Good evening. I am not sure if this is the correct place to offer my experience at the Upper Darby Home Depot. ... I'll get straight to it: I bought a "dog ear" fence panel, but I needed it cut to take home. I bought my own tools but the blade broke so I took the panel inside to the deck department. That is where I met a young man named (Kaylay). I really hope I spelled his name correctly. He had just finished with another customer and he turned and saw my fullishmess. He smiled and said that the power tool would not work, but he found a nice saw that worked. It took us a few minutes to cut through the wet wood, but I struck up a conversation and come to find out he goes to my alma-mater. We talked about customer service and he had such a positive attitude about life and working for Home Depot. After he took care of me, another customer was waiting for a cut. I tried to tip him, but he refused "with gratitude"... If there ever was any person I would recommend for employee of the month, it would be Kaylay..... If there is any tuition reimbursement or scholarships, please consider him. He used problem solving skills to figure out my issue. I know this is a long review, but he deserves it. In today's climate, it's rare to find a young man with a pleasant continence and willing to go above and beyond. Service stinks at this Home Depot. Was getting carpet and looking for someone to cut it another lady was also waiting. Talked to someone who worked there and he said someone would be right there. 30 minutes I went up and talked to another worker and finally got home to cut the carpet. Then 3 other workers showed up after he was done. Customer service sucks in this place. read more

Terrible service overall. I reserved a cargo van rental 5 days in advance. I got to the location on time and asked a worker near the return section where the rental desk was and he said he wasn't sure and did nothing to help. Just stood there like a zombie. So I walked over to the self checkout machines, as I saw 2 workers standing there. I posed the same question to them and asked where the rental section of the store was located. The female employee said "It's by the rental section." No s%#t Sherlock. What kind of answer is that? I was asking where the rental section is located!! Why work if you don't wan't to do your job? Luckily the gentlemen next to her walked me over to the rental location. He explained it can be tricky to find and easy to miss if it is your first time renting. This is precisely why I was asking for help. FYI - There are no obvious signs that point to the location from within the store. Now... let's get to the service I experienced at the rental desk. TERRIBLE. Once I was at the front desk, I greeted the worker with a good morning and stated that I have a rental reservation for a cargo van. He looked at me like I came from outer space. He said nothing and basically moved in slow motion over to the register. He asked for me for my last name. Once he found my reservation, he swiveled the monitor towards me, showed me a QR code and said nothing. He just assumed I already knew the entire process. Strike 1. When I read what was on screen, it said to scan the QR code by using my phone's camera. Upon numerous attempts, I was not able to get it to work. I was basically told tough luck by this lazy worker. He said it was the only way a rental could be completed. But it wasn't just what he said, it is how he said it. What's with the freaking attitude? Do these people even want to work? I then said, there has to be a way to override a QR code. Perhaps a simple, alternative method. I was already in the system for the reservation and had all the required information. If the QR code were that important, Home Depot should have made this clear in the reservation email. The reservation email said to bring your license, proof of insurance and credit card. It didn't say anything about a QR code being the "only way" to rent a truck/cargo van. The worker literally did 0 to help and I demanded to speak with a manager. When the manager got there [I believe his name is Joe], he explained to me that they started using the QR code method 1 and a half years ago due to an agreement with CLEAR. So it is basically a new store method. Long story short, the manager said this was to protect the company from losing rentals. I explained to him that my phone wasn't scanning the QR code. He then showed me another method I could use by using the Chrome browser. Guess what... it worked. So the grumpy guy at the desk got to see that he was dead wrong (there was a workaround afterall). Of course he didn't apologize. He continued to move like a sloth and moved forward with my rental process. When it was time to take a picture of my license, CLEAR kept rejecting the photo. At no surprise, the worker next to the guy who was dealing with me said "You have to hit the white button to take a picture, man!" Again, it wasn't what these workers said but how they say it. And of course I know how to take a damn picture. The issue was CLEAR wasn't accepting the photo of my license because the picture was slightly out of focus due to poor lighting. So I had to find proper lighting to get it to work. Once I got past this step, the manager walked away and I thanked him before he departed. The worker at the front desk, however, continued to be rude and unprofessional. Not explaining anything along the way. He said "insurance" and not much else after that. He made a motion towards the screen and when I looked down, I saw a $973 figure. I asked him to explain this fee to me. Of course, he seemed bothered by my request. He reluctantly said it is what they charge per day if i dont bring the truck back. Pretty important don't you think? You would think he would explain such an important fee without my asking. What's the problem? Am I not allowed to ask questions? Wait.... there is more. I am aware that some heavy duty vehicles use unleaded fuel or diesel. So I asked a simple question as to which type of fuel the trucks and cargo vans use. I have been in situations where it could be either unleaded or diesel. Again, he didn't seem to want to answer my question. He mumbled the word "gasoline" as a response as he printed out my printed out my receipt. After that, he just put the keys on the desk. No thank. No have a good day. He didn't ask if I had any further questions. No patience. No assistance. Just a really bad experience all around. You would think with all the competition coming from Lowe's and Ace Hardware that Home Depot would prioritize customer service. I don't recommend this store. Look elsewhere for your needs. 0 stars. read more

