Kept seeing this place on the map, so finally decided to stop by and try it out - so glad I did! As soon as you walk in you're greeted with the sweet smell that instantly puts a smile on your face. There was such a variety of flavors to choose from, I had trouble deciding, but I let my heart lead (which is important when it comes to ice cream) and left happy with a cone of birthday cake ice cream. Not sure when I'll be back in the area, but when I do, this place is at the top of my list!

Super cute old school looking ice cream parlor . The interior is dated and the vibe screams old school ice cream parlor . Parking lot with free parking . The counter staff said the business is still family owned . There's even a drive thru . Lots of ice cream flavors and dessert options . I opted for a brownie sundae . It hit the sugar spot and I left satisfied with my sweet tooth cured . I would patronize again and recommend for a sweet treat !

I been here plenty of times and I always get the rum raisin because that's just my favorite ice cream flavor. But this was an impromptu visit so I decided to try something different and went with the blueberry cheesecake. I love coming to this place because if you look at the pictures, this is what they define as "one scoop" obviously that's a lot. Also I want to point out that they give you a healthy sample size amount. I have been to other ice cream places and you barely get enough of a sample size to make a decision. Also I did a review on this place before. And I can't stress it enough I love that it's local and they are open late. That's great for a city where there's not much to do especially if your new or came from busy city.

There is a drive thru. That's amazing. The ice creams are pretty standard. We did not get to try any specialties like the shake or Boston but prices are reasonable and they offer soft serve banana splits - how great is that? Also mediums are huge. Great price and place.

The ice cream is truly like nothing else. The soft serve tastes like homemade ice cream, and I love the hot fudge sundae the best.

First thing our group noticed was how clean inside was! And being that it was lunch hour on a Thursday afternoon, quite busy and still tidy! BTW we also found the men's & women's bathrooms to be in tip-top cleanly shape, and in a restaurant, that says a lot! You can also see into the kitchen from the dining area and it too was swept, clean and stocked. There are high-tops, low tops and a few booths for any type of seating comfort you choose. Since it was "seat yourself" we chose a low top for our party of four. Fresh brewed iced tea and Pepsi's to start. We all ordered and waited perusing the table menus showing daily specials, happy hour specials (beer and wine) plus fish platters. Great options and something for everyone. Our friends ordered the classic cheeseburgers with fries, I had the grilled chicken melt and my hubby opted for breakfast, the pecan waffle and a side of bacon. Our friend's burgers came out picture perfect; fluffy bun, generous lettuce, tomato and onion and crispy hot fries. They said it was probably one of the best burgers in the area. My husband's pecan waffle was crisp but fluffy on the inside, not dry. There was a light powdered sugar dusting and an ample amount of pecans. The bacon was crisp, not greasy and nice long strips as if baked not fried. My chicken melt was delicious! Grilled chicken breast, bacon, tomato, Swiss cheese and a "special sauce" all toasted between crisp buttery rye bread. I opted for onion rings and they were stellar. You know, where the outside is crisp but the onion is cooked translucent so that when you bite the onion ring the onion doesn't slide out in one long run?!! Perfect!! Our service was exceptional and the food presentation was great. Kudos to the owners for the service and quality effort they have put into this establishment, it truly shows. This will most likely become our "go-to" local spot!! Next review will be the Coney chili dog!

The atmosphere alone makes it worth checking out. I've been twice now, and the first visit was so good that I brought friends back the second time. The first time, I had the white hot chicken special, which was crispy, flavorful, and really well done. I also got a coffee, which was solid. I would've ordered it again on my second visit, but they were out of espresso and only had decaf available. The food on the second visit was still good, just not quite as strong as the first time. The staff has been consistently friendly on both visits, which I appreciated. That said, there were a couple of service hiccups each time, our food was brought out without silverware, and when we were told there was a table ready outside, there wasn't anyone available to direct us to it, so we had to guess and hope we weren't taking the wrong table. Food timing can also be a bit slow, so it's worth planning ahead if you have somewhere to be afterward. Overall, it's a really enjoyable brunch spot with great views and a fun atmosphere, just with a few service details that could be smoothed out.

