It genuinely saddens me to write this. As a former local who supported this hotel for weddings and past visits, I am appalled by management's complete lack of ethics. During a terminal family medical crisis, the front desk explicitly instructed us to cancel first and "work it out with the GM" for a refund. Relying entirely on their guidance, I canceled. Had they been upfront about a strict no-refund policy, I would have kept the active reservation so family could utilize the room. Instead, the moment the room was back in their inventory, the GM, Lynda, denied any resolution. To make matters worse, the GM emailed telling me to refrain from calling because her staff has "other responsibilities," even though I had only called a single time to seek clarity. Her own staff had explicitly prompted my mother to tell me to cancel while I was traveling home and unable to call myself. Dismissing customers for simply following her team's directives is a complete failure of customer service and a glaring reflection of her poor leadership. Because over a third of their 29 rooms sat vacant, the hotel suffered absolutely no financial loss from my cancellation. This was pure opportunism during an already difficult time. read more

We stayed at this hotel as part of a wedding block, where the bride and groom had reserved over 30 rooms at roughly $500 each -- so our group brought significant business to the property. Unfortunately, the experience didn't reflect that at all. The biggest issue started at check-in. The bride herself was left standing in the parking lot with all of her belongings because staff would not allow early check-in -- even by a small margin. One employee had told us 3:00 PM would be okay, but when we arrived, we were turned away and told to wait until exactly 4:00 PM. There was no flexibility or effort to accommodate the bride, even just to let her store her things inside, which felt pretty disappointing given the circumstances. Later that evening, the lack of understanding continued. The majority of guests at the hotel were there for the same wedding, yet staff enforced quiet hours at 10:00 PM very aggressively. A small group of us (about seven people) were simply sitting in a room listening to music at a reasonable level, and we were immediately warned that the police would be called if we didn't disperse. It felt excessive, especially considering nearly the entire hotel was part of the same event. Overall, while the property itself may be nice, the service and rigidity of the policies made the experience frustrating. A little flexibility and awareness -- especially for a large group event like a wedding -- would have gone a long way. read more

What can I say about this place. What a disaster. I rented out essentially the whole hotel in the offseason for my wedding. During that time the employees couldn't have been worse. For a place that is in the hospitality industry, it's unfathomable to think they can be some incompetent. The other half of our guests stayed at Nantasket Beach Resort. The Inn has always been my favorite in Scituate and the surrounding area. The management has changed. Last year I reserved a room for my nephew who was up in Massachusetts for the memorial of his father who died of Covid. We thought waking up to the spectacular views of the harbor would be the perfect healing balm as my brother loved sailing. It was. This year we planned to get together for the same Heritage Days weekend. He reserved the room himself. Unfortunately my husband had a sudden unexpected heart attack and passed on July 13. We tried valiantly to salvage our plans but needed to change them once we set the memorial dates. I felt responsible for the cancellation and went in to the Inn this past week to see if I could explain. The manager was not in all Labor Day weekend. I called four times. Today, Weds Sept 6, the fourth time, she was in. The staff had left her a message that said I would appreciate a call back. There was no call. I asked her to review her policy and please make an exception for my nephew. We obviously couldn't let them know with the required thirty days notice as he passed less than thirty days before our reservation. They could have refunded his money. Then, they would be receiving an excellent review right now. But they decided to be brusque, and defensive, and hostile. The owner strikes me as angry and in the wrong business. In any case they would not budge and so I am letting people know she never extended a "sorry for your loss", she never said "I wish we could but we just can't", and she was unkind. I ended up crying and she moved right on. I am not recommending anyone put themselves through this kind of treatment, and I will not spend my money at an unkind establishment. I worked there three summers as a chambermaid. She was not impressed. I grew up in this town. I know people she knows. I have worked in the service industry for forty years myself, which did not impress her. But most importantly, she went out of her way to be unkind. I am sorry to do this to anyone but I would NOT recommend going there until another more compassionate human being is in charge. read more

Not sure if this was racist, but when my black friend tried to check in here in the morning, a white woman said she didn't know how to check her in and told my friend to come back at 7am for someone else to check her in. My friend asked if she could have a muffin (it was morning, maybe 6:30?) and the woman said she couldn't have a muffin until she was checked in. Shortly after, another woman appeared and apologized saying that the first woman was new. I'm not sure why someone who's working the concierge desk would not know how to check a guest in...anyways, it seems questionable and we're not sure this establishment is welcoming for black people or people of color in general. Stayed here for one night and I wish I could have stayed longer. The place was clean and the bed was comfy. They had a descent indoor pool, wasn't heated but it was still nice. All the staff was friendly and always there if you needed something. Beautiful view from all of the rooms! I would recommend staying here and I would come back. read more

