I really appreciate their upfront, honest feedback and the time they take to explain options instead of just trying to make a sale. I try really hard to support local business and local jobs. I could easily order everything on Amazon where I expect to receive zero customer service. It seems every single time I come in this store and ask a question, the employees don't know the answer or are "staffing a different section because they are short handed." A week ago I went in and asked if they had fertilizer for my sky pencil holly bushes. The garden center employee said he didn't know what any of that was. I said Holly-Tone is what I'm looking for. He looked it up on his tablet and told me to go look for it myself inside because it's not in the Garden Center. So, I immediately left and bought it on Amazon. Same price, delivered to my door, no frustrating lack of customer service. ------This is the mission statement of Home Depot: The Home Depot is in the home improvement business and our goal is to provide the highest level of service, the broadest selection of products and the most competitive prices. My husband and I visited this location another time to buy a Traeger Grill. The associate who helped told us it would be fully assembled and delivered to our house, more specifically, in the location of our choosing which would be the backyard. We were told it would be delivered on Wednesday, June 21. I was home all day, waiting for it. My husband said the tracker reported that the grill had been delivered. It was indeed delivered. It was sitting in the middle of my front yard in the grass in the rain. No one rang the doorbell to at least let me know it was outside. I immediately called the 800 number for customer service. This associate was very nice and told me that the store delivered it themselves and not via a 3rd party. She put me in contact with the store. She was polite, listened to my concerns, and directed me to the store I purchased it at. She did a nice job of diffusing my anger at this situation. I spoke with the manager, Kendra. I was very upset that our grill had not only been dragged over our grass, but had been deposited in the middle of the yard without my knowledge for anyone with a truck and a couple of strong people to possibly steal. This was not the highest level of customer service Home Depot promises in their mission statement nor what we were told at the time of purchase. Kendra proceeded to double down on 1) It was a 3rd party delivery service and she's not responsible for them 2) They never deliver grills to a backyard, it's always curbside only and 3) No associate told us that it would be delivered any other way and we were wrong. Kendra repeatedly argued with me during our call and she interrupted me every time I tried to speak which escalated my anger over the situation. I was never able to calmly tell her my situation and her interruptions and telling me I was wrong were not helpful. I got disconnected and had to have my husband deal with her. She doubled down with him on her same positions as before and interrupted him many times during the encounter. He had to actually yell at her to get her to stop and listen to the situation. Ultimately, the 2 person delivery team returned to our house and delivered the grill to the backyard as we had been promised. I felt bad for this team - they were well past middle age, not in the best shape and that grill was heavy for them so they basically dragged it back to the backyard. I could see why they rolled it up my grass in the first place. They were as polite and nice as could be, but not really qualified or using appropriate body mechanics to be delivering heavy items safely. I am very disappointed in my recent visits to this store. Employees do not seem to have much knowledge of the products in the departments they staff, employees do not all give the same/correct information regarding deliveries and purchases, managers don't seem to possess much managerial skills, and I frequently see employees standing around scrolling on their phones. My experience with someone who was supposed to be in a position of management was full of conflict, doubling down on why I was wrong and she was right, and zero effort at diffusing a customer's anger when their $900 purchase was delivered on a lawn, in the rain for it to possibly be stolen. $900 is not an insignificant amount to spend. We deserved a much better experience. It used to be a lot of fun shopping at Home Depot. It used to be one of my favorite stores. The employees used to have some expertise in the departments they staffed and managers actually helped customers. If I have to stand in a store googling the items I need for a project and the manager just argues with me when there is a real problem with my items, then what's the point? I might as well purchase what I want on Amazon where I can expect and receive zero customer service. read more

We bought countertops and the estimate the initial estimate was way off by $2000. Then we decided to get the countertops and not go with the two other quotes we got, and I wish we had gone with one of the other quotes. The installation process was horrible. I placed an online order for a Ryobi fan for store pick up. Twenty minutes later I get a text and an email saying my order was cancelled because they did not have the product in stock. When I ordered the app said that there were 3 of them in stock. When I called the store they basically said if the stock is that low it is most likely wrong and they do not have the item. This has happened multiple times with various products in the store when the app says they have the item and I call or go in and no one can find it. Find a way to be more accurate with inventory because I am sure I am not the only person this happens too. read more

Very upset with Home Depot for multiple reasons 1. Had ordered 3 toilets to be delivered to my house for installation later and all 3 toilets had already been cracked and broken upon arrival 2. Rude Hispanic Delivery drivers, who disrespected me in my own home and would not install the appliance, while it sat in my driveway. Aye- Carruba! So ticked I cancelled any re-delivery, asked for refund...took 4 attempts finally some at Corporate got it right...SURPRISE...three weeks to wait for my refund...imagine that ! I have never had a negative experience with the cashiers or customer service desk employees. However, my struggle is finding someone on the floor for assistance. Very rude and short staff to say the least. I understand that the employee turnover is high but my goodness was it bad.

