Super awesome atmosphere. Very dog friendly - they literally lay out carpet for you pet to lay on. They have a dog menu as well. The human food was delicious. I had the brownie desert and my husband had the meatballs and rice. They also have a good selection of beer and wine! A must try! We will be going back. read more

Had the lunch Dos Tacos that was on specials board, they over charged me by a $1, but not a big deal. 1 chicken and 1 pork in flour torts. Very tasty, a few craft beers on tap. Place was clean as a whistle, staff friendly. Will be back to try some other items. read more

Honu is in a converted bungalow. Three small dining areas with wood floors and a small cute five seat bar. They're open 9-3:00 PM, Tuesday-Saturday. The menu is limited and changes everyday. Tacos, burgers, salads hot plates were on the menu today. I had the Kilauea plate, $13.99. A plate full of black rice smothered with pull pork, red bell peppers and carrots. Very tasty! Very tasty indeed! Staff double duties on all jobs but is still attentive and helpful. I'd call it healthy flavorful Hawaiian food. They already have their first name regulars. I will be back and maybe they'll know me by my first name. They have outside seating and are located behind Dunedin City Hall. read more

My wife and I had the opportunity to attend the soft opening a week before they opened. With a limited menu, I wanted to make sure I got to try a few items. I ordered the Big Island salad to share with my wife and I was big. Loved them macadamia nuts and the pineapple. My wife tried the poke (marinated ahi tuna and sushi rice) and I had the pressed caprese and homemade purple potato chips. They gave us samples of their musubi (sautéed Spam). It was delicious and I never had Spam in my life. To drink it all down we tried their Hawaiian sweet tea (no free refill)since their beer taps weren't ready. The place was colorfully decorated (many turtles) and the staff was friendly, courteous and helpful (although only one wore an aloha shirt). We certainly will go back to try their full menu. They have Longboard Lager I see but I really want to try their homemade macadamia nut ice cream! read more

I went to the Honu for lunch. When we got there there, there were 1 or 2 tables in the small restaurant. The restaurant is adorable inside and very clean and well taken care of. We ordered pretty much right away because I needed to get back to work. It took an hour from the time we got there to get our food, but I do have to say the food was worth the wait. It was amazing food - and I would definitely come back here for the food - but I would do it when I'm in less of a hurry. I'm not sure the reason for the delay - although it did get much busier while we were waiting. I had the chicken sandwich, and would highly recommend it. My friend had rice with a turkey burger and green sauce and egg on top - and that was phenomenal too. Come and try it out, but do so when you're not in a hurry. read more

Wow! I love this place. I'm def going back. All due to the food. Service was crazy slow esp for only having a few tables. But she was super sweet. -The Hawaiian tea was really good. We got veggie blue corn nachos (we added chicken) which had fresh squash and tomatoes some onion. Just really good. Also we shared the macadamia nut crusted Mahi mahi on top of fresh veggies and purple mashed potatoes. A huge fillet of fresh fish. All very fresh and light. Just a fantastic meal and atmosphere. This place had the best Bloody Mary! It's a cute house turned into a restaurant with good food! I had the jalapeño coleslaw which was way to spicy for me, but the pulled pork was delicious. They have daily specials so take advantage of them when you go. read more

