Home Depot has been nothing but an absolute headache. I've gone multiple times and they are unhelpful, if you can even find someone to ask. In addition, they may decide to close early but won't let you know in any way besides putting a sign in their window letting you know their hours for the day. I placed an order pickup for today and I got an email that I could pick up before 8. When I went to pickup, they told me they actually closed at 7 so I'd have to come back. I feel like that could've been sent in the email... like, not a big deal to close early but in this day and age, you could find a way to let people know so they don't waste their time. I had never been to the Home Depot in Poway since two other stores are closer, but this was the only store that had the canopy weights I needed in stock. What a pleasant surprise when I walked in the door and was immediately directed to the right aisle by an employee who also followed up to make sure I found what I was looking for. On my way to the cashier I looked around a bit and was approached by 2 other employees who asked if I needed help. Check out was easy and the parking lot was much better and less hectic than the lots at other stores so it was easy to drive in and out. It may be a bit farther from my house, but I think this is my new "go to" Home Depot store. read more

Though those elements don't usually draw in the typical Home Depot customer, but I'm also not the typical Home Depot customer. I'm usually either tricked or forced to come here by my handyman boyfriend. Home Depot is his playground. His eyes light up as he walks by the aisles of lumber and looks for the right tools for his next home improvement project. As for me? I can usually be found wandering around the Garden Center looking at all the pretty hydrangeas or inside looking at orchids. Occasionally, I'll try to find a friend's name on a plastic Coke bottle by the cash registers. Once, around Christmastime, I tried on all the singing hats! Alright, enough about me. Let's talk about Home Depot & how awesome it is...coming from a girly girl who always ends up here against her will! CUSTOMER SERVICE Wow! Recently came here to purchase some lumber (2x4s and some plywood) to assist in making a work bench...Ron Swanson, formerly of the Parks and Rec Dept, would be so proud of me! We got amazing service from a tall, friendly, and knowledgeable lumberjack employee (forgot his name) who helped us pick the right type of wood for the project. Then, he went over to look for "Ahnuld Schwarzenegger," who ended up being a Hispanic employee named Arnold who worked in the lumber dept. How sick is that! Arnold had such a positive attitude and was very professional. He helped us cut the wood to the right sizes we needed and shared some hilarious stories with us too. Buying & cutting wood couldn't have been more enjoyable! Lmao! Also, on another occasion, I needed to measure if our SUV had enough space to fit the wood we were buying, and the cashier clerk allowed me to borrow her measuring tape, no questions asked. I always appreciate some good ole fashioned trust in the world, so I thought that was pretty cool. In the Garden Center, I wanted help finding an indoor house plant, possibly for my office, and again, all the employees were so helpful in edumacating me. I've also had some positive interactions in the Paint Dept too, and we got everything we needed and some good recommendations for the types of rollers to use with the type of paint we bought. Marquee is awesome! 1 coat is seriously all you need!! PRODUCTS I mean, I can't speak much on this part. My boyfriend always knows what he's looking for, and always finds it here. So far, so good, no complaints...except for maybe the corner & ceiling/wall paint tools we bought. Those were pretty useless, so you might as well just use a brush and do it hands free with blue tape as your guide. OVERALL Great Home Depot location...if there's no free food happening that day, not to worry. You can always head over to Costco right next door and grab a $1.50 hot dog & soda!! Yummmmm. read more