I order a Whirlpool dishwasher and paid for the haul away of the existing unit and the installation kit and they tell me that I have to physically lift the dishwasher out and have it ready by the front door for them to pick it up. Seriously? What kind of service is that? I can't physically do that and that defeats the purpose of paying for the haul away because companies will pick them up for free. Then the delivery guy tells me that he can't unwrap the unit for me, in order for me to inspect it. I call the store and the store representative is telling me that I had to inspect it and that they won't take it back. Now I have my old unit still sitting in place and the new unit that I don't know if it's damaged or not sitting in a box. I called the delivery service while they were here and I was told that I have to call the store to Schedule installation. I call the store and the representative says "don't you have someone that can take out the old unit for you". NO I don't have anyone else to take it out for me, it's rude to assume so, and if they can't fix this, they need to take back the unit and refund me in full so I can take my business elsewhere. I spent over $600, I have a credit card with them and I purchase their exclusive brands, such as TTI, North America, yet if this is what the call customer service, I will no longer shop at HomeDepot. read more

I ordered a new washer and drier in June. The woman that placed my order in the store checked the availability and said they were in stock but because of Covid it would be just over a month before they could be delivered. She put a note in the work order that we live on a US Army Base and that everyone would need a valid ID to enter the base. That was fine. I asked for the day off from work for the delivery. Two days prior to delivery, July 20th, I got a text from Home Depot that said the delivery was on schedule so my husband and I took out our old appliances and discarded them. The next day, July 21st, they sent me a text that said they were back ordered a whole month. So I missed a day of work for nothing and now we don't have a washer or drier for a month. We had to take time out of our day and pay for laundry service. The next delivery date is August 19th. I ask for the day off from work again. The delivery driver calls me and tells me he can't get in because he doesn't have a valid ID. So there's a company that Home Depot contracts deliveries with that allows people to drive a truck without a license. We were forced to reschedule AGAIN. I was assured this would not happen again. I ask for ANOTHER day off from work. August 22nd the company calls me again and tells me AGAIN that the driver does not have a valid ID and cannot enter AGAIN. I have now missed 3 days of work yet they expect me to pay for these appliances. My manager is pissed that I keep having to ask for days off especially as in the midst of Covid it's hard enough to get people to show up for work. But now I still have to go to a laundromat. And there's no word on when our appliances will arrive. read more

If I could give this Home Depot a zero I would. They were defective in installing front storm doors and main doors, admitted as much after sending a team to review the installation and then told me they were going to file a warranty claim. Months went by and I never heard back from them. When I called I was told the woman who worked on the file had been out and no one knew what was going on but would look into it. A second lady who took over the file said she would look into things and get back to me. She didn't and more weeks passed. Instead, after I called the store an assistant manager called me back and said he was taking over the file from both women and to deal with him. Except he claimed to not know anything about the file and asked me to explain everything from the beginning. When I asked him had he read the file including any notes about the installation being defective he said no he had not but would. I told him unless the store destroyed what was in the the file everything in it would back up my claim. I received another call from the assistant manager telling me the report from the employees Home Depot had sent to confirm the installation was defective was now "missing" from the file. Worse still one of the two women I was not allowed to talk to was secretly on the call. I found that out when the assistant manager had to briefly leave the call to talk to another customer and the woman who I previously spoke to said he would be right back. I told the assistant manager that was sketchy and the conversation deteriorated. During that conversation I learned that the warranty claim on the doors had been denied by the warranty company. I asked the assistant manager to send me the paperwork and he did. The paperwork showed one reason that warranty claim was denied was because Home Depot's installation was allegedly defective. Nonetheless, the assistant manager insisted on putting me through the paces of another inspection by Home Depot to substitute for the lost inspection that presumably found that the installation was faulty. This seemed highly suspect to me but I agreed to let the assistant manager arrange for the inspection to occur by today. After no one from Home Depot called I called the assistant manager several times and was told he would call me back when he got in. He didn't. At 8:45 pm I called the assistant manager and was able to reach him. He claimed he hadn't gotten any of my verbal messages and chided me for not leaving him an email. He then at first said he never agreed to have an inspector come out today. When I asked how he hoped to keep his promise to me to resolve this by today if no inspector showed up to provide him with information he backed off and said he had called an inspector, didn't know why they didn't show up, but would call. He apologized and said he would get back to me. It took several more attempts during the call before he finally committed to update me Monday at 1:00 pm. Months ago when Home Depot appeared to be acting in good faith I purchased another interior door from them that was delivered defective. I turned it away before it could be installed. Then I got a call from an assistant manager urging me to take the defective door at a discount which I refused. The assistant manager told me it would be a year before I could get another interior door like that. I got one from Lowe's delivered without defects two/three months after I ordered it. This latest experience with the exterior door installation has been horrible and is continuing. I would not ever have Home Depot install anything for me. read more

