Customer service at this location is awesome! I was seeking a certain stain for my fence and called this Home Depot before driving an hour to see if they had it. They had 1 but I needed multiple. They were kind enough to hold my item and call surrounding stores to find more for me! They had other stores hold it for me also and i just drove around and picked it up. Super easy! The store is clean and everyone is friendly. I also love bringing in my little dog. He loves the adventure and everyone is very nice to him! Great job Home Depot! I have been here multiple times and the store help is never anywhere to be find. To be fair when I do find someone it's like finding my grandpa in Meijer. They don't know what I'm talking about or pretend like they don't see me trying to wave and call them over. My last straw and why I made this review is because I bought a new toilet seat and broke the washer/fastener. I had the f ing part in my hand but I might as well have had a Easter egg. This place satisfies my needs and wants.  I think everyone has been to home depot even just once in their life because why not. Whenever I need something for our house or at the office even for our garden, Home depot is the place where I always go. I have never been here and not found the thing that I am searching for; therefore I am convinced that they have everything. Others might think that this store only sells hardware materials but this place also has tools, appliances, outdoor furniture, building materials, and many more. And the quality of the products is so nice they last for years and years; the cabinet I have brought 4 years ago still looks brand new. Some Products are a bit pricey but who cares, the quality is worth it. Another place why I am always shopping here is because they have really nice customer service. I was in need of some stain for a project at home. Blue wood stain. Went here with hopes of finding what I needed. Found that they had several containers of tintable stain on the shelf. On the can, it says bring to paint counter to have tinted. The young man behind the counter was great and wanted to help me. When he asked a higher up how to tint the stain, they said "we don't do that." Why sell a product that clearly states "tintable stain, bring to paint counter" if this isn't a service that you offer? 4 years ago I order cabinets for my kitchen. Right after that I was in and out of the hospital. They screwed up one of the cabinets and sent me one without doors or drawers on one side Now that I feel better I contacted them about the mistake. I am aware that quite a bit of time has passed. We have recently started all of our inside improvements and have gone to the Home depot almost daily over the last 2 weeks, we have worked with Bob,Tom & Nick in the Door department & many people in the flooring & paint department. Everyone there has been extremely useful & helpful. Our initial review last year was not favorable, but we must have gone on an off day because absolutely everyone that we are working with is knowledgeable & courteous. As we are making changes and looking for suggestions, they are very informative & supportive. and the best part, is that we are getting the best value for the price that we are paying. So I go in to purchase a bathroom cabinet. At the register Berry tells me I will get $50.00 off if I open up a charge card today. I did. Thinking this cabinet was quite a deal. I only received $25.00 off. So after calling up the number on the charge card to no avail, I stopped in the Fox Lake Home Depot to see if they could explain the problem. They did and were great. However I did not get the other $25.00 off. So that's it. I was misinformed and warn others if approached for a charge card to think before you act. My mom and I stopped in a few Friday evenings ago to get some outdoor lights (motion sensor as well as solar-powered) and a few other odds and ends. Like most Home Depots (or hardware stores in general), it was tough to find someone to help us at first, but once we did, they were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. A blond-haired lady ended up helping my mom and I find everything we needed for outdoor lights with sensors. She not only listened to what we wanted and offered her own recommendations, but stayed with us to figure out if what we wanted to do would work. She also brought us to different departments in the way of good ol' fashioned customer service - by walking us there. She was outstanding, really, and spent at LEAST a half our with us. I wish I had gotten her name. All of the employees we encountered (much of them separately, as Mom and I "divided and conquered") were the exact same way as far as disposition and knowledge, leading us to leave as VERY happy people. read more

Nothing here that's not standard at all Home Depots. The staff are nice, and knowledgeable. The hot dog stand is okay, but it's not Vienna Beef, so that's a negative star right there. It's a bit more expensive that the Lake County Home Depots, though. And that's curious, since it seems like prices should be uniform district-wide, if not company-wide. It's nice to have a Home Depot, but it would be nice to have a Lowe's, too, for the competition. read more

