my go-to breakfast spot in red bank. everytime we go we are immediately seated. their food is fresh & there is something for everyone. don't expect fancy coffee, this is a basic breakfast spot with some great drip coffee.

We first tried TIC many years ago and use to go fairly often but somehow drifted away probably because of parking issues in Red Bank. They do a reasonable job on breakfast with fairly large portions of decent quality food that is a little pricy at times. Down home feeling with quick service as their hallmark, this Red Bank eatery is an institution that will be there for a long time to come...

$2.50 for hot water with lemon. $1.90 for a side of hot sauce. (2HD = 2 hot drinks a.k.a. the lemon hot water and coffee).

I used to come here all the time, not minding the service that left much to be desired... not bringing water unless you asked, kinda not being attentive, making comments like "you can't charge your device here" (I happened to had bring a portable charger), not allowing you to spread out in a table (in case it fills up... even though it's 2pm and the whole restaurant is empty.) because it had this homey feel, because I loved the food, because the people were nice (even though their social graces were pretty nonexistent). But this was the final straw. Charged $2.50 for a hot water with a piece of lemon, and $1.90 for the Frank's hot sauce that I poured over my omelette. Attached receipt.

Ah, The Inbetween Cafe, I love you so! Another local haunt that I would frequent quite often. The food here is incredible! I am a huge breakfast / brunch fan and this is the place to go. They always have amazing specials from omelettes to crepes to french toast, there is something for everyone on the special menu. If you are looking for something a little more typical, they have that too. The Inbetween makes an excellent pork roll sandwich and their home fries are perfection - add a little Frank's hot sauce and you are ready to go. I usually lean towards their crepe special. This time around I had a fresh blueberry crepe with homemade granola and yogurt. It was amazing as usual! They always top the crepe with caramelized sugar, so just be warned in case you aren't into something that sweet. The place is small, cash only, and the tables are communal so if you go on the weekend be prepared for a packed restaurant. On the weekends I'll usually sit at the "bar" area, but be warned if you sit by the sink / dish washing station, you may be splashed. Also, I've had different experiences based on the server I get, but in the end, the food is always top notch so it doesn't really matter. If you can stop by on a weekday I'd recommend it, but if not, the food is always worth the wait! I miss living in the area and stopping by the Inbetween regularly.

We were exploring the area and discovered this place. There's street parking and pay-per-parking…read morelots nearby so nothing dedicated but it is in a relatively high pedestrian traffic area. It was larger than I expected and a little overwhelming. There seemed to be only one person working on Labor Day (or that was the case when we were there in the afternoon) and two cash registers. The one on the right appeared to be for drinks and ice cream, the one straight ahead for donuts. She was always helping out people with ice cream and we headed towards the back where there was a substantial display of donuts. They have plenty of tables and chairs plus outdoor seating so good for parties of all sizes. They do have gluten free and vegan donuts, but their donuts are NOT both vegan and gluten free which meant one of my kids could not partake. There is A LOT to choose from but we ended up getting: CRUMBLE ME APPLE: light and not too sweet. The crumble gave a nice textural contrast, the donut was good, and it was filled with a tart apple filling that I thought really made it delicious. There was also a sticky caramel (?) drizzle but it was very light and melded with everything else. Excellent donut choice. CINNAMON & SUGAR KRONUT: I asked for recommendations because I couldn't decide and the girl recommended a kronut. I've had my share of cronuts/kronuts (croissant donuts) but am always open to trying more variations. This donut was large, light, and had decent lamination. I didn't find it too greasy, sweet, or heavy and I actually really enjoyed it! ARE YOU CEREAL?: my daughter picked this. She really liked it and said it was "amazing". I didn't taste it but it definitely looks sweeter than the ones I chose for the adults. At least she likes it? Donuts were $4.75 each so it adds up fast, but the ones I tasted were quite good! They have restrooms in the back but you need to request a key to access them. You have to be a customer. They were out of toilet paper and paper towels but they do have a hand dryer. The only downside is they aren't very clean. Tables looked okay though it was highly dependent on the table, but floors were sticky. Not sure if we came at the wrong time or they were just understaffed. The girl working at the time was really nice and sweet so no issues with service itself. Overall, a great place to get donuts that taste good and aren't too sweet (depending on what you get). I'm glad we came across this place!

Pros: I loved the open view kitchen into the seating area…read moredesign. It makes the experience personable not to mention you can see how organized and clean the kitchen is. I received friendly and lighthearted service from the man who took my order. One thing that I thought was pretty cool and have never seen before was a "color wheel" for coffee. It was a visual way to show your preferences on what your preferences are on coffee appearance once the milk is added. My chicken salad sandwich was delicious, not too filling and made on very soft enjoyable bread. Room for improvement: Maybe because I stopped in at 1 pm on a Wednesday I felt like the seating area was poorly maintained. The floor really needed to be swept so it actually felt like of dirty sitting there eatting. There were a handful of people spread out with their laptops etc. One person was actively taking a call so it felt like you at work with them. Another had a small dog that she was carrying around people eatting while the leash/harness laid on the floor near her table. I'm all for dogs being allowed to be in eateries but the whole sit in experience felt dirty for me (especially based on the price I paid) and wouldn't be something I'd repeat. Long story short, the customer service while ordering is great but take your order to go.
