I have tried to get a part for a washer (covered by warranty). The repairman came out and told me what was needed. Some of the parts he ordered arrived but the lid to the top loading washer did not. I have been to the store 3 times to get this resolved as well as calling the appliance department 3 times, going to and calling customer service and talking directly with the appliance manager. I have spoken directly with customer service and the appliance manager. I called the store manager today and was put on hold by her. After 20 .minutes I hung up. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever experienced! I have gone to the Reston home depot many times in my 33 years in Reston and once my washer is repaired I will never set foot in that store again. Today, is the third attempt to get my ice maker installed and second payment by my landlords for installation... Between getting my new refrigerator and ice maker installed-subcontractors have been here 5 times...and the ice maker is still not resolved! Have talked (at least a minimum of 5 hours), with Home Depot and the delivery service who said that they were not instructed to install... I bought a dishwasher from Home Depot Reston and paid for installation and removal of the old one. They subcontracted 3 separate plumbers to do the installation and couldn't do it. Each of these subcontractors had different reasons. Home Depot could not provide a basic solution. I had to hire my own plumber to come install the dishwasher. Pathetic customer service by Hone Depot as well as all their subcontractors. Really bad service. The sad part is that I have been coming here for more than 20 years and this is the worst experience I have ever had and no one took ownership. Bad management. Dear Home Depot Team, I don't usually write reviews, but today's experience was frustrating and I feel it's important to share. I ended up paying almost double because of confusion around the gas policy. When I picked up the rental truck, the fuel gauge was at about 7/8 not full. I don't think it's right to rent out a vehicle that isn't completely full, because it's very difficult to return it at exactly that same level. Since the truck must be turned off while refueling, there's no accurate way to know how many gallons to add to reach 7/8. If the truck were provided with a full tank, it would be simple to refill it completely until the pump clicks off. That's how most rental companies operate, and it avoids any misunderstanding. In this case, I was told to pay about $20 extra because the tank appeared slightly below 7/8 when I returned it. If I had returned it completely full, I doubt I would have received a $20 refund. This system leaves too much room for subjective interpretation and inconsistency between employees. I hope this location reviews its fuel policy and ensures trucks are always rented out with full tanks. It would make the process much fairer and simpler for customers especially those of us who regularly spend significant amounts on materials at Home Depot each year. read more

I finally had a great experience at this location. I had purchased a BBQ grill online that was on sale for pickup and when I arrived a couple of days later, the said grill was not in new condition at all. The side tray was missing bolts and hanging loose, chipped and rusted areas all over, and the inside was missing 1 of the 2 grill grates. I was not willing to take it and the person in charge, Damani was paged to help with the situation. He was polite, respectful, and apologetic and promised to make it right by substituting another grill with comparable savings since that was the only grill of my original choice. He even arranged to have it delivered at a discounted price which was in fact delivered to my house later in the day. Damani restored the idea of great customer service that is so missing in retail sales these days. I hope that this location continues to have employees of this caliber. read more

Coming back to again say 3 years later how terrible this Home Depot is. Latest issue is the abysmal help at returns and checkout. Every time I go to make a return the line is very long and the employees beyond rude. I do feel bad for management... I haven't been to this Home Depot in a couple years, but it has not improved. Yes, they have everything you would expect to find in a standard hardware store. The problem is with customer service. The employees just don't care and they are not knowledgeable. I literally feel like I could work here and do a better job at answering questions. The employees don't know where anything else and they don't care. It's a real struggle trying to get basic help and information from them. This time the place is well staffed, yet they didn't even acknowledge me. Even though I'm standing in front of the register that's lit up with a "online order pickup" sign. Several employees even made eye contact with me only to give me a blank look. Finally the guy for online orders came to help me. He also had a couldn't care less attitude. I have to pickup part of my order in a locker and the rest I have to wait for him to get. What's the point of picking up an online order if it doesn't save any time. There's a lot of hanging out and staring going on. Even employees on their Bluetooth headsets taking personal calls. Thank goodness I knew what I was picking up because they guy didn't get all my orders. It's really disappointing that this is what Home Depot has become. It's simpler just to shop online at a place that will deliver in 24hrs rather than come here waste time, get no knowledge or assistance and be treated poorly. I'm leaving 2 stars because at least I was eventually helped and there are staff present. read more

