It's a good store for things like tile, tools, etc. But as far as construction lumber, go elsewhere. Each time that we've gone here for lumber, we have to go through about 20 boards before we find a couple that aren't bowed, warped or tristed. Went there yesterday for some pressure treated lumber. For starters, the isle that it was in was blocked with pallets of things. We were able to snake passed and get to the 4x4s, but they were so bad that they could have been the Bottoms of rocking chairs. Went to Menards and found nothing but quality lumber. DO NOT USE HOME DEPOT FOR APPLIANCE INSTALLATION! I ordered a washer, dryer and dishwasher online 4/28/2025. All appliances were delivered and the washer and dryer were installed on 4/1/2025. At that time I was informed a plumber was needed to install the dishwasher. Unfortunately this meant I would have to set aside more time on 4/3/2025 to have that done. Since then - 1. I have had to level both the washer and dryer which were not leveled correctly. Just because they don't rock or wobble did not mean they were actually level. 2. The washer discharge hose has blown off the back and drained all over my floor, luckily it is in the basement near the floor drain. 3. As I was reattaching and securing the discharge hose I realized the clip for the discharge hose that it is supposed to be fed through to secure it to the back of the washer was not put in so I had to do that. 4. The discharge hose did not come with a clip or clamp to attach it the utility sink so it was zip tied to the water line to ensure it stayed in the sink. I had to go by a clamp to secure it appropriately. 5. They did not change out the dryer vent hose because he said they didn't have one long enough, so they just reattached the one I already had. I have since purchased a new one and switched it out to be sure it is a new fresh one. I paid Home Depot to install my appliances and then had to go back and correct multiple things that were not done correctly. Clearly a waste of money to pay for the installation. I would never pay Home Depot for this service again. Update 6/4/2025 - I replied to the response from Home Depot, completing the information requested and was told they would not be refunding any of the money I paid for installation of the washer and dryer even though it was not done properly. I have not changed my mind, I would never pay Home Depot for installation again, I would do it myself or pay someone else to do it. read more

I'm very disappointed in your delivery service people that u guys use. My cousin owns a bunch of properties with his dad. One of my cousins workers came to do a project on my porches and replaced a screen door on my house. Keith the worker ordered a new heavier screen door from on line.........U didn't have the screen door in the store. He ordered the heavier screen door on line. Waited till it was made. He put my cousins address in so it could be delivered to his house. And pick it up there. So when it was ready to be delivered to my cousin's address, the drivers that work for home depot had my cousins address, NEVER DELIVERED IT TO MY COUSIN'S ADDRESS. THE delivery driver took it to a totally different address, no where close to my cousin's address. Keith the worker found out where the door was delivered to. He found out those people never wanted to give the door back. They sold the door to someone. Easy cash for them. Pretty much the door was stolen. So now he is trying to order another same door. Trying to get money back. He is pretty much getting the run around. Home depot won't help him get the door back or his money back. Want something done. read more

I am always and ever a fan of The Home Depot and I've been to a few locations in the MKE metro and this is thus far my favorite. Why I love it: +Predictable layout. There are times when predictability is a positive trait. In literature? No. In cinema? Definitely not. In the layout of a home improvement store? Yes. This location's lay out is done logically and their sections are well labeled. +Knowledgable staff. There has always been someone on hand who knows a whole lot more than I do about home improvement projects to lend a little guidance. Something I very much appreciate. +Prices, selection, and quality. These three things are not specific to this location of The Home Depot, but something I love about every location! All in all, they always seem to have what I need, logically placed, with staff on hand to answer any questions I may have. Yes! Get to it! read more

My husband and I just purchased a toilet at the Home Depot in West Allis and were interested in having it installed. Home Depot advertises installation and no one in Customer Service knew how to complete the request. The woman that waited on us was extremely unhelpful and put off that we asked. After at least 30 minutes of inputting information into the computer, our salesman stepped in. She walked away and started joking around with her co-workers and singing the O'Reilly auto parts jingle. She never gave us eye contact or smiled. Unfortunately, in this climate, good service is rare but this was ridiculous! If Home Depot cannot deliver what is advertised, don't offer it. read more

