I've never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast before so I have nothing to compare. The exterior and interior are beautiful. The room was good sized. My experience staying at the end at the Inn at 97 Winder was absolutely incredible. The staff was so welcoming and accommodating. I felt like I was talking to family. There was a gigantic kitchen with a huge fridge and a shared dining space with others in the building. Usually, I don't like eating with others on vacation however I felt like I was once again eating with family. I love the historic touches that are in the home and it reminded me of my childhood. The room was beautiful and clean. I have to say that the showers were gigantic and the water pressure was absolutely amazing. Now unfortunately, I do have some cons and it's not associated with my stay at all. It actually has to do with parking! The parking was only $28. However, the parking attendant did give us kind of a hard time when it came to parking. The staff worked well to help me with my needs during that situation which was out of their control. I highly suggest if you are in the Detroit area and you are attending events at Little Caesars Arena, Ford Field, or the Tiger Stadium this is a perfect location to stay for the night if you're coming in town or visiting from Windsor. Unfortunately, I do have one other con and I was thinking about it as I was walking up the stairs. If you are someone who is wheelchair bound or requires a cane this may not be the best location for your stay as I didn't see any areas with the ramps and a lot of of the rooms. In fact all the rooms are on a second story via stairs with no elevator access. read more

Rudest hotel staff or maybe any service staff I've ever encountered. Broken blinds, no heating. Arcane and kafkaesque checkin process. The groom of the wedding we were here to attend tried to check in under their very strict and difficult process and was trespassed off the property after paying for two nights of the most expensive room in the building because the inn staff cannot read emails. I can't stress enough just how horrible, incredibly mean and inflexible the staff is. Do not stay here under any circumstances. read more

Decided to stay in Detroit for the night, had an event at the colony club and this place was close. It's something different compared to your typical hotel. We were able to snatch free parking so that was nice. This house is so cool and historic. It was really nice learning a bit more about Detroits history. It seems that the staircase is original, super noisy! But to be expected. Room and bathroom is a nice size! My only complaint is that the shower is such a waste of space with that little shower head! Shower head needs to be replaced to a bigger one for sure. Breakfast was nice and intimate. Can be awkward though haha. Kitchen smells super clean. Super strong cleaning aisle kind of thing. This is a lovely boutique hotel near the sports arenas. It appears to be a house from the late 19th/early 20th century. The rooms are quite spacious. The kitchen is huge and our stay came with a nice continental breakfast. The staff was extremely friendly. Several of the light fixtures did not work in our room and the blinds on the one of the windows had fallen down. Fortunately, the windows also had curtains, so we still had our privacy. There are a lot of places nearby that you can walk to or a very short drive. read more

Booked my reservation in May of 2024 for the Bills/Detroit game, received several confirmations that my booking was confirmed. Day before my trip, hotel called to inform my room was cancelled ( I did not cancel). Booked room through Expedia, Expedia blamed hotel and hotel blamed Expedia. Hotel claimed my card was no good, yet I have never had issues with my credit and was using the same card that day that I booked with. Overall, when I inquired to book directly through hotel they stated I would have to book at twice the cost. Sham and extortion for more money on a busy weekend. read more

Truly a beautiful building, very lovingly restored. I adore old architecture and history, so this place fit the bill when I came to Detroit for a one-night stay. The good: Gorgeous! Stunning inside and out, they truly did a great job with this gorgeous old home. I felt I should put on a sweeping dressing gown and glide around. My room was lovely and the bed was pretty comfortable, the jetted tub was nice. FYI, the water in Detroit is so heavily chlorinated that it smells like a pool when you turn it on. I refused to wash my hair in it. The bad: I had to call to be let in the front door, but I wrote it off as being in Detroit. The "front desk" lady (it's not really a front desk like a typical hotel) asked me, a single female, if I was staying the night alone, which set off a lot of red flags and alarm bells in my head. You cannot control the temperature in your room, which is unfortunate but I'm sure a product of staying in a very old historic home. The room door keys are literal keys, which is charming, and there is no other locking mechanism on the inside of your door. When I unlocked my door, the key inside the lock just spun in circles, leaving me with no confidence that it was actually locked. I had to pay $25 extra to park in a "secured lot" and was issued a remote to open the gate. But the gate was never actually closed, even overnight, so there was no point in paying for the secured lot as it was never secured. I did not try the breakfast so idk how it compares to other peoples reviews. Check out was super easy. I think it was overpriced for what you got. read more