Absolute worst delivery experience. Absolute worst customer service experience. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!! Do employees here even check that the right appliance is being shipped and delivered? NO. Do they answer the phone when called about the wrong appliance delivery? NO. They finally answered back and then refused to give me the right appliance AFTER the return window had ended. A few months ago - I went to get some new plants because I'm stuck in the house all day and decided I wanted to become a plant mom. So I got in my car and drove 30 mins away because I remembered Home Depot sells plants and things for a garden. I was so pleased with the wide selection of plants to chose from. I got two plants because I didn't realize how much plants, new pots, soil and plant food cost. I mean I wasn't expecting to spend so much. To be fair I didn't know what to expect to spend lol maybe $30-40. Wrong! Update to day on how the plants are doing? They're all dead. I should be arrested for killing all three plants. None survived. Even the one that was supposed to be hard to kill, I managed to kill it. read more

The wrong item was delivered. I called the support line on the order. They said they can't help me since a store fulfilled it. I call the store FOUR times and no answer. On hold without speaking to someone for well over a total of 30 min. And the line just hangs up. I try again. same thing. I can't even get help to fix their mistake. read more

This cashier must be given the EMPOLYEE OF THE MONTH REWARD, A BONUS, A RISE or even SOME EXTRA DAY'S VACATION. I have been coming into HOME DEPOT for decades now, lol...and I've yet to meet an employee like LINDA. She was our cashier on Thursday August 30th.. midday. Linda was as pleasant, as could be. Helpful and knew her job skills well. This woman was truly enjoying her time working. Smiling and upbeat. I will probably be coming into Home Depot for a few more decades...lol...and I'll probably never meet or see another employee with such enthusiasm as her, working in a HOME DEPOT....she certainly should be recognized. Pathetic and scary. The parking lot had a vagrant male walking around. There was trash all over the lot as well. The garden center should have had ALL their plants on clearance for they were all dried up and dead. Good luck getting help from inexperienced garden center workers, too busy not looking for stock or chatting with low-life friends. Once a planter was pulled from overstock, it was cracked on the corner. Avoid this store and find another alternative. read more

We have a special needs child. My wife researched an Induction Electric Range. I went to Home Depot, showed the Appliance sales person on my iPhone the range we wanted, but Home Depot ordered the wrong Range. We didn't notice THEIR mistake in the "window", so they are refusing to help us. If you don't know the difference between an Electric Range, and an Electric Induction Range, neither does their Sales Rep; their Assistant Manager, nor their Customer Service Rep. I don't know if the manager knows, he/she has dodged FOUR attempts to talk to him/her. DON'T BUY A MAJOR APPLIANCE FROM THESE PEOPLE! read more

Horrible decision making my employee at desk in rental store. Rented a jack hammer and the handle broke. Told me I would be charged $125 then handed me another jackhammer with a crack in the exact same spot. Pointed it out and told him I would not take that item. Took another jack hammer without a crack but still charged me. No common sense. read more

I was in need of some help with my weed wacker. The rep in that Department did not how to help me with this problem. He then referred me to the Tool & Rental Department. I have gone there before and received help with garden tools. The rep there was rude, insulting, condescending, and just plain nasty. This was unusual since I have always found your reps to be very helpful. I have been going to your store for over 25 years and I have never encountered anything like this before. This creep ought to be kicked in the can. I did find a rep who did help me with this. This rep at Tool Rental told me we are just "counter people". That is not true. This sat in my draft until I decided to go back again to see if they would restock on the brick color pavers. Here a year later and they still don't have the pavers in stock. For that I'm leaving the 4 star because I can walk around the store for hours and buy things that I probably really don't need. Over all I love this store they just need to do better with have things available when I need it lol. read more

