Came in before 8am to get 1 screw. No idea how I was going to find it and where to go. Completely lost, Kadeem helped me find what I needed and suggested I also add a washer. No way I would've find what I needed on my own. Thank you for helping this clueless woman. I truly appreciate him making a trip to Home Depot painless and quick.

Melissa saved the day today! I was stressing out in the screw isle. It's so confusing. The selection is endless it's almost overwhelming since I'm not very knowledgeable about the details of them all. She helped me figure out where to start, & helped with the different sizes. The packs were cheap too, under $2 each.

This has been my favorite store for all my project needs. For the most part I can find what I need, but I still find that I have to order some items online. I changed out all my toilets with the Kohler Santa Rosa model with the piston flush technology about ten years ago. At the time this toilet cost about two hundred dollars and it was a good value for a one piece toilet. The piston flush technology has a heavier gravity fed pressure flush as compared to a standard toilet. The replacement parts for these toilets, I did have to order through Kohler because they definitely don't sell the parts at HD. They sell the toilets, but not the replacement parts. Very puzzling! I bought many Kohler quite close toilet seats here, but they kept snapping at the seat seam. I switched to the Haro brand toilet seats that they don't sell at HD. The Haro brand toilet seat has yet to crack in over five (+) years. I had to change out my Zurn water pressure regulator twice in a fifteen year span and I tried to purchase the item at HD in the store. Come to find out that they only carry the Watts brand in the store. I ordered this item on the HD website and it was delivered to the store. This purchase was my introduction to the pickup lockers located in the entrance of the store. You put in your code and get your order out of a locker, very simple. Half of the Vegas homes use the Zurn brand, so it seems like HD should carry both brands in the stores. About ten years ago Vegas had a cold freeze and my anti-siphon pressure vacuum breaker froze and it had started leaking. I went to HD and they did have the Watts brand replacement. That made the project that much easier. Recently, I decided to change out all of the screens on all of my windows. I chose the Suntech-80 screen material. This screen is a bit darker and slightly more expensive than the standard screen material. The screen seems to be a more durable material with the heavy sun we have here in Vegas in the summer months. I redid the sliding screen door in the stucco colored solar screen material. Expensive, but worth it! I got an LG washer and dryer with all of the fancy electronic components here at HD about four years ago. The washer is still going strong, but the dryer is horrible. It took about two years before I started getting a D80 code that was flashing every time I dried a load of laundry. This code meant that I had an 80% blockage somewhere in my dryer venting. I vacuumed out my lint trap area. I brushed out my entire vent stack and used a very heavy duty blower motor to blow out my vent stack. I still kept getting the D80 code. So annoying! I believe that the blower motor is inadequate in this dryer. I ended up having a smell of smoldering lint in the inside bottom portion of the dryer and that became the catalyst for me to get a new dryer. After a bit of researching on the HD website, I found that this commercial grade Maytag dryer checked most of the boxes. This dyer has a heavy duty blower motor, metal pulley wheels, an access panel in the front for servicing/cleaning purposes, and most importantly is the lack of digital displays/controls. Simplicity seems to be the way to go! However this dryer does cost around $1300. Hopefully I can get twenty years out of this dryer like Maytag is known for.

Adding great furniture to our new home. Although Home Depot doesn't offer many of these items in store, be sure to check out their furniture section online.

Quick stop here to compare prices for outdoor heaters between Amazon and theirs. It happened Home Depot has a 50%sales on outdoor heaters. Not fancy color, just plain stainless steel, but for the use outside, I don't think the color matters. The girls at the Garden Center were amazing, friendly, helpful, and excellent customer service. I ended up buying it here. I will though buy a cover at Amazon to protect it longer. HD has a one year warranty, so let's hope it last a few longer with the cover.

Often times I'll go to the general home improvement stores and only find the most popular items - which is understandable. On top of it - I'm also looking for stainless steel and specific compositions with different heads. This store is so vast! There's so many aisles and if you haven't been here before, it can be overwhelming. However, everyone who works here is SO NICE. I cannot say enough about their knowledge and willingness to help - even walk you to find exactly what you're looking for. This place is really a one-stop shop for me on so many days!

The manufacturer wanted $7 for the pair plus $11 for shipping. Amazon had packs of 50 or 100 for $6-$13 with shipping included, but the earliest delivery was Monday. As a last-ditch effort, I checked the local big-box stores, but nothing looked promising. Then I remembered McFadden-Dale and decided to make the trip before they closed. They didn't have the exact 6-32 x 7/16", but they did have 6-32 x 1/2". The staff was incredibly helpful and took the time to check the thread pitch to make sure they'd work. Best of all, four screws cost me just $0.56 instead of nearly $20--and I didn't end up with another 40 or 90 extras I'd now have to find uses for. Their credit card system was down, so it was cash only. They also close at 2 PM on Saturdays and are closed on Sundays.

We had allen wrenches, but were missing the exact ones we needed for dismantling the bed. Fortunately, there was this Ace Hardware store just down the street, so I figured we could go in and see if there were any possible inexpensive solutions. An associate asked if I needed help (I unfortunately didn't catch the guy's name) and I mentioned the predicament, admittedly somewhat worried I'd have to buy a whole new allen wrench set just to get the one that I needed for the job. He took me to a place in the back of the store with old allen wrenches people had donated, often left over from similar bed/furniture dismantling/assembly jobs, and these were free. He gave me the option of taking a few and seeing if any of them worked. I did take about three of them, and fortunately, one of them got the job done! If I'm in the area and have any further hardware needs and the like, I'll definitely be coming around.

This was my first time attending the National Hardware Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center…read more The show is divided into two major sections--lawn, home, and garden--and regular hardware items such as tool boxes, welding helmets, plumbing supplies and everything else you could ever lump into the "hardware" category. I spent more time in the home and garden section even though most of the items don't have a use in Las Vegas for many of us. Since we've traded grass for xeriscape, many of us have no need for lawn mowers, weed whackers, et. al. The lawn and garden section was in the North Hall of the convention center. I met some very nice and interesting people. It's a much more laid back show than the geeks of CES. I eventually made my way to the Central Hall for the regular hardware items. One of the standouts in this area was the large electrical displays. If I were giving Benjamin Braddock advice this year, I'd tell him, "LEDs". There were so many vendors with lights of various kinds that used LEDs to generate bright lights. After the Central Hall, I went outside to the outdoor, recreation, and tailgate area. They had a number of food vendors here tied in with some kind of cooking item. There were several vendors selling outdoor pizza bakers that rotated the pizzas as they cooked. They also had samples. I was surprised at how much food and food related vendors that were at the show. I expected a lot of wrenches, toilets, and other hardware items. Imagine my surprise when I'm given samples of beef jerky (teriyaki flavor) on entering the show to get my credentials. I'll attend next year. It's too good a show to miss and it's at a great time of the year!
