Nice cool break from the Pottery festival in Libbey Park, Saturday afternoon. A very local place. Nice and dark. Friendly bartender who garnished my Hef ($4 on tap!!)with an orange she had picked that morning in her "grove"! It fragranced the entire bar with citrus goodness! She let us bring Bridget girl in and gave her a big bowl of water. We had 2 rounds and were on our way. The back entrance/exit is a really nice courtyard area that we enjoyed checking out with Bridget. This is a cute old timey little area, we grew up in Ventura and have been coming here for decades.... not to the Hub, but to the little strip it is in. Love Ojai! read more

This place really sucked. They had TVs and wasted them with SNL re runs with Justin beiber. Unbelievable. The worst part was that their was some long haired hippie dude that was sitting there on his phone the whole time and not attending to us whatsoever. He was rude and staring at us making my girlfriend and I uncomfortable. I only stayed for one beer and left. I wish he could've been hospitable and they only take cash? It's probably better that way. So this bar... is definitely a hole in the wall of Ojai. It has pool tables and a smoking area out back. It's definitely not the classiest joint I've ever been to but it probably rubs some of the "classy" residents of Ojai the wrong way because it's not of 5 star quality like everything else in Ojai is. It's a chill dive bar with some pool tables that serves drinks what more can you expect? Apparently they do kareokee on some nights. I did have to wait for awhile for some drinks at first because the bartender was smoking or something and the long-haired "security" dude or whatever he was was just kind of standing there behind the bar. He said he couldn't make any drinks though so i was just waiting on the bartender for a good 10 minutes or so. But, like I said this is a hole in the wall dive bar, you have to expect these kinds of things at places like this. What you get in return however is good conversaton with real people and cheap strong drinks. I got a margarita with some kind of top shelf tequila (don't remember which type) for somewhere around $7. Pretty cheap compared to most places. If you enjoy a good dive bar with a pool table I'd recommend this place. Oh and one more slightly downside about this place, i guess the crowd that goes there some of them like crazy screaming metal music, (not even really the good kind, more like the trashy weird kind) and that was killing my buzz for a minute. I went over to the juke box though and played some more chill tunes so that solved that problem. read more

Last night my girlfriends and I stepped into this bar around 7pm for a drink. We are all moms and just wanted to have a fun night out. The bartender/owner asked for our IDs. My 27 year old friend had her passport. He denied her service saying "he didn't like passports". He then proceeded to tell us he had the right to refuse service to anyone and that we needed to leave his bar immediately. This was shocking. He started yelling "bye" and giving us the peace sign. I am shocked at how horribly we were treated for NO reason. I will never go back there. read more

Dont expect a lot and you wont be disappointed. Everyone of the bartenders makes an amazing and unique bloody-mary. The back pool table will sometimes steal your quarters and way too many people think its chill to do coke in the bathroom. Still the best bar in town though. read more

lots to look at, so if you're a people-watcher, stop in here for a late-night drink. we visited once on a slower night with a small crowd. juke box playing, and cheap-ish drinks. another night, we returned after dinner and caught a live band. enjoyable time but nothing amazing. atmosphere is a bit divey (which is fine if you're in the mood). pool tables in the front and back, and lots of locals milling around. if you're a bud-light or coors drinker, you might very well love this place. with the right make-over, this could be a hotter spot. as it is, since ojai has only a few places for an evening cocktail, they share the crowd with other, better-run and better-looking locales. read more

Typical dive-bar feel but in a high-tourist spot, not as dirty. Two pool tables to play on - clean and well kept. Bartender was heavy handed on the pours so drinks didn't taste too watered down. Happy Hour M-F 4-7, with $4 well drinks. Place was pretty empty on a Wednesday evening. read more

Perhaps the worst bar I have ever been too. As a Ventura resident who enjoys to karaoke in the numerous places around town, I though I might try a change of scenery and try out the Hub, in Ojai, who claims to have karaoke on Wednesdays and Fridays. When me and my friends got there, we found that they did NOT have karaoke. What they had was 2 microphones and speakers, that you could hook your I-phone up to, and sing along to your own music. This was disappointing but since the 7 of us were all dressed up and already in Ojai, we decided to buy a drink and give it try. My margarita came in 10 oz glass, and was more ice then drink, and it was $10. The service told us they would show us how to hook up our phone to their system. After sitting around for 30 minutes, clearly waiting for help, one of us asked the security guard again to help us out. "I dont get paid to do that!" he told us. Rude!!! When we pointed out that he was in fact an employee and we had been waiting patiently for help, he told us if we didn't like it, then we could leave. And we did! The bar tender came out to tell us that she was so sorry about us having waited so long, and for the attitude of her co worker. But do your self a favor, if you're looking to go out for a drink in Ojai, go to the beverage company! And if you're looking to go out for karaoke, I would have to recommend the Star Lounge in Ventura. The service is good, drinks are cheap and karaoke is every Tuesday and Thursday, where a nice woman sets up REAL karaoke. read more