NEVER buy appliances here!! They use a 3rd party delivery service that absolutely SUCKS. Temco Logistics is the company. I wasted half a day waiting for them after they "no showed". Never received a call from Temco for a delivery window. I had to call the store who retrieved it for me. When I was able to track it online, it stated 9/16 between 3-7 PM. My product was on the truck. Nothing. Then the system refreshed on Monday rescheduling me to Oct 8th. I will never purchase anything from Home Depot any longer unless there is no other choice. A couple of weeks ago I went to the Poway Home Depot store. I left after having emptied out the cart and was driving along Poway Rd. when I realized my purse was not with me. I remembered I had left it in the shopping cart. I nearly cried but drove back hoping it be still in the shopping cart or that one good Samaritan or one of the employees had found it. When I got to Home Depot, the cart was empty. I felt a little discouraged but went inside to the customer service desk and asked if someone had found a purse. AND....WHAT DO YOU KNOW!!! A young man stepped forward and said "Yes, I found it, you can pick it up at the Cashiers' counter." I hugged him so happy was I and when I looked at his name tag, it read: JESUS. I visited this Home Depot 2 days ago to pick up some cactus soil. As soon as I walked into the store from the gardening center, I saw a mouse run under a pallet on the back wall by the indoor plant pots. Startled, I let out a small scream. I noticed 3 store staff about 15 feet away staring at me, so I walked over and told them I just saw a mouse. One of the staff, who was friendly, told me that the have a mice problem and they have set traps, but can't seem to catch them. He also mentioned he is glad he wasn't there at night because they would scare him as well. I didn't want to seem like a "paranoid weakling", so I took some deep breaths and walked over to take a look at the indoor plants. I then took a few steps forward to the back wall to look at the flower pots and this big freakin' RAT runs up the pipe on the wall in front of me. This thing was the size of a freakin' cat! I ran out of the store at full speed and I swear I heard the store staff who had been watching me laugh! I mean I guess it was a funny sight, but that was too much for my aging heart. After getting back to the gardening center, I spoke with another very friendly staff member who told me that the big rat has been there for a while and likes that particular corner of the store. I asked if she could go back into the store to get my cactus soil because I was never stepping foot in there again. Checking out at the gardening center, I again spoke of the freakin' big rat and the cashier told me that it was just Stuart Little and I should go home and drink some chamomile tea to calm my nerves. One way or another I always end up at Home Depot which is the complete source. I have 3 Home Depots near me but Tech Center Poway is my favorite branch & my hangout. Why Shop at This Branch? I. Equipment Rental Not all Home Depots have equipment rental but this one does & indeed it has a fine selection of equipment to rent for various projects. If you don't often use a certain equipment, then it is better to rent it & this place has the perfect selection. II. Large Size Branch This is one of the largest Home Depots in San Diego County & is loaded with departments & goodies. III. Variety & Selection This location has the best variety & Selection around. You clearly have a huge selection of products to choose from. IV. Quality Products The location is huge & it sells a lot, so you don't see old & messed up products laying around. I've been visiting the Home Depot store in Poway often the past few weeks and almost every time I go in there is a line of people at the self checkout waiting to gain access to scan and pay for their items. There are at least 4-6 self checkout registers but only 2 that are open. The scanning of items is usually interrupted by a "helpful" sales person who usually slows down the already slow process. It says "self checkout"! Some people need help I guess, but I don't. There are usually 5-6 people waiting in line to check out it would be helpful to have more than 2 self checkout lanes open. It would also be helpful if the staff would stop talking and joking around with each other and help their customers. read more

When I get to the register this heavy set woman one of the ones who were following me around comes to the register cuz the guy couldn't find the bricks in the merchandise page and I told him the two prices cuz there were two different size bricks he didn't believe me when she ran to where we were I told her the situation it's happen b4 where they can't find the items ( bricks) I told her the price she didn't believe me five min go buy I tell her never mind I'm in a hurry so I just buy the screwdriver and blades and I give her the reciept with my card info she looks at it and right away turns giving me her back and is saying something into the walkietalkie not letting me hear it and all of a sudden there's a manager a supervisor and about 6 employees pretty much surounding me as if I had done something ( stealing) she was trying to act all secretly telling me to hold on so the manager comes asks me what's going on?? Wtf going on I was just trying to pay for something the fat bitch acted like she didn't know how to do it when she did she was just pro longing Time I tell him I didn't ask for anything he grabs the paper and says we can't do it I don't know how to? DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE CURTAIN AND BLIND DEPARTMENT. Came in here three weeks ago to get an estimate on replacing some blinds, they charged us $50 (Costco will do it free, BTW) to send someone out to do the measurement which we paid. Subcontractor came out a few days later and did what he had to do and said we would get a call in two a three days max for the estimate. Now three weeks later, no phone call at all. Called to the store last week was told they were behind but someone would get back in one day. A week later still no phone call and I'm on hold and stuck in their endless phone loop. read more

I am a Vietnam Vet, all businesses give me a discount EXCEPT Home Depot. It is only a 10% discount (which most of the time does not cover the sales tax). My gripe is not getting the discount, it is that "Some butt hurt snow flake" tells me I am not a veteran, and not eligible for the discount. I served my country honorably, during war time, I was not "sitting home smoking dope listening to Beatle records". Consequently, I do all my business at Lowe's who excepts the fact that I am a veteran of foreign wars. This review is solely for the Home Depot credit card: I was given the old "want a Home Depot credit card" pitch as I am every time. I finally said yes. I asked if card was able to be managed through Home Depot APP. I was told yes. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. It's managed through Citibank causing you to create an external Citibank account. After all that it's not even a great card. No rewards, no deals, no convenient management through app. APR is between 18%-26%. So pretty much just an orange card with zero perks that's only good at Home Depot, recommend a hard pass on this one folks. read more

