( Thursdays or Fridays) second Visit was scheduled for a Thursday. Got a call 15 mins BEFORE appt the stylist called off and asked if I could Come tomorrow instead . I agreed. Got There on Friday . Same stylist still didn't show up and more importantly this time I was not even down to be seen by anybody another mixup at the front desk I suppose so I was seen by a very nice stylist who did a great job on my hair and I was happy and actually hoping I could see her again instead of the person I was supposed to be with. I scheduled one more appointment with this first stylist only to be told. She had called off again and could not make it before. I finally decided I was gonna not come back to the salon. It's crazy to me that this salon was such a great reputation has let down a new client that way. I was really hoping for a good outcome and really wanted this to be my new spot but it looks like I'm still looking for another place to go. I'm sorry I didn't work out with this salon.

I was originally scheduled with Kat, but because she was sick she wasn't in on the day I was scheduled, and that's okay I'm usually flexible. So someone called me the day before asking if I wanted to 'reschedule with Kat or if I wanted to still do it today there's another stylist who is very experienced, is on the same level as Kat, and will do a really good job' so I said sure I can switch. I go in to my session yesterday and show her the same pictures I had sent Kat. The girl said in order to get the color i want we would need to lighten my hair and then tone it. So I said okay. About a quarter way through her lightening my hair I asked if it was a dye. She said it was bleach. I didn't know lightening hair was bleaching, but it makes sense and that's my fault for not clarifying. I figured she knew what she was doing so I continued on with it and didn't say anything. After like 4 hours we washed the bleach out and she put a toner in and my hair ended up being an orange/yellow. I was going for the complete opposite of that, like an ash brown kind of color. I couldn't even say anything about how much I didn't like it because I was there all day and just wanted to leave and didn't feel good about my hair. I go home. I look her up on Instagram and I find out she's an apprentice. I understand people need to practice and learn but I really wish whoever scheduled me would've been honest about the level she is on. The next morning I call back because I just can't walk around looking how I looked, especially since I am going to a wedding. I get it retoned by the same girl and yes it's better, but it still is not even close to what I was going for. Instead it's a little bit more closer to my original hair color just slightly darker. I feel like my hair is ruined from the bleach. It's so brittle. And I honestly feel like I could've done the exact same thing with a box dye from Walgreens and spent $15 rather than $245. I wish my hairstylist would have told me it would take multiple sessions to get to my color goal or just say she didn't know how to. Not giving 1 star because she at least was willing to try and fix it. And it's my own fault for not knowing she was going to bleach my hair. She was really sweet and I just feel bad that I didn't like it. I really wanted to.

The stylist held a conversation with my daughter, which is something that can be hit or miss when you take a kid to salon not specifically geared toward children. The interior was welcoming. Comfortable couches and chairs, magazines and kids books. Everything was bright and clean. As for the hair cut itself, it was exactly what we asked for. Albeit what we asked for was rather simple; a trim with some layers. A blow dry and style wasn't included but when you're looking for quick and cheap, that's not a deal breaker. A wash and cut was very fairly priced which is nice for the stylist because it leaves room for a better tip. Overall, my daughter likes her haircut, my wallet is happy, and I now have place a few blocks from where I live to take my kid for a quick service.

Thanks to a sheer act of spontaneity I finally made it happen and Penzone made the cut. I just happened to be scrolling through my Yelp app looking for salons nearby and Penzone jumped out at me because this location has been there forever. I've also had my hair cut at one of their other locations forever ago and when I looked at their availability, they had an appointment the very next day at 5pm. I didn't even care who the stylist was, I just needed it done. I arrived right on time, checked in, and grabbed a beverage while I waited. It wasn't long before I was greeted by my stylist, Sage. She was easy to talk to, listened to what I wanted, and gave good advice and direction when I was tempted to do something I wasn't planning on doing. I knew exactly what I wanted, as I was looking to get the same cut I did last summer. Your basic long bob, about collar bone length. We did the washing and cutting and drying and cutting again and I was out of there in about an hour and a half. I'm really pleased with it and enjoyed Sage's approach so I made an appointment to come back in a few months. The price point was cheaper than the place I used to go to and I was way more satisfied.
