Issue: Online reservation disaster Outcome: Our reservation was cancelled early the next morning, and we were told our generator was given to another customer. Reservation date: 10/7/2024 Pickup date: 10/8/2024 I hope everyone in the path of hurricane Milton fared well and sustained little to no damage first. But if you ever need to reserve a generator or other necessary equipment in lieu of the storm AVOID HOME DEPOT AT ALL COST! I live in Chicago, and I tried to fly down to help my elderly parents and siblings who opted to shelter in place in North Fort Myers, Florida. We sheltered in place for hurricane Ian 2 years prior, so we knew we had to take considerable precautions for Milton. For those asking why we did not purchase our own generator after Ian, I hope you realize that not everyone can afford to do so, especially on a fixed income. I was supposed to fly in on the Tuesday before the storm to take my mom to doctor's appointments and to check in with them for my own sanity, but my flight got delayed until 10/13/2024. So, I made an online reservation based on a suggestion from a co-worker on 10/7/2024. The idea of being able to reserve a generator and rent one for a week seemed like a God send so I proceeded to do so and entered 12pm on 10/8/2024 as the pickup date. The online process asked me when I would like to pick it up and to list the first and last name of the person that would be picking it up. Since my flight was delayed until Sunday, I put my brother's first and last name down since he was available. We received a confirmation message and were good to go...so we thought. Turns out our order was cancelled early the next morning, and we were told that the generator was no longer available!!!! We did not find out that this was the case until we arrived at the store for our pickup time of 12pm on 10/8/2024. Why did we not know, you ask? My family and most of Fort Myers, Florida lost power on 10/7/2024!! So, we had no idea our reservation was cancelled. What is worse is that the store representative my brother, sister and nephew spoke to said that they "gave the generator" to another customer. When we asked why, the rep told us that we needed to arrive 4 hours after making the reservation to secure the generator!! I told him that that is absurd especially if the online reservation application requires you to put down when you would like to pick up the reserved item! The rep agreed that it does not make sense, and his only defense is that we have this issue all the time and that the online reservation process has never been good. In closing...shop elsewhere and do not trust an inept online process by Home Depot. Know that even their representatives do not trust the process and that you should go elsewhere. I personally believe that someone knew someone that works at Home Depot, and they were able to bump our reservation for a "friend." That is extremely disappointing in general, but it is unforgivable during a crisis or in this case, a national emergency. read more

Which is a lie so I called corporate and was explained that Home Depot actually has a price match guarantee that this store was not upholding. So they started an investigation. Weeks later I received a call from corporate stating that they informed and corrected the store and now I/we should be able to price match. I bought numerous pallets bag of concrete and Home Depot charged $25 deposit plus tax per wooden pallet that the bags sit on top of. I brought in 9 pallets to return to get my money back. I have a pro account. All transactions are recorded on my account. Out of 9, they only credited me for 1 refund. They claimed I didn't pay for them. If the code they used to ring you up initially didn't match, their system wouldn't recognize that you paid them. Therefore, you didn't pay. This set up is a scam. I lost $200 worth of the deposit. Follow Up: So we went to the Home Depot Store on Skyline and they seem much more organized than the one on Pine Island. The grill was $349 while on their website it was advertised at $299. The lady we spoke to said that Home Depot Stores doesn't compete with their online prices! Crazy! So on we went to the Home Depot at the Forum in Ft. Myers. The store sales people tried their best to help us, but we ended up ordering it online on their website. We were able to get the grill shipped to us at home for $299 and we bought a brush to make the sale over $300 and I was able to get $50 off using my new Home Depot Credit Card. It was shipped to our house in a few days and we had to pick the brush up at the store. So Dave put it together and didn't have any problems. I will include a picture of the grill below! I have never had a problem here before I've spent close to 1 although I don't shop here anymore because I shop Lowe's for other this store should be named one of the best stores in Florida. They are very professional with not judge me in any way perform I own a $6 million contracting company because of the high prices of the Home Depot. I've had to stop shopping I feel bad charging my more for materials, but this one is one of the best ones in Florida and I usually would come here. I drive up to this area to buy my due to my other experiences I've had to cancel my pro card to pay off the balance. This is the only store that will treat you with dignity and respect if you're from a different race that never treated me in a terrible way they always have my lumber ready. They always have my plywood ready. They always have the right cut that I order and they always have everything that I shopping here because of my opinion and experience with the whole Home Depot company management should be very happy about the employees that they have here. Not sure if this is correct store, but it's the closest to us. We ordered hurricane impact windows after Ian. After dealing with the awesome salesman, it has been a nightmare! The windows took forever and a day to come in (and one slider panel was cracked), they sub all the work out, and every time we'd call we got the run around. After they stuccoed around the 4 windows, we were told they don't paint- "that's on you". After we had the stucco painted, it magnified the shoddy stucco job. So they sent a team out to caulk one window and it looks perfect. However, the other three windows look bad in comparison. Today they sent out a guy to look at them. He says "It's the paint. When they paint again it'll look better". It's not the paint. I will never recommend this company again. $20, 000 and I'm not happy!!! read more