What you see isn't necessarily what you get. We flew in from Boston to enjoy a long weekend in Detroit, and we're impressed by the location and luxury boutique feel that The Inn on 97 Winder offered. Excited for our stay, you can imagine how disappointed we were to get to our room and see that it was nothing like what is represented on their website or on Orbitz. And on top of that, the room smelled, the rug was leave-your-shoes-on dirty, the toilet seat was broken...we did not experience luxury at all. We expected Gilded Age ambience, but got Austin Powers instead. Confusing, right? In the end, we paid for a four-star, luxury experience that doesn't exist here. At least not in every room. Mid-December, snow flurries, low 20s outside and the heat in room 23 wasn't working!!! Couple that with a thin blanket and bedsheet, and I slept on that firm mattress uncomfortable, cold, wrapped like a mummy. The people who work there are polite, but saying "I hope you come and stay with us again" to myself and other guests who also complained about the temperature of their rooms is not good enough. No need to share any other positives, because who wants to stay in cold Detroit at a hotel with in room heating problems? read more

The Inn at 97 Winder is lovely. The pictures are spot on & the mansion is immaculate. Nonetheless, there were a few "off" details that we encountered during our stay. First was the expired wine. The inn hosts a nightly reception from 5-8. Cheese cubes, mini sausages, crackers, a few sweets, & wine are laid out in the kitchen for guests to help themselves. The incredibly odd thing was that each & every single one of the bottles of wine (5 perhaps?) were old & far past their prime. You know, Chardonnay that has turned a brassy bright yellow, Cabernet with gritty sediment from too many years of sitting, all with a sweet-sour taste? My husband & I had sips from 3 of the bottles & realized our attempts at finding a "good" one was futile. It was bizarre & somewhat comical. The second strange thing was breakfast. The inn's brochure mentions "a full gourmet breakfast" but, at best, it's a self-serve continental. Think pastries, microwaveable packets of oatmeal, Pop Tarts, & a tray of cut fruit. This was quite disappointing for an inn of this caliber. This being said, the home is well-kept, clean, & has great charm. Our room was both comfortable & elegant. This could easily be a 5* B&B with just a few simple tweaks. read more

We stayed here as part of a staycation/anniversary weekend. We were using part of a Hotels.com reward, so the price was drastically reduced from what we would have otherwise paid (if we'd paid full price, one star might have been on the table). The best feature is that this place is absolutely gorgeous- the furniture and fixtures are elegant. However, they were (presumably) having some of the rugs cleaned, so they had left just some unsightly rug pads in the upstairs hallways. Additionally, much of the furniture in our room was chosen with an eye for appearance but didn't have the necessary functionality- for instance, I wanted to hang a dress up so that it didn't wrinkle before our anniversary dinner. The wardrobe provided (there was no regular closet) had no space for that. The curtains also didn't block light, in an area of the city that's very brightly lit, and the bed had only a very light coverlet at a time of year when nights were still cold. Also we paid extra for a jetted tub room, and then were met by a sign in the bathroom that we couldn't fill it from the tap and needed to use the wand to fill, a process that took so long that we only ended up with time for a short bath. The shower had a lot of fancy features but no explanation of how to use them, so it ended up a struggle just to take a regular shower. The spa services: we really enjoyed our hot stone massages once we got them BUT the scheduling was a nightmare. I initially contacted them via email and got conflicting information about when they could schedule. Eventually they claim to have called and asked if I could move my appointment to a later time (that would have conflicted with a dinner reservation). I confirmed for the original time but when we got there they told us that the massage therapists were coming at the later time. We had to re-book for the next day, a stressful process that ate into our already-brief relaxation time (hence the staycation). Additionally, the other reviews are right about breakfast; it's nothing special. There are a lot of great brunch detain Detroit and I'd rather have just stayed someplace more affordable and spent the money on real food instead of packaged pastries and Keurig coffee. Overall, there are a lot of other establishments in Detroit. No need to stay someplace overpriced with poor amenities. read more

