Thanks for the new carts! I have a few suggestions, 1. Have a cart corral in the parking lot so customers can place their used carts in when they are done. This will prevent runaway cards from hitting parked vehicles. It will also make the parking lot look nicer. 2. Provide employees with a motorized push cart so they can more easily bring carts back up the hill to the store. 3. Provide a cart area in the middle / rear of the store. This would increase sales and customer satisfaction. Many times I go in thinking I'm only going to get a few items then end up with more than I can handle, without a cart I have to drop everything and go to the front of the store and get one. Here's a few suggestions for the parking lot... Can we get larger parking places, like the pros get? Not that anybody pays attention to pro parking spaces, because the signs are all mostly missing and the lines on the lot are faded. Most people bring their pick-up trucks and or SUVs to the store and the parking places are way too small. Backing out of parking places is very dangerous. I'm surprised they're having been more accidents. The aisles are too narrow. One solution may be 'One Way' aisles. Man. This Home Depot always makes me angry. Continually I go here and usually they are out of one or 2 of the things I need. Probably because they're the most common or popular sizes or types. Additionally, anything that needs to be sorted and organized from nuts and bolts or wiring things or what ever is disorganized, not in the right place it's just a mess. I've finally gotten around to write this review. This Home Depot sucks so bad. I go here because it's closest but on my way I usually say I should go to the one near Costco and then I end up disappointed as usual. More angry because I waste a trip. read more

I was in the Tools area of the Reston Home Deport at about 5 pm 8/2, looking for a drill bit for drilling metal - I saw a Home Depot employee - I thought I'd ask him to make sure I was purchasing the right thing ... NOT WEARING A MASK over his mouth and nose. He's standing there stocking a shelf one aisle over from the Tools aisle, and he's not wearing a mask over his face. Then I realize it is that same older guy with the moustache, black-framed glasses who I'd overheard grumbling about mask use last time I was at the store. Something about spray-painting his mask black ... Does the sign outside the store requiring mask use not apply to employees? On the bright side, I decided not to ask Mr. Face Mask Denier and ask another employee instead, a petite Jamaican (?) lady, and she pointed me to exactly the drill bit I needed ... and she was wearing a mask. read more

Either the inventory numbers here are WAY off or the employees don't care to help you find what should be somewhere in the store. Multiple times I've struck out looking for something that should be in stock. Their own website will say they have 50-100 pieces of something but you ask someone in store and they shrug and say they are out. So either 1) the items are hidden somewhere and no one cares to ever find them or 2) the inventory number is wrong and they really are out of stock....but no one cares to fix the inventory number so they will never order and receive more of the item because they think they have plenty. read more

As usual, Home Depot fails again with providing a positive experience when you need staff assistance. Upon entering, I visited the returns desk. There was a lady on the telephone, and that is fine, but there were three workers standing right behind her talking amongst themselves. Occasionally they looked over at me, but none of them came over to ask if I needed help. It was so great feeling ignored, but then again that's primarily what I'm used to at Home Depot in general. Though since it was nearby, I had an item to return and then needed an obscure size of light bulbs. I went directly to that department after returning my item. There was no one who walked by with an orange apron who was of any help. One guy said it wasn't his department, no offer to find someone and another lady said she was going on break. I eventually found the type I needed but only after searching for 20 minutes to match up the sample bulb I brought with me. Next, I was looking for a step stool. Finally I found someone walking through the store who was of assistance getting me to the right place. Lastly checkout was by far the best part of my store experience at this location last week. Easy, quick and the cashier was very personable. I much prefer the ma and pa hardware stores. Even Ace Twins Hardware, which is a chain, has much, much better service than Home Depot, and people who actually know the products and are there to assist. read more

I've been to a lot of Home Depots around this area, and this is by far the absolute worst one in terms of customer service. If you actually need help for anything, even something simple like getting a package down from a high shelf, good luck finding someone. And if you do find one, you will likely get something similar to my experience today. The first rep I found in the plumbing department told me he would get to me in fifteen minutes or so, after his break. The second told me he had to finish something, then when he came back, he chose to ignore me and help out a different customer. At self checkout, there are usually at least three to four employees standing around talking doing their best to ignore everyone. I would honestly rather drive a little further to Sterling than spend another dime here. I don't know who if anyone actually manages this place. read more

