Just a word of advice for anybody that calls this location: If whoever answers the phone does not know how to help you, they will hang up on you. I just spoke to four different employees to get a simple reschedule of an appliance installation and each one had an, "I don't know" response, would tell me to "hold", and then hung up. I understand if it's busy at the store (it's 2pm on a Tuesday) or if you feel unsure to answer my question. But, if you don't know the answer, just transfer me to someone who could, instead of unprofessionally and immaturely hanging up. Don't answer the phone if you don't plan on helping your customers. I ended up finally getting ahold of someone by calling ANOTHER location to help me. Home Depot Milpitas... get your act together. I don't go to Home Depot very often, but when I do, I can't say it's an unpleasant experience. Went there today to buy some paint. There was an older gentleman working the paint department and he seemed pretty grumpy at first. Still, if I was his age and a bunch of people were asking me questions all day long, I'd be pretty annoyed as well. Still, once we started talking and asking him question he was very helpful and made the experience very smooth and enjoyable. He pretty much knew all his stuff. After we got our paint we browsed a bit and it's always interesting to see what they have for sale, which is a lot! If you need something for home repair, then get your booty over here. As an avid Home Depot shopper, mainly purchasing plants and succulents from the Garden Center and occasionally purchasing some building supplies, I am appalled at this Home Depot. After just having finished shopping at the Home Depot in Fremont, we decided to stop by this Home Depot to see if they have any 1 Gallon Succulents. After the Fremont one not having a good variety of 1 Gallon Succulents, we decided to see if there was another Home Depot near by that we hadn't been to recently. The Great Mall Home Depot was one we had not stopped by recently. At first we were happy that we actually found a nice 1 Gallon Succulent that we liked, and proceed to head to the checkout. When we got to the check out, we had asked if we could get the 5% off for using our Home Depot Credit Card. The cashier said, do you have a low card? We said no we only have the Home Depot Credit Card. She said she couldn't give it to us without it. We told her, that we just got 5% off at another Home Depot earlier. She still insisted no and said we changed it, you have to have the other card. Not happy with this Home Depot. We just purchased something from the Fremont Home Depot and was able to get 5% off with just the Home Depot Credit Card like we've been doing at all other Home Depot's. Yet, the cashier here would not give us 5% off..... This is a cheap Home Depot!!! Stay away!!! Manager is off day... My thoughts is this. Regional staff need to take over and refresh this site. Cut half staff that sucker and increase pay rate for the remaining. Unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow -5 stars for a rating. I have been a regular customer for Home Depot for over 15 years and I am never going to buy anything from HomeDepot again. Here's how HomeDepot disposed off their junk while making money out if it. Week-1: We ordered a dishwasher with installation service from Home-Depot 3 weeks ago. My husband had a major knee injury and I can't handle the dishwasher myself due to an injury, that's the reason we decided to pay for a full service delivery and installation. They delivered it within 3 days. The installation guy denied installation until we install a special valve through another plumber. We asked him to take the unit back and bring it when it's ready to be installed. He told us to keep the unit with us as re-delivery would take 3 months! He left the unit in our garage, we later got a valve installed an called Homedepot to send the installation guys again. Week-2: After another week, the 2nd installation guy came and unsealed/opened the dishwasher package and discovered a dent. He told us that he has reported it to Homedepot now and advised us to call Homedepot and get it replaced. When we called HomeDepot, they denied all the responsibility. They basically told us that they "only take the order". Delivery and installation is all 3rd party, they don't take any responsibility for that. We called Kitchen Aid, they agreed to send the replacement part, but it would take more than a month, so they recommended getting the dented unit installed until then, so that we are not left without a dishwasher for another month. Week-3: Now we called HomeDepot and they sent the same installation guy who came the first time. He denied installation because the dishwasher had a dent. He called his supervisor and talked for 15 minutes (all while walking with his shoes on in our kitchen). His supervisor told me that the installation guys will move on without doing their job and I need to work with HomeDepot to get this sorted out. I checked the installation agency's Yelp page (Temco Logistics) and not surprisingly there are are multiple complaints of similar nature from other