My favorite hardware/home improvement store in Gainesville. Friendly staff, good selection and great prices.

In July, I went to Home Depot to see about getting countertops and new cabinets for my kitchen. I just got them finished last week. It was a horrible experience, my first time there the kitchen designer told me the cabinets I picked out were horrible and tacky we went with someone else another designer. Their design designers are only available a couple of days a week so if you have a question, you have to wait the following week till they come back that was very inconvenient. The manager would not offer any assistance after you paid for the cabinets it seems like once you paid for for everything, they basically didn't help you much anymore after that they sent the vent and installer noticed that I called them up and they said it would take a week to get it. I went to Home Depot that night and pick it up because it was right there. They wouldn't allow the installer to come back and put it in. I had to wait for another person there small Appliance person to come out that took a couple of weeks. The installer of cabinets did a great job. Are there an independent contractor separate from Home Depot. Countertops took a while, gave me two dates and canceled each time stay at home person that would've been fine, but I took off work each time so I was a lot of time. The project took months shouldn't have taken that long. My countertops were delivered in eight days, but it took me two months to get them installed. That's on Home Depot. Communication was poor service was terrible. The manager was downright rude so if you don't mind waiting, I'm taking forever. Use Home Depot. read more

We bought an LG refrigerator after determining it was the best price and fit our needs. we had to cancel the first delivery date but it was rescheduled for a week later. That delivery date had to be rescheduled, per Home Depot. The rescheduled day arrived and we sat at our house waiting for them to bring in our new purchase. After 15 minutes, in which we believed they were offloading our fridge, we heard the truck leave our Drive! NO knock, just a note hanging on our door that we weren't home. Yes we were! it was reschedule for the following Monday, only after I stood in the yard screaming we were home, did they off load a fridge that had 2 dents in it, one huge and compromising. Rescheduled for the 5th time a WEEK later, it was delivered. However, we had paid for the door hinge to be changed but it wasn't on the Invoice they had, and we did show our invoice in which we had paid for the reversal! They couldn't do it at that time and left again, and we are waiting for a 6th event for them to return and fix the door. DO NOT BUY FROM HOME DEPOT. You will take Several days off from work, lose hundreds of dollars of food, and still be horribly unhappy after 3 weeks without a fridge! GO TO LOWES! read more

Needed some things from Home Depot recently, so headed into the store. This store has been here for a number of years, but the approaches to the parking lot are atrocious. I am pretty sure we can thank the city of Gainesville for that mess. Inside the store it is pretty straightforward, just like every other Home Depot out there. All I needed was some hardware this time around, and that is what I went and found. I have been in here before and needed help, and the associates in the store usually know where things are, though if you get someone new they may have to ask someone who has been there for a while. No issues with the store. They have what is needed for the most part, though sometimes you may have a specialty item that they simply do not carry, which is to be expected. read more

$800 for a ONE DAY rental of a back hoe... the machine was governed out, we originally rented it for. a week, took it back because it wouldn't break small tree roots, charged for the first 4 days, were told the last 3 were free I guess. whatever....it's a POS. read more

Went in to buy bathtub refinishing paint. I had forgotten my reading glasses so I asked the assistant in the paint department to tell me if I needed anything else as I was buying a paint kit. She said no, everything was in the box. When I got home I found there were lots of things I needed but didn't have. I went today to the other Home Depot near Tower Road. Again I asked for help with this. I was told to use rollers which I bought. I came home and start the project. Then the roller fell apart and left little peaces all over. Don't the staff get trained anymore???? Never going back! read more

This is a nice store, but never really busy whenever I go. I'm not familiar with the layout of this particular store as this is not my regular HD, so I can understand the frustration. However, the restrooms were clean for a quick stop while we were in the area. The staff was friendly and asked if my mom and I needed help by a few employees. And although we didn't, it was just impressive that we were asked. I would definitely go back. read more