So much noise. I get this is an old house but seriously it's so loud I didn't sleep. Between the water running in the room above us, the loud stairs and the annoying alarm beeping every time a door opened I almost lost it at 4 am, after hours of tossing and turning. You can hear EVERYTHING. That's not relaxing. For my birthday my husband surprised me with tickets to see the Wings and a night here. He told me as we drove away how much the room was and I almost turned around to get our money back. What a load of crap. Our room was freezing and smelled. Our toilet ran non-stop. The room was cramped and the bathroom, although large, had only a plastic shelf (that looked like it cost $10 at a garage sale and almost fell over 2x) to store things on while trying to get ready for bed. The breakfast consisted of empty coffee containers, some cream cheese and a bag of waffle mix. We had to ring a doorbell to get into the building because the key fob didn't work anywhere. The 3 employees we talked to were all awkward. It was all awkward. The location is fantastic but we won't be back and I do not recommend this place. Save the $$ and go some place else. Stayed here September 10 -12. The staff, while friendly, is poorly trained and room maintenance and service are very sub-par. Here's an abreviated chronology explaining my review and why we will never book this property again: Tuesday, September 10 Room thermostat temperature (66 degrees) was too cold. AC control locked. Staff member unlocked the AC control and raised the thermostat to 68 degrees as we requested. No guest should be at the mercy of a thermostat they cannot set or, worse, a thermostat set to accommodate a guest in another room.) Battery died that evening and staff did not know how to change it. The night manager gave us a swamp fan which failed after about an hour of loud chattering noises. The antique armoire is the only place to store clothing, Two outside doors, which had shelving, were wedged shut and there was no skeleton key in the room to open them. Only one hanger in the center section of the armoire. Two of the four bulbs in the lighting fixture over the sink in the bathroom were burned out. One bedside lamp was not plugged in because the cord was not long enough to reach the nearest outlet, which is behind the bed. The filter in bathroom sink tap was partially clogged, so water sprayed in all directions. Wednesday, September 11 Had to ask to have our room serviced when we went out in the morning. When we returned in the afternoon, we found that our bed has been made, but all our dirty towels were still on the floor of the bathroom with no replacements left. We then called down to the Front Desk and a staffer brought us bath towels, but didn't bring a bath mat, hand towels or wash cloths. Subsequently, my spouse went downstairs to get the staffer to get us the missing items. read more