customers. Overall, I spent over 4 hours talking to different Home Depot agents, only get bounced around from one agent to another and to be told that the appliances we buy from HomeDepot is not their responsibility, they order through the manufacturer and get it delivered/installed through 3rd party. At the end of all this, I called customer service, requested them to refund the installation and haul away charges, they agreed and told me to stop by the store with receipt to get the refund. At the store, they asked me to repeat the whole story again and told me they couldn't process the refund because their customer service was closed (It was still 4:20PM, I don't know why they would be closed this early). So overall, after paying more that $1200, I got a piece of junk delivered to me. Week-4: I am still waiting for the refund of installation and haul-away charges. read more

Ever go into a hardware store KNOWING that you're you're going to need help finding something, and all the employees on the floor make it CLEAR they don't want to be bothered - they turn away like they didn't see you getting ready to ask for help, or walking away making believe they didn't see or hear you. Yeah, all stores do it, but Home Depot is the Champ ! It happened to me again today here at Home Depot at the Milpitas Mall . . pissing me off, as usual . . until, that is a young man stopped what he was doing to greet me and ask if I needed any assistance. Sigh. I am amazed that there is such a huge gap between the same store but in different locations as the one in Cupertino is so nice and the one in Milpitas is kind of ... a dump to put it politely. First the parking situation is not good here since many people take up parking spots to go to the Mall so when you want to find parking during almost all noon, afternoon, evening hours, it's difficult because most people are at the mall. This makes it inconvenient and you have to park far, for home depot this is an issue since you usually go into buy large items. Even with a cart, to push this around in the parking lot across long distances can be a pain if you have long blinds or large planks of wood you have to carry. Then, you walk in and it's very dusty, disorganized, things are everywhere. I've gone to the electrical department and the super glue department and found the products to be everywhere, not up on the racks and it was very hard to figure out the prices since the products were not where they were supposed to be. I usually can't find someone in an aisle or at the counter to help me, so I just end up wandering around for a while in search of what I'm looking for. Their self checkout, at least two is inoperative at any one time in my experience and overall I just never walk away going ... yeah I got what I needed! They can definitely use a more helpful staff as well as better inventory arrangement / product display. read more

No greeters handing out carts at entrance. There were several carts inside at customer service. Bearded Jason was rude when I asked if it was OK for me take one the three carts. He said there were several outside. He reluctantly let me borrow a cart when I said I could not find the carts outside. He had bad attitude as he found me inside the store to tell me there were 40 carts outside. At this point I felt he needed the cart more badly than I did. So I hand carried my merchandise to cashiers and let him have the cart. Bad customer service at this store. Try Lowe's it is a much better store and parking is plenty too. read more

This one-star rating is the average of several "experiences" [including today] at this Home Depot at the Great Mall, all ranging from 0 to 1.5 stars. It is sad that some people strive to do as little as possible for a day's pay. I guess it's not fashionable to say that the workers should be grateful they have jobs. Customers looking for assistance need Olympic-level fitness training [in endurance and sprinting] in order to search for and/or chase down an orange-aproned person. One time (my best day ever at Home Depot) I was actually approached by an employee (voluntarily!) who asked if I needed help. I believe she no longer works there. . . didn't adhere to company policy? I wonder if it's true that many employees have gone through some sort of training, maybe HD Academy -- where they learn the four basic skills of Customer Avoidance. . . [1] Hide Behind Large Appliances, [2] Make Abrupt U-Turns If Customer Approaches, [3] Walk By Quickly and Avoid Eye-Contact, and [4] Stride Away Hurriedly While Fake-Talking on the Phone or Walkie-Talkie. Seriously though, it is very frustrating and upsetting to all of us who have endured this lack of customer assistance. What could have been a ten-minute errand ends up lasting up to 45 minutes, by the time you wander around looking for an employee, then stand in line at the "Customer Service" desk, waiting...waiting...waiting. As far as inventory goes, they don't always have what I want to buy, but when they do, the prices are frequently better than similar-quality products available elsewhere. This is the absolute worst Home Depot with The Rudest employees. My husband