We bought a house about half a mile from this Home Depot so we are in here quite frequently. The first time we walked into this HD we were greeted by a woman named Nancy who then made it her mission to assist us with our every need that visit. She became our dedicated shopper helper and we had such a great time with her. She delivered us to store manager Kyle who then assisted us with building a custom entry door that is still in process. We also spend a lot of time at the paint counter, and everyone there is so helpful answering my questions or guiding me to the proper paint sheen and paint tools for each project I have. I think their pricing is right in line with other big box hardware stores in the area and you can't beat the customer service! read more

I mostly go to Home Depot for random things. The paint section employees were helpful and mixed my paints without much wait. One time an employee helped me search for a power tool that had been misplaced on the shelf for 20 minutes until we found it! We knew it was there because their inventory said that they had 3. I they have a nice selection for gardening as well, and their plant pots aren't too expensive. I usually go for the plain ceramic ones that are smaller since most of my plants are indoors, but I found a nice lightweight large one as well when I needed it. Employees have seemed to always know at least where to point me to things that I am looking for. All in all it's Home Depot, they have a wide selection. Sometimes the box's for things are beat up but the inside stuff is fine. It's also fun that you can bring your dog. read more

Do not buy blinds here. This has been our local Home Depot for 2.5 years and every time we've needed blinds, they have been shocking. From bad measurements to terrible cuts, it's just a guarantee that you won't get good product or service here. Latest incident involved a roller shade which was cut so poorly that it's frayed all down one side and the cut is actually uneven. That's if you're lucky enough to get someone to cut the blinds for you. My record is 25 minutes. Absolute joke. Avoid avoid avoid. read more

We bought a Refrigerator there when it came it w was to big to fit through the inside doors. He showed me and we agreed I needed a smaller one. I went back and bought one that would fit. After a two waiting time. It was to be delivered on June 9. When the delivery men came they were to deliver the new one and take away the old one. They refused to take the old one, saying it was to big to fit through the doors. Well, the house was not built around the fridge. They left, no goodbye, no call the store nothing. Good Afternoon, I have been coming to the lumber department for years now, and began going with my grandfather back in the early 2000s to help him find cuts of wood for his job. It was a tradition we had to go there after we would eat breakfast together on my day off from school. I have always been treated with exceptional service throughout my life whenever I needed to grab some plywood cuts for a bed, or something for my family. Those boys in the lumber department do their job to the highest level of satisfaction. One day, when I was shopping recently, I was disappointed in the management's treatment of them. One of the managers was constantly barking orders at them, and being incredibly unethical in his speech. I couldn't believe it, especially because those boys do an incredible job and are always attentive and caring, part of the Home Depot's core values. It seems as if one of those managers tends to sit on his behind and eat fast food all day while the workers break their backs. I'm just calling it like I see it. Pay those boys more! It's the closest hardware store to me and to be fair HD has a good selection of items, but the staff here sucks. It's almost impossible to talk to someone. They do have some seasoned employees that provide good product info but they are not customer service friendly for the most part. Lots of smart remarks to simple questions, and I am a person who is technically inclined. I can't even imagine what conversation they would have with a novice. I ordered a refrigerator, an oven, a microwave and a dishwasher from there Home Depot. They hired an outside source which they were horrid! They They argue with me in front of my kids I did not know I had to cut the waterline off it's not my contract I didn't know I had a cut my copper wire for the water that leaves my old refrigerator no one told me it's not my contract. The truck driver told me I only make four dollars an hour I don't make enough money for this so after I took my refrigerator door off I cut the copper wire I turn the water off he left took my refrigerator left the dishwasher sitting outside I had to carry it in this place I don't understand what's going on Home Depot used to be a good company. read more