Our freezer crapped out and we ended up going to this Home Depot to get a new one. We located the one we needed pretty quickly and went up to self service to purchase the item. We are giving this Home Depot a five star review because of the excellent service of Abby who went above and beyond to assist us to get the freezer from way in the back of the store up on a shelf out to our vehicle. this employee, Abby, is the perfect example of excellent customer service and Home Depot should be grateful that she is working there and takes her job and customers so seriously. read more

I loathe this store. I can never find what I'm looking for and if I do they are either out of it or don't stock enough of it. I find that the employees here don't go out of their way to assist you or ask if you need help. Last night I picked up 16 cases of laminated flooring The two kids in the department would rather play with the forklift at a snail's pace and watch me lift all those packages myself rather than take two minutes to help an old geezer (me) and my buddy (leaning on his cane) load a cart. After pushing over 500 lbs of flooring through a maze of aisles that were cluttered with carts full of other stuff blocking my way to the checkout we finally arrived to a smiling young lady at the self service area. It was cool she was able to scan my items so they showed up quickly on the register. I didn't realize at this moment how inconvenient using cash as going to be. Do you know how long and tedious it is to put over $600 in twenty dollar bills into that damn machine? I will admit however; that it took approximately and eighth of the time it took the two kids to get one item down with the forklift. Albeit still frustrating. Wondering if I could have had a full service cashier, a glance across the front of the store revealed only the "Pro" aisle had a cashier. Oh well, I'm almost outta here right? On the way out, the forklift kids were cruising their big yellow rig in front of the cashiers area -strutting their stuff - flagman included. I asked if they had anymore of the molding that I needed. The kid said that he could call the other store and I could pick it up there. I don't see the point in that. I don't really want to drive all the way to the other side of town. Couldn't you just order it and I can pick it up tomorrow or something? Nope. He could only hold it from the other store. On the way to my truck a store patron who was already mad about the poorly engineered parking lot wasn't very courteous and made us stop because he is sure vehicles have the right of way over pedestrians or he is a very important person. You know how hard it is to stop a cart with 500 lbs on it? Did you see the guy with a cane? What a jerk. I can blame the engineering firm that designed the parking lot. You have to drive way around the outsides of the lot to get in. Customers are irate just getting parked because of all the zigging and zagging you have to do. Yes, I ended up going to the other store in town (west side) because I needed the molding. I've been in that store a dozen times and it's a much better experience than this store (north side). A store employee was quick to ask me if I needed help then double checked me on installation instructions. There was a real cashier available and I was next. Home depot is my go to home improvement store when I need anything for the house. I do end up having to go a couple times when working on large projects, and the staff is always very helpful when looking for something specific. The customer service team is also great when I end up purchasing the wrong item, and then need to come back and return it. read more

Is it weird that I love the smell inside? Something about the smell of fresh cut lumber just makes me giddy. Home Depot has an awesome selection and prices on everything. I make so many random trips here... It's super convenient and they are open pretty late so that works well with my schedule. Sometimes they have these workshops for kids which I really need to check out...I've got lots of little boys in my house and they will need to be able to wield a tool when they get older! read more

The store is welcoming and well lit. Nobody in the tile department asked to help me so I helped myself unsuccessfully so I threw myself out there and it worked. The sole associate in the tile department multi tasked and took care of me and about 3 or 4 more people at the same time. They didn't have what I needed but he sure did exhaust his resources to check and help me. read more

Yeah. its a big box. This one has two silly little kiosk things out front built to satisfy the overlay code. Fail. So, its almost new, there was a guy at the door making sure you got a cart and greeting (thats new for Home Depot for sure) but their tile sales/selection fell down on the job and I went elsewhere. read more

NIce clean new store the staff all seems to be fairly young so they don't seem to know much if you have questions but there always friendly and the store is emasculate. The parking lot is hard to get in and out of and seems to have way too many speed bumps read more