We just moved from Virginia to Maryland (I know, why?). We need to replace all of the carpet in the house that we bought and everyone I work with recommended the Home Depot on Urbana Pike. I'm very glad that we did. The store manager Brandi Kurtz spent time helping us choose the right carpet and hardwood flooring for our needs. She was a real life saver, so much so that I gave her a hug afterwards. We have since returned about a dozen times for supplies for paint, plumbing, electrical, lumber, etc... As an avid do-it-myselfer, I like a good, convenient Home Depot. Well actually, no Home Depot is THAT convenient for me, as we live out in a rural area... Nevertheless, this one in Frederick does not disappoint! While not the best, I've probably acquired enough stuff here to literally build a house. Their building materials selection has always been decent and the boards relatively straight. That's important--straight lumber! Means you don't have to cull through the stacks of 2x4s looking for some that won't make your walls look as if they were built by a toddler. I've even had to return the odd item or two from time to time and was never given any hassle. From ductwork to electrical supplies to doors to insulation to drywall and plywood, and much more, I've picked it up on many Friday night runs to this Frederick's Home Depot. We've even bought some plants and landscaping items here. Virtually all my experiences here have been good. The sales associates have been mostly friendly and a few times, when I've had a large load of materials, they've offered to help me load. Bottom line - for what it is -- a large-chain home improvement warehouse -- I have no major issues with this store and will make future trips here for what I need to do my never-ending list of projects. read more

Everytime we come it's always something different. Returning items (which there is some that do not do returns. We always come back to this establishment for that specific reason), buying all kinds of hardware, tools, paintings, crafting materials or work things! Every single time we have needed help we always get more help then what we ask for!!! I asked for assistance to unload my truck with the heavy tiles that I wanted to return. At customer service, the lady (Dawn) had to page for someone not once but twice. No one showed up. After loading 3 carts of pressure treated lumber totaling over $900 we asked a salesperson to get another pallet of 6x6 wood to finish our purchase. He took us to the back where they brought another pallet. He watched as I helped my husband pick these 10 foot 6X6 posts and then told the other worker they would leave them outside. He did not feel like putting them in the store. Then when we were loading a young lady was outside who worked at the store. She was watching as a vet and his wife were struggling to load their truck. The vet was on a walker. My husband and I helped this elderly couple. Another home depot employee watched past us twice and then as we were strapping our load down decided to ask if we needed help. Only reason you get a one is because there are no negative numbers. So I buy a bathroom fan and it is manufactured wrong. Clearly It is wrong because the video you watch and the fan are 2 different and obviously wrong. I ask the manager for help and show him the issue and his response is what do you want me to do about it? Really how about you get up and we walk back and see if we can't find a solution together instead of basically it's your problem and Home Depot can't help. On my way out the 2 customer service people,another employee and the manager were there and the manager says to the employee (I guess I could have ask you to help the guy with the fan issue) and then they dispersed and they appeared to be having fun time at my expense. I went back and opened several other boxes and they all were wrong. So now you will have other customers with the same issue. I ask for the managers bosses phone number and I was told they didn't have it. So the manager of the store has no access to his boss. I have been in customer service and a manager for 45 years and this is the worst experience I've ever had with a manager. Apparently customers are not your focus. Can you send me a copy of your mission statement so I can understand why I would be treated this way. By the way I was #1 in customer service 4 years in a row at my company and we have over 800 stores in the United States, so yes I do know about customer service and took pride in it. Bought a dryer from here in September. The dryer has still not been properly installed and it is January and they came out 4 times, including LG. The 3rd party vendor they have had to install the dryer us constantly rude and disrespectful. You say 1 thing and they blame things on you and they don't even bother checking the issue afterwards. I would never EVER recommend someone to buy an appliance from here. If you do, DEFINITELY watch them and double check EVERYTHING they do because they dont even test the washer or dryer after installation and say it is good. (I have witnessed that 3 times nine and have had them turn it on or do it myself). I have found the dryer exhaust hose not properly installed and it is still leaking air (I looked up a youtube video and simply saw 3 things they didn't do, such as twist the dryer vent duct into place, use proper size tape, and screw the clips for the hose). Also, they never hooked up the steam hose and took the parts back with them so we had to wait 3 months for them to hook a hose up. I just want everything to be resolved and do in a calm respectful manner, this whole process has been utterly ridiculous!! read more

