I work for a contractor, I'm in a Home Depot every day, soquel, Watsonville, Salinas, and seaside. Of all the Home Depot I regularly visit, soquel is the worst. Their pro desk has the laziest staff I've ever seen. Every other location, when there's only one or two pro cashiers and there's and there's customers waiting, the pro manager will jump in and help or come over and help is they're somewhere else. Not soquel, the lazy ass manager is ALWAYS sitting in his chair at the pro desk but never offers to help not even if there's one cashier and 10 customers waiting (I've seen it happen). The rest of the pro desk isn't much better, when there's a line or holdup it's usually because 2 cashier's are chit chatting, one cashier is chitchatting with the lazy manager, or the cashier is chitchatting with a client well after they've finished that clients transaction. Multiple times I've looked for items that shows stock on their app but can't find on the shelf. When I ask anyone at that location,, they check their device and it almost always shows the same stock as the app but their answer is always "the app is probably wrong". I then ask, "can you check if you have some up on the top rack". They always refuse, always say how they know there's nothing up top, or the classic, "there was a customer here earlier looking for the same thing and we looked up too and didn't find any so there's none in stock. Knowing how lazy they are I always end up searching the top rack looking for the sku and always end up finding the stock, honestly has happened too many times. Corporate need to have this place looked at, check the surveillance video and you'll see how the pro desk is just so bad compared to other locations read more

I find myself in here probably more than I should but they do have good prices. The store needs help with organization and customer service. The employees have trouble finding items themselves. The parking lot is trouble when finding space with shopping carts riddled everywhere. They do have good motor oil that I always use for every oil change. read more

I've shopped Home Depot's across the country, as a Pro, for the last twenty years. Literally every corner of the country. From Tacoma to Syracuse, Destin Fl. to Poway and some in the middle too. Some stores were great and some were just okay but the 41st Ave store in Soquel is by far the WORST Home Depot experience, EVER! This store employees some of the most apathetic people I have ever encountered in all of my life. I know people that work from HOME DEPOT and it has become a difficult corporate environment, however, when you choose to work with the public to earn your living, you have an obligation to at the very least make their shopping experience tolerable, not exponentially more difficult than necessary. I was asked to squeeze my cart, with 17' sticks of brick moulding from the 4 Pro-register corral, to the pro corner so the person at the register didn't have to get off the stool where she sat. Perhaps she has some kind of disability that prevented her from moving but that might just preclude her from being able to assist pro customers. We need people that are able to help us complete our transactions, not ask us to do difficult tasks that will result in damaging our materials and causing a blockade to other people being able to use that same area. For the love of God, this is a hardware store that supposedly serves the Professional customer and you can't get up and walk 4 feet to ring up materials?.? Last of all, but not least to the woman standing around, picking at her nails, in her Homer apron, ordering me around, you're a jerk and you don't belong in retail. As for value, there was a time when HOME DEPOT materials were cheap enough that it made it worthwhile to do the extra things yourself, I'll be going back to the local lumber yards where I pay a little bit more, but I don't have to bend over backwards to spend my money. read more

Well, the mystery of why the paint samples in the jars don't match the selection of chips on the wall was just solved. The smart, friendly guy in the paint department just told us that he couldn't get the computer match the Behr Paint sample on the wall either with the number or the scanner. The staff seems competent, but we're never going to get the right color here. Off to Sherwin Williams! Two stars for convenient location and friendly staff (although the younger guys tend to cluster in the back). Minus three stars for selling me paint samples that they suspected weren't exact matches to their own colors. read more

I know a lot of people complain about the Home Depot. My neighbors, my contractors, and of course people on Yelp. For Home Depot to work for you, it's better to look up your items online, write down the aisle and bay number, and then go. I always use the self checkout, which is painless. I can't speak about customer service, but then I try not to interact with them since I know what's going to happen given the reviews. But again, if you know what you want, then the Home Depot is ok. read more

