I love this location and the store, but I didn't love the experience when I tried leaving. The door wouldn't open on its own. There were people outside in the cold, with temperatures around 1°F, which felt even colder with the wind. I went to get the greeter, who had his back to the door, and communicated that the door was shut and couldn't be opened. He looked at me confused and was very unhelpful. He walked to the door, stood there, and then walked to get someone else. The first thing this new employee asked as she approached me was if I had pressed buttons on the door. I told her I did not. I asked if this was a fire hazard, as I was concerned that I couldn't get out and people were standing in the freezing cold. She checked the door buttons, which were set correctly, but she still struggled to open the door herself. Once the door was opened slightly, she said it was too cold and the door wasn't working. I thought this was an absolute fire hazard, but she just walked away without fixing the problem or apologizing to the people standing in the cold. There was no explanation to me, no concern, no remorse, nor any apologies. This is just basic safety and customer service 101. read more

We bought new storm doors from Home Depot in June 2022. They've sent us the wrong size doors 5-6 times now. Nobody knows what's going on and each person they send to install the doors (which STILL haven't been installed) is not apprised of the situation. We've been in contact regularly with the store and have asked them to ensure that the contractors who are sent to install the doors know of the issue and bring the correct size doors. Truly the poorest service I've ever received in my life. If you want to avoid a headache, I strongly recommend against going with Home Depot. Maybe try Lowe's instead. read more

Ordered over $2000 of 42" Pre-assembled White Shaker cabinets from HD website. 3 cabinets arrived damaged. Immediately called to reorder. After an hour spent on the phone, HD online specialist said the damaged cabinets would be exchanged within 5 business days. Called back 2 days later for ETA. Found cabinets had not been reordered. Spent an additional hour on the phone with second HD online specialist who was very helpful and reordered the cabinets properly, two days ago. Tracking # says they will arrive in 3-4 more days. HD website says these cabinets ship in 1 day. Kind of leads me to expect 2-3 day arrival, not 5-6 business days. Never received a follow up call or email from the first HD online specialist, the person who said they set up the exchange of the damaged cabinets. Had I not followed up, I would still be waiting for a response and expecting my replacement cabinets to be delivered. Instead of waiting to coordinate pick up of damaged cabinets with the carrier, I returned the 3 damaged 42" tall cabinets to a local HD to expedite my refund...in my 4 door car. It was wonderful. To their credit, the return went fairly smooth and money was returned to my card. Unfortunately 2 additional weeks have been burned from original delivery date while we wait for repla cabinets. Meanwhile we cannot move into our new home. The remaining 3 cabinets have not yet arrived but hopefully they will not be damaged. Overall I am disappointed and frustrated. Update: the cabinets look great. Lazy Susan lower corner cabinet is NOT full size, it is much smaller than lazy Susan should be. That being said, price is good. Lead time is faster than custom cabinets. Happy with finished product, but was really frustrating experience. read more

CHECK the keys you have cut! While I waited for mine to to be cut, a guy came back with several that didn't work. Only 2 of my 4 ended up working, so I had to go back for them to redo them. Twice. Aaaaand the keys still didn't work, so I had to return them and get new keys cut elsewhere! Interestingly enough, the ones that DID work were the cute printed ones I purchased there (that the employee told me probably wouldn't work based on my original key design). The ones that DIDN'T work were their silver stock keys! I'll stick to the automated self-serve key cutters at Menards! read more

HD rocks the house! I said HD rocks the house (In my cheerleader like voice)! I'm no Bob the Builder but I love stopping in my local Home Depot. Everyone here is pleasant and helpful. They are commercial ready friendly. Almost too good to be true but service is the same each and every visit. I am always met with a smile, hello and can I help you find anything. Needless to say, I always seem to require assistance locating an item because I do not shop here with enough frequency to know my way around. To top it off, I do not recall ever being told an item is out of stock. All the more reason to shop there. read more

