This was my first time here, so I wasn't sure where to go. The road that goes around & over the dam is closed until Aug 2024, so I just took the only other option. I ended up at the boat launch, and it's a great place for pics! Plenty of ducks & pretty scenery! Not too many people on the lake or in the campground, but it definitely looks like a nice place to spend a relaxing weekend & drop a line in the water!

We climbed down the non ADA compliant stone stairs to both sides of the falla. The grass side is safer tho. The water quality was iffy so we opted to not swim. There are pavilions available and plenty of areas to sit down. The parking are was really good. There are several jungle gyms for the kiddos. The walking trail is well kept and free or holes or anything that will cause you to fall. I saw wildlife along the way. People were fishing, eating, walking, playing games, and just enjoying life. I loved my visit here.

I'd recommend keeping an extra close eye on your children, your surroundings, belongings, and also check the bathrooms before you allow kids in them. The park is amazing and it's evident that it's a true labor of love to have built it and maintain it. I do hope this issue is addressed as several men came out of the bathrooms with sheets and backpacks and the aroma of marijuana all through the park was overwhelming.

This park appears to be catering to the children because they have a playground, then they have a creekbed that I see some children playing in, open fields that children can run around. I spotted some deer walking out in plain sight not bothered by the people. I ended up walking on the road where vehicles frequently passed me by. Not very safe, but I wanted to get some exercise in. It's in a cute part of Salado that looks old-timey. The park was within a residential area since there were houses inside the park grounds. It is maintained with cut grass and plenty of parking.
