During the call, he was engrossed in personal matters, ensuring that other employees contacted the caller. When I finally told him I needed just doors, he brushed me off. Filthy, dirty products for sale in outdoor garden section. In fairness, I used Instacart to purchase a battery-powered spreader. Shopper delivered a filthy product but I can't entirely blame shopper as I've visited the store many times in person and found the same conditions myself and have even purchased garden gloves on the spot to transport the dirty product to the register. In this instance, the product delivered was filthy, dusty, contained bird or animal poop and granules of some kind of product. The store appears unable to ensure outdoor garden products are free from dust, dirt, debris and bird/animal poop. Why???? Instacart gave me a full refund which I appreciate. I called the store to complain but no one answered the phone. I'm moving on to shop elsewhere. read more

This year I finally got my composite deck. I ordered everything at this location. The process was slow and long. I worked with the staff at the pro-desk. The staff was friendly and professional and very helpful with helping me to get all the discount coming my way. The prices were good, the key is to do your research before you get there and know ahead of time you may need to wait for your order to come in. If you don't have a large truck remember you can have everything shipped directly to your house. My biggest problem was with the consistency of the staff. The gentleman that took my order could not be found at work the following four days after my order was placed. This causes me many headaches when dealing with others, because each time I would almost need to start the process over again . I did like the fact that many unused items are returnable. This location is chaotic & inefficient; I highly recommend avoiding if possible. Perfect example: I just attempted to purchase 2-23/32 4x8 BCX pieces of plywood & was given 2-15/16 OSB. Unfortunately, I trusted that the employees were experienced in what they handle so I allowed them to load it on my truck without inspecting it first. After I came back to exchange for the right product, I sat for 37 minutes, exactly, in the aisle waiting for assistance after informing various different employees that I needed assistance. Customer assistance is abysmal due to young employees without knowledge of the material/tools they sell. Unless you give an employee the exact SKU #, they will usually not know what you're referring to & will throw their arms in the air when prompted what to do next. Update: Forklift operator finally came & then proceeded to whip the pallet of plywood around until he got it stuck, & was trying to get it out for 20 more minutes. Store quality has gone down considerably since my last post, it seems they can't keep their shelves stocked with products that they already have. I'm sitting here for around 45 minutes waiting for somebody to grab a bottle of zep carpet cleaner from the very top, because none of it is in its place. It seems to be a common problem every time I come here the products are on the top shelf require a ladder or forklift instead of being fully stocked. I ordered some building supplies online and received damaged goods (on Sept. 7th). Unbeknownst to me, I didn't know that I would receive multiple shipments, on multiple shipping dates, from different locations. For this particular order, I received one shipment in the morning (everything went well - this shipment was delivered from another Home Depot). However, the second shipment didn't go so well (which shipped from the Upper Marlboro Home Depot). Two of my items were delivered damaged. I immediately contacted Home Depot online service who then put me in contact with the delivering store (Upper Marlboro location). I spoke to a gentleman by the name of Garrett (Service Desk Lead). I explained to him in detail as to what happened and that I will be leaving for vacation in a couple days. To my displeasure, he informed me that the damaged items would not be able to be picked up until Sept. 14th! Keep in mind, these 36 pieces of 4x8 sheets of drywall are sitting in my driveway. On Sept. 14th, while out of town, I check my security cameras and to my surprise, the items are still sitting in my driveway. I immediately called the store to check the status of the pickup for these damaged goods only to be told that there is no record for a pickup. My response, WHAT?!?! I then explain the whole ordeal to a store associate by the name of Sonia and told her that Garrett processed the pickup on Sept. 7th for the items to be picked up on Sept.14th. Sonia checked the system and nothing was there in reference to a pick up. The only notes that showed in the system was that I called and reported the damage goods. Sonia was very understanding and started a new processing pick up date for the damaged goods. I thanked her for her efforts and told her that I would call the store on Sept. 15th to speak with Garrett to find out what happened to my pick up on Sept. 14th. Fast forward to Sept. 15th. I got in contact with Garrett and couldn't be no more disappointed in his lack of concern or effort in finding a resolution. His response was, I see a pick up date scheduled for Sept 21st and had no recollection to the date of Sept. 14th that he placed in the system on Sept. 7th!! Keep in mind, he and I spoke 3 times on Sept. 7th and he also assured me that he would escalate the issue to a manager being as though the item was sitting in my driveway and I would be heading out of town on vacation! I never received any response from him or a manager between Sept. 7th and 14th. After him not being able to explain whatever happened to my Sept. 14th pick up I asked could I speak with a manager. I was then placed on hold for about 15 minutes. The store manager, Reyha finally answers the phone. Once again, I explain to her what all transpired with my order and my displeasure with Garrett's actions and attitude. She defended his character and deposition and offered two explanations as to why my damaged order was not picked up on Sept. 14th. One being, the the pick up request was backed out of the system without their knowledge or a pick up request wasn't fully executed by Garrett in the initial request. I found her responses to be inexcusable and asked for a better resolution and/or some sort of compensation. She then went on to offer a 10% discount on my order and to waived the delivery charge. Never did she suggest that she would speak with Garrett on his actions until I made mention of it. She indicated that her position is not to let the customer know that she will have a conversation with him and that nor is it her position to belittle her associates. But to her defense, she did apologize 3 times for my ordering experience. With that said, I will never shop at the The Home Depot in Upper Marlboro, MD again based on my experience. read more

