I went in on Thursday and was told the paint I needed could be prepared and picked up the next day. Great! I showed up the next day to find out that nothing was prepared. Bummer! I'm giving this Home Depot 1 star only because you have to! My daughter in law's grandmother ordered her a new dishwasher with a $300 installation fee (because she is a stay at home mom with 8 kids) The delivery driver arrived with a 2nd delivery person. Neither man could speak clear English. The had a HEAVY Dominican accent. And when we said we couldn't understand what they were saying they just spoke louder!! They proceeded to come in to the kitchen, go under the sink cabinet and literally throw her items across the kitchen floor. Then unscrewed the old dishwasher, pulled it out and said something about the electrical outlet. We have no way idea what was being said. The pushed it back in. Screwed it in place and left. Her grandmother had to call and reschedule someone to come back out 3 days later to either explain or install. We will see. Awful service. Horrible energy from the 2 workers! Placed a curbside pick up at the Home Depot Fairview Heights on highway 50 this morning. Went to pick it up pulled into the space. We waited for a while then decided to go in and was ignored. They said they would be with me but I was already agitated. Some other lady butted in and it wasn't of her concern. I told her to hush and we left. The same lady brought out our goods and should have just given us our purchase say have a nice day and left, but she was gonna get in the last word so she said to me "oh you told me to hush so I'm just gonna walk away". Very very bad customer service. I was literally going to apologize but she wasn't having it. She escalated the situation. I deserve an apology Home Depot. DO NOT purchase any storm doors from Home Depot. I ordered a custom size Anderson storm door in Nov/Dec 2024, it was installed Jan 2025. It came with a bend in the top so the installer ordered a new part for me. Great! It was installed a couple of months later. By Oct/Nov, I could feel cold air blowing in but couldn't pinpoint how or where. Finally in Feb 2026 I saw the upper window with screen attached was coming apart. HD said it was no longer their problem but to contact Anderson. They said it was still under warranty and sent the part...told me to have HD install it. Now I have a part and HD said they couldn't help. No recommendation, just "get a handyman". So bottom line is...they sell you the idea of a warrantied item but turn their back when you need it. Shame on HD for their promise of having your back if you buy their product stating it has a 5 year warranty, because their back is all you see once they have your money. read more

We purchased a granite countertop on 1/10/2016 from the Home Depot in O'Fallon, IL. The countertop has a 15-year limited warranty through Daltile. At that time, Top Masters were the Home Depot installers. It took 2 sets of installers at different times to make the initial installment b/c the first installation was unacceptable. We now have major issues along the 25" seam with gaps in the seal (see attached). We've called Daltile numerous times and they say this is an installation issue (which we agree). Top Masters is no longer an installation provider for Home Depot. We've contacted HD numerous times and I recently visited the store. The Customer Order Specialist didn't come out of their office to speak to us but only relayed information to another worker. The COS' message wasn't pleasant and we were told the Home Depot warranty was only for a year. Take a look at these pictures. Is this the result of a Home Depot countertop installation you want displayed? This unresolved issue has been going on for months and we now have it covered with packing tape to keep food from falling into the cracks as it's 6" from our sink. read more

I've had very hit and miss experiences at this location over the past 2-3 years. I've found things that say they are currently in stock at this stores location but when I get there they are nowhere to be found. It's really frustrating when you do a ton of research on something and go to buy it or take a look at it and it's nowhere to be found, even when it says 4 are in stock. My experience with staff has always been helpful but sometimes it is difficult to find someone to speak with. I have rented out some of their equipment and had zero issues with it. I do not like going into these stores. I typically order what I need online and pick it up however on this day I needed to use a merchandise credit which only I could use (they register it to your driver's license) and they do not allow you to use it when shopping online. So I had to go in. I looked up the items I wanted and the website will tell you aisle and bin numbers those items are in at your store. Then I glanced at a store map and knew to park on the right side. I went right to my items and was in and out in 5 minutes. I guess if you do enough research you can make it painless. It's when you need help from an expert in an orange vest that you have a problem! read more

