To be honest, this locations seems to have a lot of issues, especially with sanitation. I visited to get some parts for my toilet which they had in stock. It took a second to find as toilet repair is next to new toilets and separate from plumbing which makes sense. The service wasn't great, no employee ever spoke to me the entire visit, but I also didn't seek out any assistance and don't blame them for going about their work. However, I noticed a lot of birds chirping and flying around inside and a few products and places inside were covered in bird poop. I suppose this is an expected hazard when running a Home Depot, and I decided to go get some firewood and bird seed for my back yard. Outside the firewood and most of the products in the garden sections are severely weathered, worn, and are completely covered in bird droppings and seemed pretty disgusting. I decided to skip buying anything outside and went inside to get bird seed. When I approached the bird seed you could hear loud squeaking and I saw 3-4 mice eating all the bird food and jumping in between the racks. The bags had holes and there was seed and rodent droppings everywhere. I tried to see if maybe there was an untouched bag at the bottom but the entire inventory was also covered in rodent urine. Pretty disgusted, I decided to just buy the toilet parts and leave. There is no hand sanitizer anywhere and I stead of trying to go to the restroom to wash my hands I paid and left and got some sanitizer from my car. To be honest, this experience has definitely affected whether or not I would return, I probably won't until there is a bit better quality control with products and sanitation. The prices are good and the customer service is par for the course. They installed a new self checkout area which comes with more work for you and reduced staffing, but the products and quality has taken a nosedive. read more

Very well organized store, tons of house plants and outdoor plants, cute pots and home decor. They carry varieties of different paints and home/work tools. I was loading up my car and Larry one of their employees came up and offered us kid workshop kits to go and gave us info on when the next one would be. It was so kind of him to go the extra mile. Purchased a stove, was told I had 90 days to accept delivery. Then I had hand surgery, so we changed the delivery date still within the 90 days. A very rude woman from the warehouse called to tell me I had to change the date as it was not within 60 days of purchase date. That was line number one. So I agreed to a date on a Friday that was convenient for them with the exception that I had a morning delivery as I work afternoons. Her name was Sarah and she agreed. Then, the day before the schedule delivery I was told it would be an afternoon delivery time. They would not budge, so I canceled the order. I will never do business with Home Depot ever again. Each time I spoke to someone, it was one lie after another, I will gladly pay more for delivery and deal with another company that stands behind their word. read more

I went to get retaining wall blocks. The Entire parking lot in front of the garden shop is full of stuff. You cannot even get into one section of the parking lot because of the line at Starbucks. You have to park far away from the garden shop entrance and move a heavy cart across a rough parking lot full of holes. There is so much stuff piled in the front of the entrance to the garden shop you could not get a heavy loaded flat cart out and to your vehicle. It is a hard store to get to, one way in and one way out, plus starbucks customers blocking the road. I won't go back there. read more

So we came in Saturday afternoon wanting to order French doors for our patio deck. we had already done the research got the measurements and I needed to special order the size. I had already removed the sliding glass door on our deck, and just had plywood blocking nature. We went to that windows/doors counter and waited for maybe 10 minutes? Nobody showed up. So I found a couple of workers, I asked him if they worked in the doors and windows, they did not, but the guy got on the radio and told them that there was people waiting. About 10 more minutes past, and finally my wife started going upfront to find out why no one came back to take our order. After 30 minutes, I called the main number told the person that answered I needed to get someone to windows/doors for special order, she put me on hold... now we are pushing close to 45 minutes and after my wife asked me in the front, me talking to two separate workers, and Colleen. We just up and left. Went to Lowe's and ordered a Jen - weld Set of French doors. I have never shopped at Lowe's before, looks pretty similar, however we had great service at Lowe's... Do not order doors or installation through them. They make you pay for a professional (who incorrectly measured and I was forced to agree with his measurements) then the door came from millworks after 3 months with a crooked window, broken plugs, a ding theyvpainted over, and even shorter than the initial measurement. During installation the guy was unprepared made multiple trips for supplies then rushed out because he stayed later than he wanted. He didn't do any of the custom trim that was paid for and left my wife and toddlers at home without installing the door hand or deadbolt. He left the area unsafe, messy, and left the project unfinished. Now that I'm trying to contact home depot and millworks about the issues, Wendy won't call me back or answer any calls from me and Paul Walpole won't answer and has his email auto reply saying he won't be in his office for a while. Highly recommend not using their services. Any handyman could do a job like he did but for cheaper, so buy a door somewhere else. read more

We ordered a couple things online and it took about 2 days for the order to be ready, although the items were in stock. I went early morning to avoid crowds but they were already there. Luckily I was doing curbside and pulled into the designated spot. I attempted to call the number however no answer, but within a few minutes an associate came to the vehicle. She got my info and checked my ID. About ten mins later they came out with items. Fairly easy process for curbside, as I had just done the same thing at Lowe's the day before and no one there ever answered the phone (tried for ten mins) or came out and I had to go inside to get my online order. read more