Update to my previous post. I contacted the Home Depot Customer Service line (Corporate). They immediately refunded my money and apologized. They told me that the store manager should have resolved this in a manner of minutes, especially since they confirmed that it had been purchased at that store, and since it clearly had not been opened, and since I was only asking for an even exchange. They told me I did not need to return the item, especially given the circumstances. But I did anyway. I again spoke to the manager (Eli C.). He never apologized, even for requiring us to make the extra trip. I was not impressed. read more

Aside from having a serious miscommunication issue with a checkout. The man continued to try and ring me up for two flowers when I said no just one. He eventually got annoyed and walked away. The paint department is unbelievably slow and very disorganized. I waited 35 minutes for a quart of paint. Four people behind me in line were all served first. When I asked about it I got attitude. He then grabs a gallon of what I asked and I had to remind him I need only a quart. He forgot about my order as I stood there and had placed my paint chip in his pocket and served other around me. I wish I could give a negative star rating. I was misled into an ordering nightmare for a simple front door replacement. The project is now 3 months in, and my custom door arrived DAMAGED for installation this morning. Did anyone think to inspect it before sending it out for install? The store associate followed up with me, and asked if I'd like to have it repaired at the store with some paint and bondo instead of waiting for a replacement. WOW. This is what spending a few thousand gets you! To add to the fire, the installation gone horribly wrong was previously delayed because the store "accidentally" sold a storm door I previously ordered! I ordered 60 bags of mulch from the Reston store for delivery on April 4. As of today, April 18, it has not been delivered. I've called the store 6 times to find the status. From what I understand so far, the Reston store had the Sterling store handle the delivery. The Sterling store seems to think the delivery is complete. The Delivery Tracker status states that delivery was "Attempted, Sorry we missed you." On April 16 I called the 800 number 3 times. They said they had to call the local store to find the status, but the local store was not answering the phone. They actually suggested driving over to the local store to ask for status, as telephone communication was not working. No one at the Reston store will take responsibility. They say they will follow up and call you back, but they don't. Once they get you off the phone you have to start all over, calling a new person, explaining the problem yet again. read more

He seemed irritated to help me, I got more help and advice from another customer who was there. The locker was locked and the lost cashier came by to help, I had to help him find the exact box even though I showed him which tool I needed. I had to force help to get the bits that go with the power tool I was buying. I was so close to leaving I was frustrated. Next time I'll go to Lowe's because this is ridiculous. I requested support in the outdoor furniture section to 4 different employees. They all passed the request to a different employee. No one came to help. I stood there for 25 minutes just to get zero help. Went to customer service and they attempted to call the person responsible for that area and he didn't respond either. Went to this location on 9/27/23 around 4pm to look for blinds. My husband and I aren't the savviest with things like this so we asked two store associates for help. They seemed bothered that we were asking for their help as they were sitting there having a conversation in the computer section..... They told us the blinds could not be cut or shortened and that we would have to get custom blinds and have them professionally installed. So, we decided to purchase a blind that was shorter, praying the length wouldn't be too off. Anyway!! So we got home, opened the blinds- only to find there is a way to have them shortened...thanks YOUTUBE. Home Depot, train your staff better. We could have purchased all the blinds we needed yesterday, instead we have to go back; exchange and have them cut by you (since we learned it is a service u offer) I've been to other Home Depots where the staff is more engaging and willing to help.. if you don't want to be there- leave :) read more

AVOID THE CARPET/FLOORING DEPARTMENT! Cannot begin to tell you how horrible, incompetent, and rude the staff in this department are: 1. They charged $35 to have someone come to our house to complete a measurement for carpet in two rooms - both of which she mislabeled so incompetently that when we went back to the store to obtain a quote the equally clueless staff person could not figure it out FOR OVER AN HOUR. This included his having to try to coordinate this with another HD staff person at some "Central Location" who had the quote in his computer. After an hour of headache inducing nonsense we said we would come back another time. 2. Came back a few weeks later. Female staff person was WORSE! When my wife repeatedly and politely attempted to explain that the rooms were mislabeled and the square footage didn't make sense...she dismissively cut her off and told her she needed to "listen and not talk"...then she got on the phone with the "Central Location" guy....with neither one of them STILL able to figure out how to provide us a simple quote. THIS WENT ON FOR ANOTHER HOUR before they suggested we send another person out to measure our rooms again! No apology for the lost hours or needing to take time from work for another measurement. No offer to at least refund us the initial measurement fee and provide re-measure for free. When we left the store my wife actually broke down in tears at how ridiculous and rudely we were treated over a simple carpet purchase. 3. Long story short, we went to another "flooring only store" in Fairfax. They came to our house - provided a free and accurate quote for the rooms in less than 20 minutes. We ordered the carpet and had it installed perfectly within a week. After more than 25 years of shopping at Home Depot the experience was such a nightmare we can't imagine EVER spending a dime there again. Hope they think the $35 was worth it. read more

