This review is specifically about the free monthly Kids Workshops. My daughter absolutely LOVES the monthly workshops which are held every 1st Saturday of the month. Spots fill up quick! Sign ups open the 1st Saturday of the month for the next month and are usually full within a couple days. What you get: a free kid sized Home Depot apron (just like the workers wear!), a wooden toy to put together, instructions, a commemorative pin, and a little certificate of completion. They have paint and hammers out to paint and put together the craft. We've been coming for over a year and we absolutely love it! We especially love when they have vehicles like planes, construction vehicles, and emergency vehicles! We also love functional toys like piggy banks and trinket holders! They are pretty well made and last a while. Go to the Home Depot website and click or search for Kids Workshops to see what crafts are available for the next couple of months! read more

I'm not handy... Not at all but I am crafty so I do come up with spoliations at times when needed and here at Home Depot it's a matter of how to fix it. In the past I had a project to create photo backdrop stand out of pvc pipes and with the help of the internet got my confidence to give it a try and was nice to know that they had pvc cutter right there for anyone to use...super handy so just purchased my pipes and used their cutter for free was absolutely a great service as we all don't have such items but is nice to know that is there. On this particular visit I was looking for containers and with the cute little size though that would be a great storage as it stacks for a quick and easy was to keep myself organized. The staff is very nice and helpful though can be difficult to find at times but always an adventure to search for items to fit that project that I have no idea how to get it done...this place inspire me. I definitely will drive to the Kapolei location. The customer service here totally stinks. I came here first thing in the morning to purchase an item. Upon arrival I needed to find out a location of an item since the location wasnt listed online is approached a worker named Sina and she looked at me like why are you bothering me look. She looked up the item to find land apparently there wasn't a location, she kept trying to call someone tk find the location but didn't tell me what she was doing while picking uo the phone. Finally maybe after 25 min she finally said I have to ask someone because it didn't show a location and was able to tell me it was located in the front of the store. Customer service should always be a priority not make someone feel bothered. read more

The parking lot is poorly managed. You get there and they barricade parts of the way just because they don't want people using it as a shortcut to bypass the super long traffic light. This irritates me cause it now takes so long for people just to get in. We went there to do their kids workshop. They set a tiny space out for so many who attend. However, if you don't sign up ahead of time they at least have spare crafts for the kids to do from the prior workshops which is great. 1. They need to use their space better. 2. Who cares if cars are passing through the parking lot. Don't make it inconvenient for your customers too. read more

It was my first time at this Home Depot. I live in town, so I usually go to the one in Iwilei, next to Costco. As with all Home Depots this place is huge. It's hard to find someone to help you. I was at the Iwilei one first. They didn't have what I was looking for, so I went to the newest one in Mapunapuna. They also didn't have it, so here I am at the Pearl City location. I needed two obscured windows jalousies. They had it, but only in one size. They had the 24 inch, but I needed the 30 inch. I guess I'll need to look elsewhere. read more

There was only one staff that had knowledge and customer service skills. Everyone else walks around ignoring customers until I had to approach an associate for help. The "Mexican" which he so proudly announced intruded in my conversation about respect. I reminded him he's not appreciated. The "manager" that i requested to speak with was at the front ignoring customers on his phone. I wish I didn't need to go there today, but I needed a Ryobi product. read more

We need a specific hollow blocks and only this store carry it. It's kinda a long drive but doesn't matter when you are doing a project that needs to be done. This location has plenty of parking too and you got lots of choices on such. The staffs here were helpful but always on a rush. I'm a sucker for any store with a garden shop. Got plants? I'll get there sooner or later. I simply don't believe I've never written a review for this store as I've been in and out for years....like when they fist opened we bought floor tile here and that was 1999. I've bought ceiling fans, light fixtures, lumber, faucets and plants, lots of plants. When this store first opened you practically had your own personal shopping assistant. Walk in and look lost...someone would be at your elbow to walk you to an associate who not only could get you the stuff you thought you needed, they would tell you everything you needed to get the job done. Who knew you needed to put tape on the threads of a water pipe to insure it was leak proof? Who knew there were kits to drop the ceiling fans? Who knew when you put tile on the floor of your bathroom the toilet needs to be raised? I miss the days when you didn't have to search for someone to help you. Now every associate is busy stocking shelves or replacing items the lazy ass customers leave everywhere but where they got it. You got a question...try online or YouTube and bring a list. I don't fault the business it's just time times we live in. I still like Home Depot, I still continue to shop here, I still love their garden shop. read more

Buying fertilizer in Pearl City, Oahu, Hawaii... After a lot of thought, I finally decided to get the Miracle-Gro fertilizer in a large container (instead of the box). The employee at the Iwilei location of Home Depot said that the container is a dollar more than the box and has double the amount of fertilizer! Good deal, right? So, when my friends wanted to go to the Pearl City location of Home Depot, it was like a dream come true! I went straight to The Garden Center and grabbed the container of Miracle-Gro. Since I was there, I checked out the Clearance Section. Yay! I saw a plant that I've always wanted: a Red Tower Plant (curcuma). Even though it looked a bit dry at the tips of the leaves, half off is a bargain that I can't pass up! I'm sure that I can revive it! I went to the self-checkout area and scanned my items. The plant didn't show half off, so, I had to call the nice employee to help me. No problem! Later, in the parking lot, I read the directions on the fertilizer container. Uhg. I would have to mix the Miracle-Gro with water and fertilize every two weeks. Pass. I went back inside to return it. I was directed inside to Customer Service where I got a refund on my credit card. Whew! So... Five Stars for an easy return and a plant on sale! Thank you!!! read more