Sunday, 28 April 2019 1:30 pm. Went to trash bar. Almost didn't stop pa Raking very crowded. 'Luckily' found a space. Found trash barrel with wheels marked approximately $35, two others types with wheels once for $68 the other for $80. Checking out rang up as $68, I indicat Ed the error. Cashier called another Home Depot person to check. Waited about 10 minutes he arrived back said their error. He handed the checkout person a piece of paper, clerk rang It up. My wife and I went in yesterday to grab mulch and other garden items and the selection wasn't great. But the main reason I am reviewing today and reviewing so low, is because one of the employees who works the garden area was incredibly rude to my wife and I. We were there with our children and our son was running around and "playing" - he is 3 years old. The woman was rude in her initial approach and criticized my wife parenting right in front of me. There is no reason why she couldn't have been polite and courteous in asking us to calm our son down. Her whole approach and attitude was off-putting and RUDE. I don't recall her name but she was an older African American woman who works in the gardening section. I tried to read her apron name while leaving and all I could make out was "Mrs. Granny" (?) But I don't think that is right. Regardless - it appeared as though she no longer has the temperament to handle a situation where the store is busy and a 3 year old child is behaving like a child. I was in Home Depot when it opened on Saturday morning, April 4, to pick up a large shed that we had ordered several weeks ago. The gentleman at the Customer Service counter was exceptionally helpful, mindful of social distancing, professional and polite. He helped me rent a van at the last minute, and made every effort to assist me. It's a big store with a lot of employees, so I know folks on Yelp have a variety of experiences, but I just wanted to take a moment to thank the Customer Service staff for their outstanding help last Saturday. read more

Just terrible customer service. Picked out a vanity combo online. Went to store to purchase. Difficult to find someone to help me, finally one employee said he couldn't help but told me to go to customer service to get help moving vanity box onto cart. Customer service rep sent me to aisle and paged someone to help me. After 10+ minutes I called the customer service desk (from the aisle) again asking for help. She said she'd find someone to help me, after almost 10 more minutes I left, with no vanity. On my way to Lowe's!! read more

Workers here are useless. There is low foot traffic on a Friday night and several employees are standing around near the self-check out. I ask a guy several times if there's someone that can help with copying keys and he keep pointing me a few aisles down to some guy that should be there to help. I go and ask the first guy I find a few aisles down and he points me back to the key aisle. I look and wait and nothing happens while these two useless workers are now standing around together and looking at their phones. You get paid for that these days? This could've been a 2 minute visit but instead was a waste of 10. read more

What makes this Home Depot substandard to other stores are two factors: location and customer service; obviously two extremely important factors in the retail business. The parking lot here is horrible. A Home Depot really needs its own parking lot, not a shared lot with a whole bunch of retail stores. Lots of people zipping around and others trying to load boards, sheet rock, and other large/heavy items is a recipe for disaster. A word of advice - there are a dozen or so parking spots on the side of the store (closest to the garden area). No one hardly parks here. The customer service also leaves A LOT to be desired. I can never find an associate available, even though there are plenty of them. When I finally get an associate it's hit and miss as to whether they can answer the question correctly (and these are questions like "do you sell plexiglass, you know....real brain teasers) They have self-check out here, so that's good. Overall, it's near my house and this store meets my needs, but I've experienced waaaaaay better Home Depots in life. read more