and I came in for several feet of chain and paint, as we waited for help with the chain a male associate came by with a crappy attitude and asked if he could help, my husband requested the length he needed and he had the sheer stupidity to ask "What do you consider 4 ft?" How can a Home Depot employee not have the appropriate tools to measure and cut lengths of chain. Several employees called for help on aisle 24 and do you know after half an hour how many responded...??? NONE!!!!! After adamantly asking to speak with a manager someone finally came to help... Ahh, Home Depot... memories of my childhood! My dad was a shop teacher and I pretty much grew up in lumber type stores like these. I still seem to be here all the time. The people here are friendly and helpful and they've always had what I'm looking for. When I first moved here, I had to fix my boyfriends leaky sink, then we remodeled his whole condo...that was a job but Home Depot had everything we needed. Just yesterday, we were there picking out flowers and things for the patio. I was happy with the large selection. The only reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is cause we had problems with a paint associate once. The first time we picked paint, an associate told us that 'Beaur' brand was pretty much our least expensive option. or only a dollar or so more than the next choice and much better quality. Well, we didn't check ourselves but should have! We were very unhappy with the color results and coverage. When we went back and bought different paint, a different guy recommended a much less expensive brand(American ?) and his color was right on, coverage was thorough. Too bad we bought 5 gallons of the expensive off color paint and only 2 gallons of the better cheaper paint. We went to Lowe's for a while after the paint thing... actually ended up buying our Laminate flooring at Lowe's cause we were put off by Home Depot for a bit but, we always end up back at Home Depot... it's a good place despite that one mishap. My delivery isn't schedule until Thursday so I decided to cancel it. today, Monday. I heard the most ridiculously stupid answer from both ladies. I ordered this toilet from Homedepot.com and after ordering online, the shipping estimated 2 weeks before delivering and a charge of 55 dollars. Because my home was in need of a toilet desperately, the next day i went and bought another toilet and had it installed ASAP. About 2 weeks later , the originally ordered same toilet was delivered and then I proceeded to return the delivered un-opened toilet back to Home Depot. Spoke with Asst Manager Collin and he accused me of buying a different toilet w different price and also would not refund my shipping fees. He then told me to go home to take photos of the installed toilet so to show proof that i wasnt returning the toilet i bought on my own. Im not here to play this he said she said game, i produced a online receipt and a physical receipt that i purchased a toilet on my own and moved on my own. Ordered a Milgard garden window on Jan. 13th. Was told it would be delivered Feb.4th. That date came and went. We went to the store to check in the order. Staff got defensive ion several occasions. Not only is parking a joke; but the staff lack any type of customer service skills. In walking thru the lighting section, we walked up to an employee only to find them watching TV on their smart phone. Them walking up to another associate to ask for help, they started a conversation with an employee walking by even though we were clearly standing in front of him to ask a question. And the conversation that they had was regarding when they were going on break. To top it all off. The only checkstand open was self check. When I asked the self checkout area attendant if she could assist me with scanning the long PVC pipe her response was I don't have a scanner if you can't get it to work you can walk down to one of the other open checks out at the other end of the store. To be honest I'm not exactly sure what she was capable of doing as she stood there smacking gum watching other customers have issues trying to get their credit cards working with me fumbling with a long 10 foot pieces of PVC pipe. What a joke; this is the type of employees you hire... no wonder your store is empty why the parking lot is full of customers going to the mall. Customer Service was very unprofessional and incompetent at the Milpitas HD. I have called several times today as well to talk to the Store Manager couldn't even go through waited literally 25minutes and someone from the HD Milpitas Store hang up the phone twice on me. This Home Depot has the worst customer Service. Went there to buy some tile bits and a new tape measure. The tape measures are locked up understandable because of thief. But the one worker that has the key to unlock the door is cutting keys. So have to wait 10mins no big deal. But when he unlocks and I pick out the tool and he says he will put in self check out. Ok this is the part that bothered me. When I told the worker at the self checkouts I have tape measure up here as I'm standing the he grabs it doesn't hand