I had a major project planned at my house. I scheduled vacation time from work and I ordered everything that I needed from Home Depot a month ahead of time. Their systems showed that everything would be received before I was scheduled to start my project. Instead of delivering everything that I ordered, Home Depot completely dropped the ball. I received half of my order and the other half was lost. Yet when I went to check on my order status online their web site showed that everything was fine and that I would receive everything on time. When I called customer service to ask where my supplies were they told me that they could get me everything a week later, AFTER my vacation was over and I was back at work and couldn't do the project. I had to go and find another place to buy the missing materials because Home Depot's only answer was basically, "It sucks to be you, but we won't do anything to fix our mistake." Don't ever buy anything from Home Depot if they don't have it in the store when you buy it. They will screw up your order, ruin your plans, and cost you money. I'm struggling with the rating on this one. The selection of items is great. They usually have what we need and I love the garden center. The problem is the staff. Today I needed bug spray for my garden. I asked the cashier in the garden center where I could find it (after looking all around the garden center). She snapped and said "it's over there somewhere, you just need to look around. I just cash people out I don't know where it is". So I looked around again to no avail. I went inside to the customer service desk. Three people there. One person is being waited on. One lady is talking to the man working there. I'm at the desk and they don't even acknowledge you even after I say "excuse me " twice! So I walk back and see three people talking who work there and are putting together furniture. I ask them where I can find this spray. He points to the left and said "seven". Seven what?? I didn't know what he was talking about. I assumed it was the name of the spray. I asked if I could spray it directly on plants. He laughed and said "you can spray it on vegetables if you want". I headed in the direction he pointed. Looked for a while and found it. When I went to check out the cashier said "oh you found it, sorry but I don't know where anything is, they move it every night". I hesitated to say anything but it was ridiculous. I have a hard time walking anyway so walking around the place trying to find something was hard and then to have such rude employees who couldn't have been less helpful. I thought at first it was a lack of staff but clearly there were enough standing around that one of them could have helped me. read more