There are major issues with the paint department. Their ability to match paint is non existent. They are also way too concerned with getting you to buy more expensive paint, to the point of almost refusing to just match the paint sample you give them and give you what you are requesting. They are incredibly rude while doing so, as if they are used to fielding off all the customers who are forced to come back because they got the completely wrong color/finish. Then they refuse to let you return or exchange the unuseable paint they sold you. I simply needed plain, flat, white ceiling paint that appeared to have no tint in it, and even that was not possible. They were more concerned with selling me the expensive "scrubbable" flat paint, which actually has more of an eggshell sheen. When I showed them the pics of the shiny spots all over my ceiling where I had patched some holes, they insisted it was my camera. Then they made me wait while they made their own sample from the bad paint, which showed the same sheen. They said it must not be dry and made me wait 10 minutes while they dried this paint to just to prove a point. The guy absolutely refused to refund or even exchange for the right kind of paint and was literally yelling while debating me about all of this, over one quart of paint. I asked what happens if its wrong again, and he wouldnt answer. I still had to fix my ceiling so I asked them to match the same sample of drywall that came directly from my ceiling that I brought the first time and he tried to color match from the can I was trying to return instead. I had to stop hom and tell him to use the sample I gave him and specifically told him not to attempt to match a bad can of paint I couldnt use. He continued to try to match from the bad paint anyways. I told him I had a disabled person to get home to multiple times whole this guy haggled, yelled and ignored everything I asked for. I finally had to leave without paint. The other can of paint I got was way also way off. Something is wrong with their color matching system and instead of fixing it or making it right, they gaslight and fight with customers. these guys cant even tell you what sheen to get when you bring a 6" block of the actual drywall of the paint you need. And if you think the supervisor cares, she was right there with him arguing with a customer and was incredibly rude. Four out of four cans were all WRONG. Then they put "no returns" right on the label while the Home Depot website guarantees their color match system with an exchange or return. This store refuses to do either. I suggest this store stop obsessing on pushing expensive paint and learn how to match both the sheen and color of the samples people bring you. Also honor the Home Depot policy to return or exchange paint if its poorly matched. read more

So they have a lot of stuff in there that I want, but it's not always available. They don't seem to keep the shelves stocked very well. There's only a couple people in there that I look forward to help me with particular questions. I have that I feel know what they're really doing. I was there the other day and the line was so long to do self check out. Everybody was complaining about it. It must've been 15 people long. They had many other stations they could've used, but they had them all closed with only one security person they're checking. You would think with all the profits they make they could at least employ another person to keep all the self checkouts open. read more

It's a good store and they have new management, but there's absolutely no cell service here and contractors need cell service. We need to talk to homeowners and other subcontractors when we're walking up and down the aisles and it's a real pain having to constantly go outside. If you go to Lowe's, they have boosters all through the store. After making a review and then doing an update sharing how awful customer service is at the Soquel Home Depot, I received a response here in yelp with a link to share further information. I did this, and received a response asking me to give them another chance. So I did. Here are my results tonight at 6pm (4 hours before closing). Close to half of all aisles have significant sections that are blocked making it impossible to get items you may need. See photos. I walked to the front to check out and again saw only one section of self-check out open, and 3 of them closed off. Meanwhile 3 and sometimes 4 employees were just hanging out semi-near the self-check out completely ignoring customers who were in a huge line. I approached them and asked them for an explanation as to why if there is such a big line they do not open more self-check out aisles, and pointed out that 3 employees appeared to just be hanging out. The person responded (this person had pink-ish streaks in their hair) and said (in what came across to me as a rude tone). "This is a coaching section so we are actually doing something." I asked again why with such a big line they would not open more self-check out. I was completely ignored. This store is really bad. read more

