YUMM!!!! So good. Had the blueberry crepes. So good. Every one at our table just loved their order. Waitress was nice and polite. I just finished the NJ Marathon so there were a lot of other finishers there and they were all able to be seated and the staff was just so friendly. Everyone was nice there and it seemed like a neighborhood place. Inviting and good. Only suggestion was to get more than one bathroom!! It's a teeny tiny place that was busy but luckily not crowded when I went - felt homey. You walk in and sit yourself down. We were immediately served coffee (which was okay, but then again I'll drink almost any coffee) as we sat. Our waitress didn't seem to be one for conversation, but she was very quick, courteous, and attentive. Always making the rounds for refills but wasn't hounding us, which I appreciated. The weekly (handwritten - cute) specials sounded so decadent and tempting, but I opted for the mushroom & cheese omelette while my boyfriend ordered regular french toast and eggs. The omelette was AWESOME. You can substitute for any cheese you want. Really filling. The french toast was great too - I personally prefer it thicker but the boyfriend wasn't complaining. Overall, the food and service were great. I love the small diner setting. CASH ONLY, but there's an ATM. It was a little pricey, seeing as I paid 6 bucks for a small glass of juice & refill and about 3 bucks for a pitiful amount of egg(s?) on the side. But this place still trumps the other diners in Red Bank if you're looking for breakfast. I'd definitely visit again. read more

Consistently inconsistent with the same piss poor food and service with no reason to change. I've gone to the in between for years now with the hopes that they will start to give a shit about the people who walk through the door and the second rate food they serve. Unbelievable!! Sat down and was asked to move to either side of a 6 top. We did but I grunted at having to even do this in a more than half empty place. Well, a worker overheard Our conversation and pretty much told us to leave!!!! With coffee being poured in front of us we left. She actually follows us out screaming about the $4.34 we owed for coffee!!! Screaming she would call police!!! I was trying to enjoy my breakfast this morning and it was RUDELY interrupted by the owner berating two gentleman at the counter over bringing a red bull in with them. If the red bull was such a big deal, pick it up and throw it in the trash!!! Then the cops came to take them out of the restaurant. Really?! Was all that necessary? WARNING: HORRIBLE SERVICE AND TREATMENT FROM THE MANAGERS. Came here to eat after working a nightshift at the hospital wanting to enjoy a nice breakfast with my girlfriend. Food was overpriced.. $12 for a greasy underdone omelette. After we ate our food and wanted to chit chat, we got told to go sit at the bar.. Moved to the bar area and got told 15 minutes later to leave because and I quote "you've been here for three hours you overstayed your welcome you need to leave." I have never gotten kicked out of an overpriced, outdated furniture, low class diner or any restaurant in my life! There were so many empty seats, it wasn't like we were loud and taking up room! We felt discriminated against. Bob you are horrible to your customers! You need a lesson on courtesy and customer service. Never coming here ever again. I would rather pay Perkins and IHOP $12 for an omelette. At least I know it will be good and I wouldn't get treated poorly there. read more

The waitress / owner had such a problem with us bringing a red bull in side that she harassed us even though my friend put it away inside his coat. Mind you we also ordered coffee with our breakfast so the whole no outside beverage thing is not applicable especially since they don't sell red bull there. She insisted on arguing with my friend to the point that we didn't want to eat our food . We were nothing but polite and couldn't even eat our food in peace so we decided not to eat. Cute, cozy, down-home seating and decor, very old school. Gourmet-type omelet and other breakfast options, as well as all the breakfast and lunch usuals. Prices are a buck or two higher for the more upscale options, which is fair, and are otherwise average. Friendly service (the NJ version of friendly, that is) but food can take a while on the crazed, crowded weekends. Much calmer and faster here during the week. Definitely worth a visit or two (though last time we were here the bacon was not the best... hope that was a one-time minus). read more

