    Mango Habanero Pastrami

Food and Service was Amazing!! The Mango Habanero Pastrami Sandwich was one of the best I ever had! Asked for Crispy Wings to go and the Owner brought the pan out to show me and ask if they were done enough... Top Shelf Customer Service!!

Amazing little gem I'm shocked I had never stumbled on previously! The food is as advertised and fantastic! The "sandwich whisperer" made me the Italian ,and I absolutely inhaled it! The entire time I was there he and I were watching Champions League matches and sharing stories about our favorite teams. Make sure you check out the signs on the walls - pure comedy! New favorite for sure!

Tried The Hungry Spot for lunch since it's a quick walk from my other office. I went with a coworker--he got the Victor's Crazy Chicken, and I got the Chicken Pesto sandwich. The location is nice and the vibe inside is cute, but there was only one person working, so things moved slow. When more folks came in during the lunch rush, he had to ask them to wait while he caught up on orders. As for the food, it was just okay. We both felt the sandwiches were a little overpriced, and the bread was kind of hard. My coworker rated his a 7-8/10, and I'd give mine a 7/10. Not terrible, but not memorable either. Probably wouldn't go back just because there are better sandwich spots around. We saw a coffee shop a few doors down with sandwiches for half the price--definitely trying that next.

We were in the neighborhood and it was lunch time, so 3 of us decided to check it out. We thought due to high ratings, it must be pretty good, right? Well, in short, the food was okay, but quite pricey for the amount given. The place is cozy with a handful of tables inside and out. We sat inside at one of the bigger tables to accommodate the amount of food we were going to order. OUR PICKS ~ THE ITALIAN SANDWICH ~ (salami, prosciutto, provolone cheese, ham, lettuce, tomato, pepperoncini, pickles, red onion, mayo. The bread was nicely toasted for a perfect crunch, but it was quite small for $16. They could barely cut the sandwich into 3rds. Not much meat, but it was good. 3.5/5 CORN SALAD ~ corn, baby arugula and mixed greens, artichoke hearts, hearts of palm, broccoli, sliced almonds, balsamic dressing. Like the sandwich, it was small for $19. It tasted okay, but nothing special. And you could definitely make this at home using a jar of artichoke hearts and canned corn. 3/5 MEAT LASAGNA ~ with sausages and ground beef. I didn't try this, but I was told it was cheesy and saucy but a bit too salty. They do give a decent portion for $21. 3.5/5 THE HUNGRY SPOT LAZY PIZZA ~ homemade pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, sausage, salami, mushrooms, red onions, bell peppers, black olives. This isn't really pizza. Like the title, it's lazy pizza made with a loaf of bread. It was good, and the edges were crunchy, but it just didn't wow me, because I remember doing something similar when I was in middle school as an after-school snack! If you could toast bread, you can make this yourself. 3/5 Only 2 people were working, and it seemed overwhelming for them. One was the lady boss who took the orders and did the cashiering and the guy was making the orders. We waited about 15-20 minutes for a portion of our order to arrive, while many patrons were also waiting patiently for their food. I think if they had another worker, it would help speed things along. The place had many funny signs posted on the walls and in the bathroom. You can amuse yourself by reading while you wait for your food. I think that's what makes the place unique. But the food is what you'd expect from a deli. It's perfect for when you're too lazy to go to the market to buy ingredients to make something yourself.

Not the best view of the inside but trust - it is bomb. This one is the turkey brisket.

Found this place working nearby temporarily at SMMC. I LOVE it!!! Katerina is a hoot. She is passionate about her business, funny, not afraid to strike up a conversation and most importantly makes great food. All of the sandwiches I've tried are just about perfect. They're heated to a perfect crunch and lip smacking delicious all the way through the sando. I discovered the "turkey brisket" which she smokes herself and it is outta' this world. I've ordered it twice with everything and jalapeños and it is a 10/10. I think I will be at SMMC for several weeks so I see many more sandwiches in my future!

    Victor's Crazy Chicken Sandwich

Lying within the neighborhood of Hayes Valley, I located the Hungry Spot. This nifty gem has three TVs, an array of old school posters on the wall and brand new tables and seats. The co-owner, Katerina, showed great pride in her establishment and her recipes as she boasted where she sourced her fresh ingredients from. It was September of 2024 and The Hungry Spot has been operating for only three months long. I came in during lunch and there were a few customers appearing to arrive during their break for a quick bite to go. I ordered a 6 pc order of Mango Habanero and a sandwich called, Victor's Crazy Chicken. The wings were indeed, freshly fried. The mango habanero sauce didn't have the kick in heat which I was expecting. The wings were lightly coated in flour and had a simple crispiness to it. Paired with my wings was a homemade Bleu Cheese dressing. The dressing was mild and didn't have that potent flavor of "cheesy bitterness" to it. My sandwich, Victor's Crazy Chicken, was accompanied by proprietary chips, seasoned with Himalayan Salt. I noticed that this sandwich was supposed to have chips prepared inside of the sandwich. Katarina claimed that the current menu needed some updates. That's OK. Victor's Crazy Chicken was prepared neatly using a fresh and warm Dutch Crunch roll with medium chunks of chicken thigh meat, mushrooms, green peppers, red, finely shredded lettuce (real fine) and provolone cheese. I valued how the Dutch Crunch was pressed nicely and served to me buttered and warm. Nothing beats hot and luscious, carby bread! The Hungry Spot deserves a solid 4 out of 5. Katerina mentioned a garlic sauce in my sandwich and I didn't taste a sauce to help tie the ingredients of my sandwich altogether. Perhaps, an oil (fat) and vinegar (tart) base would boast some flavor into my Sammy? Additionally, my wings were perfectly fried but the execution was basic. From the wings' crunch, the way my wings were sauced, and the sauce itself--there was nothing outstanding about my wings. If I were to come back I'd try their pizzas and pastas.

