I used to love the human bean. They sometimes got my drink wrong but it was okay because the staff was so nice and they were always very busy. The last 5 times I've come they've gotten my drink wrong and seem mad at ME about it. I'm diabetic so when they give me sugar-filled drinks it's not just a preference, It's kind of an issue. 2 times ago I had to listen to a girl talk about throwing up in the trash can because she was "sooo hung over". Love the Bean! I live close to both locations in Reno, so it's convenient to pull into the drive thru for my morning fix or afternoon pick-me-up. Besides the added awesomeness of the free chocolate-covered coffee bean they offer with your drink, the prices and sizes are right, especially they're not a huge corporation with the trendiest drinks. They also have a happy hour - I got to upsize a drink once for the same price as the smaller! They have most syrup flavors you can imagine, and have tons of options available hot, iced, frappe, you name it! Also pretty sweet that they have smoothies (still need to try those) and quite a few snack options (granola bars, oatmeal, biscotti, cookies). It's not very quick, they get the order wrong, they charge me for the wrong drink, they make it wrong. The times I've had good experiences here are far less than the bad sadly. My eyes opened in a dreamlike daze Sunday morning, somewhere between asleep and awake, but unable to decide what was dream and what was reality. I walked to the kitchen to start my morning ritual, but as I approached the counter, a gruesome sight lay before me. My beloved bag of coffee lay empty, lifeless, and I felt my heart sink! I tried to scream, but I couldn't. It was Sunday, and there was NO COFFEE in the house! How could this happen? What sick, twisted individual would do this to another? And just as soon as those thoughts faded, I realized this pain was 100% self-inflicted. I had done this to myself when I chose not to pick up more earlier in the week. So, while I fancy myself a bit of a specialty coffee snob, sometimes you just need coffee, and having had a good experience at another Human Bean location, I thought I'd stop at this one, which was convenient to my plans for the day. We pull into the drive-thru to find one car at the window, and no one behind us. A friendly voice comes over the speaker and I noted in my head how amazingly clear the speaker was on our end. None of that mumbled bank teller, just high quality audio. So I place my order... "Large 20 oz coffee" I say. "Would you like cream or sugar in that?" replies the voice. "No thanks. Just black." I reply. "Ok. Anything else?" replies the voice. "Small decaf latte please." I say. "The 8oz is REALLY small. Would you prefer the 12oz?" replies the voice. "Sure." I say. I pull forward to the window and overhear the barista asking the other running the register what to charge us for, and hear her say we had a 20oz latte and large coffee, and gives us a total. I check the total against the posted prices and realize we did indeed get charged for a larger beverage and say something to the staff, who promptly refunds the drink. I never signed anything, so I wasn't sure if we were done, so we sat there for a few more seconds, until the other barista turns to try and hand us someone else's drinks and tells us to go ahead. My wife says her latte is nice, so when I get out to a stop light, I take a sip of my coffee and realize there's cream in it. Fortunately no sugar. Not sure how answering no to that question ended up this way, but it did. Thankfully I just prefer my coffee black and there's no intolerance here, but my wife is intolerant of caffeine, so we both hoped the latte was indeed decaf. Turns out it was. Ah well. Must've been an off day. I'll chalk it up to distraction due to the rain. read more

When I don't have time to brew coffee at home in the morning I must make a quick decision on where to get some as I'm driving into work. I'm very sorry to say that I did not have a nice Human Bean experience. This was maybe my fifth time here and the other visits I really have no opinion, but this time I left a little angry and here's why. As I drove up it didn't look busy, there wasn't a line of cars and there wasn't anyone standing outside the order window so I decided to park and walk up since I wanted to fill up my thermos as well as get a large coffee to sip on throughout the day. I ordered a large black coffee and the girl working four espresso machines seemed annoyed that she had to brew new coffee so she asked the other girl to take my order. It's the easiest order in the world (large black coffee). When she handed me the coffee after patiently waiting outside the window for more than 5 minutes, it was a small coffee and there was no espresso bean on top. I love the espresso beans and that's why I chose to stop at the Human Bean. I didn't want to be rude and ask for one, so I accepted it. I then kindly asked her to please fill up my tiny thermos with black coffee and she charged me for two large coffees even though both sizes were small! I ignored the mistakes, I smiled, I overpaid, I didn't get one espresso bean, and sadly I won't be back. read more