I wanted a Dishwasher, I got a headache instead. 3 weeks ago I purchased a Samsung dishwasher from the Home Depot. 3 days later, I took off from work to meet the installers and have it installed. Everything appeared to be in order when they installed it, but later that night I went to do a load of dishes and some error lights came on and the dishwasher stopped working. I called Home Depot and they agreed to send another one out and rescheduled another delivery. The installation team came out, removed the old dishwasher and installed a new one. Again, everything appeared to be working. I left and went back to work. Later that evening I returned home prepared to do a load of dishes. 20 minutes into the wash cycle another set of lights comes on and the dishwasher stops working. So I looked in the owners manual and the error code said the dishwasher wasn't getting water. I checked the supply line, it was open and there was water in the dishwasher. The next day I went to the Home Depot and I spoke to someone in the appliance dept who assured me they would take care of the problem by sending someone out to our home to fix it. So days later I get to take off a third time from work to meet, what turns out to be the same installer who installed the first dishwasher. He told me it was installed properly and that I would have to contact Home Depot. At this point, I'm starting to get aggravated at all the hoops I had to jump thru to get a dishwasher. So I drove my unhappy butt down to the Home Depot and told them that I no longer wanted a Samsung Dishwasher, that I wanted a different model instead. I was told that I would have to schedule another appoint at my house to return the dishwasher and then purchase another dishwasher to be deliver and yet another date. I didn't really think it was fair that I should have to take off 2 more times from work to end up with a working dishwasher. So I told Tina the manager that arrangement would be unacceptable. They could deliver a new dishwasher and remove the non working dishwasher at the same time. I would have been willing to pay the difference for a better model. Apparently giving me a refund and allowing me to pay the difference was against Home Depot's policy. So I had to purchase another dishwasher it was Floor Model Bosch dishwasher. I was assured at the time I paid for it that the dishwasher would be scheduled for delivery as soon as we got back from vacation. Upon my return from vacation. I went in to schedule the delivery of our new Bosch Dishwasher, when I was told by Tina the General Manager that home deport doesn't deliver floor models. Needless to say I was beyond pissed off at this point. She never made an apology, she just cited company policy. I promptly told Tina that I wanted to return everything and receive a refund. She quickly passed us of to Tessa a customer service associate who was equally uninterested in delivering any type of customer service. I then went home and removed the non working Samsung myself (as it was easier than taking another half a day of work off, so that Home Depot could pick it up) retuned and received a refund. Tina the manager took special care to make sure that every hose, nut and bolt was accounted for, but she never once said I'm sorry that you had to go thru all of this. I own 2 businesses and a put tremendous value in making my customers happy. Over the course of 3 weeks, I have made at least 6 trips to the store and had at least as many phone calls. Each time Home Depot had the opportunity to solve my problem and they chose not to, each time citing this policy or that policy. My problem was that I just wanted a working dishwasher, delivered and installed just like I paid for twice. I didn't ask for anything for free. I just wanted a dishwasher. If Tina the General Manager of Home Depot cared half as much how I was affected during this process, rather than how Home Depot would be affected. They would still have a customer. I went to this home depot Thursday May 28th. My friend is in a wheelchair...very important,,, he pushes his wheel chair by hand. We wanted to go to the garden centre. The garden center is an exit. I asked the door monitor if we could go in that area, due to the fact he pushes his wheel chair by hand. Sherry/Shari said NO !! She wanted him to go in the entrance area, which is far away from the garden center & has a maze before you actually get into the store. I tried to explain the huge issue. Her demeanor was arrogant, rude, snotty. Finally, she said " this isn't worth my time" . We finally got her permission to enter. This review is specific to truck rental. The basic rate is $19 for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Much to my surprise, the clock is ticking as you are paying for walking around the truck before driving off with it, as well as when you return it. If you have to wait 5-10 minutes for someone to help you on your return, that also goes against your rental time, which I don't think is right. Note: I'm not the manager who was responsible for understaffing the store. Also, the Home Depot tool rental guy helping me sent some lady out to my truck, as she wanted to share it with me. Huh? Why would I want to share a truck on my credit card with someone I don't know? No thanks. And great idea Home Depot guy to waste additional minutes on my rental. I ended up being a few minutes over and was charged an extra $5 for the truck which I don't think is right. Even though I'm not a fan of Lowe's, you may be better off going there. For your $19, you get a truck for 1 hour and 30 minutes. That extra 15 minutes can make a difference in your total charge. I won't rent a truck from this Home Depot again. read more

So, this is the worst Home Depot I've been to. I was sorely disappointed. This location gives the HD business a bad name. I was looking for garden supplies and had multiple questions. I couldn't find an associate to help me with my questions. There was one gentleman who had answers to half of my questions but the other half, he had no clue. I understand that someone cannot know everything but surely there should be another associate who might know. They didn't. I asked for multiple bags of soil, they didn't have any bags up front, so they told me that they would bring some up from the back. It took about twenty minutes. Yes, this location is a typical Home Depot. I actually have had no problem finding someone to ask a question as to where to find an item (like, why are the staple guns in the aisle with the boating rope and not with the tools??). I like also how when asked, they take ownership for their area. Case in point; Me: Where are the electric staple guns located? HD Guy: I have some nice ones in Aisle 15. Yep, he sure did have some nice ones. So nice I left with only staples and couldn't decide on an actual staple gun. The parking lot does not have the best design, so just be careful as to who has a stop sign while you are dodging all of the people walking in and out of the store. read more

Really good place to come to, when I walk in every coworker I see has a smile. It's like they enjoy working there and helping customers. When I walk into the Lowes I don't see that. Plus Home Depot is more affordable, and I feel like with they're prices they truly want to help people with projects that need to be remodeled or built. With Lowes I feel like they want money money money with being more expensive. Home Depot is the place to shop at. Plus Wendy is such a sweet lady that workers there came right up and asked if we needed help finding anything or any questions. i rented a chain saw from Home Depot on Saturday 12/17/2022.Took Chain Saw home started using Saw when the chain fell off. I called Home Depot w ho asked me to bring it back for the chain to be placed. Now Home Depot is 5.5 miles and this incident happened twice. when I returned the second time the attendant told me it's the wrong chain is on the Saw and they don't have anymore available to switch out for the one that is not working. I spent more time getting to and from Home Depot to a total of 22 miles plus time waited for it to be fixed. With not another chain saw available I decided that I cannot keep making all these trips and I am not able to accomplish the task on hand.At the beginning of the transaction the estimated bill was $61.24. for 24 hours.Not getting to use the saw and there is no replacement saw I was charged $117.69. With not been able use the tool I feel I should not be charged, more so I am charged over and above the estimated cost and I cannot get any satisfaction from Home Depot for a refund. read more