After the paint people mixed our selection we found that it didn't quite match. We also had a very positive experience with people in the carpet department, despite computer issues. This review is for the woman who is in the bath service area upstairs. I stood before her for at least a minute while she continued to type of the computer. Finally, she put her head up and said "Yes"? When I explained what I wanted to do with my counter and such her first response was to quote the minimum price. It felt like she was completely disinterested and just wanted to get rid of me so she could get back to her computer. I did try to tell her my dimensions to which she replied "we can't do that, maybe a factory" and then turned back to her computer before I even responded. That level of rudeness was surprising to me as I recently moved to Santa Cruz and have found most business people to be very accommodating. I purchased from Home Depot a fence panel and added a delivery, which was $97.00. The panel was to be delivered on Tuesday, February 18. I had given my home number (831) 689-9530 to call me, which they said would be done 1/2 hour before delivery. I stayed home all day but did not receive a call. There was a call on another phone from a (531) area code and a number not of Home Depot, mentioned as probably spam, which I did not pick up. Late in the afternoon I found a panel had been delivered and placed against my garage door. I am an 89 year old woman, who cannot move panels. This is a totally unacceptable way to treat people. I went to Home Depot to complain about this and was told I would get a $152.21 refund. This was more than a week ago but no refund has arrived. I thought Home Depot was a good company but I will not shop there again. There are better, more responsible companies selling such things as fence panels. SHAME ON YOU! We ordered supplies for a home renovation project to be delivered because we don't have a truck. We paid $80 for delivery and we were given a 14 hour window for drop off. I ordered a toilet from the Home Depot app and it came with two broken parts, one of which isn't stocked in the store. Darla was both empathetic to the issue, upbeat and sincerely wanted to help me fix the issues. In the end it was a complicated order of a part (complicated because I wasn't returning the whole toilet I purchased, just a part of it) and she called when it arrived and set up a time to swap out the parts (so I wouldn't have to explain it all over again) and even stayed after her shift to help get us over the finish line without any sense of the typical 'time to clock out' mentality. I am rarely disappointed in this friendly neighborhood store. I was looking for tv backlight led wi-fi accent lights to put on the back of my TV and i didn't trust Amazon, after best buy was out of stock I headed over to home depot I figured it was worth a try and to my surprise they had them. When you arrive, there is an employee at the information booth right in front of the doors to help direct you where you need to go. When leaving there is someone directing you to the next available register or self checkout. Not the usual wondering the aisles looking for someone to ask question. I called this location 15 minutes till closing and was surprised someone answered, I actually got routed twice so they can check for a gas water heater tank for me and check to see if they have physical visual on the actual item to help me put on hold for the next day. They did just that and customer service was great. I was there the next day for the item. Their location was extremely busy but seemed pretty organized to me. Customer service section had a line with entertaining Halloween decor, and the other check out section also had a lines. Mask were provided in the line by the entrance for people who needed it. Employees seems to have masks on despite the other comments in July. (assuming they fixed the social distancing & mask issue by now). I saw distancing stickers in my line. At least, they seem to be making an effort for improvement. My only complaint -1 star is that there are no clear signs up front where the restrooms are. It was a 2 hour drive for me to get to their location and the first thing I wanted to do when I got in the store was to peeeeeeeee peeeeee. read more

This is about the Soquel Home Depot. I was looking for a Milwaukee drill that was on sale. The internet was showing three in stock at that price. The problem was that Home Depot has all this inventor spread out in multiple locations so you cannot find anything. Two home depot representatives spent at least 30-45 minutes trying to help me find one of those drills. Sure enough they did and were successful. This is a five star review, thanks to those that helped me. As for the store, management needs to do better in indicating where store inventory is located. Add RFID tags if needed to pinpoint the location within the store so customers/employees don't have to waste 45 minutes looking. read more

I have had a long, frustrating and hard to imagine experience after a custom door from this location. It took more than three months after paying for the item to have it available. However, the store never contacted me to tell me it was available, I had to call multiple times and pay several visits before finding out the door had been sitting there for a month. It was explained to me they were working with a new system, and it had not notified the installer that said door was available. Finally I was contacted by the installer and arranged for a date to be installed. Nobody showed up on that day and calling me installer and the store, nobody told me what had happened. Apparently the installer determined the damaged door was not suitable for installation and therefore was not going to complete the job. The problem is nobody at Home Depot or the insulation company bothered to tell me despite the fact that I had taken the day off work, and my family was waiting For this completed before we left on our Thanksgiving trip. Need to say it was another wasted day... This one a little bit more impactful...