It's tough to find someone to help you. And when you do they move like molasses. Today though, I experienced incredible customer service in the tool rental dept from Alex-1. I wasn't even sure if the cement mixer would even fit in my minivan. Alex didn't say it "oh well" or give me that "your problem" look/attitude. Listen, they have everything you need. Are the staff competent? No, but that's kind of the fun part. If you've gone to this Home Depot before then you know what you're getting yourself into the second or so time around, so why get mad? The adventure is in traveling through the isles like a detective, searching for the lost treasure you need. My boyfriend and I like to play this game where we bet on how many employees we have to ask for help before we finally get what we need. Right now our top score is five. If I could give 0 stars I would- I will never come back here it is such a waste of my time. Every single time I come to this Home Depot it seems like no one can help get anything done that you can't do yourself- example 1: last weekend we came to buy a grill- easy enough or so you would think. We had called prior to arrival and they told us they had the grill we wanted in stock. We also double checked online and it said they had 10... when we got there no one knew how to find the grill we wanted and couldn't give us a straight answer. So we left empty handed. We then went to another Home Depot (silly us) and bought a comparable grill... well this pre assembled grill was missing key parts so we didn't end up keeping it. Example 2: just now (a week later) we went to buy propane. We pre-paid inside and the woman at the register said there would be someone outside that could give us the propane. Surprise surprise there was no such person. We waited 5 minutes and then went in and asked the person at the service desk- he asked someone over the speakers to come. We waited outside for another 15 minutes and again no one came so we went in AGAIN and asked for help. In total we waited 45 minutes for someone to simply hand us propane that we had already paid for and NO ONE EVER CAME. We ended up going in and asking for a refund and we are currently driving to Lowe's. I am so done with this Home Depot. I have wasted so much of my time here it is unreal and it is strictly due to horrible procedures, lazy and incompetent workers. read more

Horrible Staff member's. They mixed the paint up incorrectly for me, and I tried to return it and the staff gave me a really hard time. The paint staff, told me and argued with me saying that she cannot do anything with it, and that if she took it back, she would have to eat the paint. Really? Is that how you talk to customers? I ordered a microwave and paid for installation and haul away. After a week of waiting, the item was dropped off at 6:45 am and delivery people told me they were NOT the installers. They said the installers would come later. I waited an hour to call Home Depot. They said the delivery company WAS the installer and should have done it. They said they couldn't reach them and I should call back later! I did call back and was told I could not be given a delivery time in the future that Temco Logistics ( Home Depot's Delivery and installing company) could not come today and install my microwave. That I had to wait for the Temco Logistics people to file paperwork for today and that I had to call them tomorrow morning to reschedule an installation. I was told there were no slots available for the following day. I would have to wait and they could not tell me how long I would have to wait for the reschedule. I will never buy appliances from Home Depot again! Temco Logistics has very bad reviews and has had bad reviews for years . Home Depot does not seem to care and keeps using them. They have zero respect for their customers time or the disruption they cause from repeated bad, failed service. SHOP elsewhere and save yourself the pain and headaches!! read more

Every time i need something delivered or have any problems with anything there nobody knows how to fix it. I once waited for an hour to speak with the store manager about returning a delivery of a fridge that was totally wrong. The clerk up front told me the fridge was never delivered! The so called manager never came to the front but did eventually call customer service to let them know that they were "working on it " Will never go back there again. It is impossible to find a person, let alone a knowledgeable person, to help you purchase a snowblower. Waited, stopped people, went to the service desk twice and all I received after over an hour was a young gentleman who just blurted out that he doesn't know one thing about these things. I wanted someone to tell me about the differences. Asked for a manager and was told they were too busy. The good news? Mom and Pop stores will survive! This is a follow up: I would like to know how many people who received a bogus reply from Home Depot ever heard from them. These reviews are spot on. This is the worst Home Depot I've ever been inside, and one of the worst retail stores as well. The workers could not be more apathetic to help customers; it's amazing. They'll point in a general direction of the (huge) store, or just point you towards some else who won't know and won't care about what you need. It's gotten to the point where they rejoice to not have to help - last week I went in to buy a piece of wood just to make risers for a coffee table. I picked a piece of poplar, then asked this short Spanish dude who was showing the forklift driver to the back exit gate, if he could cut it for me. He said "Yeah, in a second", in kind of a surly way, and my radar started going off. I actually said to myself "I bet you he won't do this for me" in my head. He finished then motioned me to the wood cutting saw, and took the wood. I said "Can you cut in 4 inches pieces?" And as soon as I said that, he happily said "Nope. No pieces under 12 inches!" I remembered that I'd heard that this is the policy, to save time for the employees, and I realized there is no way this guy was going to break it for me, even for this tiny little piece of wood, so I said "That's okay. Cut in 12 inch pieces". Really, I just wanted to see if he would do it, but I also knew I could find some use for the wood at home. Sure enough, immediately, the guy started hemming and hawing and stalling. Like, looking at the wood from all angles, giving off an annoyed vibe. Then he suddenly goes "Oh! no tag" I said "What?" He goes "Yeah, there's no price tag on this piece. Sorry" Then looks me in the eyes and shrugs. No offer to get another piece, no telling me he'd wait while I did. He basically just told me to leave, which is what I did, feeling like it was another typical awful experience at Salem Home Depot. I don't know what management is doing there but man, you need to train your people better. Have a customer service seminar or something. Until it changes I'm taking the drive to Lowe's. read more