Review on their truck rental only. The guys are very great and will quote you on the Home Depot trucks and Penske trucks so you get the cheapest deal possible. They are patient if you have a lot of questions and will start the 75 minute time when you drive off the lot instead of as soon as you get your receipt. They also have free 'rope ties' outside the door. They aren't very thick, so we got a whole bunch and double tied everything down. read more

Wanted to purchase a new window-based AC unit. Went online and did just this. Was told that the product would be shipped to my house and arrive in three days. Here's how this whole scenario worked out: We were charged twice for a single AC unit; not sure why, we just were. Disputed this with our bank, and we had to pay a total of $60 to cancel both transactions. (Don't worry; my review on that bank is coming soon.) Then, when the product didn't arrive in the quoted three-day time frame, we called to investigate. We ended up canceling our order because Home Depot said that the AC unit would arrive until August, which is weeks from now. I think it's pretty clear why this entire situation was frustrating. But what gets me most is that HD didn't provide any communication with us about the issues that came up. We had to investigate everything ourselves. I'd like to say I have hope that some retailers will survive the advent of digital and online companies (eg., Amazon), but based upon how this entire series of events unfolded, any hope that I did have is starting to evaporate. We will probably end up buying a similar AC unit--maybe even the same one--on Amazon, which is what we should have done in the first place. Even if we don't like the product we receive, we will probably be able to return it without having to pay anything. And it will, I'm sure, arrive at our house a lot sooner than the one from Home Depot, a local retailer, will. read more

This location might be the worst in the chain. Every time I go for something simpler it turns into something difficult. For example, go for a shade and no one in the store knows how to cut it. They tell me to come back after 4 pm - this is at noon. Lowes to me is always much better for ease and customer service. read more

I really hope this reaches their corporate center because God knows I'm not waiting 5 hours on hold again. Complaint #1: I ordered a stackable GE washer/dryer set. Because I'm a nerd, OCD, and incredibly paranoid, not only did I measure my my space 5 times but I double and triple checked to make sure that every piece would be included with my order. I ordered everything recommended. What did the website not indicate would be needed? A stacking kit. Every set included it's own stacking kit, this one didn't. The appliances came and the installers refused to install it because...no stacking kit. So I got on the phone and called to get the stacking kit. I was on hold for 2.5 hours - all hold music and no answer! Only to find out that the call center was closed. I called again the next day and held for another 2.5 hours before I began speaking to a human, then I got bounced to someone else and had to reexplain my issue. The entire situation was incredible you frustrating! Being high risk during this time, spending you're savings on appliances, only to have to end up going to a laundromat is so upsetting. When I finally did speak to someone the resolution was that they could send the kit but not complete the installation after I had paid for it. I ended up speaking to the store manager who set up the installation for me, but I would have to pay up front for delivery of the kit and they'd reimburse me after... Complaint #2 I placed an online pickup order at 9am on Sunday. It's 10pm on Sunday now. The store's closed. The order is still not ready. I'm sorry, whaaaat? I get you're busy during these times but I have received no communication whatsoever. I'm not sure why I continue business with Home Depot at this point. read more

I made an order for $3,800 cash to this store and let me walk you through the type of service you'll get for what they consider small potatoes customers. I paid for delivery of my appliances and was confirmed I would get a delivery window the day before and the day of delivery. Guess what? NO CALL or text with a delivery window. I'm not sitting all day waiting for the delivery truck to show up. Naturally the delivery was missed. I called to reschedule and provided my order number and the soonest they could accommodate was 3 days even though it was their mess up I was the one who had to wait. The second time they come for delivery they only had 1 out of the 3 appliances. The only excuse they had "sorry for the inconvenience" as if that solves anything. Third time they come they deliver a dented dryer. I reject the dryer and the delivery guy tells me he can't do anything and I have to call the store. I call and they tell me it's gonna de a month until I get my dryer. I ask for a refund they said they need to process the request because it's an online order even though I made the purchase in store. I then get a called by their associate, Nancy that the only way I can get my refund is coming to the store and swiping my card. I live 30 minutes away from the store so I go ahead and show up to the store to be greeted by the arrogant and rude manager Frank L telling me I have to wait until they process my refund request and to come back tomorrow. I told them you guys called me to come over and they he said I'm sorry but there's nothing I can do (customer service etiquette at it's best). At this point I've been 5 hours on the phone, driving back and forth to the store and for the last 2 weeks trying to get my appliances or money back. Countless headaches and excuses from a company that has ZERO trained personnel in problem solving, customer service and organization. Take your hard earned money to Costco, Lowe's, Walmart or Amazon as those companies understand the business' success is in the customer service experience. read more

