Well it's cheap, and likely I should not have ordered American food here, but I did and it was not good. Sticky tables, fuzzy mold on my cheese, and overcooked meat. Perfectly cooked eggs on the other hand....? Nice bread too. There were some things I liked. But it's a good thing it was cheap cuz I threw it away when I got to the fuzzy mold part and went somewhere else. You place your order with the cashier and you can take a seat at a table or take your food to go. We opted to eat in while the food was piping hot! GRILLED LAMB KEBAB PLATE ~ Meat was juicy and tender though cooked more well than medium, rice was a bit too soft and soggy, hummus was watery and thinned out. They give you a generous portion, but I've had better. HUMMUS BOWL W/ CHICKEN SHAWARMA ~ as I said, hummus could have been much thicker, but chicken was tasty. We were disappointed with the textures. It could have been better if they were less heavy handed with the water. We usually aren't in this part of town and made a point to try them out. I've been going to Opa for years! Best spot nearby for a lunch break. I've had many items ranging from their plates to their wraps to their chicken sandwich. I don't think I've ever been here when they weren't busy. They have a great system though. The owners and peeps who work here are always super friendly and efficient. The food comes out hot, fresh, and consistent. My go to is their gyro plate. Otherwise, #2 for me would be their kefta plate. Both are served with tons of rice and salad. They just opened another sister location inside of Kaiser on Geary. Haven't checked that one out yet. Prices are reasonable. I can never finish a full plate and have leftovers for the next day. I've had my eye on Opa Cafe for quite awhile and yesterday was the first time I was able to visit and try their food. The cafe is set up for you to order at the counter and then take a seat and wait; they let you know when your order is ready and you pick it up at the counter...very casual. Most orders were takeout, so there were plenty of seats in their dining area. Everything is served in takeout containers, even if you want to dine in, so don't expect real utensils or plates and glasses. Now for the food: lots of options, so it was difficult to decide, but I went with the grilled beef kebob plate with salad, rice, and hummus ($16.95). It came out piping hot and nicely flavored, although I needed an addition of salt to bring the flavors out. I think it would've benefited from a nice squeeze of fresh lemon. The rice, salad, and hummus portions were great, but it was a little shy on the meat side. The salad also needed a bit more dressing for my taste, but I'm sure the amount of salt and salad dressing would've suited many others just fine. Service was pretty fast considering how busy they were. I was there at lunch time, so lots of folks from Kaiser were picking up lunch. The woman at the counter was really nice and friendly, too, so it was very pleasant. I would definitely go again when I can. read more

Walked over from Kaiser to grab a quick lunch and noticed many of the workers also come here on their break.. I can see why! Ordered their chicken shawarma plate and was blessed with a hefty amount of food. Their hummus and tzatziki is probably one of the best I've had so far in SF. Their chicken was juicy and tender and the rice was seasoned well. They also have a huge selection of drinks and I enjoyed looking through the different options they had! For dessert, I ordered their chocolate chip cookie and that was amazing as well. Soft and gooey with just the right amount of chocolate chips and crunch. Such a disappointment. Came with a few colleagues for an early lunch figuring we'd skip the line. We waited for 20 minutes - not because it was crowded (there were exactly zero people in line) - but because the staff was busy preparing a zillion sandwiches for corporate deliveries. They had no dedicated staff available to attend to the people waiting in line. Staff was overworked and short with us. When we were finally permitted to order, we got a a smoothie, salad and sandwiches. I had hoped it would be worth the wait. But the salad was basic and overdressed, the lettuce soggy. Came here three times in one week while at the hospital up the hill over a few nights. Fast, filling and very generous portions. No complaints there. I ordered the Mezza plate which was good, with the exception of the Opa salad. It was just a pile of shredded cabbage with a tablespoon or so of chopped tomato and onion, there was no dressing. The grape leaves and falafel along with the hummus were great. Could have used a few more pieces of pita bread. We also ordered the Hunter's Club and Chicken Wrap, both were great. Large portions enough to save one half and served with chips. Funny when the guy opened a bag of chips to put some on our plate, he popped a few into his mouth. They were good chips. Some of the best Middle Eastern food we've ever had! We were coming home from a medical procedure and wanted to get something special to eat. This really filled the bill! Where warmer was freshly cooked roast lamb and the rotisserie chicken is juicy, flavorful, but not greasy at all. The portions are huge, so either come hungry or be prepared for a lot of leftovers. Indoor and outdoor seating and the staff couldn't be more gracious. I was craving some mediterranean so I decided to come here and realized that they have a pretty extensive menu with a ton of sandwich options too! Service was great and around the time I went, there was plenty of seating inside. It wasn't too busy but there were definitely regulars coming in n out to pick up orders while I was there. It was nice to see those kinds of friendly interactions! I ordered a gyro/tzatziki wrap and got some chili spread on the side. My friend ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich. The chicken parm sandwich was okay. It came with a nice salad on the side but the sandwich itself lacked some flavor. It was hot and pretty filling, but wasn't the best. The gyro wrap was great. It had a perfect amount of sauce, was flavorful, satiating, and everything I was craving. There was a good vegetable to meat ratio and just tasted bright and delicious. To finish my meal, I also bought one of the red velvet cookies they were selling in the display cases by the cash register. It was pretty massive and while it wasn't the best cookie in the world, it was still pretty good and tasted great. I definitely want to come here again the next time I'm in SF. One of my all-time favorite lunch spots in the city! Parking can be rough but doable for a quick call & pick-up or if you're lucky enough to find a spot in the neighborhood, they've got enough seating inside. Both chicken are extremely juicy and flavorful; the portions are large enough for leftovers. When I'm in the mood for a solid lunch that won't disappoint, this is my go-to. It comes out fresh, hot, and tasty, with good filling and avocado slices on top. I've had it with the hash browns, but the real way to get it is with the salad. Large portions of greens with plenty of chopped goodies mixed in. Good coffee, and coolers with good drinks too. And I usually fall for a large fresh cookie that's displayed right next to the cash register. Cheerful and busy staff, nice woman-owned who's always ready with a friendly greeting, and a good mix of neighborhood and hospital staff. They have out door seating and table seating. They have a variety of drinks in the back. Bathroom and an open kitchen. In the open kitchen you can see all the chef cooking and all the ingredients. The sweets are also right in front of the display window. The staff are very friendly and nice. They have frequent customers so they remember what each customers order.