Very unorganized. I had an online order that arrived in a damaged condition. They re-order it for me and I was told that shipping was expedited and I will get it on October 18th. They send me tracking information that shows totally different information from what they are seeing on their end. It was very confusing how mine says it was already delivered in the store on October 20th but their computer is showing that estimated arrival time is October 27th. When I called customer service, no one is able to explain and they were equally confused. One of the customer representative didn't sound nice and even made it sound like my concern is too petty compared to the problem of the world. Many stores on Yelp should probably have a multi-tier rating system, because there are so many stores that have both good and bad qualities, the 5 star rating system simply does not/cannot reflect that. Does this store have lots of stuff? You bet. Does it carry brands and products that other stores don't carry? Yep. I like HD because everything I ever come in for is pretty easy to locate and they don't have just the basics for something they sell, they seem to have every accessory ever made to fit said product. For example, I love the Closetmaid closet organization products. I can not only get the hang tracks, shelves and brackets here, but the little rubber ends for the shelves that protect you and your stuff from getting snagged. You want to convert that flat shelf into an angled shoe shelf? They have the right brackets. What I don't like about HD is that the stuff I need never seems to go on sale. There is never anyone around when you need them, but they are all over you when you just want to be left alone. Most of the older employees are willing to help, will smile, and greet you, while many of the younger employees look like they are just ready to go home. If you get a smile out of them, you better thank your lucky stars that they deemed you good enough to bestow such a high honor upon! I can't give 3 or less stars, because seriously? I'm not fooling anyone.....I'll be back again and again. I can't give five stars, because there are things that I can only find at other stores. A solid 4 stars, HD. Thanks to this HD, we have awesome new quartz counters in our kitchen. This particular Home Depot was probably our 3rd or 4th stop but we ended up buying here because they were the 1st place to understand "customer service". At the other stops we literally could not get an employee to help us despite saying quite plainly "we want to place an order". Fortunately, this HD had someone who could and did help us! They even matched Lowe's pricing (make sure you shop both places as they undercut each other). Their internal project manager was very proactive in letting us know what was going on. Actual install is subbed out - to "Creative Counters" in our case, and the work performed was high quality. My one complaint is that it took a LONG time - like 2 months from the order date - to complete the job. The counters took about 3-4 weeks to install and it was almost another month to install 2 small trim pieces. We knew those would be installed later but it was a lot later than expected and we had to call a bunch of times to get it done before our tile was scheduled. Overall though, I was glad we made our purchase here. The materials and install were quality, we paid a fair price and my kitchen looks awesome. read more

I had ordered online a couple of things from Home Depot to be picked up in store. One time, I had ordered edging for my garden with extra spikes - Home Depot had got the wrong spikes. If I wouldn't have double checked my order, I would have walked out with the wrong items (the item they had didn't even remotely match the picture of what I ordered). I had to wait about 15 - 20 minutes for them to find what I had ordered. I could have done it faster myself if I had walked into the store, picked up the items AND paid for it in probably less time then that.... Nailed it I love this store. Is there anything you can't buy at Home Depot?! The only issue I've had is with some employees just not being knowledgeable about their product. Menards had the same model of a water heater on sale for quite a bit less and I had asked for a price match. Now, there was a difference in the brand name on the water heater but the specifications matched entirely, and both brands are owned by the same company. The sales guy argued that the Menards version was inferior due to the "innards" but truly was off-base. There's not much to a heater and you can see that they were totally the same. The manager did discount for me, and agreed that they were indeed the same. I came back a week later and noticed they had reduced the price on the model I purchased to match... Overall, super friendly staff. They make home improvements tolerable! read more

