It's a home depot, and pretty much, if you've been to one, you've been to them all. That being said, two things will determine how some compare to others: customer service and selection. This is a relatively large home depot with a pretty good selection so they've got that covered. The store layout is a little funky so it takes some getting used to but thats where customer service is key. Every time I ask for something, the staff has always directed me exactly where I need to go. Only 2 or 3 tests of this but so far I'm happy. read more

We had a great experience today with Brandon. He was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied and happy with everything we were purchasing. He also gave extremely helpful tips and recommendations in order to help us. Not only was he very kind, he made us feel welcome. He didn't seem bothered when we would ask him for help, which really makes a difference. He also went to all ends of the store with us to make sure we were happy and being helped. I will come back for sure after this visit over going to Lowe's or any other store after this. Brandon deserves some major recognition for his 10/10 service, attitude, and kindness!!! Absolute worst customer service I've ever received in my entire life. A bunch of children run this business. They can't even get someone to pickup the phone in appliances for me to complain to. I won't even try to reach out to the General Manager, because this business is likely a reflection of that person and I want absolutely nothing to do with them ever. Their phone number is listed on City of Riverside's as a place to bring old fluorescent bulbs. The phone number connects to a ringing phone. In several attempts the connection is lost. Today we were shopping in the Plumbing department at Home Depot on Madison. It was a hot and frustrating day. While we were looking for a new hot water heater, Kimberly - Home Depot support representative - approached us asking if we needed help. We did and she stayed with us answering questions and helping us to make our final decision. She was terrific! This was the first time in dozens of visits to Home Depot for years that anyone ever approached us offering help. We usually have to hunt someone down and even then, help was not always available. After the last time my roommates had friends over to drink, there was a fist sized shaped hole in our bathroom wall that needed patching up! Bringing a broken piece of the wall with me, the worker at the paint section was able to match the paint and sheen perfectly and even helped me with how to select paints! With a asking one person walking around, I was able to not only find paint, but also brushes, wall patching kits, texture sprays, and even lightbulbs! All the workers know their stuff! I live about a mile from the Home Depot on Madison. I drive right by there a few times a month. I'm out of patience with this store. I go elsewhere whenever I can. I needed help to cut some wood. I found three kids, two of whom were talking to the third one. Why does it take three people to put small merchandise on the self? I ask for help, they tell me they can't run the saw (I found out later this isn't true.) I keep wandering around and finally, out of pure exasperation, I go outside, where I'm not supposed to be. I see some guy in the distance and yell "hey I need help". His name was Buba I am shocked that anyone in Home Depot was as helpful as this man was. Except for Buba, this store is this way all the time. Two days ago another kid was leaning on the wall doing nothing until I ask him to show me. I guess I'm just not assertive enough, but screaming and cussing is just not my thing. i remember when Home Depot first opened ........oh how the mighty has fallen. I haven't even stepped foot into this store and know the workers here obviously do not want to work and hang up on people calling the store. I needed garden soil for my garden and decided to pay the $35 delivery fee to have it delivered. I'm disabled, and the $35 was a hardship, but it seemed like it would be nice to not have to load and unload my car, saving my back a little labor. The delivery page says they call about 1/2 hour before they arrive, and I also requested this in the place provided so I could move the car so they could deliver to the back gate. I received an email reconfirming my selected date (yesterday)with a 14 hour window, so I had to be home all day. In the afternoon, I looked online to see if it had an estimated delivery time available, and the webpage read that the items would be delivered "on time" the next day(actually a day late!). I called customer service to find out what happened and confirm when the soil would be delivered. After two 1 hour waits, today's delivery was confirmed, and it was confirmed that they would call 30 minutes out, so if they happened to come by when I was taking my mom to her dr appointment, I could rush back to receive the items. I woke up before 6 AM to be ready when they called, and I moved the car out of the way so I wouldn't have to do it when they were on their way. A few minutes ago, I went out to the front, and there was the soil, on the front porch over 50 feet from where I need it. 10 bags of heavy soil. 10 bags of heavy soil that could have easily been dropped off at the gate directly from their van. They didn't call, they didn't knock, they changed delivery dates without notice. They wasted my whole day yesterday for nothing and they made this more difficult than had I saved my $35 and picked it up from the store. Now I have to move this myself(my help was available yesterday!), the best way is probably loading it into my car and unloading at the gate! Had I just picked it up at the store, I at least would have help loading it. I would give this negative stars if I could. This Home Depot experience has made a Lowes shopper out of me. read more

I normally don't waste my time writing reviews, but given the terrible experience I had ordering a rear door from the Madison Home Depot I felt I should warn other consumers from shopping here. I ordered a door on March 29, 2003 and paid in full with the understanding the door would be ready in about two months. On May 15, 2003 I received a call stating the door was ready and the installer would be calling for an install date. Once I made the appt. with the installer and a day before installation, I received a call from the installer advising me the door was not ready!‍ I figured there was some sort of glitch somewhere and rescheduled the date. Today (Fathers Day) I was supposed to have the door installed and received a call from the installer stating Home Depot ordered the wrong size door! I called today for a full refund of close to $2,000.00 and was told I could not get a refund until the "Bookkeeping" department returned on Monday. It's obvious Home Depot does not care about the everyday consumer and customer service in virtually non-existent! Do not shop here! These people are incompetent!!!!!!‍ read more