On September 30th, 2 days after Hurricane Ian, I purchased a Ryobi 6500 watt gas generator. At first start, gas pours out behind the carburetor. I returned to Home Despot. Got my refund and purchased a Generac 6500 watt model. Engine ran but would not power even a cell phone charger. Couldn't even warm a cup of coffee. Outlet reset switches kept popping. I return again (mind you gas is really scarce at this point) and see hand written signs everywhere that say NO RETURNS that were not there yesterday. I explain to the manager that I wanted a refund so I could purchase a new generator elsewhere as i didn't think I owed Home Despot a third opportunity. He flat out refused and GET THIS...tells me its because their "system" prevented returns. I point out to Mr Helpful the return slip I have from the Ryobi. We go back and forth for a bit, getting heated, as I know hes lying to me and is more interested in his cell phone than being reasonable or ethical or helpful or even human for that matter. I would expect more considerate service even under less stressful and critical times than 2 days after a cat 4-5 hurricane has wiped out the whole area. It's pretty disgraceful that management at this location feels it is ultimately the customers responsibility to bare the financial burden of Home Despots greed and ineptitude. I even asked the manager on duty to call the store manager for permission. He said he couldnt do that because the manager was away at some Yacht Club and coudnt be bothered. DO NOT ORDER FROM HOME DEPOT ONLINE to be sent to your home!! I had an emergency and I needed lawn mower parts. They were out of stock in all the stores I searched. I ordered online and they told me it would take approximately two weeks. I did not receive my order! When I looked online it stated that it was sent a couple days before and left at my front door by FedEx. I was here at the time they said it was delivered. When I called Home Depot to tell them I did not get it they REFUSED TO GIVE ME A REFUND OR RESEND OUT THE ORDER THAT I DIDNT RECEIVE UNLESS I PAID FOR IT AGAIN! Awful! In September 2017 we requested quotes from a half-dozen roof contractors in the Fort Myers, Florida area to replace our roof damage from Hurricane Irma. We should have been leery after Home Depot waged such an aggressive campaign to get the job. Their relentless sales team provided the fastest and most competitive (lowest) price. They clearly understood our home was on a island (Upper Captiva) and they helped us select our shingles. They also seemed to fully understand our issue -- we couldn't live in the house without fixing the water damage inside the house, which couldn't be repaired until the roof leaks were mitigated by the new roof. We awarded them the job in September 2017 and were assured everything was ready to go. The first problem was that they did not start work for ten months! During this time they gave us every possible excuses for delays -- shingles not available, rain, etc. The second problem is we rarely heard from them. Rarely did the people who were supposed to speak with us actually responded to our calls or emails, despite following their directions explicitly about who to call, where to leave messages, etc. Months would go by with no responses from them about when they would start. We finally learned how to get a response -- leave angry messages with supervisors. This nightmare finally ended in mid July 2018 when Home Depot contractors finally completed the project. We're still considering suing them for damage (mold mitigation) caused by their delays. Do yourself a favor -- avoid Home Depot for your roofing job despite their attractive low prices and aggressive salesmen. read more

We've used home depot for 2 projects. Fencing and attic insulation. They hire sub-contractor companies. Both projects went horribly. The fence installed by Fence Dynamics was scratched when they installed it. Their fix was to paint it which voided the warranty. They ordered a new one which was also scratched on arrival and I refused the order. We finally just got some of our money on it. On the insulation, I was told baffles would be installed as well as a barrier at the attic access point, none of which were done. I called several times and have gotten no where, no call back. we had Home Depot come out to measure our house for windows, which they did but they mis-measured 4 times so we had to wait nearly 2 months for windows the installers did a fantastic job but the ad to come out four times and even the last time they came the bedroom windows were still wrong but the installer was talented enough to frame them is and di a wonderful job so we didn't have to wait another 3-4 weeks, then the manager told my Wife he would give us a 500.00 gift card which we never got and now Home Depot will not even answer my e-mails I would not recommend Home Depot to estimate a dog house for us or anything that had to be measured they did such a lousy job read more

In the last seven years, I have never received Customer Service at this store. Tonight was the last straw. After ordering online for a Pickup, I went to this store at 6:15pm anticipating they wouldn't be too busy. They weren't. As I stood in the Online Order line, listening their phone ring and ring and ring, I was yelled at, that I could move to the Returns line, to get assistance. So I moved to that line and when she finished with that customer, asked what I wanted. I told her I was there to pick up an Online Order. She then went to the terminal where I was previously standing, and fumbled through the PC screens, unable to locate my order. She had a printed copy of the order that I gave her, and to make a longer story shorter, she said she would need to call another person for help. I told her that my Order was right there, on a shelf behind her, but that didn't matter to her, she needed to have the PC tell her that. I left the store. read more