Could not curbside Behr Porch Paint, but I could have it delivered. Stupidest thing I have ever heard. Store was not aware of my order after 15 minutes and I was the only one at curbside. I had to contact them twice before they brought out my order after over 20 minutes. I was forced to go inside to buy the porch paint as they would not bring it curbside, but I could have it delivered. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS TO CUSTOMERS. WHO THOUGHT OF THIS STUPID POLICY. THEY SHOULD BE FIRED. ALSO must pick up hand scanner at self check out. This store is usually very slow compared to the Mira Mesa or Carmel Mountain location so you think the employees will have time to give the customers more attention and excellent customer service. Big mistake! The employees here are rude and lazy as can be, when they see a customer you can see the nasty looks in their faces. I had at least 5 different employees quickly walk by me without asking if I needed help which I did. Did I mention there were barely any customers in the store... If you have a choice, go to the Mira Mesa or Carmel Mountain location, the employees there will say hello and assist you with a smile. read more

EDIT: A manager from the Poway Home Depot called and apologized a half dozen times for the experience I had in the store. Although welcomed, I told her that it wasn't necessary, as it wasn't her who was the one "at fault". She also apologized for not coming to speak with me directly and explained someone would be talking to this CSR about what transpired. She then asked if there was anything she could do to help - I told her I had already made a rental reservation at a different business. Thanks for following up but it's too little, too late. I called into the store to inquire about renting a truck. I was informed it was out but would be back around 5PM. I called again at 5:40PM as I checked online and the truck was available. I called the store to confirm and put the truck on hold, but instead, a gentleman answered and I was put on hold. For the next 20 minutes I drove from Carmel Mountain to Poway Home Depot and remained on hold for the entire time. I pulled into Poway Home Depot and hung the phone up after I parked. Upon checking with the rental department, I was informed that the truck had just been rented. I explained the circumstance of being on hold and the CSR at the desk says, "Well...sorry!" I ask to speak with a store manager, not only because being put on hold for 20 minutes is unacceptable, but for this guy to be catching an attitude about it is uncalled for. A supervisor comes. I ask her if she's the store manager and she explains that she's just the MOD from the plumbing department. I explain the circumstance to her. She makes a call and gives me a $25 "credit" for Poway Home Depot but it CAN'T be used for a truck rental due to some paperwork issue. Okay, fine...I'll reserve a truck for tomorrow and take care of what I need to in the afternoon. Lo and behold, truck rentals can't be reserved, only first come first served, and can only be held for 30 minutes. At this point, the CSR introduces himself and says he was the one who put me on hold. He then begins to tell me it's going to be around 7PM when this truck comes back and I explain to him that I wasn't about to wait for an hour for this truck to come back. He then stops what he's doing and decides he's going to catch an attitude again, raising his hands up in front of him, palms up, like "who cares". This time I say something to him along the lines of, "A truck rental at 7PM isn't going to do me any good, but its uncalled for to catch an attitude and bust my chops". Frustrated, I proceed to leave the store and let him know I'd be sending this email. I can't believe that this is how your employees treat customers. Coming from a customer service background, this kind of behavior is unacceptable a customer-centric business. Needless to say, I have ZERO desire to go in and spend this $25 credit. There are too many other options with "hardware stores" in the surrounding area to have to deal with employees with a bad attitude. This could have easily been resolved with 30 seconds of, "Thanks for holding, how can I help you? Oh, sorry, we just rented the truck out, it won't be back until 7:00 PM." I'd avoid this store and say head over to Lowes. The Carmel Ranch Home Depot isn't much better with their customer service and I'll be danged if I'm going to give my hard earned dollars to a business that can't appreciate their customers. read more

The store is located close to my home and is usually not that crowded, but I really can't shop there with the loud music especially in the garden center. The music plays through an old beat up speaker used for the intercom, it's awful and 3 times louder then inside that is to loud as well. It's taken something like this for me to finally write my review. This incident reminded me of the shopping trip at Lowes, which I will NEVER go to again. My husband placed a very large order to be delivered on Monday. He had to pay extra, because it was a third party delivery and we were out of the zip code. He was told it would be delivered between 8am and 8pm. So, we sit and we wait. 8pm comes and goes and still no delivery. Typical, I guess. I wonder if they use the same 3rd party delivery that Lowes uses, because this is exactly what happened with Lowes. My husband makes the call Tuesday morning to find out what happened. They told him the truck had a flat tire. It took you all effing day to fix a flat tire? The next time to deliver is Thursday. Shit, thank god I'm on vacation, because if I had to burn up another day of waiting for these people to deliver my order, I'd be screwed. I don't have paid time off like most people. What I think happens is they over book the delivery truck and you get what you want delivered whenever they damn well feel like delivering it. Never again Home Depot. Bought a new refrigerator here. Delivery via a company called Temco. Delivery resulted in damage to our floor. After months of battling with the delivery company and an insurance intermediary, we were only sent a check for half of the amount it would cost to repair our floor. Spoke several times with Lorene at this location about the situation. She was always willing to listen to what we had to say and sympathetic. When I told her we were only getting half the damages from the delivery company she agreed to have Home Depot cover the other half. Lorene was great to work with. Only reason I'm not giving five stars is the delivery company Home Depot works with. Avoid Temco delivery if at all possible! read more

