I have visited Home Depot many times over the past 25 years because they are the only store in town other than local hardware stores. I try to avoid Home Depot whenever I can. The store is usually a mess and there is never anyone around to help you. Occasionally, there is someone that is helpful and knowledgeable, but those times are few and far between. The last visit was to purchase a new microwave during tax free weekend. I expected the store to be busy, so I arrived early. The microwave I wanted to purchase was not in stock (Of course), so I asked to order it and have it delivered to the store. I was told by the associate that it could not be delivered to the store, and would have to be delivered to my home. I asked if there would be a delivery fee, and was told that there shouldn't be because he had just sold a new refrigerator that was going to be delivered at no charge. I placed the order, and when we got to the delivery page of the order, I was informed that there was indeed a $39.00 fee for delivery. I asked why it couldn't be delivered to the store at no charge, and was told he didn't know. It was busy, so I let it go with the intention of contacting Home Depot directly, but I wasn't happy. I contacted Home Depot through their website Chat window and the person I was chatting with told me to go back to the store and ask the store manager why there was a delivery fee. When I asked to speak with his supervisor, I was told it would be a 5-10 minute wait, and at the 11 minute mark, I was hung up on, and the chat window disappeared. When I returned home, I emailed HDCares.com and asked the same questions and found out that not only do they not care, they don't respond to emails. Pretty disappointing. I will give their delivery service a good mark because the microwave was delivered in 4 days, and they communicated well via email. My suggestion is to avoid Home Depot whenever possible. There are a couple of Lowes stores, but they're over an hour away. I have always found Lowes to be a clean, neat and well run store, at least the 3 I have visited in the past few years. The associates I have spoken to when there have been plentiful and helpful. I wish we had a Lowes that was local. read more

I went to Home Depot the beginning of January when my refrigerator died. I was told that the warehouse had 100 of the make and model I chose and it would be delivered in 4 days. Needless the say, I did not get it in 4 days. it was rescheduled for delivery now 6 times! it's been six weeks and I still have no refrigerator. I don't recommend buying an appliance from them! There was a website price error (just a few dollars) between what I was shown on the webpage and what appeared in my cart. And online customer service made me waste an hour of my precious time, all while Alex refused to adjust the price (he kept investigating it). Home Depot is a bad business, and Alex is a bad person. Terrible experience with Home Depot's carpet service. I ordered a carpet on December 30, 2024, with installation scheduled for January 23, 2025. It was delayed by ACS, then rescheduled for February 3, 2025--only to be delayed again because the carpet **still** hasn't been shipped. I've contacted ACS, Home Depot Customer Care, and spoke to the Pittsfield store. Everyone says they're "working on it," but nothing has been resolved. I've lost two days of pay waiting for appointments that never happened, and my house is a mess from prepping for installations that didn't occur. This has been beyond frustrating. John in the garden department and Vanesha in customer service .Each worked professionally and with personal care to help me with a large deck box to purchase it and get it assembled. They extended themselves above and beyond what was expected to make certain I had what I needed and to get it assembled in a timely way. Home Depot should be proud of these two employees . He took the time to look up what I was came in for, locate the stock not yet on the shelf, retrieve it and find me while I was shopping for other things to hand it to me. After being on hold for WAY too long - as long as TWENTY MINUTES before having someone pick-up their telephone to ask me how they can help me, and then me saying I am on hold waiting for the OTHER staff person to find some info for me, I hear, "Oh... okay", and BACK ON HOLD AGAIN! Usually the person trying to help me really has no clue... SERIOUSLY not a clue how to help a customer! So, how-in-heck can the company ask us to allow them to help us? When you take them up on it_ NOT GONNA HAPPEN! When I have finally had enough with the telephone fiasco and GO to the store in person, it can, at times, be like walking through a WASTELAND, with it being near-impossible to find an associate to help you. And when you DO see one, they will often times TOTALLY IGNORE YOU. I don't have enough fingers to count how many times I have just stood there in plain sight of one of them, yet NOT ONCE had I ever been asked if I needed help. They just walk right past, or stand there, sometimes talking to their friend on a cell phone. Really, the only reason the store has ANY business is due to their being the ONLY Big-Box store of their kind in our area. But guess what? I am starting to LOVE the smaller hardware stores, as THEY seem to care about this customers' needs a TON more than Home Depot. PERIOD! read more

I've seen HD decline significantly in the last 25 years. This particular location is the worst store I've ever visited. They are often out of stock on common items, the staff go out of their way to avoid helping customers, and they will inexplicably cancel orders for delivery without notice. Today I had to make a modification for an order for delivery. My first call was disconnected. My second call was a 30 minutes hold, only to be told by a less than pleasant sales associate that she could not modify the order. I ended up canceling the order completely, a total waste of time. This HD only survives because there are no alternatives in the area. Any kind of competition would force them to improve significantly or disappear. I'd welcome a Lowe's nearby, I'd switch immediately. read more