This is regarding their home services. This a joke. Stay away. They have no idea how their services work. They will charge you up front but you will find that nobody and so far, I mean nobody knows what they're talking about. I have paid for services but everyone that comes to my house says they don't do a part of the project and that I need to go back to the store. I will be making my forth trip back to the store to try to get this straight and have a chat with the store manager to get things straight. As the project moves forward again today 5 weeks in. I'm not sure what it is about the Home Depot, but it seems every time I go here we end up leaving with more than I bargained for! They must have a killer floor plan. I've used this location several times and find the staff to be extremely helpful and nice to work with. A few times I have made larger purchases here, and the help from the staff has been great. There is a Menards near my home, but I prefer to use the Home Depot more regularly. The last time we were there we were looking to get a patio furniture set. Once we found what we were looking for we thought we would have to order it, or wait, because they only had the floor model left. The person helping us thought she had seen this particular set somewhere else. After a few minutes of searching, sure enough - she found it! That made my wife happy. And you know what they say! The customer service here is horrible. Not only is the store constantly under-staffed, but the staff there will literally do anything at all possible to get out of work. I order 2 pallets worth of flooring. When I came up to the customer service counter, the young lady was in a horrible mood. I asked if it was possible to have a fork lift driver lift the pallets straight onto my truck, the employee simply looked at me, rolled her eyes and walked away without saying a word. I stood there and waited for 25minutes, I check the time, until a employee with a fork lift finally arrived. The general manager came over and apologized and helped the situation. The GENERAL MANAGER then started complaining at how under staffed they are. The store is great, fully stocked, however the employees are horrible. read more

I ordered 3 things for online pick up from this store. I got a very confusing email that this was ready. The lady that helped me was super helpful and advise that only 1 part of this order was ready I asked for it all to be canceled because unfortunately he part that was ready was irrelevant without the other pieces. She contact Home Depot online and the gentleman advised that all but 1 piece was canceled. I asked for a receipt of the last piece that was canceled. She asked someone for help. Turns out this lady was a manager. A very rude manager she insisted that the guy was wrong and none of the order can be canceled u til it arrives at the store in over a week. I will avoid giving Mr Menard money as long as possible, and having such a great option like Home Depot sure helps! There are constantly employees in the bright orange (read: easily noticeable) aprons running around, and they're quick to help. I always wonder if I'll be able to stump them with my request, but so far they have all been able to rattle off an aisle and location off the top of their mind. They have an extensive garden center with healthy and beautiful plants, a large paint studio and tons of tools. We had to make a return last week and it was extremely simple. No hassling and money right back on the card. Definitely will be back! read more

I don't recall for sure, but I believe that this was the first Home Depot in our area. It was certainly the first one in our area that I frequented, and I often still do. Built on the old Westlane Cinema (whoa how's that for memory lane) and Pick N Save lots, Home Depot eventually helped lead to the transformation of this troublesome triangle of West Allis land, bringing new development along Hwy100. The store itself is clean, it's pretty easily accessible, though I think maybe a bit smaller than some of the newer stores. As has become common at Lowes and HD, they mostly try to make you use the self-checkouts, which would be nice if people were faster at it. Menards hasn't gone that route (yet?). I'm fine with the self-checkout thing when they work, when the attendant can help when there's the inevitable problem, and when there's no wait to use one of them. The real upside to this store, though? Location. Home Depot isn't a real hardware store, it's a home improvement store. Elliott's Ace is right around the corner. Between Elliott's and Home Depot, I have a really good shot of getting anything I need for a project. Home Depot handily beats the nearby Menards, which is a bit of a suffering mess. I imagine Menards would love to enlarge their store, but there just aren't any lots, so they're stuck in a too-old store. Still, I note that Home Depot has done some questionable things . Every now and then I hear dumb things ("guy accidentally pockets pencil from counter, charged with shoplifting and banned for life") or see things that just make no sense (like the Basement Watchdog battery sump for $239 that Ace sells, under an Ace brand, for $169). read more

