Stopped in this afternoon with a friend to get information about renting space for a small college graduation party , as we were going to leave to get lunch we decided to walk by the food truck out front and it was a pizza truck ( and I love a good pizza) so we decided to give it a try and stay for a drink. Sandia Bar has a nice concept, but it feels like the modern industrial design is trying to blend with a Southwestern vibe and doesn't quite fit the character of Corrales. The space is clean and new, but it doesn't have the cozy, local warmth you'd expect in the area. I do appreciate the adults-only policy after 8pm -- it creates a relaxed atmosphere where you can actually talk and unwind without too much noise. The service was fine, and the drink menu has some good options, but overall it felt like something was missing in terms of personality and connection to the community. Not a bad spot, just not quite hitting its full potential yet. I'd give it another try down the road. read more

WOW! The New Sandia Bar is Absolutely Gorgeous The remodel of the Sandia Bar is beyond stunning! I wasn't around for the original, but what they've done with the space is nothing short of beautiful. The cozy fireplaces, pool tables, and rooftop hangout make it a spot that's hard to leave. It's officially our new Sunday go-to! I'm especially excited for the kitchen to open once the back building remodel is complete -- I can only imagine how good it'll be. I do love the food truck option and other restaurants that are available. On top of all that, the customer service is phenomenal. Our family called in advance and mentioned we were bringing children. At 7:53pm we were informed that children are not welcome after 8:00pm. No signage was posted to this effect. No apology was offered when I asked why we were informed so close to when we were informed we would be leaving. It also took about 30 minutes to receive drinks for 6 people. read more

New renovated and tastefully decorated! We were in the Corrales area and decided to drop in. They recently reopened so food was not available. They have a beautiful patio space outside and inside has many areas to hang out and gather with a friends. There are two pool tables and the light fixtures are unique throughout the bar. The owner came to our table and introduced himself. He is very excited for the opening and it has been well received by the community. I ordered a Bloody Mary and my husband had a craft beer. It is a full bar and for now, you can bring your own food in. There is a Village Pizza conveniently located across the street. Perfect food to pair with a cold one. On a beautiful day I stumbled upon this beautiful place. I couldn't resist trying it out and called my husband to join me. The bartender makes a great Manhattan cocktail and I am convinced she can make other delicious drinks but that's my go to. This place has been recently remodeled and they did a fantastic job. They also have an outdoor downstairs and upstairs patio with a great view of the Sandia Mountains. I can't wait to come back with friends!! read more

We were looking for a nice patio bar to stop in on a beautiful late spring New Mexico evening. We remembered the Sandia Bar so thought we'd stop in. We walked through the inside and didn't see a hostess station or anything so just grabbed a table on the patio which is really nice. Sat for about 10 minutes without seeing a server so finally my husband went into the bar to order. Took another solid 10 minutes for him to return with 2 draft beers. There were apparently 2 waiters working the patio, neither ever stopped at our table. We finally flagged one down to order 2 more drafts which we never received. We ordered a burger and onion rings at the nearby food counter which we received about 15 minutes later and which were really good but we never saw our waiter. Needless to say I'd call the service in the bar terrible. For a Saturday night it was pretty empty, maybe that's why? Would get food to go, definitely won't be a favorite patio spot. read more

We live in Corrales and have watched this place take almost two years to complete. The decor is really nice but I must say I appreciated what one review said and that is "it would be nice if it could have flattered our lovely countryside with more of and NM aesthetic then modern/industrial LA." It's not quite that but I agree and don't want to continue to see Corrales loose it's integrity and charm. Regardless, we waited a long time like 45 minutes for one beer and there wasn't food or a food truck so we left . I wish the newer facilities that have recently opened here in Corrales were more prepared before they open!! read more

I don't even feel comfortable calling it a bar because it feels more like you are in an upscale living room that picked out all new 'Southwest' decor from West Elm or something equally soulless. I was hopeful that this could be a new GOOD hangout spot. The construction came out great and the decor is contemporary Corrales. I had really hoped for a better experience. We arrived late one evening because the hours posted said they were open til 11pm on weekdays. It was very close to 10:30 when we walked in. The one server standing talking to other guests at the bar looked at us but didn't acknowledge us or say anything. We walked around and checked out the whole place where another employee was cleaning. She didn't say anything to us either so we went outside and sat at a table. The owners or managers were sitting at a high top table in front of the bar going over paperwork but didn't acknowledge us either as we walked by. So we waited a while longer before going up and standing in front of the bar for a couple of awkward minutes. Finally, we asked the bartender if we could get a drink or glass of wine to which we were told they had last call at 10:30. Nothing else was said so we left. The first and maybe last visit left a bad taste in my and my out of town friend's mouth. Especially considering there are so many other nice places to hang out in Corrales now. read more

