I hate coming here! It's big and honestly I can never find anything. Staff is a mix bag, sometimes they ask if you need help other times you have to chase one down to ask for help. But I think I've mastered finding things now, I just go on the HD app, set location to this one and look for the product on app. The app tells you where it's in the store. It helps a lot! I do like their garden area. Their plants and flowers are far cheaper than Green Thumb nursery. And they grow well or just as good too. We've gotten dwarf lemons, limes, and nectarines. They have their best plants in the summer months. You can also find Thai basil to grow, which we can never find elsewhere. One check out at the garden. Check out far left. Lightbulbs are no longer by the entrance but way in the back close to the bathrooms and reorganized differently. By the way, they no longer stock any incandescent light builds and have something called "halogen-equivalent" LEDs. Sorry, these "equivalents" don't work in kitchen hoods. My husband and I go here for our DIY landscaping project. The folks in the nursery department are so friendly and helpful. We ordered 20 bags of rocks and they helped us load them in the cart. We are so grateful! Mulch and soil are on sale in the early summer. I saw someone buy two truck loads of mulch for a great value. We also bought a few hose bibs there but ended up returning them due to incorrect sizing. If you have a Home Depot account and you use a credit card to purchase things in-store or online, your receipts will be saved there. It's a super nice feature because sometimes a receipt is lost and a return is desired within the 90-day period, the cashier can look it up from the credit card and help process the return. This lookup doesn't work for Apple Pay though! read more

Needed to Rent a Flatbed truck to help a good friend of mine transport some cabinets to her garage. Truck Rentals are on a first come first served basis. We called the Vista store who had 1 truck available, but just 15 minutes later upon arrival at the store, someone else got it so we were basically SOL. No one could reserve them so it was a crapshoot, we then drove from Vista Home Depot to San Marcos Home Depot who had 2 trucks fortunately. Had much better service at the San Marcos Store. Funny thing happened at the Rental counter, another customer got it (next to us) and it disappeared from view on Our Rental. Everything panned out after they made their adjustments LOL. Tool Rentals is the Place to reserve a truck (in store). It all worked out, had the truck inside of 2 hours. read more

I wanted to purchase the new LG tv on sale at Costco but there was no way it would fit in my SUV. So after shopping around for a van/truck rental, turned out that the most convenient and lowest deal was with Home Depot. Made my reservation online. Put a deposit of $150 for the 70 min rental which is less than $20. Once the vehicle is returned, you get the balance back. We arrived a bit early but Richard was very pleasant and accommodating. After showing my ID and insurance coverage, we were set to go. The van was pretty new and very easy to drive. We were able to get the tv in without any trouble. Returned the van to Richard and told him what a pleasant experience we had with him and this set up. Everything worked out and if we ever need a van again, this is where we'll be coming. read more

I went to local HD to purchase a piece of 6" x 18'' 16 gauge sheet metal and when I found one piece it was bent on the corner. I asked a HD employee "Mac or Matt" if I could get a discount for it being bent, he accused me of purposely dropping it on the floor??? The price was only $14.00 and I found another piece as this section was unorganized. My workers are scheduled for Saturday so I request to deliver between a shorter morning window, which was denied saying "we are not able to make change to your delivery". What the hell? We came into Home Depot today 5/6/2025 to replace a defective door stop that we had purchased a few weeks before. We went to the "returns desk" to return it and try another one just like it because the stop that we had previously had lasted three plus years. I have major knee problems which makes it necessary that I use a cane. Christian immdiately took my old stop to the proper area thus relieving me of making a rather long walk. Keep in mind that he did this voluntarily on his own volition. Christian came back with with a new stop and we went home install it. It turns out that the new stop had the same problem as the old one we exchanged! So back to Home Depot we went! We were greeted by Christain again and we thought that the replacement might have been defective also. Chris again took the long walk(for me anyways)and brought another stop. Off we went back home and guess what? That stop had the same problem! So back we went to Home Depot for the third time!(Lucky for us that we live close by) We saw Christian again! He personally left his return post and we walked together to the isle where all the stops were kept. We discussed what would be my best alternate choice and guess what? He picked out the perfect one for us! I was utterly amazed at Christian's empathy, knowledge, compassion and just being a good person! This HD is located just off the 78 freeway, on San Marcos Blvd. I like this one better than the Oceanside location, because the parking lot is better lit and clean. There is some disorganization and items out of stock sometimes. But overall it's okay and customer service has been fine, although employees know nothing about home improvement. read more

A female's experience in Home Depot- Most of the employees here were very nice and helpful but I noticed a LOT of them use sarcasm with customers so just be mindful they could be teasing you, not intentionally rude. One employee that was particularly helpful and direct in his communication (a great thing) was Darin in the wood section. He showed me which wood would be best for the project I was doing, plus he cut the wood in the dimensions I needed. I also had help from a nice guy about screws and gloves (spoke very respectfully to me and explained everything so clearly!), and a nice woman who helped with different types of sandpaper and glue. Thank you all! One employee was very disrespectful here though, a man named Charles. I asked him about carpet and he literally laughed. He spoke down to me as if it was ridiculous for me to ask questions about carpet and it was very disrespectful. Do not ask this man for help unless you know exactly what you are buying. 2 minutes ago Home Depot Rheem water heaters. I bought two within two years and both turned out to be bad... first one went bad 1 year 2 months after I bought it. Home Depot said I had to call Rheem directly for their warranty. Just FYI their warranty doesn't cover labor most of the time. It was a defective part so what did they do? They sent me parts. I still have parts in box. I'm not plumber was warranty useless. Itook down my water heater and put new one from Home Depot again. Warranty 4 months over so no coverage but water heater leaking and all rusted inside walls. This means it had being leaking for months maybe years unless it breaks down who opens there water heater to inspect. Out of warranty and I will not be buying Rheem products from Home Depot anymore be careful warranty doesn't mean much if no one to take care of them. read more