We were seated and it took 40 minutes before the waitress let us know our food still wasn't started. It wasn't anything complicated,just two omelets. We asked and she said it'd be a few before it got started and we waited this long so we should stay. We asked if we could just pay for the coffee and leave. We don't get it... this place was not good at all. The service was quick to take our order, but it took almost an hour for breakfast to finally show up. Granted it was Father's day but you think they would have been able to plan for a larger than normal crowd. People sit "family style" at many tables. You may be with four strangers at a table for six if you are a couple. Once the food arrived almost an hour after the order was given, it was substandard to say the least. I had a very simple two eggs over easy and a side of scrapple. The scrapple was overcooked, stale looking and tasting, cooked in way too much grease and was as though it had been pre-cooked and sitting. Maybe this place would be good on a slow day, but one definetley does NOT want to come when they are at the peak of their busy day or season. read more

Without a doubt, this is the best breakfast place in Red Bank! If you want a delicious breakfast crepe, you can go to Whipped Bites on Monmouth Street but for the regular breakfast fare, omlettes and such, this is the place. The specials are always... well.... My husband and I visit the Inbetween for breakfast about twice a month. It serves lunch and breakfast...but I think their breakfast is best. There is something to be said about an owner in the kitchen. He really cares about the food. There are always great specials using fresh seasonal local ingredients. The california omelet is often an option and is my favorite. It has a great old school casual diner atmosphere. They have a nice counter with lots of stools. Tables are often shared by multiple small parties. It is a very homey relaxed place. One thing to note, if you have a larger group (6 or more), you may have a decent wait...so be prepared. But this isn't the type of place to rush through anyway. Hang out, drink coffee and enjoy the company! read more

Despite some reviews to the contrary, staff was VERY friendly, I just didn't think the food was all that good. Everything just fell into category of "plain." Went for breakfast - bacon wasn't crisp + had lots of undercooked fat (the worst when eating bacon). Pancakes, sausage, and side of potatoes = ordinary and a bit bland. Had an excellent lunch here. My wife had the Rueben with fries. I had the eggs, home fries and toast with pork roll. Her sandwich was tasty and the fries were good. My eggs were cooked perfectly which was surprising since many places that serve breakfast and lunch together will over cook the eggs because the grill is heated for meat. The home fries were very much to my liking with just the right seasoning and no chunks of onion/peppers. I plan on returning. read more

OMG some of the best breakfast/brunch I've had. The food is solid totally delicious. The place is small but feels authentic. If you have a small party you will be seated at a table with other parties which for me wasn't a big deal. The wait can be long because the place is tiny but worth it. Staff is super friendly. Being that we were too hungry to make it all the way to Asbury Park without proper sustenance. We took a sharp detour in to Red Bank to give The In Between Cafe a shot. Lucky for us, our nose for food paid off instantly as we were welcomed by a ray of sunshine named Giney. After setting us up with a table we were handed off to our waitress Chrissy. To be perfectly honest. Our experience could have ended happily right there. A great host. A waitress with a beautiful smile and a piping hot pot of coffee. Lucky for us, that would not be the case. My "In Between Benedict" was so tasty and fresh. I could hardly stop myself from stuffing my face. Add to that the best home fries in the galaxy and I might have to consider adding an hour to my weekly breakfast destination. While In Between doesn't sit on Red Bank's main drag. Every week I get something different and it's always creative and delicious. I like the more sweet foods and my husband is more of the savory type and we are both equally satisfied with this place. This place is only open until 3, and they will literally start vacuuming while you are still eating even if it's before 3. Very rude... So, given all the above info, the fact that I come here at least once every two weeks says something.. The food here is great!!!!! They have new breakfast and lunch specials every week. I always get the IN BETWEEN BENEDICT- a spin on classic eggs benedict that has thick cut bacon, poached egg, tomato, and spinach topped with the most amazing hollandaise ever. The only problem is that the poached eggs are always too well done, so if you like runny yolks, make sure you tell them. My bf usually orders some kind of sandwich and we split both.. The PULLED PORK SANWICH is greatttttt!!! The rolls they use are soooo fresh and go with the sandwich veryyyy well.. They also melt cheese (mozzarella or provolone) on the pulled pork sandwich which is a great addition.. The fries are great, and always very crispy. Last week they had a special, a beef brisket sandwich. All I have to say is OMG. I got back from Savannah GA recently, so as you may guess, I had quite a bit of BBQ, and this brisket might have been better than anything I tasted in the south. read more