This is a great Home Depot. The staff are always super helpful and knowledgeable. I've been visiting here regularly since I moved to the NS 2 years ago. Lots of different home projects, paint and gardening needs. Gene in the paint department was particularly helpful today and his advice made my project really easy to complete. I almost always check with the staff here to find the best product for my project and always get great advice and they take the time to discuss what I'm doing. If the person I'm taking to doesn't know they always find someone to help me. The register staff and returns desk are also very friendly. read more

This is a follow up from my review on 7/22/2013. i contacted the district manager and explained the situation. she was very understanding and was going to follow up at store level. Refund was giving with out any issues after expediter at store was contacted. Additionally, internet specialist contacted me and wanted to know the issue. i believe at this point Home Depot at least is concerned about its customer service at the store level. i will be giving Home Depot one more shot. Today I ran into to pick up a couple of items, a rake no problem, paint thinner done off to look for a L shape shower curtain rod...... The trouble begins! Looking around with no luck, now I'm looking at straight bars so I know I'm in the right area, but l'm thinking I'll ask, because I saw them on line on Homedepot.com. So the first employee I see, I said excuse me do you know who works in this area? He shrugged his shoulders, mumbled no and walked a way. So I check a few others areas and go to the check and figured they could help me, the women rang me up and said "oh I don't know, but maybe that guy over there will know or so & so might know. I got so frustrated I said you know what even if you do have them I won't buy it from you, you lost my sale. I want to speak to a manager, after three attempts someone at customer service finally paged a manager. I waited 10 minutes and no one ever came. Seriously how do they stay in business. The are close and they have stuff and they take returns but can't do things one would expect like re key locks. I was in a jam and needed to replace my front door lock but was going to replace 4 door locks at the same time as they were all corroded but I asked 4 different people for help and no one could find the person who could do that. Eventually they told me there was no one there that day who could. The real problem was they could not tell me when someone would be there, just call ahead. So today, Monday, I called ahead and was put on hold and transferred twice to have a very rude person say no there is no one here who can and hang up on me before I could ask when they might be in. The worst experience I have ever had at any Home depot store or Home depot online order. Placed an order for $1500.00 worth of decking and building materials on-line to be delivered from the Salem store to my house. Was told the day of that the order was on two trucks for two separate deliveries. The bulk of the order got delivered in the morning. By late that afternoon no word from the store as to where the rest of my order is. Had to call Home depot, who then said I had to call the store even though it was an online order. Called Salem, they are out of stock on the 4x6 pressure treated lumber, will be delivered two days later. Two days goes by, no order, call store again, will deliver two days later. Yes you guessed it two days goes by no order !!! They say another store in Danvers will deliver the beams. Wait all day, no order. Call Danvers store, you guessed it will be two days !! Here we are two days later and 1 week since 1st part of order was delivered, no beams delivered today. Called Home depot customer service who has Danvers store call me, they will look into it. Still waiting !!! Tried to tell them to cancel 4x6 beams and they say I have to come into the store for refund. WTF just refund my Home depot order on my Home depot charge card. The worst place ever I ordered all my stuff online and they notified me that it's ready for a pick up however when I got here this morning at 6 AM nothing was ready and I spent 2 hours picking all the stuff up. some of the stuff that I ordered is not even in stock. Then they refused to help me load it up in the truck. The cashier was so rude that she needs a serious customer service training. The Worst thing is the delivery people. Some delivery people dropped the items on the street saying they don't go up stairs. I don't even have stairs in my porch. There is one step from the ground which they refused to climb. I had to carry each item by hand to my house. There were 30 +baseboards soaking wet in the rain. I feel very insulted. Home Depot is definitely not a place for a woman to shop because they don't help you to carry heavy stuff. Went there to get keys made, waited for a very long time, asked many employees to help me and continued to wait. Finally, a guy came over to make keys. He actually said that next time I need keys, I should go somewhere else. He was extremy unprofessional. Joking and laughing with another employee the entire time he made my keys.
