I went there with a friend with some kids . It was horrible kids French fries eat over cooked . Kids meal was Chx tenders and fries . Kids we not satisfied. I ordered a Rueben sandwich . I rarely write reviews, but in this case, I have to save people from the experience my daughter and I had. Chose this instead of the very busy cafe a block away as the two of us only had 45 minutes to grab eggs and coffee. We figured we could have a leisurely breakfast as we sat down right away. Menus had to be chased down, yet coffee was administered early and our orders were taken. I let the waitress know we only had 45 minutes as we were scheduled on a house tour. She kept avoiding the tables outside. At the 30 minute mark, after asking multiple times about the food, I went inside and said I just wanted the food to go and would wait to pay. That took 15 minutes, with me standing at the counter. We got the food to go finally and ran to Our car and I ended up eating my terrible tasteless eggs Benedict and unsalted potatoes on my lap at stop lights. We made it with 2 minutes to spare. Worst. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs cooked soft and got paper thin sheets of eggs with burnt pieces. My wife ordered an egg white veggie omelette that was paper thin barely warm and cheese wasn't melted. Coffee is nothing to write home about but I can not complain about the redneck Benedict. At first glance, this plate looks heavy but surprising on the lighter side. My wife had a breakfast scramble that they customized to her tastes and she loved it. I had the 3-stack of plain pancakes that I rank as the best I've had at any restaurant in the past ten years... thinly prepared with perfect texture and taste. My boyfriend and I were vacationing in Newport and came here for breakfast. First off they did not even give us napkins and we asked for water and the waiter only brought one water for the two of us. They asked if we were ready to order and we said we needed one more minute. One minute turned into 20 minutes they took forever to come back and it wasn't even busy. My boyfriends potatoes tasted like soap. I had pancakes which were okay but they use fake cold syrup and the coffee was weak. We also did not have one consistent person helping us so we didn't even really know who our waiter or waitress was. It also took forever to get the check. My family and I have been coming to RI for vacation for over 15 years now. Unfortunately this visit was the first time we have come for breakfast. I say unfortunately because I wish we came earlier. I am a general manager for a popular franchise restaurant and have been in the business for many years. One thing I always try to instill into to my team members is people don't always come for the food they come for the experience, now more than ever that is so important. We have been to several places this week not only for breakfast but dinner as well. The best experience we as a family had was at The Hungry Monkey this morning. Our server Callie was amazing!!! Upon entering, I was greeted right away and was told that I can "sit anywhere I please" and that "breakfast is served all day". I decided to order the "Spider Monkey", which was a generous serving of poached eggs (with runny yolk -- the way I like it!), corned beef, home fries, and toast. Worst restaurant experience! There were 2 of us- we ordered our food right after sitting down and proceeded to wait over an hour for disgusting food!! During that wait the waitress did not come over once. The Irish Benedict was nasty- they advertise corned beef hash but it's just a slab of corned beef on a stale English muffin.