I am writing this review on behalf of my elderly parents. They purchased a dishwasher and paid for installation. When it was delivered, the guys dumped it on the living room floor, made a lame excuse why they couldn't install it and left. If this was the first time, I probably would have let it go but it's the third time this has happened to them in less than a year. They see elderly people and take advantage of them. Absolutely amazing store, that has left me in absolute amazement! Okay, so everyone at some point or another has been in a home depo, Menard's, Lowe's... I'm a Menard's type of chick, they have what I need on so many levels it's insane, I know the store and I know the staff BAM! ZOOM! I move!!! 2 hours from all I know and love! WHERE IS A MENARD'S?!?! No clue but I live right next to a Home Depo... UHG... I hate home depo, the prices, the mess, the NONEXISTENT staff. But I'm in the middle of this adding a bathroom to my basement nightmare! I need HELP! So I step in... It was like angels singing when I walked through the door, bright, clean & staff EVERYWHERE!!! Mind you I also have an infant with me, which adds an added bonus to any trip, crying, screaming, etc., etc. I went to the front desk, 4 employees all asking how they can make me happy, make my day better, answer any questions I have and willing to point me in the right direction if they can't! Wow, way to go on the first impression, but it didn't stop there. I wandered for a bit, but once I had a question I found Cyndi McKee "flooring specialist" and let me tell you, not only could she answer questions I had, but ones I hadn't thought of! She loaded a skid full of tile, matched the tile to the color paint I had in mind, back splash, and even the fixtures! Anything I couldn't find in the store was ordered online at a kiosk, once everything was said and done there was nothing left to do! Should have hired them for the job rather than an outside contractor! Best experience I've had in years on all levels, in any store. Thank you! read more

I would give them zero if I could. We ordered a new kitchen counter. They said 3-5 weeks. It has now been 11 weeks. We have called the store manager three times and he/she has never returned our calls. I guess they just do not care enough. If you need customer service go anywhere else. read more

In March, 2015 we made the mistake of ordering a vinyl, sliding, patio door kit from our Home Depot in McHenry, IL. Once it finally was delivered to the store, we then waited until their installers came out to our home and removed our old door & complete assembly and then they installed the entire new door & assembly. Ever since then, every winter, we have had problems getting the replacement door to close all the way and lock. Now, with temperatures near and below zero, the door won't close all the way and/or lock. Of course, it's a Friday afternoon and Home Depot's installers are not available until next Monday and we can't get our door to close all the way and so it will not lock. I will never order anything from this store or the chain again. DON'T... I repeat, DON'T shop at this store, nor any of the others in their chain, unless you know what their service procedures are and are satisfied that they meet your needs. read more

Home Depot used to be the place to go for me. I would buy all kinds of tools, paint, etc there. In the past year or so it has gone so far downhill that I don't want to shop there ever again. We can never find a sales associate to help us, and when we find someone they look annoyed that we are asking them a question. This is happened multiple times over the past two years. We recently purchased an oven from Home Depot because ours went out. The sales clerk took so long to enter in the data and sell it to us. It seemed obvious that he really didn't know how to use a computer. We were supposed to have someone call us within three days to set up a measurement and then installation. That never happened. We called a week later and they were confused as to why we were calling. Finally we got a phone call that said we would have it installed. We questioned why no one came to measure. They said they would call and get back to us. No one called us to set up a time for a measurement. Then two gentlemen showed up at our door to do the measurement. Fortunately we were home at the time. When we called to cancel the installation because the measurement said we needed to do additional work before that, they didn't even have our installation date on file. This is after we got the message that said they were coming to install. We definitely will never order an appliance or installation of anything from Home Depot. We would prefer to pay extra money and go to a local small business that does the same thing. read more

So went to store to get a new stove, first it's a Monday night not busy at all waited till today because the weekends can be crazy. Well we walked around found the stove we were looking at but no one around to wait on us. I found a girl sitting at the kitchen models asked if she was busy If she worked with the appliances, she told me she did. Char was her name we needed to know if the stove we were looking at could be converted to propane as that is what we have, she came over looked at the stove then went back and sat on her chair looking things up never said I'll be right back or hold on nothing. She looked the stove up online and found out that the offer the conversion but Home Depot doesn't have anyone to install it yd need a license professional. Okay do you offer someone. No, okay so in other words you have no choice but to turn our business away? I get that sometimes there is noting you can do but she didn't even try she didn't call anyone, she didn't look to see if maybe another stove would work many it was more expensive, she didn't offer any suggestions like maybe your propane dealing could help!? Nope she was just fine with us leaving the store not spending any money at all. The issue isn't as much that Home Depot didn't offer something we needed it's more about the customer service where is it!?? Won't be back. read more