If you were compare any Lowes to this particular Home Depot it would be no challenge. Lowes smokes this place. My main issue with this store is the torment it is to find employee help. It's been the same story on every single visit. I'll focus on today because today I bothered to note a name. "Alexa" yes---god help us Alexa. We came by to pick up about five items tonight. The store was almost empty of customers. I'd be stretching it to say there were 10 customers in the entire place. The employees outnumbered us but were still careful to avoid eye contact (ie. the man working in the paint department) or to agree to help. Finally, in desperation, we made our way across the store to what they laughingly call "Customer Service". Bingo! Four employees exchanging jokes and hanging out together. I asked the very ironically named "ALEXA" if Home Depot carries any sort of twine. We explained we were trying to contrive a way to hang the hummingbird feeder we had bought here yesterday. ALEXA: "Well...if we have anything it'll be over on Aisle 36 in hardware". She couldn't be bothered to go along with us or to offer any hanging suggestions for their own feeders. Twenty minutes later----we'd examined the entire store inside and also out in the garden area. Desperately seeking the liquid form of snail poison or some brand that won't poison animals along with the hapless snails. We don't want to buy their standard pellets and risk killing our dogs. During those 20 minutes of searching we came across ZERO employees willing to return eye contact or to tell us where we could find the liquid snail bait. My daughter (in her innocence) suggested we return to Customer Service. I winced at the thought of interrupting their employee party at the Customer Service section but finally gave in. ALEXA (clearly annoyed to be interrupted from their Employee Recess) "Well! IF we HAD it [oh lord---notice the past tense] it would be over on Aisle1!" I explained we'd just searched for it on Aisle 1. No luck. Rather than tossing us a bone and agreeing to walk the 15 feet or so it would take her to reach Aisle 1--- ALEXA: "Well then! That means we don't have it!" Had we been at Costco or Lowes or really---any other store their Customer Service Representative would have offered to look the product up on their computer. Regard g the Ryrobi stick Vac I bought at HD. This vac is awesome. But, after 2 years, the vac roller head shorts out at the 2 pin connector between the tube and powerhead. Pushing tge vac firwatd shorts it out, pulling back it comes back on. I would ask Ryrobi what the remedy is fir this but their web site will not allow me to send a message afyrr registering. I bought a Husky socket wrench set in early Nov from Home Depo On-line services and it incorrectly had an extra 7/8" socket rather than the 21mm socket. Customer service informed me that they couldn't exchange just the sockets & that I'd have to return the full set... and wait for a replacement to be delivered. Sigh... at least I had 90 days to do this, but still I was worried bc I purchased it on sale along with a great coupon. So I was concerned whether they would honor the low price. I went to the store today and a Rebekah helped me out. She fully understood the issue and agreed that the best course of action would be for Hm Depot to simply exchange a 21mm socket for my extra 7/8" socket. But she smiled and said that was above her pay grade. She got her supervisor Evan involved and he also immediately agreed with that course of action. They joked that it's smart to occasionally bend/break some policies, if the situation calls for it. Great - common sense... love it! We made the exchange and it's a done deal. There have been other occasions when I had other positive experiences at Home Depot. I think the only (perhaps negative?) situation was about 18 months ago when the person in front of me in self check out did not pay and took his cart full of stolen goods out the door. I noticed it and mentioned it to the H.D. attendant and I also followed him out - to see him hurriedly putting all the stolen goods into a waiting car. BUT the attendant informed me it was against their policy to do anything. Not even to snap a photo of the criminals. Wow... I hated to hear that but I suppose it is, what it is. I then said to the attendant, "Well, I suppose I can take my stuff without paying!" The attendant gasped but then said, "uhhh... I can't stop you". I made like I was leaving and then stopped and of course paid for everything. Can't believe they have (had?) that policy. Perhaps things will change now that California is becoming more strict against crime. Hope so. Sorry for huge tangent but certainly 5 stars for this H.D. and those two employees were great! read more

I normally don't review hardware stores and I normally do not shop at this location, but I had a real great customer service experience. As soon as I walked in the door, someone greeted me and asked if I need help. I normally don't ask for help but I said I needed some assistance with specific light switches and fan controller. The gentleman who covers that area just happened to be standing next to the greeter. He looked at the switches I brought with me and was able to quickly get me what I needed that they had in stock. He identified that the other switch is not something they carry so he identified the model number and I ordered it from Amazon. He was very helpful and friendly. I ended up buying a few other items and was able to check out with minimal wait. Overall, it was a much better and quicker experience than I expected. read more

Review is only for the Kids Workshop. I have two little ones and my kids always want to go to Home Depot's weekend workshop. This happens every 1st Saturday of the month and kids have so much fun. They provide everything you need to make this workshop user friendly. Usually kids get an apron, a bag of the item they are going to build, tools, paint and at the end they get a badge. These are cool badges you collect once you finish a project. I recommend you come and have fun, we always have a blast. read more

So I was searching for New Exterior and Interior Doors for the Best price and when I found Best Price and Customer Service I had to jump on it. Only down fall at this location is that they're really SHORT STAFF and never have the Right person in that depart working. I've been in and out of this Home Depot for the pass Month or so and it's always a Hit or Miss I get what I'm looking for done. Management Needs to step it up and Hire/Cross Train more Staff in this depart to be able to keep all customers HAPPY. Home Depot shouldn't just leave all the work for 1 person.