Stopped in for some PVC pieces. The Kapolei location did not have them and I was happy to see that the Pearl City Location did. I made a on-line purchase which was ready in several hours! Whoohoo! It was quick! I drove down shortly after. This parking lot is a little dark. I was able to find parking near the entrance which was a plus. When I arrived to the customer service counter, an employee greeted me and helped me at the next register right away. He was really kind and found my order. I requested a print out of my receipt which he willingly printed and wished me a good evening. I did not have a chance to look around but was very happy with the service that the employee who helped me displayed. Love that they have an on-line purchase option. I could have done curbside pick up as well but I needed a receipt printed so I did not mind walking in as it was not crowded. Curbside closes at 8pm in case you do decide to do curbside pick up. Home Depot is great for your hardware needs. Easy place to get lost but I like looking around when I have the time and I also love their plant selection! read more

I knew what I wanted thanks to the Home Depot app but the sales rep where we was at kept questioning us to what did we need and if we found everything and he wasn't even helping us look for what we wanted. He just wanted to know what I was going to do with what I bought and about the I was going to put inside and if it was for a special event. Maybe I wasn't in the mood of talking about my private life since I already knew what I wanted and where it was at. Oh, I forgot to add, it was under the rug that he didn't help me look. The first one we touched he said was the biggest but no, it was under a carpet thing that I think didn't belong there. Then I went to check out on my own and this guy says something and I'm so busy just trying to pay and he mumbles it again and so I look at him and said excuse me? Puzzled at what is he doing with what I bought. Then he says, I'm just going to look inside to be sure you didn't forget anything. I felt like saying so what! You think I'm f*n stealing!!! OMG! Today was not the day so I just said if it makes you happy go look. There's nothing in it. He looks then closes it then says just making sure you didn't forget. Brah! I went into the store got what I wanted and wanted to leave so please! Again, maybe I wasn't in the mood. But then I'm trying to pay and wait for my change and who is right beside me and doesn't say a word!!! A chick with the Home Depot apron on and she's watching me put in my money and take my change. I was like really??? But since I had things to do I was like out of there before they tail me to my car!!! I must look like a thief! I explained I had been given a weedwacker as a gift, but the screws to assemble the guard & auxiliary handle were missing and I don't have the receipt. He said to bring it down, ask for Charlie, and he would help me assemble it. I get there, and Charlie tells me it must have been purchased from a competitor because HD doesn't carry that brand. He tells me to follow him, and he will help me with the assembly anyway. He did it in a few minutes, and couldn't have been nicer and kinder about it. I spoke with the store asst mgr, Lance, and shared my commendation on Charlie with him. Awesome customer service, especially since it wasn't even their product. Much mahalo! In early May, I paid for a carpet measurement with Home Depot Waipahu, with the hope of having the installation completed by the end of June. After weeks of waiting for a scheduling call, I finally had the measurement appointment on May 23rd. At that time, I was told I would receive the measurements within 2-3 days. It is now nearly a month later, and I still have not received them. Unfortunately, the possibility of a June installation is no longer feasible. What's most disappointing is the lack of communication. I have received no updates or explanations--only a vague mention of computer issues. Sometimes, this store has items that I really wanted to get, if the other store in town (Mapunapuna or Iwilei (in Honolulu), didn't have it in stock. It was clean and well stocked. I have never been to the Mapunapuna branch yet (the old 99 Ranch Market/Moanalua). I usually use the restroom before I leave. We did visit this place quite a few more times and nothing stood out to update my first review. Today, they had a greeter at their entrance that acknowledged us and we asked close to 10 associates questions about locating items we were interested in picking up. Every single one was so courteous and helpful...total opposite from my first review. We went there to pick up a $6 item but ended up spending over $100. Buyer Beware!!! There is now a 90 day return policy for everyone. Even if you have a Pro X Acct, unless you have a Pro X Credit Card, 90 day return policy. Just threw away $525 as they would absolutely not return my sliding door. Thought I had a year to return but nope, 90 days. This store is not for the home builders any more! This is my go to for anything home renovation related. I love "The Pot" and so does it pup Mochi. I love that she's allowed to wander the store with me because she just loves going holo holo here. I think it's because lots of people bring their dogs so there's tons of smells for her. I also like that they give 10%off for military/veterans. Not sure why, but I do prefer the pot over Lowe's. I will say it's a lot easier to get help here vs Lowe's. They've got competitive pricing and sometimes when stuff is on sale it's a super good deal. I always like checking out the fridge section. I think that's how I know I'm getting old lol there's always plenty parking and the self checkout speeds up getting outta there though sometimes the line can be long. read more