Do NOT buy appliances from Home Depot I did and big time regret it. Their return policies on appliances are only allow 48 hrs to call them with appliances problems. If you call past 2 days you are SOL. 2 days is not long enough. And will only take back if damaged. You pay thousands of dollars on appliances and they won't even budge or are flexible during this Coronavirus. If you get it want to exchange for a different style or swap it out you can forget it. They call it "buyers remorse" and said too bad. The website says 100 % happy guaranteed that's not true. Now I'm stuck with a refrigerator I don't want to keep. read more

If I can't find what I need, I usually encounter employees who (1) act like I'm incapable of functioning inside a home improvement store because I'm a woman or (2) have no idea what I'm talking about, leading me to find the next employee... I have had too many bad experiences with this store to even continue going there. They're not getting another red penny out of me after we have spent thousands of dollars on home renovations for two houses over the past few years. The customer service counter always has two people working behind there and they're always busy socializing or talking about how much they don't want to be there. I once went there to begin the process of getting new windows and new flooring and neither department even acknowledged my existence. Both had men working in the departments and while it was slightly busy, I had been waiting to talk to the reps and was next up. They completely ignored me and went to the next male customer. This happened on the same day in BOTH departments. The next day I went in with my husband and were immediately taken care of, but they only spoke to him. I could go on with more, but this will end up being a novel. I have to add that the only positive people working here are the older gentleman who works in paint and the black man who is super friendly and always calls me boss lady and asks if I need help. I love him! There is a young, tiny black girl who is so cheerful and sweet and Kathy from flooring is a nice lady as well. Now, here's the big one. If you have a HD credit card, watch your statements!!! In the past 3 months our credit card has been compromised at this particular store 3 times!! It HAS to be an inside job because there is no other way they could have our card number. The first time was close to $7,000 in charges, the fraud dept shut down the card, waived the debt, and sent us a new card. Thee weeks ago same thing happened - $2,000 in charges at this location, they shut down the card and sent a new one. The DAY we got the new one in the mail it happened again!!!! This time for $1,700. We are sick to death of this and they just lost our business for good. While HD is the closest home improvement store to our house, we will make the drive to Menards or Lowes. We're done. read more

I was looking to put a fence in my yard and was contacted on 11/4 to send the plot of survey and talked about what I wanted. I was then not contacted again until I reached out that I hadn't received a quote or anything. After receiving the quote it was unfortunately a lot more than I had expected but this is my first time doing anything like this so I'm not saying it was over priced just more than I personally expected. I respectfully told Dennis Daniels that it was out of my budget and I'm sorry to waste his time. I then received a very rude email belittling me that I should have known this would be expensive I'm not going to find it much cheaper but good luck to me. I finally went here instead of the Menards, which was a little closer. The difference was night & day. Menards employees never knew answers to our questions, and it was obvious that they never wanted to help. When I went to Home Depot, I got three people asking if I needed anything in the first 10 minutes. When I needed help getting a reel lawn mower down to test it out, they gladly pulled up a ladder and were happy to help. On top of that, they of course have all the supplies we need. I give a 4/5 instead of a 5/5 because we hired Home Depot to install new windows and the group that came out to do it did a really sloppy and inconsistent caulking job. They were good about fixing it though and we were happy besides that. read more