It is a beautiful old mansion. That is the only reason I am giving it two stars. They have a strict check in policy of checking in between 4 and 8. There is a $75 charge to check in after 8 PM. Huh? There is also a $250 security deposit that we were not informed about until I received a text message from the hotel the day we were to arrive. We booked this hotel through a package on Expedia that included free parking. The girl who checked us in basically said "that is not a thing". Thankfully we found a spot on the street in front of the hotel. Their website talks about enhanced safety measures for the staff, such as protective screens at the check-in desk and masks for the staff. Neither one was the case. When we got to our room, we were appalled at the condition. The bathroom floor was sticky and there was hair on the floor. The travel size shampoo had been used and not replaced. Someone had clipped their toenails, and they were on the floor beside the bed. The top of the headboard have a layer of dust. When we turned down the sheets, they were wrinkled and there was human hair in the bed. The room had the appearance of being used and not cleaned. The person at the desk was able to move us to a room next-door. She informed us that someone would be there to clean our room by 7 AM. The room we were moved to was clean, however, there was a nail sticking out of the floor that we could've easily cut our foot on. The next morning, we received a text message informing us that we needed to check out as if we were leaving and then "re-check in" at 4 PM. We asked if it was possible for us to just stay in the room they had moved us to, and we were informed that someone else had already booked that room and that we could stay there for $100 extra per night. The girl working the desk in the morning was also unmasked. She almost seemed offended and assured us that our original room had been cleaned. My wife offered to go show her and she said that she is not allowed to go up to a room with guests. My wife then said for her to go look for herself, and she said she didn't need to because she assures us it was cleaned. She offered to hold our bags until we returned at 4 PM. As we were getting in our car, we decided to stay somewhere else. The doorbell does not work, so you have to call to get back in. It took five phone calls for the girl to answer and let me in. As we were going about our day, my wife tried to call the hotel multiple times and got no answer. It appears that whatever it says on their website about safety measures, enhanced cleaning and sanitation and staff training either didn't happen, or the staff simply does not care. This was on Monday. We are still waiting to hear back from Expedia to see whether or not the hotel is going to charge us for the rest of our stay. All in all, this was a horrible experience and we will never stay here again. Neither one of the young ladies we dealt with at the desk apologized, in fact, it almost seemed like we were bothering them. This place also does not have an elevator which I thought was required through the Americans with disabilities act. read more

Instead of contacting me, offering me an additional room, or at least a refund, I was given the keys to a room with one bed and was told that's all that could be done. Of course I call Booking.com and the property was obligated to give me a refund. It's a real shame. It was a beautiful place but the manager had no empathy for my situation. Worst experience ever! We called ahead to let them know our flight was arriving around 10pm and we would be there directly afterwards. We arrived around 10:30 rang the Ring doorbell, called and texted the numbers provided on the door for over an hour in the wind and rain with no response. Finally we had to try to find a new place to stay and take an Uber to get there. Finally we got a call back at 1230 in the morning from 2 different employees. One saying she left early and another saying she left late. Don't waste your time and money trying to stay at a place where employees make their own out and don't care about their guests. read more

While the front desk girl was very sweet the room was dirty stains on the carpet there was hair on the bed the black out curtains were stapled open and I haven't even got to the bad part. I was told that there would be no one there after 11pm and the front door will be locked but there's a back door you can enter with a key fob so when I went to dinner and the Casino till 1:20 am I assumed I'd be able to enter my hotel. Well I found myself locked out banging on the door for 45min and no one answered. I called and no one answered that either and I couldn't leave a message so all my stuff was in my room and I couldn't get in.....thank god for Hotels.com for making it right they got me set up at a nearby hotel for free. Went back in the morning to get my stuff and they still had no idea I was locked out or that anything had happened even though there's cameras everywhere. I noticed when I was at the front door banging that the night shift must have taken the ring doorbell camera with her when she left which was confusing. Anyways it's a pretty place but I would steer clear!!!! All they front desk said was I'm sorry we'll tell the owner. But I've never had a worse stay. read more

I like the location to walk to the Fisher Theatre. The bed was comfortable, and the Inn was clean. It would have been a bonus to have a mini fridge and microwave in our room, because we had brought dinner back to the Inn and had left overs. There was frig in the main level but we were on the 3 floor without an elevator. I am keeping my review kind of low because I didn't get a restful night sleep, unfortunately we could hear what we thought might be the furnace or broiler humming thru the vent in the bathroom all night. We ended up leaving very early because I could not sleep and it wasn't relaxing for me. read more

