I was so upset I said 0paid the bill left a 15% tip and I did not want to leave a tip at all. So I left 15% I usually leave 20 to 25% better service and worm food at Denny's. I wasn't trying to get free food I was pointing it out to the server who was rude. Also after months of leaving commitments on Facebook I just got my first response which was rude from the management. I tip the server paid my check and left because awls I was trying to do was inform the server of my cold food which created an argument. read more
