I was in the area picking up sushi and saw the signboard out front of Monsoon advertising 20% off all take out orders. I walked in and spoke to the owner about the lunch special and the 20% off take out orders. I told him I would try it next week as I had not been here before and thought it was a good deal for lunch. With the COVID dine in restrictions still in place, take out is the only option as this establishment has no outdoor seating. Today I ordered the $12.95 lunch special with the butter chicken option over the phone. The food was ready when I arrived. And as they brought out the bill, I noted that they had not taken the 20% off. I enquired on this and they advised that the 20% off all take out orders did not include the lunch special. I smiled, paid and left with my butter chicken. The presentation and quantity of food was okay. I liked the pakora's and thought they were the best of the lunch. Unfortunately the butter chicken was not good...it was way to sweet and had very little flavour. With the deceptive advertising and poor taste of the food, it was not a positive food experience and I can not recommend Monsoon.

An unexpecting day led us to Cambie Village around lunch time and Indian fare was calling both of ours names. Monsoon is pretty new, very clean and shiny on the inside. I ordered their veg lunch combo ($12) of Palak kofta and vegetable korma, it came with rice, naan, salad and pakora. My partner ordered the non veg lunch combo ($13) of Palak kofta and butter chicken and a mango lassi. I honestly loved everything on my plate, the pakora was fried to perfection, the curries were tasty. I thought the portion was quite large and even had trouble finishing in one sitting. It could be a great order/pick up option to save half for later. The lunch special is from 11:30-3pm, and meals are very bang for your buck. Service was great, Amnon looked after us and she was so friendly and attentive! They offer free delivery within 5km. It could be dangerous if I lived closer.

Looks like the former Soho (bubble tea shop) has now been converted to this tasty Indian establishment. Parking is available along Cambie (the section to the S isn't metered) as well as the side streets. The interior looks pretty unchanged compared to Soho. Nothing wrong with that. Staff were friendly and helpful. No complaints. The food here is pretty solid. Portion size is pretty typical. Buddy and I asked for extra spicy everything, but the spiciness of the dishes were maybe medium. Guess they didn't want to kill us the first time around. Chicken jalfrezi - nice chunks of meat. Pretty good. Butter prawns - 7 nice large prawns in the dish. Plenty of butter sauce. Chef special lamb - this one had quite a bit of mint in the sauce. Not a bad thing at all, but just a heads up. I have to admit I was kind of thinking about toothpaste while eating this thing. Decent portion of meat chunks. Meat was a bit dry though. The garlic naan here is good, but for some reason I really liked the laccha paratha (wrinkly folded flatbread). Nice and moist but not too greasy. If I were to pick between these 2 items, I would pick the paratha. Great for mopping up the bowls too. Definitely will be back at some point. Recommended.

We went to this place for lunch. The restaurant was pretty empty and we were seated immediately. We ended up getting the chilli chicken as a starter followed by chicken Tikka masala, veg jalferazi , butter and garlic naan. The food was delicious and the portions were massive. Even after three people sharing the food, we had leftovers. The restaurant was a little strange as there were people coming in for to-go orders but the actual restaurant was completely empty during the two hours that we were there. I would say if you are in the area, do check it out

Didn't know what kind of food to expect when i walked in but was pleasantly surprised.. First off, the restaurant has a nice ambience and comfortable seating. The location is easy to find and parking wasn't as tedious as had originally expected.. The staff was very attentive and kind, we were a party of six and they were helpful and kind throughout. We ordered a lot of items including Monsoon Appetizer Platter, Lots os Naan, Tandoori Roti, Keema Naan, Palak Paneer, Dal Makhani, Bhindi and more... All the items were very well made and tasty. We also ordered wine and drinks which blended well with the food There is a lot of other tasty items on their menu that am looking forward to trying again. Most definitely coming back here... such a nice staff ..