I am here almost every day due to proximity and ease of getting in and out. The drinks are consistent and have good flavor. The girls that run the shop seem to be pretty good natured and have a good attitude. Most of the time they offer a friendly greeting and smile. I come here between 5:15am-7am on most mornings and throughout the day depending on the type of pick me up I am looking for and how my day is going. The crew will chat it up while making your drink and are surprisingly quick to roll traffic through the drive through and walk up. The traffic can be a pain in the ass to turn left out of the parking lot so I normally avoid that. Beware of the crazy sewing ladies that try to commandeer all of the parking as if they are marking off their bingo squares. Some will sneer at you if you dare park in one of their spots or any spot for that matter. Now that Orange Theory is open, parking at times has become even more of a premium. Oh well, drive through! Coffee is way better than the backwash you get at seventeenbux coffee. It is usually a medium blend with good flavor that isn't too mellow or overpowering. I have had a handful of times where the roast has gone for too long but I drank it anyway needing my fix. The little candy bean kinda trips me out if they fish around the jar to grab one for your drink and plop it on top. Also, I lose my shit if I get the wrong size straw for the drink that is ordered. Don't know why, but that blows my mind. The only reason for 4 stars is that the Human Bean is not a Dutch Brothers, which is really hard to compare since they are so different. read more

For a drive through coffee they do a great job. I LOVE their pumpkin spice cold or hot. It's still sweet but not as sweet as others and the flavorings are a little stronger than from other coffee shops. You also get a yummy chocolate coffee bean to go with your drink! The employees always seem very nice at both locations and the lines move quickly. They also have a happy hour at times you just have to look at their signs. Their punch card is 10 get the 11th free...the only thing I don't like is any specialty drinks for the month or season are on the windows when you drive up rather than the menu where you place your order. So sometimes this is frustrating because at times I would have rather of had the seasonal drinks. The muffin tops are worth the calories too. So if you need a snack try it out! read more

I'm currently going thru a "try all the chai's in town." This is definitely one of my favorites so far. It is light but creamy with hint of spice. What I loved most was the service with a smile. The cheerful lady who fixed my tea was polite, chatty, and charming. The fact that my drink came with a chocolate covered coffee bean was unexpected and so appreciated. I want to buy a whole bag of these because that one was so good! Overall, this was a fantastic place I've constantly driven passed but never stopped at. My only complaint is...I wish there were more locations!! I always stop in to The Human Bean when I am in the south because I feel like they have the best coffee AND a drive-thru! I always get a regular coffee and the flavor is very good. Whatever beans they use they are not too light and not too dark of a brew. Hubby always get the Caramel Mocha which he says is the best in town. I get the teenager a smoothie to drink between workouts and he gobbles it down! I love the espresso bean that comes with every drink, it is a great compliment to the drink. The line can back up but they are really good about keeping it moving. Stopped by this morning to pick up some coffees and was pleasantly surprised to see a full line-- that's a good sign my friends. Ordered my salted caramel cold brew and paid. I love Human Bean. They are close to my house and I go there often. I usually order a Carmel macciato iced. It's always delicious. The girls are always friendly and they get orders done quickly. Even when there is a line, I usually do not wait that long to get my coffee. The only reason it's not a five star is because a 12 Oz drink and 16 Oz drink of the same drink tend to taste different. For example a 12 oz Carmel macciato has a more bitter expresso taste (which I like) where as a 16 oz tends to be more sweet. With all their drinks they give out these delicious coffee beans covered in chocolate. They are yummy, but sometimes my bean falls on the ground when the cashier hands me my drink. read more

I have never received the wrong order, even after three years of visiting this location. 3. The coffee tastes fantastic. 4. They have never stopped giving amazing customer service, even in the middle of a pandemic. They were prepared with masks, gloves, and sanitation practices long before these PPE became a requirement in the state of Nevada.