This Home Depot is poor compared to others. I have a pro account. I travel around a lot so I go to other Home Depot's even though this one is closest to me as the lumber is more picked over than most and things are frequently out of stock. They also are inconsistent on their price match polity; several times I have been told they will not price match Lowe's because there is not one within 50 miles. This is not their written policy. My wife and I were at Home Depot in Pittsfield, MA to look at bathroom vanities. We were hoping to buy one there and to make arrangements to have it installed. We found the few vanities they have in stock and looked for someone to talk to about the details of getting it installed. After more than half an hour of waiting an obese, sloppily dressed, rude employee wearing a filthy orange apron asked us what we wanted. Not "Hi, how are you?" Not "How may I help you?" Instead, "What do you want?" My wife asked him to pull up his mask from around his chin. He replied "Why, will it make you feel better?" His sneering answers to our questions about the process of buying and installing a vanity left me speechless. I took my wife's elbow and walked her away. At the service desk where we went to complain we were treated even more rudely--before we ever mentioned why we were there! Needless to say, we won't be buying our bathroom vanity or anything else ever again from this company. P.S. too bad zero stars is not an option. read more

Don't buy any appliances from this location and if you do make sure they hook them up to do test loads. SINCE YOU ONLY HAVE 48HRS TO EXCHANGE from delivery date. Customer services is terrible to deal with. I purchased a brand new Maytag washer and have to have it serviced before I even get to use it and they refuse to exchange it. read more

Went here to get a gallon of paint to paint my living room, and the woman at the paint center (Victoria) did not make eye contact with me, and kept doing something. I did not get a "hello", "I'll be with you in one second", I got no interaction from her and I was the only one standing at the counter. She then decided it was a good idea to walk away without even telling me and came back a couple minutes later and STILL did not greet me. She kept doing something else (whatever it was she was doing) instead of politely telling me she would just be a moment to assist me. I was very irritated with my experience here and I am probably going to go elsewhere for my home needs. read more

Home Depot stores are generally horrible but this location is by far worse than you could ever imagine!! There is almost never any clerks to cash you out- have fun at the self check out line!! Also, the quality of people working here as everyday workers is atrocious! Lazy, stupid, and never a care about actually helping people !!! (Aside a few select good employees). Avoid ordering anything from Home Depot if you have a time critical need for it to arrive or need it anywhere near when they promise it will arrive. This was for a circuit breaker panel that is preventing a critical project from moving forward and due to inspection requirements the entire remainder of the project is on hold because of this. This part was so critical that after placing the order I even called them to make sure that it was available and would ship as promised, and on this and several follow up calls was repeatedly promised that it would. Either through total incompetence or sheer duplicity, they lied about when it would ship, claimed it had shipped (and it hadn't) promised follow up calls about its status which never happened. Worse than that, they told me it has actually shipped and gave me, only after multiple calls, a tracking number (the tracking information is supposed to appear on the web site, but of course it didn't). When the alleged part arrived, it was for a minor accessory part, even though their web site claimed the total order was shipped complete. When I called them at first they claimed the complete order had shipped, sent e-mail claiming that, and after waiting over an hour on several calls they finally admitted that the critical part wasn't even in stock and was back ordered, and wouldn't ship for over a month. I am convinced their systems are so screwed up they really have no idea what is in stock. (BTW, the web site still claims that the order was shipped complete). When I suggested that they compensate me for the cost difference in my now being forced to buy the part at a local electrical supply house who has it in stock, due to HD's incompetence, they basically laughed at me. I suggested that an honest and ethical company would "own their admitted mistake" and they repeatedly said they would, which I now understand to mean "we're sorry" is their definition of owning a mistake. Amazon had the part in stock when I first placed the order with HD (it no longer is) and my only regret is that I simply didn't order it from Amazon in the first place, I will avoid shipping at HD (either on the web or in person) and its clear that this company is incompetent at best and unethical in its dealings with customers. read more

Tried to reach a specific department by phone - nobody bothers to answer their automated line and when they do you are shunted to people who have no connection to why you are calling. Terrible service plain and simple. You are better off shopping at True Value, Ace, etc. Home Depot sends a clear message to me as a customer: we don't want your business or your money. read more

He is top-notch, and I highly recommend him as a perfect example of management and customer service. I did not really have an opinion about the store prior to talking to Matt. Unbelievably rude staff! Employees seem overtired most of the time or just angry to be there (because they're certainly not busy). Store has poor selection and horrible costumer service. I'm sure the only reason this location is still open is because they have no competition in the area. If you're a woman, don't expect anyone to help you carry heavy stuff or assistance getting any heavy item off a higher shelf; male and female employees will walk by you without even acknowledging you are standing there in front of their eyes in desperate need of assistance; and if you ask for help, prepare to receive a snooty look. Most of the workers don't even know where the items are located inside the store, so before you get there, be ready to waste the first 10 minutes walking around looking for an associate that's willing to help you, and after that another 10 minutes to figure out yourself where to find what you're looking for. read more

When trying to resolve issues with a Home Depot credit card, I found the Citibank personnel who oversee the credit card operation inconsiderate and obnoxious. They talk over you and are very nasty. Home Depot should choose another company to handle their cards!! Don't use Home Depot credit cards!! read more