I stayed here with my children and we were woken up at 12 am by drunk people partying in the next room. I called the hotel front desk with no answer and then had to leave my kids in the room and walk down stairs to the lobby where I waited for the front desk women to appear ( now 12:30am). I asked to be reimbursed for my horrible night the next morning, spoke with the manager and the owner. The manager was shrewd from the moment I voiced my complaint, accusing me of having guests in the pool ( which I asked and the owner OK'd). She told me that the hotel had bent rules for me and they would not consider my request for a refund. The owner later complained to me in an email that one of my children took a muffin from the continental breakfast after swimming in the pool. The breakfast was included in our stay, but apparently the owner Linda rations kids portions. The manager and owner Linda have zero experience in hospitality or customer service. If you have an issue with your stay they will make you the problem. There are several reviews on google and yelp that are spot on about Linda. And it's comical to read her shrew responses. It's a perfect example of the hotel's lack of hospitality! read more

We've stayed here annually for years. Great location. This year was not a good experience. Our request to amend our original reservation from 8 nights to 6 (due to 2 covid related travel change issues) was denied. Zero flexibility to a NO CHANGES WITHIN 30 DAYS policy despite the pandemic. We hadn't even asked for a refund - just a credit towards a future stay but were flatly refused. So we ended up having to pay for 2 nights (plus service fee) for an empty room which we could not use. Housekeeping services were not provided unless you specifically requested them every day. By noon. And described in detail exactly what you wanted cleaned. Even with all that, we did not receive a fully cleaned/serviced room even once. Sometimes the floor hadn't been vacuumed. Sheets were left on the side table (were we supposed to change them?). The bathroom sink & glass table top were never touched. One day nothing was done at all. Inconsistent & annoying. One staff member is fabulous. Others not so much. I asked one for a bottle of water and the front desk person literally laughed in my face & informed me that although it wasn't her job she would give me one but would be making a note of it so that I inadvertently didn't get more than my allotted 1 . Another phoned our room 5x on our first night amidst accounting/credit card machine difficulties - the point being to ensure that the entire stay was charged in full upon arrival. It's an old and tired building. Creaky floors & poor sound proofing between rooms. Closed bar/restaurant. Old & unappealing indoor pool. Few amenities. But we loyally returned as we enjoyed the location & some of the long term staff over the years. Never again though. In retribution for having made these comments public, the manager has defensively accused me of slander, "uncalled for behavior" & cancelled my next reservation - ironically enough within the same 30 day window in which I was denied the option to do so myself. Oh well; I suppose all good things must come to an end. This is clearly not the place it once was, which is a shame for Scituate. read more

The floors are very thin and building is old. You can hear the people walking or doing any activity above you. It's not just a little noise from the guests walking, it's like they are in your ear. We did not sleep a wink. Thankfully Karen was extremely helpful and was able to move us to the 3rd floor on our final night. Please do not stay on the 2nd floor. read more

If you're visiting Scituate and need a place to stay, your options are pretty limited. There are a couple B&B's but the Inn is the only hotel in town. For me, it's a great option! The views are amazing, the staff is incredibly friendly and the rooms are fine. At $150-170/night, I'm not expecting The Ritz! I expect comfortable beds and clean rooms and they exceed my expectations. The Inn has been around for years but the new owners have done a great job with their updates. We try to visit for a few days each summer and every year, it's better than the last. A couple notes... - Love the deck overlooking the Harbor. Beautiful sunrises in the morning and a great place for a glass of wine in the evening - The continental breakfast is great. Fresh coffee, fruit, yogurt, pastries... - Wi-fi is available throughout the Inn which makes up for the terrible AT&T cell service. - The pool is an unexpected plus or they'll give you everything you need for a day at the beach - chairs, parking permit, towels.... If you're not from the area, check out Minot! - The location is awesome! You can walk to all the downtown shops! - Use your AAA card for a discount. An earlier reviewer mentioned an incident with a waitress in the pub... It's my impression that the pub (The Dogwatch) is a separate business. We stayed at the Inn in September - I hadn't been there since it was the Clipper Ship and I have to say it has been updated very nicely! I think the harbor really benefits from having such a lovely hotel right there. We walked to the lighthouse (my favorite place) each morning - just the perfect way to start the day. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful about what to do in town - what was open and closed due to Covid etc. read more