This is not a review of Home Depot, but of the Bonnie vegetable plants they sell. This is the third time I purchased Bonnie tomato plants, and all three seasons they were infected with a deadly fungus. They produced very little fruit, and died half way through the growling season. Don't waist your time and money. Steer clear of any plant with the Bonnie logo. Their vegetables suck. read more

I love coming to this Home Depot. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. I have yet come to find an item "out of stock' which is great because it's a one stop shopping. Everything is clean and organized. They have do it herself classes (which I have taken a few a while back) and Kids workshops (which my son loves). They have staff that can help your bring/load your stuff in your car. We will definitely be back! read more

I dealt with the pro-desk, and the people there were helpful and competent. My big, big complaint is the delivery service: I place a big order of lumber and hardware to be delivered to my house. After waiting home the whole day, I finally got a call saying they couldn't deliver for whatever issues with the truck. Okay, the next \day then. Well, it's 5 pm on the next day and nothing yet. Eventually the delivery arrived on the 2nd day, with only about 1/3 is the material that i ordered! Throughout all of this, home depot didn't bother to let me know anything, never got in touch, never explained why the delivery was incomplete and/or when I should expect the rest of the supplies to be delivered. I ended up cancelling the order, keeping what was delivered already, and going to a local lumber yard to purchase the rest of the material. At least I knew that a real person was actually talking care of my order, making sure that it was correct and keeping me updated on its status. read more

The associates in the returns department are rude. If you have no patience then you should not be working there . I over heard the conversation with the customer before me and the associate was delivery a message from the manager. The customer asked to speak to the manager but was all of a sudden unavailable after speaking with them on the phone. The guy that helped me was very short with me. I understand it's a pandemic but get associates with better attitudes! read more

Absolute waste of time. Needed shelving cut down and walked around and around asking different associates for help. I was sent in two different directions. Finally was directed to flooring and was told the person who does the cutting was on break and they had no idea when that person would return. Unhelpful attitudes all around. I walked out. OK it's a Home Depot. The address is technically Clifton Heights but everyone knows it as the Upper Darby HD. Even the PA announcements from the staff reference Upper Darby. This HD is a big one. It helps if you are a regular because it takes some time to get the lay of the land. It has more live plants than many HDs so gardeners find it particularly nice. They do a fine job here. I know that if I visit there is a very good chance I'm going to find what I need. read more

Use the online ordering. Love picking up things from customer service and not walking around the store. I ordered one thing of spackling and 2 Days Later they still haven't filled the order. Went back to my Broomall location and bought two small instead of one large of the same item and they filled it within hours. Can't believe how long this Secane location took and is so different from the Broomall store. read more

They need to get a new delivery company. Purchased a dryer had a delivery window 3:30 -7:30. 7:30 came and no delivery so I called. After a few minutes on hold she told me they were a little behind will be there within the half hour. They never showed up or called. And the next day nobody called with a new delivery date. So I called and cancelled the order and purchased another one from Best Buy and delivered as promised and cheaper. This was the second time I had a problem with a delivery from home depot in the last 10 months. Needless to say I will not buy from them again anything that has to be delivered. They really need to get another delivery company!!! read more

We ordered a washer and dryer for my aunt who can no longer leave the house without assistance from Home Depot in Secane a few weeks prior to Thanksgiving. The delivery date was set for 12/18/19; the appliance was scheduled to be delivered between 9-1. The delivery company was no call/no show. We called the store around 1:30 to check the status of the delivery only to learn the company "forgot" to put her items on the truck. We were given a 10 day reschedule date despite it being their fault that the items weren't delivered. The Store Manager, "Johnny" to date had not return my phone calls. I called the corporate office; reportedly "Johnny" didn't return their outreach either. Today the items were supposed to be delivered between 7-11. Again no call/no show with the items. Again I called the store and the Manager was unavailable. Again I called the corporate office and was told the delivery truck was running behind; and that someone would call me soon; and to expect the delivery in a half hour or around noon. At 2p.m.I called back to check the status of the delivery and was told after waiting since 7 a.m. that they tried to deliver the items but no one was home. This is not true of course. They have rescheduled now for 1/3/20. I have not ever received a response from the Store Manager to date. The delivery company is West Side and they are totally unprofessional. Everyone to whom I've spoken at Home Depot has been cavalier about the lack of professionalism displayed by the store manager and the delivery company. The moral of the story, go to LOWES or any place else, and don't use West Side delivery. Extremely disappointed but wise enough to know that I will not be purchasing items from Home Depot again. read more