it to me go's to the machine I'm on and scans it. No wonder this store already has a rating under 3 stars. Store 1041, managed by ORION, provides very poor quality customer service. I recently went to purchase between $200-300 worth of lumber to help my grandparents with some renovations at their home. After finding all materials needed, I went to the register and spoke to two lovely women that informed me that the wood could be cut. Upon going to the saw operator, he then informed me he could not cut the wood, as it is pressure treated. "Due to unsafe chemicals in the wood". After hearing this, I asked if he would be willing to help me out and make an exception, as our vehicle could not hold lumber that was 12ft long. He continued to reject my request. I then began to research the legitimacy of his claims and sure enough, as long as the wood after pressure treatment, it's safe. If it wasn't dry/safe..why would you have unsafe/hazardous material on the shelf for sale..? We asked the kind women from the register if we could speak to the store manager. ORION came to address the situation. There was no introduction as far as his name and company title. He did not try to build rapport about the situation we found ourselves in. I proceeded to inquire about the wood cutting, he said they provide it. Then ORION proceeded to tell me again that they would not cut it for the same reason and that it is company policy. That he can SELL me a tool to cut the wood, or that I can rent a van/truck. I asked what service was being provided to the customer, to help resolve this obstacle brought about by obvious in store miscommunication. He persisted that I buy an adequate tool or buy a truck. I had explained that this is not a professional way to resolve a matter with a customer that just made a $300 purchase. Rather than going above and beyond to provide us with a remarkable in store experience with exceptional customer service, he had the audacity to say, "sir I'm not making you buy this." I explained that he was correct, that I intended to make the purchase but was trying to work with him to find a solution that would work towards getting out lumber transported, without needing to be SOLD A TOOL OR VEHICLE RENTAL. What's very upsetting is that we are a Military Family. ORION had no regard for any of the customers dilemmas in this situation. If he did not want to risk the safety of his employees, then be a manager and take charge and go above and beyond for your customers. This man has very poor management and conflict resolution skills. Very upsetting. I returned all lumber and have made my purchase at Lowes, where they were able to accommodate - LOWES EVEN GAVE ME $50 OFF without opening a credit card or anything. I had even expressed to ORION, that his handling of the situation was not a good job at achieving customer advocacy. He just threw his hands up in the air, said,"okay," and walked away. I have a long line of family members that have managed several different Home Depot locations as well, primary one being De Anza. This managerial encounter was highly unacceptable. Poor poor service. I had to ask another employee for ORION's name and the store number. Hoping Regional Manager or Corporate reaches out to me about this experience. read more

Convenient location with plenty of parking. I've been here countless times and have never had an issue finding what I was looking for. I'm not particularly knowledgeable in the slightest at all about tools, but thankfully Taline and Art from the hardware department were there. I appreciate them both for listening to my issues and skillfully walking me through options on how to finish my project instead of pointing me in a direction. We came and visit the Home depot here at Milpitas to buy materials for carpet replacement and waited for someone to help us cut the carpet we chose. We approached one of the employee and paged the person who is assigned in that department. We waited for about 30 minutes and no one care to help. We then approached another employee for the second time and was told that they will help us out. Waited again for another 30 minutes or so and still no one help. We asked again for the third time and was told that the person who is assigned on that department is out to pick up his kid??? Pick up his kid while on the clock?? That doesn't make sense!! We were told that we have to wait until that employee comes back for another 30 to 45 minutes. We left frustrated!!!! ZERO rating!!! read more

This Home Depot had an employee named "Art", in the hardware department, who solved our whole problem and told us exactly what to buy and how to build it. One of my favorite Home depots. Always stocked up on the items i need (usually air hose and plumbing stuff) Staff is courteous when you approach them, however, many times you can tell they try to avoid eye contact so they dont have to answer customer questions. They accept all major credit cards and have a giant parking lot. Since its located in tge parking lot of the Great Mall, parking can be a hassle, however, the parking lots on each side of the building usually have spots open. read more