We are proud of our community so we would have like to see more Corrales and less downtown LA. We ordered the first of two rounds, the nice waitress brought the order when she tipped the tray of drinks and ice, liquid and broken glass went everywhere! The eldest of our group was soaked. She was wet and uncomfortable. The thing that surprised us most was is as the waitress apologized, but we were not offered a discount or an offer to clean the clothes of the wet person. Came on a Sunday evening, not very busy. Waited for 15+ minutes at a table close to the bar, but unfortunately no one greeted us (or even acknowledged us upon entering/leaving). Many servers/bartenders milling about at the bar, looking around, chatting and laughing, etc. I'm sure they had their own sections to tend to, but it wasn't a great look with so many empty tables and so many servers congregating. Big bummer when there are limited cocktail options in North RR/Bernalillo and Corrales. Went across the parking lot to Casa Vieja, where the beer is decent and the patio is relaxing and shaded. This is an awesome neighborhood bar. It's like Cheers meets the Wild West. That description is a bit on the dramatic side but you get the idea. I've been here many times because of how close it is to my house, but not enough to be considered a regular. There are definitely regulars here. I remember my very first visit many years ago. We stopped by before a dinner at Indigo Crow. We were definitely overdressed and there was a definite sizing up that happened when we walked in. It was a split second, but it was there. Back then it was cash only so we had to drive over to the ATM a little bit away. Flash forward to last night..it was like nothing changed (aesthetically anyway). The football game was on, people were enjoying their time with their groups. The bartender was busy but not rude. They take credit cards now with $10 minimum. There were table tents announcing PBR on Fire and they had local brews on tap. PBR on Fire is exactly how it sounds...PBR and shot of Fireball. Can't go wrong with a beer and a shot. Hubs had 7k IPA. Cold beer and a chill vibe made for a nice night. There are feathered visitors that are common so don't be surprised. It is Corrales after all. read more

Just the right amount of "dive-y" with the awesome amount of people inside! We are so happy we have a place like this in Corrales! We biked over and they were kind enough to let us park our bikes inside! There were locals playing pool in the back where we put our bikes, no space at the quarter-fed tables, which is what we came to enjoy, but decided to stay and enjoy a beer. The bar keep was a busy, kind woman who promptly carded and served us some local brews (they had a great selection, albeit small, of craft beers) and we sat down at our appropriately rickety table to take in the scene. I was purposely trying to find a dive bar to meet my friend for a game of pool and a couple of drinks. I did a little leg work on the internet and came up with this little spot in Corrales. Parking was ample, the place wasn't crowded (for a Friday night), and our bartender/waitress ran a well oiled machine (I think her name was Lisa). I'll drink anything in any given situation, but I did note the beer selection was a little underwhelming but my spirits-sipping friend had no issues finding something. This is a great place to have a drink minus the crowds from more reputable places around the city. It's smack dab in the middle of Corrales, which also adds to its charm. read more

Five stars for being a great dive bar. The doors swung open in 1948 by Mr. Chavez (RIP) and is owned by his family. Great music is in the air. WAIT. Nevermind. Van Halen? I don't care much for over processed guitar tone. Maybe people will dance the night away. However, this is the type of place Mötley Crüe would have performed if they did not have the Whiskey a Go Go. I love Sandia cause it's just a dive bar and it's super close. But it's expensive for a dive bar. And I mean, 7-8 for just a Maker's neat. That's ridic. The local flavor is fun and adds to the experience. They have a modern jukebox but it's kinda pricey too. The pool table is there and if you stick around, someone will always talk to you. The bartender was super nice and friendly. She was incredibly personable, and spoke in depth with us while we were there. She gave lots of pointers on things to do in the area as well. The other clientele that were here were pretty nice as well. The bar was very clean and inviting. The place as a whole was just phenomenal. The only reason I did not give them a full 5 stars, is because the Shock Top had gone bad and made my spouse ill that night. But I would definitely come back!! read more