My sister in law was in the Upper Marlboro store today looking for a power washer. She went to the aisle they were in and it was blocked and locked with a padlock. She looked for someone to help her and couldn't find anyone at all. She went to the front desk to ask for help and the young man said he would call someone to help. She went back to aisle to wait for someone and waited about 10 minutes and nobody came. She went back to the desk to ask for help and the young man said he would help her. He tried to open the lock which needed a pass code. He tried for maybe 5 minutes but couldn't get it open. He said to her 'well I tried' and walked away! Then she saw another man that worked there and asked him if he would help her. After another 5 minutes he was able to get the lock open. She saw the power washer that she wanted to get and showed him, thinking that he might help her put it on the cart, but he just stood there and watched this t0 year old little woman struggle to get an 80 pound power washer onto her cart, never offering any help. He the told her it's store policy to escort her to the cashier. after paying she was hoping someone would help her put it in her car, but nobody offered to help at all. This is the worst customer service! do not go to this store, go to Bowie instead. read more

This is my fourth time ordering curbside pick up, and the fourth time my order hasn't been ready in two hours. The fourth time they have waited until just after 6 pm to text me that my order is ready. Conveniently they stop offering curbside at 6 pm. My orders have been so few items each time. Today and last week I literally ordered one item! So it's not like it takes long to run down an aisle and grab one item! I choose curbside because I am at a higher risk for Covid, and I don't want to drag my young kids in the store during a pandemic. If you can't provide a service, don't offer it! read more

I've had really positive experiences at this Home Depot. I purchased a house withing 10 minutes of this store so it's my go to location for my home needs. I shop here most often at their nursery or at the paint department. I've gotten great service from the employees; the folks who assisted me seemed knowledgeable and were willing to go the extra mile to make sure I found the right product for my home. The folks at the paint department in particular were really outstanding -- they walked me right through the process of choosing paint types, amounts, colors, and supplies. When I came back a couple of weeks later, the employee remembered me and wanted to see pictures of my project! The prices are very fair and you can really catch some good sales if you keep an eye on an item that you like. I'll be back when it's time to get another project moving! read more

I'm often frustrated in this store; I've been shopping here for years, and sometimes it is a successful and convenient trip and other times it is complete and utter frustration. Interaction with the sales floor staff is usually hit or miss...either everyone is polite and will at least say hello, or everyone will completely ignore you. The plumbing department is terribly frustrating and I mean ALWAYS frustrating; good luck find the connector and pipe parts that you are looking for, nothing is ever in the right box and there is always that one last piece needed for a project that just can't be found. On the last trip, I was poised to buy a large appliance that was on sale with a pretty good promotion, however, a brief interaction with a very unfriendly sales associated halted that action in its tracks. I left without purchasing the item. I keep shopping here because it's a somewhat convenient location and the garden department rarely disappoints, but there is better service in the local competitors and the other area Home Depot stores. read more