First of all, LOVE that I can search what I'm looking for and then the aisle and bay is giving to you. My husband and I needed assistance and Randy Helf helped us. He was very nice and informative. My husband and I are a young couple still learning about tools and DIY home projects. Randy helped us find what we needed and gave tips on how to do the things we needed to do. Jim helped as at checkout and he as very personable. We love home depot and so does our family. My grandpa could stay in there for hours, and now we know why. I checked in when I parked. No one came. I called the store. No one answered. I used their text support and got a robot. I waited FORTY FIVE minutes! I canceled my order and left. I used to like to shop here all the time. I can find things in the isles and can typically get answers to the questions I have. However, after this latest event, I will be shopping elsewhere. I special ordered a bathroom - all the cabinets, counter top, sinks, faucets, etc. Paid for everything up front. After waiting for 4 weeks for the cabinets to come in, it took me a week or two in the evenings to get the new cabinets set. The subcontractor came out to measure for the counter top. Everything was a go, except that it was going to be 3 weeks for them to "make" the counter top. Fine I say. Let's get it done. Now 1 week before the install, I get a call from Home Depot saying that I need to pay another $350 because I selected undermount sinks. Mind you, those are the same sinks that were purchased on the same transaction with the same designer on the same day the cabinets and counter top were ordered. Why wouldn't they have known to charge me that at the time I purchased everything? I was told that if I didn't pay it, they would put my counter install on hold or I could return the sinks and go with a top mount sink. I hope they are happy with this $350, because I have 2 more bathrooms to do and you can bet I won't be buying my supplies from here. If I use the first bathroom as a gauge, this $350 will cost them $10,000 or more. This is like buying a car and them telling you that you have to pay an extra $1000 for the tires that go on the car. If that cost would have been included in the price of the original purchase, it would have been understood. Waiting until you are over a barrel to throw in extra charges that they clearly knew about is a problem. read more

My sister needed a large bin, and it said online that the store had 5 in stock yet when we arrived we didn't see them. So we went to customer service to ask them and the young lady was incredibly sweet and helpful! We waited for another kind worker to get the truck and retrieve the bin from the highest shelf. Store operations manager said they won't replace or repair after 3 days - refused to discuss - referred me to LG. Refused to provide the name and phone number of his district or regional manager. Told me to call 1-800-HOMEDEPOT. Asked me if I wanted him to "spell it". Snarky. I don't have any paperwork from them stating they have a 3 day return policy - - -and he couldn't tell me what paperwork I might have signed that would have stated that. This business SUCKS! You can't find help, when you do get lucky enough to find someone, they act as though they're put out. I spent about 17 minutes there total. I needed the parts/gasket and bolts for between the toilet and tank (even though they're cheaper at Lowe's) I was going to get at Home Depot but took a while to find (no one to help) found them but no one to help me make I had the right parts. Looked up on google and decided to go ahead and purchase. Next, I needed this one particular light bulb which Home Depot is one of the few places that have them. Couldn't find them because they're not near the lighting area. Finally found them but didn't know which one I needed or was comparable to the one I needed and again employees around didn't bother asking if I needed help. Rude Staff Members This is not my first encounter with this particular store and all encounters together would not even equal a 1 star rating. My last encounter on 6/24/19 was the last straw. While I was in the store for at least a half an hour 4 store employees passed me and not one of them ask me how I was doing or if I needed help however, this type of "customer service" is not uncommon anymore. Once I had selected my items I made my way up to the self scan area and saw a clerk (Christopher) leaning against the counter of his register. I attempted to make eye-contact to ask if he could help. Every time I looked at him he looked away. I walked closer to him and asked him if he was open. Christopher (still leaning on his counter) then looks at me and without words points up to his illuminated orange lane light. This was not the first time I have had to deal with Christopher. Like this time he was standing at his check out lane (ironically enough located under a large sign that says something like "Pro Tips"). I had a question regarding some material and he said he didn't know and that I would have to ask someone else. He pointed to a woman walking away from us down the aisle. I ran down to ask her my question and she told me that she was working with someone else and didn't know the answer to my question. She then pointed me to the aisle I had just spent 15 mins looking for (so much for "You can do it, we can help"). Now I need to return some items and I am hesitant to go back because I don't want to have to be subjected to some of the rudest staff I have ever encountered. I like the fact that they cut wood for free and staff are friendly but not intrusive. When I approach a staff, attention is on me to satisfy my question concern or need. Example: Wife and I drove here in search of certain items. We asked this lady for guidance and she walked us to an aisle that may have the item we needed. Unfortunately, the item was not there. So, she asked us politely "what is it that we were building". She gave us ideas and included another worker for his advice. They both walked us to another aisle where items we needed were located. Not what I had in mind but their idea was better than my plan. Lady stayed with us and even had a pleasant conversation. We were satisfied with our purchase. I also like the fact that the store has a lot of contractors to install, deliver, assemble, etc things that would normally cost a lot more with private businesses. This is our go-to DYI supply store so we of course went there today as we start our kitchen remodel. Extremely disappointed. It's Sunday so their design consultant is off. (Don't most DYI projects need things on weekends since they have other jobs during the week?) There were 3 employees in the kitchen cabinet department but couldn't even answer which of the displays were custom cabinets, no one offered ANY constructive help or offered any assistance on who or when the design assistant would be available ... We left VERY frustrated and disappointed. Drove to Lowe's. While their design assistant also was unavailable, our basic questions were answered and we have an appointment to meet with the designer next weekend. This is by far the best Home Depot location I have ever been to. We are having a very large job done by them, redoing many of our floors. The flooring department has been incredibly patient and helpful. Josh has been helping us with our quote and when my bank caused issues with processing the payment he was so patient, kind, and understanding. He also helped us select the perfect black paint for our dining room walls, as well as an odor killing primer, and then went through the paint department helping us stock up on everything we would need. He helped us figure out the best rollers, brushes, and accessories we needed (we had nothing at all at home) and a step stool as well, for reaching our ceiling. With his help our painting project went smoothly. We definitely plan to continue shopping with this location. By far their customer service is some of the best I've ever seen in a store like this. read more

