Compared to other Home Depot locations, the Poway location is cleaner, less crowded and its parking lot isn't a death trap of crazy cars, shopping carts and other random objects. Selection-wise it's pretty standard and the same as the rest. Prices are pretty much on par with Amazon so it's a good place to go when you're in a pinch and need something immediately. My only complaint is that sometimes service is frustrating when you can't find an employee when you need help finding something or getting a key cut. read more

This is by far my favorite Home Depot location. It is larger than some other Depots, and always has what I need, when other locations are frequently out of stock on popular items. Big shout out to Renee in the garden center, I called around to 4 stores looking for some specific plants I wanted to give my daughter as a gift since she just bought a house, and 3 of the other Home Depot stores I called told me they were out of stock on the plants, without even looking. When I called the Poway store, Renee in the garden center told me she would go look, they were in several different locations around the garden area. When she got back to the phone, she had located 5 of the exact plants that I wanted, and offered to put them aside for me (despite being a busy Saturday afternoon). When I got to the store, Renee greeted me with a big smile , by name even (!) , and had the plants already loaded up in a cart for me. I very much appreciate Renee going above and beyond, saving me from driving all over San Diego looking for something that probably was not to be found. read more

My daughter and I went to get our tree. Usually we go to the Carmel Mt. Ranch store but we happened to be up in Poway running errands so we stopped by here 1st. They have such a great selection, beautiful and fresh and the area is shaded which is nice for the employees and the trees. It seems like every year prices go up but we picked out a nice, full 5-6' tree and it was just under $50. The staff is great, very nice. Bailey helped us with our tree, he cut the bottom and even offered to help us take it the car if we needed it (we had it though). After going to my local Home Depot only to find their saw was broken, I drove to the Poway store. No one was back in the lumber area, had to ask 3 employees if anyone was available to cut wood, after a couple of calls I was told someone would be there in a bit. I asked for 18" to be cut off THREE TIMES. When he pulled it off the saw, I thought it was wrong but he had the sophisticated machine. Got home, and you guessed it, he cut off 22 inches. Had it been too little, I could have recut but this is a total waste of my materials, time, money and gas. My advice, bring your own tape measure and measure yourself at the saw. During a recent renovation I was at the Home Depot in Poway every other day. I met some really nice staff but the lack of staff especially in electronics keeps this from 5 stars. One day while staring at wall switches and trying to figure out what to get for ceiling fans another customer and I overheard a man on his cell phone. Deplorable. Not enough workers on the aisles/floor or registers during riush hour. -was looking up and down a few adjacent aisles for 10+ minutes and there were no flloor associates. Plenty of customers on the floor but not enough workers to help you find a product. - stood in line for 15+ minutes during rush hour. Store did not open any registers. There were only 2 open and customers decide to have a conversation at the register and hold up the line. -asked a worker if they can open a register and she said no. -deplorable---reminds me of the customer service/product return line at walmart. Very disappointed about my purchase online. Ordered a grille on the 9th paid for delivery they said it would be delivered on the 10th great get a call sorry it won't be delivered till Monday. Ok Monday came and went no grille called Tuesday they said Wednesday. Wednesday came and went now Friday. Grille comes Friday looks like its the floor model has a large zip tied price tag on it with a large dent in the front and scratched up on the front. Plugged it in doesn't come one but an Error. Looking at the manual it says needs to be replaced. Called they said could I bring it in and I'm thinking thats why I paid for delivery I don't have a truck anymore. They said they would pick it up on Monday and I would have to order a new one. Common sense is they would have brought one out and replace the one that doesn't work. I almost became a FORMER Home Depot customer recently after being a loyal one for over 20 years, but the credit for bringing me back goes to this super star: CYNTHIA PEELE (aka Cindy Lou), Appliance Specialist at at Home Depot, Tech Center Dr, Poway CA. If you're looking for the definition of EXCELLENT customer service her name would be next to it and because of her, I'm back to shopping at Home Depot. Here's why.... On 5/3/23, I purchased a refrigerator online, but their system would not let me include the haul away of the old refrigerator, a $50 charge that I was more than willing to pay. I thought this would be a simple issue to resolve especially since I was still a week out from delivery. So, I called Home Depot's 800 number and ended up speaking to 3 different people. Each stated that their system did not allow any modifications to the order. I was finally told to call the store processing the order, the Mira Mesa store, which should be able to contact the delivery company directly. I then spoke to 3 people at the Mira Mesa store who also said the system didn't allow modifications to the order and was told they couldn't contact the delivery company because there was no way to charge it in the system. I felt like each Home Depot rep was more interested in getting me off the phone than truly trying to find a resolution to what I thought was a simple issue. I even suggested that I could come into the store before delivery to pay for the haul away but was once again told "the system will not allow that"....uggggg Needless to say I was extremely frustrated that Home Depot was willing to lose a $2,300 order over a system issue that didn't allow it to add a $50 haul away fee. The next day as I was running errands, I decided to pop into the Home Depot store in Poway to cancel this order as it was the closest store to where I was at the time. Even though she was busy, Cindy listened to my concerns and could tell that I was frustrated dealing with this order. She then said she would try to help me (even though my purchase was through another store) and contacted their 800 number. She suggested that they email the delivery company to let them know that the customer wanted a haul away and waited on the phone until she saw the notes in the system (she also advised that Home Depot might charge me later for the haul away to which I was okay with)...wow..30 minutes later, she'd found a mutually acceptable resolution and had taken care of an issue that I'd spent 2 days trying to resolve on my own. Not one of the SIX, I repeat 6 other Home Depot representatives had suggested a simple email. Cindy apologize for my experience with this order and let me know that I could come into her store anytime if I have questions/concerns regarding appliances. She stated that she believes in helping any customer regardless of which Home Depot store gets the credit for an order because it's one Home Depot (how great is that that an employee would look at their store/position in a global company-wide way). Cindy is friendly, knowledgeable and emits a positive energy that's contagious. She appears to provide the kind of service that she would like if she was the customer. Cindy definitely put the "Customer" back into customer service for me. I walked into her store frustrated, disappointed with Home Depot and ready to cancel a $2,300 order. I walked out without canceling the order and feeling better about Home Depot. Truck renters beware! I rented a truck with dolly that I did not use anyway. When I returned the truck, did walk through, they clearly saw dolly was there, yet they charged me $62.08 claimed it was missing. I notice on invoice as salvage fee. I called and asked what is that mean? They said because dolly was missing. What! I called and told them they made a mistake. Dolly was returned, and they checked it off as returned. Sales person remembered me and apologized they made a mistake. Now, they expect me to drive 40 min to get my $62.08 because that's the only way I can get it back. It was there Negligence,yet they refuse to give me store credit so I can use at home depot near me, and refuse to credit back on my card. They rather cause me more inconvenience and stress by driving there and get in person. Another scam way not to give money back. That is a load of crap! If Anyone rented a truck there before, you should check your invoice. They probably attach that feed either way, hoping no one would notice. I call that a crime. read more