I am remodeling my bathroom. I decided to get all my new items from the Home Depot store #8550. I will just say this has been a nightmare for me and the guys renovating my bathroom. I have made 4 separate orders in the store and 3 of orders (one of messed up several times). The first order had a shower wall, shower base, and toilet. I was at customer service desk but my order was being loaded on back of pick up truck of the guys that brought with me. Got home and saw my order was mess up. I got the shower wall, no base and two toilets. Went down store to get the left side base. Employees got a base for me but it was a right side shower base. I had to take that back. I order a dual sliding door from inside the store because the store didn't carry it in the store. Picked it up two weeks ago. When the worker realized the sliding parts for the door were not with the parts. Came down to store and was told that I need to bring the frame (not the doors). Brought the frame back and now I have to bring back the door as well. Return the door (which was $499) and then purchase the door again . This has been a total fiasco for me and the guys who are doing the work. Now my bathroom will be put on pause for however long it takes for a whole new door is shipped to the store. This will be the third time that I have to pause and wait for Home Depot to get my order straight. My neighborhood Home Depot is my favorite Home Depot. Not just because of the convenience, but because of the staff. I would like to point out three ppl who continuously provide excellent customer service. First, there is Richard who recently waited on me in the paint department. Richard has been at this store for awhile and has helped me in other departments as well...but for this review, I'll speak to my paint department experience. Richard was helpful and attentive as he searched various sources to help me identify a paint color/brand I used a few years back. He is excellent at multi-tasking while still providing one-on-one personalized attention. As I awaited my turn, he acknowledged my presence in a cheerful manner. The next day, I returned to the store because I needed more paint. Richard remembered my paint color and asked if I needed more. He is extremely pleasant and always ask if there is anything else he can help with. The second employee I would like to point out is Connie. This lady goes over and beyond in customer service! During a recent bathroom remodel, Connie helped me pick out faucets, lines, fixtures, recess lights, etc. She is very knowledgeable and if she doesn't know, she consults with other staff members...she will get you an answer! I selected a ceiling light to purchase but it was sold out. Connie took the time to research other stores for inventory. She discovered that the light was due to arrive soon at the store. She took my phone number and sure enough called me when it arrived. I purchased the light and had it installed. Because it was so beautiful, I purchased a second light. When ppl treat me well, I don't mind spending my money. The third person I would like to acknowledge is Brian who is a manager at this store. I ordered a bath vanity online which was due at the store in approximately 10 days. Due to no fault of the local store, the vanity was lost in route, and a second one was ordered. Then the second vanity was delayed several times causing a stall in the completion my bathroom renovation. The online delivery date status kept changing and I was very frustrated. I was so mad that I said I would not spend another dime in Home Depot. I finally asked to speak with a manager which is when I met Brian. He listened to my concerns and confirmed that the online status was indeed incorrect and sincerely apologized on behalf of Home Depot. It was heartfelt and I left the store no longer angry at the company. I've since been back to the store several times as I continue to purchase items for my Spring projects. Oh man, this place feels like a "what could go wrong, will go wrong" type of place. The only reason it gets 1 star is that at least there is staff at the cashiers. Other than that you are on your own no matter what it is. Over the summer I have worked on rebuilding my wooden shed in the back yard, which means I need a lot of wood. So I go there to get a large flat board as Home Depot is the closest and cheapest around. As I ask them to cut the board at 46" they pull out a measuring tape and mark at 46", but the problem was the end of the tape was on the ground. I brought this up to the guy and he got mad at me for correcting him. When I finally got him to cut the piece, he seemed to have still cut it wrong and I had to spend an extra hour cutting it to the right size. I decided to go one more time to see if the guy was just a jerk or having a bad day. However, I grab the same board and ask them to cut it and they said they couldn't cut the board as they weren't allowed too. When I brought up that I couldn't find a notice that they weren't allowed to, they started to yell at me. I ask for the supervisor and he was a real trip, he was blaming me for asking for unreasonable demands in cutting a board at 46" (one cut, that is it). I simply just walked out of there, leaving the board where it was. I will never go back to this place. read more

There's no other way I can put it. I placed a order in for my custom kitchen cabinets on July 13, 2022, and it was stated that my cabinets estimated arrival date was July 26,2022. Well, the cabinets never arrived. So when I called to see what the deal was, I was told that the cabinets did ship out and will arrive to my home on August 11, 2022. Though I was irritated, I just wanted my cabinets and was still willing to wait. I received a call from the vendor stating that now my cabinets won't be delivered because the driver was in a accident!!! Ugh! Okay, so when will my cabinets be here is the question! Right!?....The young lady stated that she would call me back and she never did for a concrete delivery. I called my kitchen design person at this Upper Marlboro location, who is a whole different story. I had to always reach out to these people because they won't call you to keep you informed of anything. She stated that she was reaching out to them to see what was going on and still go nowhere. When I finally got a new delivery date which was August 15,2022......guess what!? Still no cabinets....no call.....no email......no anything!!!! Now, I'm hot with this company, the workers and this wack third party company they are using. When I called customer care, it was stated that the guy was having truck issues and needed to deliver my cabinets another day. At this point, I'm upset and don't even want the cabinets. After speaking with customer service, I was trying to work with them to compensate me for all these no shows and poor communication. The store manager was a total jerk.