Amazing. I purchased a couple sanding sponges and left them at the self checkout like an idiot. Got home and called Home Depot as soon as I realized. Wendy was amazing. She let me know that products left are placed back into the isle. I thought that was where it ended and I would have to purchase again... nope! They have plenty of staff who stand around, but they do not help you. I waited 40 minutes to get the "outdoor carpet roll" cut to 6' (Asked 3 separate staff members). It never happened so I picked up the small roll walked to customer service asked for a razor (Which the actually handed to me ! Really! ) I then walked to the tool section measured the length with a tape measure and then used a square and cut it on the floor. Took a picture of the price per sq (they are supposed to fill out a ticket). I walked to the registered told him the length (showed him the picture of the skew) and paid for it. Went to the store and paid for 3 toilets and their installation. I chose the toilets based on Consumer Reports and other ratings. Home Depot sent 3 different toilets with the installer to my home (I had to take time off work for the installers)- NOT as good as the ones I ordered. I said, "nope, I want the ones I paid for." The installer left, it's been almost 2 weeks since I paid for my toilets and no word, NOTHING from Home Depot. Just spent 30 minutes trying to get someone on the phone, got jacked around between departments, hung up on, no one knows anything. I will be returning to the store for a refund. This is regards to an order I placed at the Home Depot in Frederick MD. 12 days after my order was placed and the morning of scheduled delivery I received a call from someone at the Frederick location saying that of the 67 pavers I ordered, they are 15 shy. It was obvious per our conversation that someone screwed up because they had 12 days to get these 15 pavers. I was told that since I paid with debit card I'd need to go by the store for a refund. I asked for the materials they do have to be delivered and I'd try and locate more pavers to cover the 15 they didn't have. Well, other Home Depot stores close by had the pavers but I was told they could not do transfers from one to another store because of Covid. Around 5pm I had not heard from anyone nor has anything been delivered. I called the store and spoke to someone who put me on hold and didn't come back so I called again and spoke to the first person who said the materials would be delivered but will be 15 shy. She put me on hold and after waiting 8 minutes I hung up and called manager. He did answer the phone and said he would look into this and call me back. He never called but I did hear from someone else who said the delivery driver (evidently they source out deliveries) ran out of time to make my delivery and it would be 10 days until they can deliver. Needless to say, I was shocked especially when they said the driver won't take for another 10 days when he's the one who ran out of time. I should have gone elsewhere to get my goods but instead asked them to have another store make the delivery, since they have all of the pavers anyway. I was told this was set up but still need to wait my turn for delivery. I do not like writing bad reviews and won't unless I feel others may benefit from my experience and here it's beneficial to just do business elsewhere. Home Depot is huge and I feel sure no one will reply to my review. No problem, I went to Lowes yesterday and found that there inventory is much better than in the past and now will be my go to for the next project. read more

They are extra friendly and all the staff always greets and asks me if I needed help with anything all the time I am there. The other day when I was there on Easter Sunday I thought I had to buy a new water hose because the female side broke off. The worker there said it could be repaired and showed me what to buy and how to repair it. He was very knowledgable and instead of costing me $40 for a new hose I only spent $4 for a part to repair my hose. I was completely unsatisfied with my visit. The store manager, Brandi Kurtz, let our sale walk right out the door. We are military members and our sales associate, Selena, did her best to convince Brandi to give us the extra 10% off of the sale price of our refrigerator because Lowe's will do that. Brandi told Selena that we need to get a written quote from Lowe's and bring it back before she would price match it. Selena even tried calling Lowe's and acting as a customer to verify that they would include the military discount with their sales prices but this was not good enough for Brandi the store manager. Selena and I were shocked that the store manager was being so ridiculous. We told them that if we were going to Lowe's to get a quote that we were just going to buy the refrigerator over there...and that's exactly what we did.