Let down. We don't get out of town much with three kids, infact, this was our only time to do so this year. We were in town for a ball game and concert and I chose the hotel both for how beautiful it looked, and the location. We stayed in room 33. First, our bed was not comfortable at all. It was very soft, and seemed to sag in the middle. Also, there was a fuzzy blue pillow on it that smelled...well, sort of like...urine. It was gross. One of the lights over the purple couch was burned out. The rug, while it was an abstract design to look like it had paint drops on it, had numerous other stains, and it also looked shoddy. The bathroom was nice, but there was a long, gross hair on the shower controls. For the amount of money that's charged per room, I wouldn't expect to encounter ANY of these things in a hotel or B&B. The first day we stayed, cucumber lemon water was offered. The second day it was not, and I asked the girl at the front if it would be. She said, well, "I guess I can make some, but we don't really do that everyday unless its hot." To me, again, if I am paying upwards of 300 bucks for a room, and I ask an employee to accommodate, he or she should. Also, breakfast was non-existent. Not much of anything to choose from, sans some overripe bananas and small apples. On our second day, as we left the hotel for our day out, we came down the stairs of the rear of the building and immediately encountered the parking lot attendant. The company is EZ Park, theyre all over Detroit. He said something to the effect of, "theyre here" and pointed to a car running and sitting in the lot. I said, "We aren't waiting for a car." and proceeded to keep going, and he flew up the stairs and starting asking us for our keys. I have very little patience for rude people. This was no exception. This man yelled at both my husband and I, demanding we move our vehicle and give him our keys. To which, we both refused to do. He tried to intimidate both of us, saying he would tell the hotel to charge us double if we did not move or give him our keys. I chewed him out. He got right in my face, violated my personal space, and I had to tell him he better back up, or I would have to call the police. After that, he yelled at my husband to "Tell your woman to get in line and stop yelling." I went inside to tell tell the staff that this man was totally unacceptable and I wanted either them to deal with him or Id be calling 911. He would not stop harassing us. The woman at the front desk called someone, apparently and I was told that "the manager will be talking with his manager". This was TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. We already paid 25 bucks to park. Not to mention, this "parking company" also parked a car in front of us. So had we wanted to drive anywhere that day, we'd be stuck in the lot, and have to deal with this man hellbent on ripping people off and threatening hotel guests. For all of these reasons, especially this parking scenario, I am totally disappointed in our stay. I wanted to love this place, and we won't ever come back. They really need to address the parking lot issue. We watched similar interactions out of our window that day-most people WERE intimidated by this "man" and forked over money and their keys. He was totally out to make an extra 25 bucks or whatever he charges that day, by having us squeeze our vehicle in to accommodate another. Totally unreasonable and very, very rude. We didn't feel comfortable leaving our vehicle there after that. We were coming back from our day to check on things. We saw him and another attendant just sitting in a vehicle that wasn't even theirs for nearly 20 minutes before they actually moved it. I also felt the staff didn't take the issue seriously. I also brought this up to the male attendant on at night and he was like, yeah, that parking staff is a pain and basically shrugged it off like it was nothing. Again, wanted to love you guys, but I can't. This but a damper on our stay, and also, again, Id expect more hospitatlity and cleanliness-and upkeep of the rooms. I hope you make changes-we talked to another set of guests who felt similar and said they would never return. read more

Could not have been more disappointed. Every year for our anniversary we travel to see the Detroit Tigers play no matter where they are. This year they were in Detroit so we wanted to make it extra special being that we were close to home. We decided to stay here for our 15th wedding anniversary and now regret it. The staff was very cold and not warm and friendly. Nobody asked why we were there or if we were celebrating anything special, even though I mentioned it when booking the reservation. You can't control the temperature in your room, absolutely no ice for drinks, furniture so old that you can't sit on it (there's even a sign that says don't sit on furniture), we woke up the next morning to no power. I had to use a special plug-in for our truck to fire up my curling iron so I could have my hair done for our anniversary. Power finally came back on around six or 7 PM. Woke up the next morning, no power again. We were told we had to check out by 2 o'clock. We were charged two full nights stay with zero discount. We paid nearly $700 for an awful experience. They said the power outage wasn't their fault and there's nothing they could do about it. WRONG ANSWER! I worked and taught in the hospitality industry for 20+ years. I definitely would never recommend this place to anyone. It doesn't even deserve a 1 star. Do not give them your business!!! read more