And I'm sure they expected it because they brought it to me already in a to go box. Lol. I also tried a drink called Papelon with Limon and it was amazing. Think ice tea mixed with tamarind juice with a hint of lemon. It was refreshing and sour at the same time. Ask for a side of ice to tame it down and it's perfection. The owner later came by to check on us and even recommended us to try putting some sauces on our meal which they had on the table. The pink one had a kick which really took my Pepiarepa to another level. I ended up taking a jar of Dulce de Lechosa home which was obviously homemade and looked delicious. We decided to get some snacks - we ordered two of the stuffed onion rings (onion ring stuffed with jalapeno cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon and scallions) and the grouper basket to share. Our food came out quickly with the onion rings first. I've never seen this before but imagine if a loaded potato skin and an onion ring had a baby. This is a small, informal shop open for breakfast and lunch. Business was robust Friday at noon. And I can see why. Sandwiches are affordable and very good. While I didn't have dessert, their homemade pies -- particularly key lime --look delish! Regarding my quandary: you can join others at their table or wait for your own. (It's up to you and them.) The waitress, a friendly hard working person takes your order and keeps tabs on everyone. You will not be neglected. The smell of subs on the griddle hits you when you walk in. 'I've got to have one of those,' I thought. So I went with their "World Famous Cuban" filled with unhealthy elements that I really like! T ordered a Reuben. Not what you'd get in NY's Katz's deli ... but good. Sandwiches come with a little container of potato salad, pasta salad or coleslaw. If anything, they could step up their game with sides. Pasta salad was little more than cold noodles. Potato salad was better, but needed oomph. And each plate is filled with Ruffles potato chips. The deli is a family affair. The owner's sister, visiting from Colorado, was working behind the counter. And their mom -a lovely woman!- helped out behind the register. If you're waiting for your check, don't bother. Simply go to the counter. Your ticket is already there. And rather than leave a tip on the table, put your cash in the kitty by the cashier. As said, protocol here is different than what I'm used to. Pros: breakfast food is available until 11am, they have all kinds of snacks, drinks, food - from burgers to nachos, quesadillas to grilled cheese. Cons: it's just a fast food spot, nothing super special about the food, the staff is half nice half stand off ish, the in house canned margaritas are just artificial lemonade. Out-of-the-way places that are unexpected treasures are my favorite places to find myself . For today's review, let me invite you to the unusual yet very ordinary locale that is Siesta Beach Sand Pavilion. First, we start with a word about Siesta Beach. It is an award-winning stop noted for its most define quartz sand in the country, if not the world. Add to a tremendous location Sarasota surrounding environment makes CSO a hotspot for beach, lovers, family, getaways, and people watching extraordinaire. A special note about Siesta Key Beach Drum Circle's that take place here at sunset Sunday nights. The sand pavilion serves up some unexpectedly good comfort foods. The main feature for me that I always plan to have whenever I'm in Sarasota is the blackened mahi-mahi sandwich. Fresh fish, great seasoning made to order perfect every time. The sandwich is served up on a great bun with lettuce, tomato and onion the condiments that you might care for are available at your request. There's nothing vin ordinaire about the sandwich they serve. Honorable mention besides the blackened fish sandwich are the chicken tenders and other great comfort foods. You also have a variety of great cold beer choices, and access to sheltered seating and washrooms to give yourself a well-deserved break from the sun for your time at Siesta Key Beach. The sand Pavilion is staffed by friendly, efficient staff that always seem to add a touch of local charm. The Santa pavilion at Siesta Key Beach is a bit off the beaten path away from the mainland, and can be very crowded about any given time that the weather might be nice enough for a stop at the beach. Take my word, it's worth it every time! Until next time...tk