Definitely not worth the hassle over their appliances...was told would deliver on a Thursday after 3 by the salesperson ..got a call the day before they were delivering between 9-1:30...I called to fix and they said that I had to reschedule and that they don't deliver that late. I'm guessing no one has jobs and can wait around all day for the appliance men... asked for my money back and they refused to give back until 72 hours later...I paid cash... Charlie the manager was rude and blatantly called me a liar and that this wasn't their problem.. I went to the district manager and went over all their heads...rec. my refund that night...did not dismiss the rudeness though.... a pointer for home depot*** possibly learn from lowes. I went there with my refund and they were grateful...even got a call the next day thanking me for my purchase.... they deliver at normal times and work with the customers and don't call them liars!!!! read more

I have had two situations in the past few weeks of very poor customer service involving in-store pickups. I called today to speak to the store manager - John - about my experiences. I heard nothing but excuses and the defending of his employees rather than efforts to address and resolve my complaints.  He continued to tell me how short-staffed he was and how we were "in the middle of a pandemic".  I felt he was trying to deflect from the real problem and that is the poor service his employees exhibited to me as a customer.  When I challenged him on his position of this being a 'pandemic', he promptly said he had nothing more to say to me and then hung up on me.  If this is the kind of response and treatment I will get from a Home Depot Store Manager, then I can expect nothing better from its own employees.  I am done with this store!  I will gladly drive an hour into St. Louis to get better treatment and better service than this or buy online. read more