This place is unique and it is definitely a beautiful old building, but there are some odd things going on that would prevent me from recommending or going back. First of all, I booked through booking.com and was charged the full amount for the room (about $380) two weeks before my stay which I thought was unusual. But, no big deal. Then the day of they claimed they didn't have my reservation, but eventually they found it and all worked out. I was staying downtown with my cousin for a much needed "mom's night out," and though this bed and breakfast is pricey, we jumped in for location and something different. When we returned to the Inn about midnight we called down to ask for some extra towels for showers in the morning as seriously only one large towel was provided. There are no phones in these rooms, so you have to call on cell to the main line. We were told by the attendant that it would be one hour before she could bring us towels. Or, we could come down and get them ourselves. Well, for almost $400 a night and a place with only ten rooms, we were thinking we should be able to get some towels so we went down. There was no one at the desk, but some other guests sitting in the main dining room. We waited and eventually the attendant returned and very rudely told us that the towels were in the wash and we could either wait the hour or "take them wet." OK, I don't know about you, but I don't need a wet bath towel. Plus now we are thinking why would she talk to us this way and in front of other guests?? Incredibly uncomfortable and now I didn't even want to sleep here. Creepy vibe. Also the phone was ringing all night, I could actually hear it from the room, and it was supposedly people coming and going. I don't know. Overall an odd experience and a shame because the place has potential and is beautiful. read more

Worst stay I have ever had at such an expensive place. Ruined what was supposed to have been a 32nd anniversary retreat for my husband and me. My first bad surprise was trying to get in the locked front door. I rang the doorbell, continually. Nothing happened for quite a while. A phone number was posted on the door, and as I was about to try that the door finally opened. I was greeted by Denise. When she saw that I was dialing, she informed me their phone system didn't work. Their doorbell system had barely worked! I had booked the premium queen room online because the website said it came with a two-person jacuzzi. My second bad surprise: our room only had a shower. When I questioned Denise about this, she told me there was only one room in the whole inn with a tub, and, unfortunately, it was not the one I had reserved. My third surprise: a mandatory $250 security deposit. This was described NOWHERE in the reservation disclaimer. I started to notice all the broken things in the room and wondered if I was going to be scammed out of my $250: The two chandeliers had burned out bulbs. The bathroom vanity had a bulb that was strobing violently; I had to unscrew it to avoid a migraine. The window blinds would not work properly. The floor was dirty. The bed had a broken-down mattress that was extremely uncomfortable. And the shower stall had a broken shower head that would not stay on the wall. This was not a "premium" room. The inn had a policy of no noise after 11:00pm. Surprise number four: ZERO enforcement. From midnight until 2:00am people thumped up and down the stairs, and along the hallways, opening closing doors, and talking and laughing very loudly. As the phone system wasn't working, there was no way to call management to complain. I did not sleep at all. The next morning, I wanted to voice my concerns in person. The office door had a sign on it that stated someone would be there at 7:00am. But at 8:00am the office was still locked and deserted. I couldn't speak to Denise. I couldn't call anyone, either. So I'm posting here. I would have rated this place zero stars, except it did have lovely main floor common areas. Two more complaints: The price I paid was much higher than it should have been. Queen rooms without the jacuzzi were $70 cheaper. And the secured parking lot to the inn costs $25 a day to use, which is mentioned nowhere on the website. We didn't use the lot. Stayed here because the images are incredible. Woodwork, stone, stained glass are all incredible! I was surprised to find the owners do not manage or reside at the property which is neither a plus or minus, but I've only stayed at B&Bs previously where the owners are very hospitable. This is run like a hotel in an old house. I learned from another guest there was complimentary bottled water in the frig. My room was on the third floor and is shown in the pics with metal canopy bed, fish is and orange silky bedspread and vaulted clgs. Bathroom was incredible. Upon entering room, I saw right away, the canopy bed and table lamp was on which called attention to the questionable stain on the dust ruffle from a liquid or sort. That made me very inconsiderate because it was so obvious, made me wonder how housekeeping missed it. I couldn't bring myself to sleep in direct content with the comforter for fear of the same, so I made sure the sheet was pulled up tight to me. I awoke repeatedly from being cold because the slippery comforter kept sliding off the bed. I gave up on it thinking that was probably the best, found no other bedclothes in the wardrobe, so fortunately I brought my winter bathrobe and wore that as a blanket. Because I checked in at night and left before daylight, light would have been valuable, but seven of the bulbs in my bedroom and bath were out! One lamp, one in the shower, five in the ceiling. Also thought housekeeping should pay a little closer attention. I skipped breakfast when I saw it, knowing the convention I was attending would have more than the toast, cold cereal, and instant oatmeal. I booked a room for my daughter & her new husband for their wedding night. When I made the reservation I told them they would be late arrivals. I called a week before and said they will be late arrivals - they will be there after their wedding. So the night of the wedding I happened to check my phone at about 9pm. I had four calls from the hotel. I called them and the lady said she needed to know what time they will be coming to the hotel. I said the wedding ends at 11pm, they were dancing at their wedding and I didn't want to bother them with this. I told lady on phone - they will be late, but they will be there. Now its midnight, husband and I are driving home to the burbs, the hotel lady calls again telling me that she has worked 12 hours and needs to go home and other worker didn't show. She wanted me to call bride to find out ETA. I tried but couldn't get in touch with anyone still at wedding. Lady from hotel calls me again and says Manager told her to say if they are not at hotel by 12:30am they can't come in. We turned around on freeway to try to make it back so the lady with the 12 hour shift could go home. (our problem now) I finally received call back from my son who Ubered to this place to hold the room for my daughter and new husband. DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE!!!! read more

