What stupid people. I paid for a grill and the dingle berries they sent didn't know the code to unlock the pad lock so I could take what I purchased. 92 degrees out too. The workers said oh new Store manager won't give them the code. I requested the new manager oh not available. So typical of that jerkoff. So I said well I'm done and will refund my purchases. Even the customer service team said the new GM was an a-hole. I went to Miller Road and they knew all about the horrible management team in Claymont store and I was in and out with my new grill. This Home Depot has the worse customer service ever even at the checkout counters. My brother and I went there in the afternoon to rent out a carpet cleaner, there were 3 workers standing around the area but only 1 counter was open. They'd rather just stand there than serve or help customers... even when they served us, I can slowly feel my energy being drained away by the unwillingness of these employees. Not sure if they aren't getting paid enough or taking enough breaks?? But definitely expect to waste standing around waiting about 30mins to just get someone to help. They have NO customer service! We asked and asked for help with an almost $500 door on a Friday afternoon - nothing and no one . Finally after smashing my finger trying to help my husband and screaming "does anybody work here!" A very nice young woman came to help, but it was not her area, but she tried and made sure to tell us to ask for help loading at the register, when I asked I was told - they're out there, they'll help.....ha! It amazes me that the customer service at Home Depot is so poor. This is not my 1st review of them but I did select another store to buy from - no difference, just poor customer service. So I ordered 500 sq ft of their Pergo Outlast + Flooring on line, not cheap, but a $1300 sale or could have been. I called the store to check on stock, after 16 minutes on hold they hung up on me - ok mistakes happen. So I call back, I'm on hold again for 13 minutes when you here someone pick up the phone then just hang up. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! I cancel the online order and hopefully Lowe's can do a better job. I used to love this store but two times now I've went in for paint and the Behr rep harasses me about politics. You have to wonder how many other customers he's doing this to. The problem is that he engages you in any given subject and somehow makes it into a political issue, and at first, you think it's just a light hearted conversation. But the moment you disagree in the slightest with what he's saying, he's starts getting angry and insulting you with comments like "Oh, you're one of those" and rolls his eyes like a little child. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I have tried to pick up multiple orders via curbside pick up. They have never come to my car. I always have to go inside and wait in line for something that should be ready. If you want to buy something from there don't pre-order it go in and find it yourself. It will be much faster. Very nicely laid out Home Depot in the middle of the formerly industrial town of Claymont DE, surrounded by a Total Beverage, variety stores, and the rest. And tax free. There is always a flurry of DIYs in that part of the state, primarily a blue collar section, and as a result, the employees have to have their stuff together. I found them more knowledgeable than in some of the other box stores and friendlier. Their tool crib is awesome. Plenty of parking, plenty of supplies, plenty of shopping. read more

We arrived, called the number as posted on the signs..that took about 10 minutes for someone to answer the phone. Someone took our information down and then began wait. Over an hour. Consistent with service. Greeted by employee don't enter business when in fact it was approximately 3 (three) before the posted closing time. Another visit the large sign read EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY. Management instructed me to enter that direction. There's a disconnect. Management doesn't take the rules seriously, they can't read, and/or they assume I can't read. Management stated to their customer, : I don't care what you think" Maybe like Coach Andy Reed, he felt like he was smartest individual in the room. He may well be but lacked in the helpful customer service. I was confused on this customer service and asked to speak to a regional manager. I'm sorry, but I expect a real cashier to check out my purchases. Not only do automated check outs eliminate jobs (and they don't lower their prices one bit), but you actually end up working for Home Depot without pay. Remember when self pump gas came out? 20,000 Americans lost their jobs, but you got $.05 a gallon off the full service lane. Gradually that disappeared, and you were left working for the gas company with no benefits. Only one real manned check out in the whole building. I will avoid this place in the future. At least Lowes has 2, sometimes 3, real people to bag your items and provide your receipt. read more

I've gone to this particular location many times for construction materials most cement products. Most times I am disappointed with what I experience. They are often out of certain items, most time there selection is in the middle of the floor not even put on shelf. The bags are often broken so you have to sift through the bags that are not leaking or if on a upper self you can't reach in the back to pull them off. That area is just a mess. There are many other places to get these products so you won't waste your time. read more

Your typical Home Depot, but the service here is super helpful. All of the workers will go out of their way to help you out with whatever you need. My only complaint is that they close off aisles in the middle of the day for a long amount of time. We had to wait over a half hour just to get a hose, but the aisle was closed off when we got there, so who knows how long it actually was. read more

The cashiers are great but the floor staff leaves much to be desired. If I ask a question they'll answer it in the shortest way possible and leave me hanging as I look for the next person to answer my next question. They usually want nothing to do with customers, especially if they're already occupied, even with the most mundane of tasks. Although these vices surely doesn't apply to the whole floor staff, it's been the case in the majority of scenarios here. read more