This place is amazing! We were visiting San Francisco earlier this month and looked up places where we could grab a quick bite to eat and this ones stood out. So we went there straight from airport to grab a bite to eat. First off it is the most adorable little restaurant in all of San Francisco! You can see from the pictures that it has so much personality. And Katarina was so delightful as we tried to decide what we wanted to eat for lunch. I ended up ordering the Italian Sandwich and yes, it was on the pricey side and it took a little while for them to make it, but it was so worth it! There is something about their bread that is amazing! Everything about this place was a 5+!

If you desire home cooking, a neighborhood cafe and a fabulous owner, this is the place you need to be. When you walk in immediately you are drawn to read all the fun signs that are posted. The ones in the bathroom are the funniest. Katerina, the owner is the real deal. She is incredibly welcoming with a passion for cooking & good humor- hence the funny signs. Katerina is from Bulgaria as was my friend with me so they were able to chat about Bulgarian foods. Katerina is so sweet- she brought us a complimentary dish of her veggie lasagne which was perfection with the sauce being a mix of marinara & Alfredo. Our sandwiches on toasted Dutch crunch were so yummy and our lattes very good. The salads are extremely fresh with so many goodies in them. We felt like we made a friend in Katerina and will most definitely be back! I mean how often do you hug the owner/chef on the first visit?

If you're craving something refreshing, light, and fruity, the Sonoma is a must. The pears take it to the next level and give it that perfect sweet, crisp bite that makes every forkful feel extra refreshing. It's the kind of bowl you order when you want to feel bright and satisfied. Now if you're in the mood for something warm, crunchy, and nutty, the Bangkok Bowl is your girl. The texture, the richness, the cozy vibes -- chef's kiss. It's hearty without being heavy and hits all the comfort-food notes. And can we talk about portions?! These bowls are NO joke. I swear I made a huge dent in mine, looked down thinking I was almost done... only to realize I basically still had a whole second meal left. Instant take-home win. On top of all that, the staff is super friendly, the space is clean, bright, and welcoming, and the whole experience just feels good from start to finish. I came for the seasonal menu but I'll definitely be back for everything else too. If you're debating what to order: Sonoma for fresh + fruity, Bangkok for warm + crunchy -- you truly can't go wrong!

I came with a group of 7, and they were able to seat us pretty quickly. We ordered: A whole rotisserie chicken, the RTR Rice Bowl, the Chicken soup, the fried chicken sandwich, the seared broccoli, the rotisserie fat rice, and the shredded cabbage & almond. Best Dishes: The Rotisserie chicken and the Shredded cabbage & almond. The rotisserie chicken skin is really crispy and delicious, we were all fighting over who gets to eat the skin. The chicken is so juicy, it's really the best rotisserie chicken I've had. We understand why this place is so well regarded. The shredded cabbage is definitely the best side and we should've gotten another order, as we quickly finished ours and were basically licking the bowl clean. Worst: The rotisserie fat rice and the chicken soup. The rice was basically untouched and none of us wanted to eat it. It's ok, just falls short compared to the other sides. The soup was also ok, it's just a huge bowl and it felt like a waste stuffing ourselves with that when there were other better dishes. The rice bowl was pretty good, and is really good value. It's yummy and a good meal for 12.50. It's a very casual place, you order at the cashier and find a table and seat yourself there. Great for a quick lunch.

Never a moment where old dishes or cups were sitting on the table. To eat, my friend and I had the sweet potato, baked potato, quarter chicken (dark meat), artichoke, brussel sprouts, and the sorbet : ) 1. Sweet potato was sweet and flavorful 2. Baked potato was good but needed extra salt or butter to really jazz it up. 3. Quarter chicken was sooo juicy and flavorful 4. Artichoke needed some level of salt to even out the heavy lemon but well cooked nonetheless 5. Brussel sprouts were flawless 6. The sorbet is amazing! It's how I expect strawberry ice cream to taste but lighter and fresher. Overall, would I come back? Absolutely Would I recommend it to a friend? Already done lol