I purchased a washer and a dryer (to replace the old and not functional units) from The Reston Va Home depot on September 15, 2021. The lady who sold the appliances was very patient explaining the pros and cons of the different appliances we saw in the store. The delivery date was set for September 27. On the delivery day, I led the crew upstairs into the laundry room where the old washer and dryer were to be removed to make room for the new ones on their truck. They inspected the room and told me they cannot install the washer because there is no drain pan currently installed in the laundry room. They left with the appliances I bought, leaving me with a pile of dirty laundry that was waiting for the machines to be delivered and installed. I went to the store for the 2nd time and waited for about an hour to see a manager. The manager told me I must get a plumber to install the drainpipe and he recommended one from his list. The plumber came the next day and estimated $400.00 to install a plastic drain! I then decided to cancel the order and called the store several time trying to talk to the manager with no success. I then went to the store for the 3rdtime. Talked to a supervisor . I told her I want to cancel the order and have my money refunded. She said her computer records show that the items were delivered. She will verify and call me back. I waited for 24 hours. No call from her I called several times, left messages, no call back from her or the manager. She is terrible! So is her manager, an African American with an accent. I felt terrible, Home depot charged me $1900.00 for the appliances they did not deliver, and I am having a hard time to even talk to someone about getting a refund. I went to the store for the 4th time and headed to the appliance department and explained my situation to Chaz. Chaz just simply called someone and cancelled the order. The money was refunded in 3 days. In summary, 1. The drainpipe was not a requirement in any of the paperwork. That was a major mistake by Home depot. I would have checked if it was in writing. 2. The supervisor and the manager are absolutely non-professional! They are not able to distinguish between someone who just bought an appliance vs. someone that just bought a screwdriver. They did not care about any of my concerns 3. Lack of communication! How can something show as delivered on their record when it was not? I don't believe the records showed that. I think Fakuda may not have told me the truth. When I spoke to Chaz, he told me the record said "Attempted delivery" 4. I never got a call back from Fakuda as promised and she never returned my calls. I have bought several appliances from this store in the past 5 years. A refrigerator, a gas oven, and a dishwasher. Always a great place to get anything you need for redoing the house. It can definitely be a challenge to find an employee for help as the store is massive but it was extremely helpful that when we checked out there was someone to help us load heavy items into our car. read more

I don't normally go to this Home Depot but if I'm out and about in this area I will stop in if I need some home improvement stuff which seems to be a regular thing for me lately. Overall I'd give this location 3.5 stars. I know 1/2 star off because I swear the parking spaces in this lot are quite narrow, and I do pride myself of staying well within the lines of parking. Because of this location it does get pretty busy in here and the set up is quite different to the one in Sterling so just be prepared to do a bit more looking for stuff. We came fairly early on a Sunday morning which actually made it the perfect time since it was really not too busy at all, getting in/out is was fairly painless. We were able to find staff to that were ready and willing to help us too. Also depending on what direction you're coming from getting in/out can be a bit tricky. If you're coming down Reston Parkway (where you pass Reston Town Center), you have to go up past the Home Depot and loop around the back of the store to get into the lot. The shopping center where the HD is also has a few other places close by so if you're running errands that does make it particularly convenient if you need to do other things. read more

Do not select the Home Depot store in Reston, VA for hardwood floor purchases or installation services!!! I purchased hardwood floors from this store in June of 2021 and had to cancel the order in December after numerous problems (e.g. defective order, poor installation service, difficulty in retrieving a refund and picking up materials, significant installation delays). ACS, Home Depot's vendor, provided terrible service and refused to install the floor citing subfloor issues, which turned out to be false. I had to visit the store several times between June and December, when I finally cancelled the order. I used another vendor who installed the stores in less than 3 weeks without any issues. Even though the store is close to my home and I've purchased several appliances and other items in the past, given this experience, it's unlikely that I will make any major purchases from this store in the future. In fact, I will drive to their competitor, Lowes. read more
