We drove by this place several times and finally stopped to try huckleberry and butter pecan. I kind of thought huckleberry would have a wild more bitter sour taste? And I know it's not a blueberry but it's very similar but smaller. I felt I tasted more of the ice cream than the huckleberry? Maybe if more fruit was added it would be better? Yum! I needed to work for the day and the Huckleberry Patch was one of the only places in Hungry Horse that would allow me to. I ordered breakfast (got the #7 - pancakes, eggs and bacon) and I was so impressed! They put huckleberries IN the pancakes and OMG I could eat those all day. Bacon = on point. Eggs = delicious and not just the powdered stuff. I did have lunch there as well. Got a burger and fries....OMG again! If you like a good basic burger, go there. Everything seemed fresh and was so yummy. Service was great - everyone there is so stinking nice. We came for the pie a la mode. It's a little overrated, since the crust is very thin and flavorless. But we've never had huckleberry and really enjoyed the filling with the ice cream. Definitely a spot to check out for huckleberry treats since there's a lot of that. read more

Note: Correct name is The Huckleberry Patch (Yelp updated requested) Fun place to shop for anything, and I do mean anything huckleberry (and therefore purple). Last year my wife wanted to stop at this impassible to miss place on our many trips in and out Glacier National Park. I was always in too much of hurry to oblige her requests. This year, travelling with with my wife, brother and father I was out-voted so stopped we did. I'm glad I did. It is a fun shop and you could browse for quite some time, but what impressed me the most was the breakfast we had. After perusing the menu, we ALL settled on the number 7: A huckleberry pancake, an egg, a piece of thick-cut bacon and a sausage, all for about $5. It was delicious and definitely worth it. I washed it down with a cup of huckleberry coffee. Other things worth noting: You can buy fresh huckleberries here. The ice cream is made on-site, as are many of the back goods. My father was so impressed with the food, he vowed to buy a pie on way back to Kalispell. At $30, it is likely the most expensive buy we will ever buy, but the pie was pure quality, and pure huckleberry. No fillers, just a bit of corn starch and sugar, the pie was tart and not too sweet. It was a hit at the dinner we attended that night. If I were to ding The Huckleberry Patch for anything it's the fact that we spent over $20 on three different sales and were never told that a $20 sale should net us a free bag of licorice. We learned this later while reading The Huckleberry Patch newspaper, which was interesting and informative. Bottom line: I won't pass it by again, but I will check for specials on my own first. PS. What? Did I just have a slice of heaven? Why yes, I did. If you don't buy the whole huckleberry pie here, well then you just missed out on tasting God's gift to mankind. Also, we had the best customer service. The sweet young lady who rang us up gave us a cool purple reusable bag which I will cherish forever. Let's just say this place ain't what it used to be. We stopped in for breakfast and we ordered the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were so hard my husband could not cut through them, let alone eat it. Then he gets to his last piece of toast and there is a big long hair in it. We let them know and the best they could do was a free piece of huckleberry pie. Any manager or owner worth their salt would have refunded the dish. The kicker is when we got home and tried the pie , it was disgusting. The crust was raw. We threw it out. I feel sorry for anyone that paid almost $6.00 for a slice. It has really gone downhill. Yes, this place is very touristy. However, the prices are no worse than you will find elsewhere, and they will usually have what you want. Parking is a bit limited. The fudge is very good and the huckleberry ice cream (shakes, etc.) is what makes the whole trip worthwhile. They also have an online presence, http://www.huckleberrypatch.com/ so you can order from them even if you are not near Glacier Park or in the Flathead Valley of Montana. I have never eaten lunch here, but I would expect it to be average (at best). This is a place to stop for souvenirs, desserts, and impulse buys. read more

We went to this great little place several times when we were last in the Glacier area. Today we were back and looking forward to eating at our fav place after hiking. Milkshake was too sweet, would not recommend getting more than a small size if you really want to try it. I'm rating them solely on their huckleberry pie. If you've never eaten a pie before, you may enjoy theirs. However, having tasted plenty of pies in my lifetime (including huckleberry), this was probably one of the worst I've ever had. In fact no one in my family liked their pie. The filling was heavily spiced which took away from the delicious natural flavor of the huckleberry. It was heavy, sticky, and almost commercial tasting (aka your avg. grocery store pie), if it weren't for the pungent dose of at least cinnamon... Maybe nutmeg and clove. The crust was another thing... I've never seen a crust quite like it. It was smooth and shiney, it reminded me of a golden brown merangue. My husband said it looked like Styrofoam. The texture was dense and hard and it had no flavor whatsoever. Grocery store pies have better crust if you prefer your pie crust to be flakey. So if you're like us and in the area to visit the national park, avoid! read more
