It's all about the food here at M Stop. It's a deli & convenience store combined into one. The sandwiches come loaded especially when ordered Sal's way, so you get a hearty meal - but can always customize and take off toppings if you want. Anything with the Tri-tip, or chicken I strongly recommend, and have to say this is my favorite sandwich spot in San Francisco (and there are many good spots in town!). They also got snacks and other packaged goodies here too including some snacks I've never seen anywhere else before. Staff is always great, friendly, and helpful. M Stop is one of those locally owned shops that just breathes San Francisco. I can rave about how much the aesthetics pay homage to San Francisco with its Muni bench, local artwork, and of course vintage sports apparel etc. And of course it is located right by the stop on M line. This sandwich was big juicy and very satisfying. The chipotle sauce brought a nice level of heat and the flavors were bold without being overwhelming. The shop is spacious with a few tables, and the menu is limited, but does serves Tri Tip, Halal Chicken, Halal Turkey, and Pastrami. I opted to exclude the Chipotle Sauce from my Pastrami Sandwich, and found It generous of meat and highly flavorful. Found this place on Yelp and although there were two other contenders around the corner, the decor and pictures got me. There's even a little mock ticket box and train seats as the waiting area. The menu is small and you get a choice of bread, but that just means they specialize in what they do. M Line (tri-tip) Very strong BBQ flavor. As soon as you bite into the sandwich, you get a punch of flavor. The tri-tip was tender and saucy. After several bites though, it was too much of the same intense bbq flavor and I needed to switch it up. More veggies would probably balance out this sando. T Line (turkey & pastrami) This was so loaded! Tons of flavor with the various sauces, veggies, and cheese. The pastrami added a salty contrast to the fresh cold taste of turkey. I enjoyed this sandwich more than the M Line. Of course, dutch crunch is a must for choice of bread for that crusty crunch texture. I just moved down the street from the M Stop Deli and it has been a challenge not to go too often. It's really delicious, with high-quality ingredients and creative sandwiches. I have tried the L, J, and P line sandwiches which were all really great. Occasionally, there are special sandwich offerings and the one I tried was really good. My partner is a pescatarian, so the menu sandwiches as-is need omissions. However, the folks at M Stop Deli are happy to accommodate vegetarians. No, they're not shaped like a Muni streetcar, but there are seventies-style Muni transfer menus and Muni memorobilia on the shelves. But what really matters is what's on the bread. And, for my M, that was delicious, moist, tender tri-tip beef, tasty sauces, and various veggies. And it was overall delicious and a good serving size. (Full disclosure: I requested no mayo, lettuce, or jalapeño. Which they filled accurately.) There's a few tables inside, a bench outside, and it's a half-mile walk to the delightful Cayuga Playground, where I took it to eat on one of their picnic tables. Which might explain why the Dutch crunch was not so crunchy when I got there. I'll probably try the sourdough next time. Yes, I do plan to return. Ambiance, not so much beyond the Muni theme.