It was my first time having it and the savoury flavor profile was so intriguing. The mango shake was solid and good for cutting the spice of the dishes we got. Appetizers - chicken 65 was solid, hot and crispy and I loved the three sauces that came with it. The chicken samosa was also the perfect size and had a good amount of filling while keeping the crunch. Dosas - wow, the best in town! And so filling! The butter chicken dosa shocked me in terms of size and weight. The spinach masala dosa was also huge and I loved the thin crepe filled with spiced potatoes. Star of the show for sure! Mains - the biryani was also delicious as a rice dish and very filling. It went nicely with the veggie pakora, which was packed with crunch and spice. Overall amazing meal. Manpreet was also super kind and provided excellent service. Can't wait to come back to try more dosas - the menu is very extensive!!

Definitely, the sambar and chutney need some flavor, at least salt. The positive points I have given in this review are only for the dosa. Sorry to say, but the insane amount of time you take to serve your customers needs to improve. We waited close to an hour. Not kidding. I don't think anybody would want to come back again if this is how it is. This happened three times with us. Sorry, we won't be going back here again for this sole reason.

Nonetheless, service was quick, and our server was attentive. We started with a Mango Lassi and their Chennai Chicken 65 before moving on to their Paneer Butter Masala and Rajastani Lamb Masala. Of course, we also had to follow up with their Onion & Cilantro Naan! Our Mango Lassi tasted as expected and was smooth, soft, and delicate. That Chennai Chicken 65 was an amazing start to our meal, excellent seasoned and enough for three finger-lickin' tenders each! The onion & cilantro naan was tasty, though the toppings were easily masked by our curry and paneer. While both were only mild, they were both very tasty. I've had quite a bit of Indian food down in LA, and this easily ranks as one of the best dining experience for Indian food that I've ever tried. What surprised me most was that although it was on the darker side with the dark wood, it felt a little classed up with the coat hangers and interior decor. Perhaps it was the afternoon vibes, but somehow the atmosphere was gentle, relaxing, smooth - not quick or rushed at all. (The only rush was me constantly checking my phone in hopes of not missing my flight the next hour... what a mission!) 10/10 - would dine again!

We were seated by the front, but looking deeper into the restaurant I liked the darker colour tones and wall accents. We tried shared our Dine-Out meals: - Sarson Ke Phool: Good. Broccoli and cauliflower were way more softer than expected, but nice flavours. - Chicken Kondattam: Very good. Still a bit crispy and loved the spices. - Raw Mango Bhel: Good. I really like the flavours and textures in this dish. Just wished it didn't get soggy so fast. - Hyderabadi Murgh: Good. Just a great dish to go with the rice. - Khurmani Kofta: I didn't enjoy this one. I've never had this dish before, but tasted more like a dessert. Maybe something I'm not accustomed to. - Ginger Lamb Biryani: Good. Well made and very fragrant. - Rose Pistachio Tres Leches: OK. It was fine. Not too sweet, but nothing outstanding. - Classic Coconut Payasam: Good. Very simple but comforting. Service was pleasant. No issues came up. Overall, a good meal. I enjoyed most of the dishes, and felt it reasonably priced. I'd consider coming back

We came here on a Monday afternoon around 6:30 and it wasn't too crowded. There isn't that much seating inside, just 5-6 booths that fit up to 4 people each. They've removed all the regular table seating inside for social distancing purposes. The menu is quite extensive, with plenty of appetizer and entree options to choose from. I love that you can also customize your own dosa, which I've never seen before. We shared: Vada ($6.25) - the vada was fried well and was the perfect crispiness on the skin. Went well with the sambar and various chutneys Vegetarian kothu paratha ($11.99) - this was my first time trying this dish, but it was a little bit too spicy for me. Essentially they take paratha, cut it up to small bits, and fry it with vegetables (or a protein of your choice). Was an interesting dish to see on the menu, and my other friends who can handle spice all enjoyed it Chicken biryani ($13.99) - my personal favorite dish of the night. The chicken was tender and the rest of the rice very flavorful. I wanted more of this! Masala dosa ($9.99) - pretty standard as far as dosas go