What a beautiful place ! We had a wonderful stay for Valentine's Day ..... everyone was extremely helpful and attentive . So nice to have a choice besides the cookie cutter modern hotel . So unique , loved the decor . read more

This was a truly terrible experience. At $250 a night, I have at least SOME expectations. The room was COLD and the bathroom was even COLDER. To make matters worse, the shower water was warm at best. Breakfast isn't even worth mentioning. Certainly nothing hot. The noise was terrible. The receptionist person at the desk was talking/shouting on her phone until almost 3 AM. Everytime someone runs the water somewhere, it sounds like a train in your room. The bedding is terrible....and dirty. There is a thin sheet, then a duvee/comforter thing that they do NOT change between guests! We watched in the next room! We were booked for TWO nights, but couldn't take another night in that place. When we said we were leaving, we were told we could have asked for a space heater. Hard to do at 2 AM with no phone in the room....and no way to warm that bathroom safely with a space heater!! Location, location, location. Walk to all 3 stadiums and dozens of restaurants, and stay at one of the most beautiful old mansions in the city. The staff were over the top helpful and parking is included and 10 steps away, wow perfect night read more

I'd like to update my review because I did speak to the manager and he apologized for the events of the evening, even though I don't think anyone at the Inn really ever understood that I'd asked permission to socialize with other guests and to enter the kitchen area from a staff member only to be chastised. And as a guest you don't want to be in trouble when you checked and double checked... However, I do honestly believe that they got flustered on the night of "go to your rooms, guests" and they will improve with staff training and clarity all around. Also, I think what happened to me was I read the rave reviews on other websites so it built up the Inn to be this "out of this world" place and it probably wasn't a good fit for me or my expectations. Mostly it was a mixture of small things. The lack of cooked breakfast for example was a downer, I think a bed and breakfast place has to work hard to overcome a slightly poor impression if that is not provided. But my room was very nice, I liked it. A bath would have made it AWESOME but they just don't have baths there. Anyway giving an extra star to them and the best of luck to the Inn. I hope things work out. Go with the expectation that it is a very nice building, a good location but not exactly the kind of service and vibe you might be thinking. Keep an open mind. read more