It is one thing that this HD has ONE person working returns, customer service, and giving people their pre-picked orders such that, as the first person in line at the return desk I had to wait almost 20 minutes. It is another to find out that I could not make my return because I had paid a small portion of the tab on a store credit, so that even though the item I was returning was $11, and the total bill had been over $80 with about $8 on a store credit, I could not make the return because I did not have my license with me. Since the credit card portion was FAR more than the $11 I wanted to return, this was ridiculous. Apparently, I was to get back 10%, or $1.10 on a store credit and the remaining $10 to my credit card. That is a STUPID policy that needs to be changed. As long as the credit card portion exceeded the amount of the return, it should have all been refundable to the credit card! I will never shop in the Northtown HD again! read more

I'm a contractor and I know my way around Home Depots. However, I couldn't find a few items and was looking up and down the aisles. I had five people say hello to me and ask how I was doing but not one of them asked if I needed help finding anything. Darryl in electric did approach me and say hello and strike up a conversation but that's only because I knew him. I even had to ask him to help me find something. Where do I even start... my husband and I frequent this Home Depot regularly for everyday items. It's great for that and this review is in no way against their day to day store operations. We decided to adult and upgrade the carpet in our living room and family room to Pergo (which looked and felt like high quality wood). We had the guy from Home Depot come out, measure the rooms, send the quote, and just like that we opened our wallets to a total monsoon of crap! Let's start with the flooring department at the Northtowne Home Depot... For starters, most companies are more than happy to take any and all of your money after you agree to the estimate they have created. Well, no, Tatiana had no clue how to actually bring up our bid, or schedule, or make a payment even though my husband and I were ready to pay. (Sigh.) Ok, we will come back. She put us in contact with Carmen, who is almost impossible to contact...ever...I mean ever! She was "off" almost every day for 3 weeks. Well, finally, alas, Carmen called back and we scheduled this whole debacle. Once we ACTUALLY purchased our floor and set up the delivery date...a delivery guy showed up to our house! Yay! Here we go! Not really.... you see, the delivery guy managed to run his forklift into our garage... The only reason it was delivered to our garage was after a battle of learning that it would be delivered inside our home. Apparently, 4 people told us wrong and that was not the case. After the forklift driver drove his forklift into the stucco of our house, he said "well, sorry, you have to take it inside"....Great... Lead up to the install... They do ACTUALLY warn you, that if you have a home on a concrete slab, you might (the truth is, you WILL) have to have your concrete ground down (a service which HD does not provide) for an additional charge. Well, ding, ding, ding, we were those lucky people who had to have our floors ground down right after the HD floor installer ripped out all of the carpet... Needless to say, I can't make this horendeous ordeal up...I wouldn't want to if I tried. Ultimately, the floors look good, but had I known the absolute misery this would have caused us, I would have kept our carpet, or called someone else, maybe Floor and Decor. That's the power of the Home Depot...ripping off one customer at a time... Go to some other competitor...It literally cannot be any worse! read more

I have been in Reno for 16 months and have made numerous trips to this location while doing minor remodeling. Even though it's a fairly busy location, I have always received above average customer service. Today, Sunday, they were very busy, I needed several different cans of paint, the young lady that helped me was fantastic, the paint was ready in ten minutes and she couldn't have been more helpful. I also needed to make a return and I was finished in 5 minutes. This store and it's employees are a real credit to the local community. Thank you Home Depot. read more

Today I had to figure out a way to drill holes into retail counter space in such a way to allow computer cables to pass through. As you can imagine, I had no idea what I was doing. I found myself stumbling through Home Depot without a solution and a whole lotta stress. I found Tyler busy over the phone, however he still offered to help me despite being clearly busy already. He answered all my questions and let me leave with the exact drill bit I didn't know I needed. If not for Tyler, I'd probably still be walking around Home Depot. Short, abrasive, and disrespectful. I had an item where the tag had fallen off, and the employee at self check out told me I'd need a new one. I asked if I should get another- as I would've been glad to- but she said nothing and walked away. I waited for 5-8 minutes while she panicked and scurried over what seems like a pretty standard issue, hovering over and interrogating me about the item as if I was suspect. I suggested it may be down the aisle we were next to as I was shopping there, and she immediately lashed out at me, saying she knew what the item was and that it wouldn't be down that aisle. I told her I was just trying to help find it, and she said I didn't know what I was talking about. Fast forward another 5 minutes and I pay for my items, and go looking for the item on my own, just to find it where the employee said it couldn't be. I found this entire interaction unnecessary, and indicative of what expectations are set for the staff here. read more

Agree with a lot of the low reviews. In our case, don't bother to use any of their 3rd party recommendations. They don't do a good job managing them and only interested in making money from the referral. Example 1: Last year I got a quote to install a hot water heater. The guy that came from a company they contacted to come see me was terrible. I noticed gang tattoos on his hands. He wanted to charge $100 extra for an adapter and insisted I needed an expensive water alarm to meet building code, etc. The installation quote was $650 higher than from a company that Lowe's sent to my home and they did a great job without charging for extra connectors and not insisting I needed a separate alarm, etc. All of this was for the exact same model water heater. Example 2: Recently I was interested in a Generac home generator. They recommended a company with a terrible rating, complaints against the owner (he's really arrogant). Bottom line, I am not using any more Home Depot installers for anything. Not even going to ask. read more