Someone tried calling the dept and the phone was left on the desk. We were then told that person went to dinner. After we finally got help we asked for assistance in loading the material and it took 3 calls to have someone come up. Next time I'll take my $2,0000 to Menards. Vance (department supervisor) was AWESOME! After renting a duplex I found out that I had to furnish the window blinds. They are expensive until Vance came up with an affordable plan for me. He found me gorgeous metal blinds that were on closeout. These mini blinds were even cheaper than the plastic ones. He showed me how to install them myself and really cared about helping. THANK YOU! Service was horrible went into store to order carpet for my living room and two stair cases. Waited 2 months for the install. The day of the install workers showed up with carpet for living room that was to small because it was not measured right and one step of the carpet for one staircase. Called into the store to speak with a manager and was told I did not order both sets of staircase (even though I was showed two staircases in the layout for areas I needed carpet at) the store manager in so many words said I was lying because they did not have any measurements for two staircase mind you the people from Home Depot came out weeks prior to measure all areas in my home. Called today and someone else tells me they seen the order and it did include two staircases. Please stay clear of this store ! Management is no help and can't own up to the blame that this was there screw up. I will never shop at Home Depot ever again and would encourage anyone else I know to either. First this store is amazing for there in stock items.. But to have a kitchen remoded has been nothing but a pain in the butt. First they want a payment almost in full except for 1 percent. Of what is due. We had our kitchen done by crew 2, the people that came to the house where friendly and where on time. We started our kitchen in October, it was done by February it was one hassle to another one. Product was over ordered, but we where able to return with no problem. We had to have the cabnits doors reordered due to damage, and we are still waiting for them to replace one that still has damage third time. Our 3,000.00 floor looks like grap. We have talked to the flooring dept a number of times gave us diffrent products that have not worked. Called crew 2 a number of times, they sent out the contractor to look at it, he said he had no idea what happened its the product they gave him to use. He told me to use vinegar to try. I did this after he left. No results none very upset... There has not been one person come to the house from home Depot to check on anything that was done, and if we are happy with the results. No we are not at all the work that was done was fair but the floor product sucks. After paying 30,000.00 on a remolded kitchen by pros sorry I will never use there insulation dept again. Nothing has yet been accomplished with our floor oh and the paint job was not the best they never smoothed down the walls very disappointed in Homedepot, and so far no tefund or anything....where is a project manager that should be checking up on there instalation or remodeling follow thru with your customers. read more

I dread going to Home Depot only for the fact that I know we are leaving with SOMETHING!! I love the scent of fresh wood and sandy shoes. As soon as you walk in you are blinded by lovely in home plants and pottery. Hard not to want one. The staff is usually friendly and helpful when you can get someone's attention. Unless you run into older staff on hand who seem to be more into their day to day do than getting you help and moving you along. Everything is laid out nicely and easy to find on your own with well lit signs and labeled isles. read more

Follow up of a previous review; I was wondering what excuses would be made when they were supposed to install my dishwasher on Thursday, 2/2/2021; the guys that came out had no idea how to install a dishwasher; neither was a plumber. They proceeded to try to complete the install and damaged the unit and flooded my kitchen. One of the installers asked that I not call Home Depot and tell them the truth of the install, but that's exactly what I did. I was told by Home Depot that I would be called on Friday regarding replacing the unit; but they never called so I called and asked them to remove the unit and refund my money; they agreed. On Sunday I received a call regarding the refund and was told I had to drive to the store to receive my refund. I drove on Monday and was told they couldn't refund the money until the unit was returned, even though they called me the previous day telling me to come into the store. It's now over 3 weeks since my purchase and they are scheduled to remove the unit tomorrow. On Monday I went online and ordered a better dishwasher from Best Buy and already have confirmation for installation this Thursday; it will cost less for a better unit from Best Buy and I assume the excuses will be less. Guess I learned a lesson dealing with Home Depot and I advise anyone considering a dishwasher' avoid Home Depot at all cost. read more