UNSAFE & CROWDED--the last 2 times I was there, fewer than half of the store employees were wearing any kind of masks or gloves. There was a person counting how many people had leaving the store, but no one was at the front door counting the number of people going IN, so what use was that? Neither they nor the customers (and I realize they can't really help if the customers are making an effort or not) are doing much to protect each other from getting sick. DISORGANIZED--Individual staff members have always been nice and polite, but their website is useless in terms of finding what they do and don't have at the store and where it is. The past 3 times in a row I've been there I'd find that something they'd listed in stock on their website wasn't in the aisle or section where it was supposed to be as shown on the website. INSTALLATION--We bought a new washer and dryer recently and I will say that their appliance installation service was actually very quick and professional, and were careful to keep us safe while they were in our home. Home Depot is actually the worst, and I hate myself for continuing to go back, but it's so close to my house. The parking lot is always a nightmare. And if you're going to need help with anything other than paint don't go. Find Lowes or some small own business cause you will turn gray before someone actually shows up to help you. Even if you hear them over the loudspeaker saying "help needed in aisle X". I came here today at around 1pm with a really large paint order. There was a line of about six people waiting to place their paint order, each with their own color choices and paint brand options. There was only one gentleman working behind the counter to prepare the paint. Most other locations there are 2 - 3 people working behind the counter, except late at night of course. Perhaps it was a sudden rush of customers who all needed paint at the same time? I don't know. On other occasions the guys behind the counter need to field ridiculous questions posed by clueless home owners who are attempting to paint their house for the very first time, or have never even picked up a paint brush. Meanwhile there could be a huge line of people standing behind them. I am sure that most of the employees here do the best that they can with what they have, and j am sure that I personally would never be able to deal with the general public like that. Great store, although not the largest they do the most business of area stores. Managers and regular employees know the store. Many familiar faces are helpful like Hassan in plumbing he knows his stuff. The return staff, cashiers & pros desk staff are alert and jump to help people. Lots of familiar faces tells me there isn't much turn over because the employees are likely well treated & enjoy their management & work. I've been doing work in Maryland and feel that I'm cheating on my store in Reston where the service is awesome. The MD stores employees are 1/2 asleep. And there are constant alarms / beeping when an employee is looking at something worth more than $20. The Fairfax store is beside the dump and has a potential to get more of my business but those cashiers are asleep on the job too. Back to Reston - with the Home Depot card the system is set up to email a receipt copy. All stores don't have that set up. Additionally when I'm home only mobile Home Depot application, I can find the item I need, see the location within the store, see how many are left, then create a cart to save for my next visit. For some reason there is no candy crap and food in the store. I'm fine with that. Years ago there was some candy in the front. I don't miss it. read more

There are several things wrong with this specific store. Here are a few to name: - It's poorly stocked (when things sell out they won't be there even several days later) - Price tags missing everywhere (It drove me crazy the few times I've been there. I didn't buy a few things on my list because there were no price tags and no employee in sight). - Staff lacks in knowledge and information (nobody ever knows what is where and they will send you back and forth without helping you out. If they can't figure it out, they will just look at you and shrug their shoulders). I've had several situations there - I can't believe I kept going back to this place (that probably was because it's down the street from my house). One time, I came to find a certain bathroom cabinet (which was sold out at that time, but I didn't know). I asked two ladies (staff) where I could find that item - both looked at the picture I had on my phone, including the item number (!!!), then shrugged their shoulders and said exactly this: "I don't know, I have never seen this one", and then walked off. Both ladies said that - unbelieveable, right? I felt as I was bothering everyone in there and since nobody cared to help me, I just left. I also used to buy my wall paint at Home Depot. Both times they guy mixed too much of the color (for the sqft. I had to paint), and I ended up with half full buckets from each color. This is so so frustrating!! I'm big into DIY projects - but I won't be going there anymore. I'll be going to Lowes from now on even that it means I have to drive 10 minutes longer. read more

Home Depot's inept installers of a new washer machine damaged my property (they were asking ME which way to turn the faucets). Home Depot has given me the runaround since then. (Work Order H4641-208688) 1. The inept installers damaged the faucets and wall where the new washer was to connect to the plumbing. They then left. 2. The "associate store manager" at the Reston VA office (a Mr. Wright) assured me Home Depot would fix it after I sent him the photos of the damage that he asked for, 3. Home Depot did NOT fix it and authorized me to get my own plumber and send Home Depot the invoice. I did. 4. Home Dept then told me that I would have to deal with their insurance company at some unspecified location. 5. Since then, I have been given the run-around. No reimbursement, no contact from their insurance, nothing. read more