This place recently opened in my neighborhood and I had to give it a shot. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant itself is clean and well designed. The real star is the food. I have been stopping in almost once a week since they have opened and have eaten the whole menu. Everything is delicious, but I have recently been having a love affair with the Moco Loco. I love it! A great addition to the downtown Dunedin area! The food is awesome! I can't wait to go try different things. I got the tacos, pork and steak. Both were great but the pork was wonderful! I hear the chicken ones are equally amazing! Try the pineapple habanero salsa! The Cilantro Lime dressing that goes on the Tacos is so different and so good! The sweet potato fries are so good that I'm addicted!!! The service was great, the band outside was really good, the owners personally check to see how you enjoyed the food, and all in all it was a wonderful time! I wish they were open at night!!!! I tried this cute place twice this week. The atmosphere is friendly and the place is spotless. My first time I had the Lei'd Back salad and sweet potato fries which were both very good. I went back on a Friday night and had the agave pulled pork. Fantastic ! Also tried the homemade macadamia nut ice cream which was equally as good. We stopped in for a lunch bite. I love a tasty chicken sandwich so naturally that was my choice. The chicken was exploding with flavor and so was the bun. Not to mention they have sweet potato fries, who doesn't love those? My finance had the mahi tacos and she said they were different then the many she had sampled in the past so they were very enjoyable.She also got a sparkler to drink which she said was very tasty. This is a great locally owned gem in downtown Dunedin. The tacos, loaded veggies nachos, and steak burger are delicious! The atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Fantastic! Staff was amazingly friendly. The restaurant is super cute. Ambiance is chill with a dash of artsy and a Hawaiian vibe. We had a hard time ordering since there were so many entrées that sounded good. Plus, there were a couple daily specials. We started off with a refreshing goat cheese and beet salad. Then chose the huli huli chicken, tacos and steak plate special. All of the entrees were terrific. The iced tea infused with pineapple was awesome too! Unfortunately this place missed the mark. Spam musubi was literally one piece of spam cut into 3 pieces and for $6.25! Rip off! To make things worst, it came out cold. I told the waiter that it was cold and he told me that is how they serve it. If that is the case, it shouldn't have taken 20 minutes to serve. The moco loco is a "healthy" spin on the tradition comfort dish. You can see pictures posted of the Turkey burger on a bed of rice and spinach slathered with garlic "pesto" gravy. The turkey patty was under-seasoned, if seasoned at all. The rice and patty was not portioned correctly with about 4 spoonfuls of rice. Most upsetting was the "gravy" that tasted purely like an unseasoned garlic/parsley blend. I gave the hostess feedback suggesting that the garlic could be cooked down or portioning the elements of the dish more appropriately. Unfortunately, my feedback was met defensively. "We are a non-traditional Hawaiian bistro. You shouldn't expect the food you might be used to." I was rooting for more representation in island cuisine for this area, however this one definitely misses the mark in appropriate pricing and most importantly taste. read more

I want to leave 3.5 stars, but that doesn't appear to be an option. First time here with some friends and I would say it's okay, but we probably won't be back. The drink I got was $8 and definitely nothing to write home about. The tuna looked great but was rather bland. We were hovered over a lot, and that was probably the hardest part for me. Felt like we were constantly being watched and our conversations being interrupted so that one person could grab one dish someone was done using. The decor was great, it's a cute place and outside seating looked lovely, too. Food took quite a long time to come out, that was surprising to us. The most shocking part was the bill, but since my drink was $8 it wasn't too unexpected. But it was $75 for two of us, which I don't mind paying if everything is on par quality-wise with that price, unfortunately, the quality here was well-below that price point. read more

This was a strange experience for sure. As a caveat the food wasn't that bad, nothing that special but pretty standard salads and sandwiches. The drinks though were all over the place. The special being offered was their "Orange Sangria" that tasted like straight sugar water, imagine a concord children's grape juice over ice. Then we decided to take advantage of the beer flights as we were aware of seven local breweries in the area. What a mistake this was. The flight which stated on the menu, was supposed to be the four "CRAFT" beers on tap, ended up being four non local questionably craft beers and a BUD LIGHT. Yup you read that right they put a bud light as one of their flight craft beer samples. Then when the manager came over she laughed at the bud light that we didn't drink and said it was a MISTAKE and they put it on tap so they could get free umbrellas from Bud light. This would be fine, however she didn't feel the need to correct this "mistake" and instead laughed it off like oh well you got tricked. What kind of customer service is that? You trick people into getting your bud light craft beer flight and sugar water sangria, and then laugh at them when they bring it to your attention. Why are these places still in business? Dunedin deserves better!! read more

Although the burger had a nice charred flavor, I could not detect the "horsey sauce". I asked for a side and was informed there would be a 60 cents up charge. I showed the server the lack of horsey sauce; however, it would still be an extra charge. Another patron also requested extra sauce for the white bean and olive burger with the same outcome. My wife's bean and olive burger also lacked adequate sauce. The server was very nice and friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Not sure if I will try Honu again. read more

Short and sweet, this is my favorite place to dine in Dunedin. We love the food, the ambiance, and the waitstaff... they're like friends.