I made a purchase for sliding doors and additional doors for my home and they not only arrived broken but not complete. The order was very expensive. They have poor communication and service. I had to rent a drain cleaner so my husband and I went to Home Depot near our home. John R. happened to be working and helped us out. He was very knowledgeable about the equipment. We were stressed when we walked in but confident and ready to clean our drain when we walked out! We couldn't have done it without his help. John went above and beyond and we appreciate him! Online Ordering - Horrible! Placed an online order for 3 items for a closet organization system. Online tracking showed item was sent to local distribution center and then sent to the local store. The local store receive item that day by truck. So I called the store and was told my item arrived but no one had taken it off the truck. The customer service person I spoke with at local store put me on hold. She said she checked and the items were definitely on the truck BUT no one was there to take it off the truck. My items sat on the truck at the local HomeDepot for 2 days!! Then told it would be taken off the truck by the afternoon of the next day and to wait to come to the store until I received an email notification. Sounds like poor local store management, not enough employees or hate to say it - lazy employees. Items were a total of 4 days late - 3 of which they were on the truck at the local store just waiting to be unloaded. Does anyone work at the Glendale Heights, IL HomeDepot? read more

Not a welcoming environment at all. I was in there today to ask for assistance with lighting and I couldn't find anyone from the section to help me. I went to go ask the lady behind the counter and her attitude was atrocious. I get she may not be knowledgeable in that field (or much in general it seems) but she was in such a hurry to pass me off and she had such a bad eye rolling problem that I couldn't help but feel as though I did something personally to her by asking for simple assistance. I didn't even bother to ask for a manager because I feel as though any manager who feels they can hire someone like that, is not trained in good customer service themselves. The only reason I gave better than one star is because I met a nice (after looking) human being at a check out counter in the pro area. I asked for help with ceiling tiles because I found a few sample type drop ceiling tiles that had no bar codes. I was scolded by the lady who worked for Home Depot who assumed that I took the samples out of the box. She, in a demining way, said that they are not sold individually. I believe she forgot that customers are the reason she has a job. With her attitude, she will probably be looking for a job somewhere else pretty soon. I wish I could leave less than 1 star....Price my wife was charged for tool rental was much more than I was quoted.....They also charged her for damage protection (10% upcharge)..without ever asking her if she wanted the damage protection....On top of that they dinged us $40 extra for an additional 3hrs and 46 minutes....when a full day cost is $64..plus I've been on hold for a half hour waiting for a Manager to come to the phone. I came in here looking for plumbing supplies and various odds and ends for a tiling job. The manager here was perhaps the most friendly and accommodating sales person I've ever met. He helped me locate the right pieces, explained the difference between materials, showed me how to cut it and even smeared some adhesive on so I didn't have to buy that part. And you can beat the 10 percent discount for military veterans every day. read more

To say customer service is NON-EXISTENT is an understatement. It seem like they go out of their way to irritate their customers. It is Feb 9th and the door I ORDERED ON JULY 27 was finally installed ON OCTOBER 24th. The door looked like a factory reject and was improperly installed. Home Depot and the Manufacturer agreed to replace the door and it was scheduled for the first week of January. The installers waited for 3 hours for Home Depot to deliver the door and left as they had no ETA on the delivery. As of Feb 9th, I am still waiting on the door to be delivered. The installation was so bad I have ICE FORMING on the INSIDE of my door. To date neither the Glendale Heights Store or Corporate have resolved the issue. I will update this post if and when the issue has been resolved. I would upload the pictures I sent Home Depot if we had that option here. ****UPDATE 3/30/2015********** The door was replaced on Friday March 13th and it looks like it was properly installed. I will have to wait until winter to see if I still have ice forming on the door. Home Depot stated that they will issue me a refund. I contacted them to see if how I should proceed with this. read more