A lot of places just don't give a shit about the customers. Have you ever gone to Wal-mart and asked someone in the bedding section for help in the sports section? You pretty much get the "Go to hell" look and a rude response. Not at this Home Depot! These people are amazing! I can walk into any section and ask for something. Not only will they know where it's at, they'll take you there! Most store employees avoid eye contact with a customer. Not here. They look you in the eyes, ask how you're doing and if you need help. The company and management team of this store clearly have a great grasp on how to make sure customers are happy. I frequent this store 2-3 times a week for jobs I have to do and each time it's just a great experience. read more

The Home Depot in Clifton Heights PA could use some remedial training when it comes to responding to instead of ignoring their Customers complaint letters regarding inferior quality items that they stock & sell for their Vendors. At other Home Depots I have felt very lost. I have had trouble finding things and have walked out with what I thought was the proper thing - only to find - once I got home that I made a mistake. While this Home Depot is indeed large, the employees are easy to find- they are always very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. In all my years of going there I only had difficulty finding an employee to help on one occasion. ---- at that time I climbed to the top of one of their ladders and an employee was at my side within seconds- ready to help. read more

I came in here to get keys re-made that my sister had got from here that didn't work. They were pretty friendly and re-made the keys; however, they still didn't work which is kind of annoying. The parking lot is normally pretty busy, especially during the weekends. Overall it's a pretty typical Home Depot; however, sometimes it's hard to find an associate to help you if you need to determine where things are. read more

I go here almost everyday since I been fixing up my house nights a weekends. They are good for the most part but my biggest complaint is theres several times no matter what day or time that there is no register open. Poor service and no effort to resolve any problem. Bought a dryer and the day of delivery I was never given a call 30 min ahead of time as they say they would. Drivers failed to take the dryer out of the box but told me it would not fit. I went back to the store and found the lazy drivers had the wrong measurements. At this point (if I could actually speak to someone live) I would be cancelling the order! This was supposed to be delivered 5/18 -- no one called & it never showed up. We had to call 4 times to speak with someone live who then tried to tell us they attempted to deliver it which is impossible because we were home (like everyone else it's a quarantine), we never received a call or note of are most of delivery. Then they told us it wasn't delivered because they don't have it and don't do partial deliveries and that it would be rescheduled. Then someone called me from the upper Darby Home Depot to ask if it could be rescheduled for 6/4. This was on 5/29. I agreed. Once again, order never came, no one called. I have literally tried calling every day - the store, the corporate office, I've even reached out via Facebook messenger... no response. And today when I did the automated phone system it doesn't even have my lumber listed as part of the order. This has been THE WORST customer service I've ever had! I will never order from Home Depot again and as soon as I can get my money back I'll promptly be taking it to a competitor.... Home Depot has been my go to store ever since becoming a home owner. This just goes to show you how poor customer service can sour an otherwise loyal customers experience. If someone doesn't contact me back I'm reporting fraud to my credit card company so I can get my money back since no one is interested in answering the phone or contacting me back. worst customer service. read more

The upper darby Home Depot is possibly the WORST STORE IN DELCO. Went for a propane exchange and was having trouble with self service machine. Saw store employee right next to me on his phone. I figured he was on break so i went inside to get help. The cashier went outside and asked the employee to get me propane and he ignored the cashier. He had to yell at him to put down his phone and get me the propane tank. I get it you get what you pay for as far as employees but show some respect for the customer. I own a business in delco and spend 200k a year at home depot. Time for me to find a new supplier. Tomorrow I will call the voice of the customer line to see if they care if i take my 200k business elsewhere. We will see. Hopefully that employee will lose his job. Respect is not free! read more