BUYER BEWARE! after spending over ten grand on a home remodel it was amazing how poorly I was treated. after waiting 2 weeks for kitchen cabinets to come in no one bothered to contact me to inform me they had arrived than I was told the quickest they could deliver was on Saturday from noon to 2pm so I paid my construction workers to work on Saturday. by 2pm nothing had arrived so I called and was informed delivery would be closer to 4pm so after waiting hours and paying employees to stand around on a Saturday I sent them home. the manager couldn't have been any more rude and told me he could refund my money. you have to be kidding. what I should have done was cancel the cabinets, the $2500 counter tops and the $2000 in appliances but by this point I could not due to a deadline. after I told him home depot was costing me a lot of money he stated that he had no clue why. obviously besides being an idiot he has no clue about home remodels than he stated that they would drop the cabinets off Monday morning on the curb and that they would not even bring them in and laughed. WOW great customer service. than my countertops were not in stock which put me another 2 weeks behind. why is home depot selling anything that is not in stock? than I received a lousy $90 mail in rebate after I spent over ten grand. their a 11% mail in rebate is a scam. this was just a few of the disasters that happened so after screaming and yelling over the nightmare remodel thanks to home depot and the money that they cost me on all of their screw ups I was informed I need to take my business elsewhere. duh why would I ever spend one more dollar at home depot ever. We went to the store location, this past weekend, talked to Mark in the flooring dept., we picked everything out, made it simple only 2 different types of flooring, he said he could get us measured on Friday, he mentioned nothing about charging us to measure the floors. Then I call today to place the order and get things measured, (which we already gave him all the dimensions of the home), talked to Daniel, he was rude and had me on hold for quite some time, then he couldn't find my order which was suppose to be under my number, then he finally found it. I was told I would have to pay for floors to be measured, which I wasn't told at all with Mark. Daniel was cocky when he said, "well, that is the way it is." I asked for the Gen. Mngr. to discuss this and after 4 minutes on hold, Asst. Mngr. Charlie, gets on the phone and he was the same as Daniel, uncaring, too bad, next week is the first they have and I have to pay the measuring fee. I explained all this lengthy time and my time deadline to get this completed, Charlie could have cared less about my time, being a customer, or taking ownership for his staff and lack of professionalism. When I told him this was not acceptable, Charlie said, "I'm sorry YOU feel that way." How else would I feel??? I am waiting for the Gen. Mngr., John, to call me today, we will see how this goes.. Had the best service today! I went in not sure if I'd be able to get what I needed for a project for my classroom but thought I would try. I had been to one other store and was told it was impossible to do and they couldn't cut wood to my needed dimensions. I walked in and waited a few minutes but the employees knew I was there and made sure to ask if I needed anything while I waited. It was my turn and I explained my project (I'm trying to turn milk crates in to seats for my classroom) and was immediately taken back to the lumbar section and was told they could cut me the amount and size I needed on the spot!! It gets better though. Since I am a teacher one of the employees made small talk and asked about the project really making me feel better about the whole experience and seemed to know I was going to be purchasing this with my own money. We found the wood but then I notice the guy looking around a pile of scraps and I'm a bit confused but hey he knows more than I do so I just wait. He pulls out this piece of wood that looks almost the exact size I need but just in small squares. He cuts it and gives it to me no charge since it was scraps, making this project so much more affordable and honestly turning my day around completely! Thank you so much!! read more

So I decided to order Dish Washer from Home Depot. If you ever do this DO NOT have it delivered to your home. What a mistake. The delivery company Linn Star Transfer does their deliveries and it's a royal pain. They give you a window of time - DO NOT believe it. They 1st told me 12-4pm so I said OK, well I had it delivered to my business. They called at 425 pm and said running late it will be another 30-45 min. The dispatch called and she was one rude person, basically said if they don't delivery today it will be another week at least. I said I will just return to Home Depot and order from Lowes - this is stupid. She said go ahead. Well went to Home Depot talk to Appliance Manager. They will reschedule and work out details to delivery during business hours. Yep, they sure did got a call that it was going to be delivered from 8:00 AM and 8:00pm. This delivery service is Joke. I talked to Home Depot manager in O'Fallon IL and he was basically to bad and if you send back dishwashers he going to charge me 10% restocking fee. In the end they did finally get my dishwashers 1 1/2 weeks later then thought. Finally word I will never buy Appliances unless absolutely needed from Home Depot again. I will NEVER HAVE THEM DELIVERY USING LINN STAR TRANSFER - they DO NOT car about your time. read more