I couldn't decide whether to give them 1 or 2 stars, my experience was pretty awful. This review is only for their installed sales, not for routine cash and carry purchases. My husband and I made the mistake of thinking that Home Depot could redo our kitchen and powder room. We spent somewhere in the ballpark of $20,000.00 on granite countertops, back splashes, and a kitchen full of stainless steel appliances. When we went to Home Depot, we chose our granite based on a tiny little 2 inch by 2 inch square sample. The sample (New Venetian Gold) looked like a nice light beige/dark cream color and I thought it looked nice with our kitchen cabinets. We made an appointment for Home Depot to come out and measure the counters and back splashes and bathroom. We placed the order and waited to have everything installed. We actually were encouraged to visit the granite supplier to make sure we liked the slabs that were going to be used and when we visited them, I thought the granite slab looked way darker than the sample we had chosen. I asked why it looked so dark and I was told that it had rained the previous day so when the granite dried, it would look lighter. The day that everything arrived, the granite was still several shades darker than what we had chosen at the store. Then, the installers DROPPED the whole powder room slab, which broke and also killed the plants that it fell on. This meant that a new powder room slab had to be cut and it would take a week, and we could not use our powder room for a week. That was bad, but things got worse. Home Depot had ordered the wrong kitchen sink so while the counters and backsplash looked great, we had no running water in the kitchen or powder room for a week!!!! Those are the only 2 sinks on the first floor. To add insult to injury, Home Depot disconnected all of the lighting under the upper kitchen cabinets and all of the electrical outlets before they installed the counters and backsplashes. When they were finished installing the countertops and backsplashes, did they reconnect the lights or the electrical outlets? No, they just left wires hanging everywhere. When I complained to the store management, they basically told me that I was exaggerating the problems and I should hit the road. I then contacted the better business bureau and they forced Home Depot to refund about $500.00 of the $20,000.00 that we had spent to make up for the dead plants, the week that we could not use either sink on our first floor, and the fact that we had exposed wires throughout our kitchen. We were really excited about redoing our kitchen and bathroom with Home Depot and it was a thoroughly horrible experience that I would not wish on anyone else. Oh, and the granite is not the same color as the sample that we liked in the store. And the dishwasher was defective (we found mold in the dishwasher after several loads of dishwashing- the manufacturer refunded our money and took the dishwasher back). Run, do not walk, away from any installed sales at Home Depot. Find a reputable contractor who will actually make sure the entire job is done right and no doubt for way less than what we paid!!!! read more

I received phenomenal custom service from multiple employees on 6/28/20. Thank you Greg, Richard, and Jeremy (there were a few others too whose names I didn't see). When what I came to purchase wasn't on the shelf as indicated on the website, these gentleman did some investigating to locate the items instead of just saying "sorry, if it's not here on the shelf, that means we are out." It took awhile to get the item off the high shelf because it required a forklift to do so, but they kept me updated and allowed me to make my purchase as soon as it was brought to the cashier. This store hired a bunch of inexperienced people lately. Didn't pick all the parts for my delivery, didn't follow up after being told they would resolve it, had to go through Home Depot Online to get support, and the store still didn't have an agreeable resolution or clear details on how they will resolve and when. Now not only do I not have parts for my project, I have to wait for the refund and find a way to get parts from another store delivered. What a hassle! read more

"I think it's near the equipment rental section," replied a clueless employee when our bewildered hero asked where he could find a small amount of epoxy adhesive. When a search around equipment rentals turned up dry, he was referred by another employee to the opposite end of the store, where the closest substitute was "liquid nails". Finally, while picking what kind of rubber tubing to buy, his friend found epoxy resin in a completely different section of the store. "Alright, let's flag down a guy to help us cut out some tubing," declared our hero. After a brief search... "How much tubing do you want? 5 feet? You're making a beer bong right?" "Uhhh... yeahhh..." "Alright, you don't need to deny it. 1-1/4 inch clear tubing should be good." "Sweet." "And let's find you a ball valve that fits as well. I can get you a mouthpiece too, or you can just sand off the end." 15 minutes later, our hero and his compatriots had a completely assembled beer bong (sans funnel) courtesy of the extremely helpful Chris. PROS: - All the employees here have walkie-talkies for quick communication. - Young employees who can make a custom beer bong for you in short time. - Tubing, clamps, and valves all available in one convenient location.