My overall experience with Home Depot (Claymont, DE) was POOR. When I placed an order for flooring, the wood that I selected was a special order. I was told it would take up to 2 weeks to get delivered to the store. They were going to call me when the floors were in, so my contractor could pick it up. Almost a month went by and I never got a call. I called multiple times to check the status and 3 different people told me that the order was scheduled for 7/1 (today is July 13th), and it might be "in the back." Apparently sometimes they get orders and they aren't updated in the system, so they just sit in their warehouse. Two separate people were going to check and call me back...no one called. I understand that things get delayed, but there is no excuse for leaving the customer without an updated ETA, or a return call, so I could have updated my contractor. After I got the measurement, I got a couple of calls a day, asking if I was going forward with the order. After they got my money, I had to stalk them to find out what was going on with my order that three weeks late! It's a month later and I have no clue what's going on...or if my order is just sitting in their warehouse. (apparently they don't know either...which is baffling to me) P.S. On a positive note, a guy named Mike (in flooring) found my order in the warehouse. He actually called me back. Who knows how long the order was sitting back there, before Mike went back to look for it... read more

I was issued an approximately $164 Home Depot store credit like six months ago and put it in my wallet with my other cards. I forgot I had it in my wallet and the PIN number became illegible over time. When I finally went to use it, neither the store cashiers nor I could figure out the PIN. They, however, were able to scan the store credit card balance and gave me a series of markdowns approximating the $164 in credit that I had coming. They also assured me that I would get the markdown back on any returned items. Everything was good, until I went to return some of the items and the amount that I was refunded was approximately $140 less than it should have been because, it turns out, markdowns are not refundable. I explained the situation to Home Depot Manager Jim Fitz. Jim could care less about me losing out on the $140 or so dollars. He refused to help me. Jim said the reason I could not originally use the store credit is because I damaged the store credit card and that the Home Depot was not responsible for damaged cards. I argued that just because a PIN number 3 looks like an 8 or a 1 looks like a 7 does not mean that the card is damaged, and that an illegible PIN on a store credit card should not mean that I should lose out on the $140. Jim, however, still refused to help me. I told Jim that all he had to do was tick and tie the amounts to the items that I returned to the purchase receipt to determine the amount that I was owed. Jim, however, told me that doing so was "not worth" his time. Mind you again that Jim is a store manager and that he told me, his customer, that doing right by me was "not worth" his time. I then spoke to Jason, the overall store manager. Jason was much more understanding than Jim and actually cared about resolving the issue. Jason would also not tick and tie the purchase and return receipts but he gave me what he thought was an approximate store credit to rectify the situation. The store credit that Jason offered to resolve the situation was very conservative in favor of the store and not me the customer. When I later tick and tied the two receipts at home and determined that I was due an additional $19, I then returned to the store about a week later and I asked Jim if he would give me an additional $19 store credit. Jim outright refused to do so. When I told him that "Don't you care about doing right by your customers?" he said that he did not in this situation. When I then asked him for his full name and told him that I was posting this online review he again told me "I don't care". I then talked to Jason again and he almost immediately gave me a $20 store credit. Jim actually cared to help me. Jim, however, could care less. read more

Bought 8 appliances with all the warranties. The refrigerator was ordered as 36 inch the size of the opening. So we get it home when the doors open 1.5 inches more space needed ' So I can not use the Fridge. Pick it up Wed after work at 630 pm return Sat at 3 pm With it. They won't look at me or talk to me sent a manager who said thats buyers remorse and we are not going to help you. I want to return it for the 33-inch slim version I should have been sold. Gammet of excuses this is a 48-hour return. This was ordered online. I bought from there sales person. Must speak to Kim she is the manager. returned 3 days in a row at 1 pm. She was off for personal reasons. She and her whole staff are ignorant and too lazy to do any work. The store needs to find managers who want to keep clients. They will not take it back 2000.00 Fridge . 30,000.00 Spent there this year remodeling my home. They said that has nothing to do with this.... What! The wife and I went to the Brandywine store in Claymont De with the intentions of spending a considerable about of money on a barbecue grill, patio set and outdoor fire table. We finally agreed on a patio set and couldn't find it on the shelf. We hunted around to find an associate for assistance. We finally found 3 associates standing around not doing much of anything. They seemed upset that I interrupted gossip time and when I explained what I was looking for they were honest and said they had no idea where to even send me. I figured they would offer to find someone who did but no I had to ask. They called the seasonal manager who rudely told us that extra sets could be found outside in lawn and garden but he didn't know what isle. Not once did he look to see if we over looked the patio set nor did he offer to walk us to the other location. I left and drove down to Lowe's where they not only helped me find what I wanted but loaded it into my truck for me. Guess I know where I'll be shopping from now on. read more

Bought a washing machine from this place. They told us that they did installation and we even paid 60 dollars for it, but later we found out that they actually don't, and returned to get our money back. No problem with the money back, it was just a hassle as this place isn't exactly the closest to our house. Home Depot sold me a water heater that died immediately after the manufacturers warranty. So i call regarding the protection plan and they tell me to call the number on the back of my Home Depot card to get a copy of my receipt. Naturally the copy of the receipt they faxed me doesn't have a receipt number, and that's what i need for the protection plan. They keep sending me in circles. I'm starting to think they know what they're doing and I'm now out $400...Don't but appliances from Home Depot. read more

Bought a dishwasher...the kiosk in the appliance department knew more about the units then the sales guy did (first warning), sales guy asked a bunch of questions that made sense about the water hook-up and sold me the 'special kit' to ensure all would be well (smelled funny - second warning), multiple re-schedules to deliver (third warning)...guys show up - "we can't hook this up...we'll just leave it". They got sent packing WITH the dishwasher. Way to blow it HD! read more