I purchased a stove and dishwasher for a rental house that I have. The stove arrived and was installed just fine however the dishwasher was dented. They offered to redeliver the dishwasher but due to work I can not take off until next month. The delivery guy said no problem just refuse delivery on the dishwasher, ... so I did. I received a call from the delivery company (not Home Depot) saying they would reorder the dishwasher and notify me of the day I needed to meet the delivery guys there again. I explained that I can not do this because of work and wanted to cancel the dishwasher. The attendant said why do you want to cancel and I explained again why I have to cancel and she replied with " Sooo what do you want me to do?" to which I replied canel the order. She indicated that she would and a refund would come after the dishwasher was returned to the warehouse and Home depot was notified. Well about a week passed and I received a phone call from a robot that said my dishwasher was going to be delivered on a week day and someone must be at the location to receive the delivery. I called HD back and informed the appliance dept that I had refused the order and cancelled the order. The girl I spoke to didn't really understand why I would refuse the order so I again reexplained it to her. She said she couldn't do much to help me till they received notification from the delivery company. A few days later I received another call from the same robot that said my dishwasher was going to be delivered tomorrow and I needed to be there for the delivery...... REALLY!! I called HD again and asked to speak with the store manager and I was connected some kind of department manager. He asked some good questions that seemed to spot on for trying to get to the bottom of this and said he would call me the following day as it was already 4pm and the delivery co. was closed. The following day someone new called me and said they had a note to call me and wanted to know what I needed.... REALLY!! So I retold the story and was again asked if I still wanted to cancel.... to which I said YES!! Then I asked to speak to the REAL store manager and was connected to someone who said "Yes I am the store manager dont you believe me"? to which I said that I didn't. There is alot of handing off going on here and I was handed off to a few people who I had to retell this saga to. After I questioned this "store manager" he finally admitted that he was one of the assistant managers and that the store manager wasn't available...(I've asked for the store manager by now a total of 4 times on 4 different phone calls) This manager doesn't spend much time in the store it seems like. So today, ... some 15 days after the fact my refund should be made. So whats the moral of this story??? .... I don't know. I do know that Lowes is much better to buy appliances from and they dont have a problem when you want to return something there. Maybe that's the moral if any. read more

Couple of weeks ago a beautiful 2 year old Egg Plant suddenly started turning brown. With piles of mud appearing next to the plant I figured out this was a vole. First i tried to gas it by purchasing the gas bomb from Homes depot but there was no success. The plant died and then the next step was to use vole traps from Home Depot. They cost $10 for two. I dug around the hole and placed the trap in, the vole returns to plug the hole at night. The trap got him as he was destroying a big rose tree. He had cut through several large roots. Well I buried him next to the cut roots. I still have to trap another mole on the other side. All this infestation started after my neighbors cat died, the cat would hunt down all these tiny animals. read more

I usually have no problem when I walk into ANY Home Depot in southern California, however, today was an unsuccessful trip. I started off in Lumber and actually had an associate ask me if I needed help. Later I was in the patio furniture area and waiting for assistance. I asked for assistance twice in a 20 min span and never got assistance. I was going to purchase patio furniture for my backyard, but after waiting and never receiving assistance I will be taking my business elsewhere! Basically implying that what we were asking for was a lot of work. YES, at your place of work, you have to actually work!! I had a great experience at this location today. Special thanks to Jeff Moudy in appliances for all of his help with getting things squared away....on a busy Saturday when the level of customer service he provided is typically uncommon. My wife and I recently bought all new appliances for our kitchen at a retail location in San Diego county, which were to be delivered and installed in our Riverside county home. I had to go to this location to arrange for the install of the oven because the SD county location could not make the arrangements (reason is not clear to me). We were greeted by Jeff upon arrival to the at the service desk, he took us back to the appliance area to review our purchase orders and review everything to obtain full context about the situation. He made multiple calls to GE on our behalf to arrange the install under a special program that is unique to GE products. He also set us up with rebate information from the local utility company. I was very happy at this point because things were working out....yet, this is where it also became more interesting. Jeff discovered, as he was reviewing the serial numbers for the rebate, a discrepancy between what we thought we ordered and what was actually ordered. The serial number for the refrigerator was in a different finish from the other appliances - UH OH! He professionally explained that it is an easy mistake to make because the serial numbers are very similar, he did not use the mistake as an opportunity to express disappointment in the other store or clerk. Jeff was patient and took ownership of the discrepancy. The process to correct the discrepancy required much more effort than was anticipated for the original purpose of my visit - he was awesome and worked through the problem which required an entirely new purchase order for all of the items and accessories. Lastly, he showed me an additional appliance we were interested in.... which was added to the purchase order he had re-generated. After spending about an hour and half situating the old order, generating the new order, and then selling us an additional appliance - he took the time to walk me up front and to ensure that the old purchase order was properly canceled and refunded through the San Diego store before ringing up the new purchase order. I feel like I am missing something that he did for us, because he did so much! He a did good job with customer service, owning a problem and making an additional sale. It's 8pm and was told that my order was still at the store and can not be delivered till Monday and today is Saturday.