This review is for the paint and flooring departments. Last Thursday I went in person to pick up paint for the new apartment and the gentleman (I'm so sorry I don't remember your name) was very patient and helpful. I told him a dark teal color we had sampled on the wall was a little too "bright" and he said that same color could be made darker. First he made up the 25%, which I thought was too close to the basic color. He then made it 50% darker and I ended up buying a gallon of the new formula. 5 stars for great customer service for a VERY indecisively picky customer! We fell in love with a rug at another HD and the tag stated it was available in multiple sizes(and could be done online). When I attempted to order the rug online, they did not have the color in the size we wanted. I called Home Depot.com and they were unable to make a "special order" and didn't see the size/color combo I was requesting. I called the Reston store and Ken R. was AMAZING! He stayed on the phone with me while he looked online and found the color was not listed for the size we wanted. He took the time to walk over and find the floor model and verified my size & color combo was valid. He then ordered the rug in the exact size and color we wanted and I received a faxed copy of the correct order/receipt minutes after. Thanks to the fantastic assistance from Ken and the paint CSR at the Reston HD, we've had a positive beginning in our décor journey! read more

I had the gentleman's name, but now cannot find it--ahhh!! Maybe Dwayne? A couple of weeks ago we were looking to replace a bathroom vanity light we had purchased from Home Depot several years ago, and this gentleman *searched through the Home Depot database* to look for our ancient receipt in order to get us a refund or return. Wow! That's service! I see all the 1 or 2 stars in these reviews and I get it (this place is still WAY BETTER than the former Hechingers!)... I go to the store non stop. They are there to meet all of my home fixing issues. Most people there are CLUELESS and on their smartphones. They are not in a hurry in helping a customer. Bad Customer Service!!! When I talked to the manager and told him about being more careful when hiring and not hiring people that do not know what they are doing. He replied, saying "WE HIRE CAREFULLY AND THE BEST QUALIFIED." I like that he is backing up his workers but when you go there- you will see for your self. Some employees when helping me find a product or when I pause for 15sec,go away and I was not done needing them. Need to learn these basic communication skills. Funny part is, that some employees their in customer service think, they know everything and have, so n so years of experience. We got extension cord for my leaf blower and it broke two weeks later and we took back and wanted store credit or refund. Then they told me we do not have these type of a cord, and can not give you refund or exchange. The manager found out, that HomeDepot does sell these cord. So moral of the story is that the employee half assed it and did not research or go to the aisle where the cords to see. Lazy is the name of the game at that store. Best two EMPLOYEES: ALDO: he is EXTREMELY smart and knows about sinks, faucet, and more. He helped me too save 200 on a faucet. I got nice complete vanity set for a bathroom from HD online and he said you have a year warranty on all models of faucet/vanity sets. Told me to see brand of vanity set I had and contact the manufacturer; furthermore, I did and got a warranty replacement faucet, from VirtuUSA. My most recent experience at this HD started off rough, but turned out really well. I had a project where I wanted to make a small platform and basically needed 2x4s cut to 35" and 45" lengths. 6 boards. And a sheet of plywood cut to 38"x45". One of the associates, a very nice guy, offered to cut the boards for me. Which he did...really badly. I realized , when I got home that the lengths of 2x4 were cut 1/2" - 1.5" off. Out of 6 boards, one was useable. The rest were too short. The plywood was also cut 5/8" off. I called the store and was put in touch with Loretta, the manager on duty. She apologized for the issue, and came up with a plan to make it right, and compensate me for the inconvenience of having to return to the store. I went back the next day, got a refund for the poorly cut wood, got the new boards, and a Dewalt cordless 20volt saw. Loretta gave me 25% off the price of the saw. I felt like this was a pretty good result, and I appreciate Loretta working with me to ensure my satisfaction as a customer. Yeah, in the end, I had to cut my own boards, but they were done right :) read more

I had a very poor customer service experience. I asked a male employee in the "Tools" section if there were any screws left in stock that were not on display, and showed him that the Home Depot App indicated there were 2 packs left in stock. He replied "Oh, if it's not over 2, it's not worth checking". The employee did not check if the product was in the back and literally just walked away. The employee was very unprofessional and acted like the whole interaction was an inconvenience for him. Why work there then? I visited this Home Depot cause it was near the friend I was visiting on that day. And I must say this was the best most helpful Home Depot visit I've ever had in our area! The gentlemen that assisted directing me to the department I needed and offered his helpful advise on selecting the right tool for the job and nothing more than I needed.