What ever happened to the great customer service I could count on at Home Depot? After wandering around the store looking for something, I found an employee at the self check out who was about about as helpful as a rock. I spent 5 more minutes wandering around. Finally found my item. Went back to the self check out because the other registers were closed. However out of 6 self check outs, only 2 were open. "The Rock "was there again, took about 10 minutes to put in register tape one of the two working registers. An older man was using the other one and clearly having trouble. After waiting forever, my one item I came in to purchase didn't have a tag on it. I asked her (the rock) if there was any other way to ring it up. She looks at me and shrugs her shoulders. I purchased three pallets of mulch to be delivered by Home Depot. I received an email over a week ago that it would be delivered today. I received another email this morning giving me a two hour window early this morning for delivery. The message said that there were two deliveries ahead of me. The delivery window came and went and I received another two hour window for later in the morning. That window also came and went. A third window for mid-afternoon today came and went. I called three times before I could speak to a live person and they told me that there were three deliveries ahead of me and to expect it before 8 pm tonight. I have been here at home waiting for them all day, unable to run any other errands because they keep giving me a different delivery window (and then not coming through). It's incredibly frustrating. What good is a delivery window if you can just let it slide? Why would the number of deliveries go from two to three and still not be delivered? I don't normally write reviews but I find this incredibly frustrating and terrible customer service. Worst customer service ever. Came here and found a plant which was on sale for $14.99. Went to self check out and there was a woman scanning. They scanned the plant and it came up to $19.99. I said "oh those are on sale" and she said-can you go take a photo of the price and show it to me. I was surprised not to see very many people in the parking lot when I pulled in and then inside the store there were more workers than customers perhaps, it's because of the area and there's a lot of new homes up there that might not get it this time. I have talked to HD which told me that I had to talk to Electrolux myself. (I ordered it from HD., why do I have to talk to the mgf?) Now it's 11/27 and still no refrigerator. No one knows where it is. "It's in the warehouse. It's on the truck." Meanwhile I have no refrigerator and no actual delivery date. No one has ever called me. I have to keep calling. So frustrating! Came here for a Christmas tree today and the gentleman that helped me out with the tree was super friendly. Check out was fast at the garden department and the tree was only $33 which was reasonable. We found what we needed quickly and were on our way with our tree. We were pleased to have found that they had the tree we wanted in stock. Previously, we went to the Home Depot Closer to our home and they didn't have them yet and wouldn't have them until Monday (at least in the 5 feet size). HOME DEPOT in POWAY HARASSED and ATTACKED CUSTOMER. Their customer service drastically decline since Covid 19. What happened with Customer is #1, or customers are always right, or want to keep customers happy. The previous reviews posted about their poor customer service are true and I confirmed with my couple recent experiences. This store LACKS CUSTOMER SERVICE and employees are incompetent and would mess up customers. They need to properly train their employees based on the expertise of the specific department like Dixieline. They cannot bring Renee from another department to work at Doors and Windows. Renee can fake customers to think that she knows the products when she does not have the knowledge. If I had followed her advice to get the hinges for the interior doors without checking with my installer, it would have been problematic. Another concern is that Renee was rude, unprofessional, incompetent and unapologetic for the mess she created with ordering/delivering the wrong patio sliding door and ironically attempted to lie and to shift the responsibility to her customer. She took the measurements from assigned Home Depot contractor and failed to follow his measurements. As you can see in the invoice she wrongfully placed the wrong size of 92.25x92.5 instead of 92.75x93 from the measurements Home Depot contractor. It had been 2 weeks since the wrong door delivered and nothing have resolved. They gave me a run around with misinformation and the only way I can connect with the Poway store is through calling Customer Care. Customer care representatives are apologetic for the Poway's store behaviors of employees like Renee, Lorraine or Lorene - customer order specialist at this store and Taylor - manager on duty. These three were all ganging and in conspiracy with verbal accusation on customer who paid $1600 for the patio sliding door that was ordering wrong by them. Their accusations and made up lies like customer knew about it as how would customer knows when they are supposed to be door experts then instead of accepting that Renee did not take the correct measurements from her contractor and attempted to call out to customer saying that customer used customer's own measurements. Despite their mistakes, I put it aside and willing to give them another opportunity. Unfortunately I was very shocked to see how they misbehaved by attempting to trick me with the replacement order and forcing me to sign a waiver in pre-stamped paragraph that I am fully 100% responsible for replacement order based on customer's measurements. After reading it and signed, I added that it was not customer measurements but it was Home Depot measurements. I wanted to review and they panicked that I added The true fact that replacement order would use Home Depot measurement, they attempted to grab the order replacement paper out of my hand and I took it back trying to take a photo of the contract for my lawyer to review. They got rowdy and forcefully grabbed the paper out of my hand that part of the paper was torn. It got bad so I told them that I would seek for legal authority to handle this matter. These employees' behaviors are intolerable. Rude is one bad thing but forcefully grabbing paper out of customer's hands and not allowed customers to review and get legal review is shady business and the handling using physical forces from both Renee and Taylor was intolerable. I felt I was a VICTIM of Home Depot ATTACK . This is ZERO tolerance and store manager, corporate manager need to take immediate action to take care of their customer in a professional manner and take immediate disciplinary actions on abusive employees: Renee, Taylor and Lorraine. This was such an AWFUL experience. I'm a loyal customer to bring businesses to Home Depot and they messed me up in addition to abusive me as well. Such a shameful acts! Unprofessional and they acted like gangster. Customers like me bring Home Depot good businesses which in turn keeping their people employed. With the continuing decline in customer service, Home Depot will definitely lose good customer customers to their competitors and there will be laid off in their store. read more