The staff here are rude dismissive and couldn't care less about helping customers especially one extremely rude older gentleman with a white beard by the name of John who clearly saw I needed help and ignored me multiple times then when I asked he said he was too busy helping the Obviously well off guy in a tie. there was also a younger heavyset black lady who seemed like she was more interested in her phone than helping me find a screw driver. one younger guy would have helped but was in need of the bathroom. Over all dismissive rude poorly trained staff. I left furious and more or less satisfied they did not have what i needed determined by my self with absolutely no help from any staff who just seemed to be waiting out the clock to get paid. I ordered online and thought I could get it over lunch. Service desk spent 10 minutes with person in front of 2 of us and then didn't say anything but started making calls etc for another 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile several of us are waiting for 20+ minutes with all employees looking way too comfortable at returns etc. I left as I don't have 2 hours over lunch to work with them. I just had a new kitchen floor installed by Home Depot at the 441 store behind the Subway in North Gainesville. Matt in flooring was extremely knowledgeable and calm in guiding me to the right product. I love my new floor which was beautifully installed in just one day. The reviews I have read talk of lack of response to customers...the salespeople are generally getting many requests and calls and have to respond to the person who contacts them first. I think the store is very nicely laid out and bright. You can certainly get what you need. Perhaps not right this second, but there are other people in the world. I love this place. It is new, clean, no lines and there are very few people ever there. They sell the same stuff as any other Home Depot, just in a better atmosphere. I wish a few more people would go there so they do not close. read more

About 3 weeks ago I parked my trailer that I haul behind my car in their parking lot so I could go inside and ask for any ideas or referrals for how to re-do the hinges on the door. New hinges had just been installed but the door that had previously opened so easily was becoming stuck and was very difficult to open. With management approval, two men who work there.... FIXED IT. And it has opened and closed with ease ever since. A third worker installed an interior locking system so that when I work my festivals I can stay in the trailer, which I plan to be installing small windows in. I seriously want to THANK these three miracle workers and the angels who approved their workmanship to help me. read more

Soooo before you go into this store to buy any major appliance, I wanted to let you know my experience. I'm going to be very transparent. I spent 922.91 on a washing machine and dryer. Mind you from my salary this isn't chump change. Well the day has come for our appliances to arrive. Problem # 1 the delivery guy can't install the dryer because he doesn't have a flat vent. So I now have to go to the store to figure it out. Again why is this my problem after spending a grip. Just wait though it gets better. Problem # 2 the washing machine was installed. The delivery guy runs the washing machine for a cycle and leaves. 30 mins later I come to check in on the machine and there is water all over my kitchen floor, and the carpet in front of the machine in the hallway is soaked. I get a knock on the door that water is leaking from my apartment down to the neighbors. Maintenance man comes and discovers that the washing machine was installed improperly. The hose from the washing machine was never secured with a tie to the wall. SIGHHHH! I called the manager and he could care less and was acting like it was a MAJOR, MAJOR inconvenience, that I had the nerve to call him. I have now filled a claim. Again I repeat before you send your hard earned money in this store, don't waste you time. Go somewhere else, where you are treated with the respect you deserve, for even walking foot into that store. Next time I will be spending my money somewhere else. read more

Arrived before 1000 to do a raised bed edible garden, that I did register for, to learn nothing was set-up. Really nice lady for the Garden center asked the manager. After having tried, and failed to buy a washer at Lowe's, I called this Home Depot. A young lady answered the phone in the Appliance department immediately and assisted me with the order. She was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. I guess I am a Home Depot customer now. read more

I paid for a toilet, installation, and removal old toilet. The "plumber" from home depot did not install my toilet said have another plumber come out so he left my toilet in my bedroom. But the most amazing thing is after not installing my toilet I was informed that I now owed home depot $14. Somehow additional costs for the " plumber" to come out and not complete his job costs more than the installation. Seriously adding charges especially a trip charge, knowing I had to pay someone else to do the installation was unbelievable. read more

Absolutely probably the worst Home Depot experience ever 13th Street has always been bad but now they've stepped above and beyond bad they're horrible. You can make management staff aware of the problems Bill temporarily get involved and then they go back to their old ways over the last several years I've spent thousands of dollars doing flip houses and buying building materials Etc from Home Depot 13th Street in the more you spend the less respect you get and the less assistance you get.