This Home Depot earned my respect, unlike the previous location I visited, because when they said they would help me with something, they did. I came came in looking for a variety of items, including a 2 gallon plastic pale with a lid, some LED indoor and outdoor lights, and some house hold cleaning solutions that I will probably never use. My visit was very smooth, and the gent who help me find what I needed and make up my decision was very helpful and cordial. He walked me over to all the items I needed and helped me pick out the correct LED lights for what I needed them for. I purchased the white plastic bucket for a great price and a large spray bottle of Windex and a large bottle of 409, lemon scented by the way, both at competitive prices. This message is for the store management. Recently I've noticed that a lot of young adults were hired to work at the store. I don't like that for one simple reason - they are lacking attitude and knowledge. Today, around 2:40 pm, two young adult customers who were not wearing their masks went through the self check out buying soda and no one stoped them or said a word ( there was a young lady in charge at the self check out) Then they went to the Pro area and started chatting with two young adult cashiers ( male and female). It looked like a social gathering to me but I might be mistaken. I inquired, as to why the Home Depot is servicing customers who are not wearing masks. I haven't received an answer to my question, just silence..... Not to mention that one of the "customers" who was not wearing a mask showed me all his teenager's attitude. I own a construction business and my priority is to keep my customers safe. I would really appreciate Home Depot assisting me in this matter. read more

Purchased and had installed Mohawk carpet installed through Home Depot. One room the carpet was installed in is rarely used and a low traffic room. The carpet lost its ability to stand up and lays flat in a large area. It is very noticeable. This happened at less than 2 years after the install. Home Depot sent an inspector and the inspector agreed that it wasn't right and the carpet shouldn't have done that. Home Depot denied the claim to repair/replace even after there inspector said it was not right. Long story short the lifetime product they sell it's not truly lifetime. I do not recommend Home Depot or their Mohawk carpet brand. read more

Do not Trust Poway Home Depot to order windows and possibly anything else. Their Customer Service is extremely poor. They have consistently been giving us misleading information about when to expect the order to be received and causing us to schedule and reschedule our contractors many times. They also misled us consistently on where the order was and the day and time of delivery. After many months delay, when the order finally did arrive, 30% of the order was missing. It took another 3 months before management even communicated with us ( Home Depot personnel were refusing to give me the managers' names or emails until I had to elevate it through their texting message system) and we are still waiting to get refunded. The whole ordeal has been six months so far. This is the most unprofessional and mismanaged business I've ever dealt with. Please do not do business with Poway's Home Depot as their business ethics, customer service department and the whole upper management are so untrustworthy.