I recently stayed at the Inn for a private birthday party. I first want to say that the Inn is a beautiful place to stay. Close to everything and the view is beautiful. This is about one particular person Lynda. She was the rudest, nasty person i have ever met. I have never been spoken to like that ever. I know we did break some of the rules, but there is definately a better way to go about it, if she had been a little bit nicer about it , it would have had alot better results. Then to wake up in the morning with a letter under my door telling me i was rude! I did not receive a welcome guide with the room with the rules. At around midnight, the manager Lynda Ferguson, just walked in our room to tell us to be quiet & told us only 2 guest are allowed to stay in the room & if we didn't leave she's was going to call the police. So 1 of my friends & I had her leave in our pjs, she wouldn't even let us change into our cloths. She walked us to the door like we were children. She's was not friendly & she was rude from the time we got there & she just got worse through out the nite. Many other guests complained about her. She really should not be in the hospitality field - get another career!!! I would not stay at this Inn if you want to have a good time & enjoy herself. Find another hotel!! read more

This was a last minute choice for stay in between Hyatt Regency Cambridge and Lamb and Lion Inn Barnstable. We had planned on avoiding the coast because of all of the hurricanes, but the weather turned so nice, 85 degrees and sunny. This Inn had excellent reviews and lived up to all of them. They have no elevator and too many stairs are out, but the first floor rooms were wonderfully decorated, comfortable, and had great view of the harbor. They no longer run a pub because it was too disturbing for the guests. However, the pubs and restaurants are really close and everything is strolling distance. This is a quiet, small, and friendly place that allowed us to relax and recover from too many months of hard work and frantic schedules. read more

The views are amazing and the price is affordable. My only small complaint is the heat in our room was not on so it took a little while to heat up. Also the blankets for the winter could be a little warmer. We asked for more blankets from the front desk which helped. But definitely a great value. read more

I booked a room here just before it reopened so I wasn't sure what to expect since there are no reviews. It's a little pricey if on a budget, but compared to other places in summer towns with similar types of locations, it's about the same and there was no minimum night stay. The rooms aren't fancy; standard hotel decor, not renovated. However, everything was clean, the bed was comfortable with new bedding, a fridge and iPod alarm clock. The bathrooms are outdated, but they do give you Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. What you are really paying for is a picturesque view of Scituate Harbor and the location. It is right at the edge of the Harbor, so you can walk to the shops and restaurants. The beach is biking and driving distance depending on which one you want to go and they can lend you a beach parking pass at the front desk. I don't think any of the rooms have decks, but there is a common deck that also faces the harbor with pretty garden flowers. There is a patio area that looks like a good place to have a function. I was told in the past they had a restaurant there. There is a pool, but it wasn't open. The room charge also includes the gratuity, bottled waters, and a continental breakfast-nothing fancy there, but at least they had some fresh fruit and not just sugar pastry. It would be nice if they had one of those single serve coffee/espresso machines rather than the regular brewed coffee that is hard to keep fresh. The staff there were very friendly. When I came back in at 2 am (from a private party; there isn't any nightlife in Scituate that would ever keep you out until 2 am), I asked if it was possible to have an extra hour for checkout since it didn't seem like the hotel was booked. I had called and asked for a room block for my upcoming wedding. Kelly was super nice and told me absolutely. I got an email showing the details and how to have guests call to receive the room block discount code. One of my bridesmaids tried to call to book the room and they said they do not do room blocks and that they were booked up for this weekend in May 2023. I called and Linda (who was so very rude and unacceptable) - told me they never did a room block and there's another wedding party staying there that weekend. They said they don't ever do room blocks. Which is completely opposite of what they told me when I originally called. I even prepaid for the suite for myself and the groom. They are unprofessional and so unorganized. Especially when planning such an important day - a wedding! They could careless about the planning and organizing that goes into wedding preparations especially when I was guaranteeing them a night of full bookings - well over a year out. I would never do business here and I will especially defer all of my guests from staying here. Future brides need to stay clear especially if they are looking for room blocks that they all of a sudden do not do. I even had my save the dates printed with the wedding name and to call for the room block. Unacceptable and a terrible way to do business! read more

Great spot!! Very convenient location. Right in the center of town across from the harbor. Welcoming lobby with a nice small town feel. Not at all like a B&B but not like a chain hotel either. The people that work there are very friendly and accommodating. The corner room we got was huge with a comfy Cal King bed. There was nothing I would change about this place. One of the owners Karen mentioned that during the busy seasons which are spring through early fall the place books up pretty quick. We had stayed there last year for a mother /daughter weekend . We liked it because it was close to my son in Marshfield and the village so close. We made reservations a few months back for this past weekend 5/4 through 5/7 We arrived and went to the room so far everything was nice until we used the toilet It was not seated in the floor properly. We called the desk as we were on the road to visit my son. We explained the situation and the lady said she would have maintenance go and look at it would we be in room ? We said no we were out and did not know what tine we would be back . She said well he leaves at 3:00 we told her ok never mind do they possibly have a room we could swap . She said no . We left it at that . Once we returned we could feel that someone was in the room . Sure enough the toilet had been fixed or they tried We went down to desk and asked why would someone go into the room when we asked them not to She said they have every right to do so We understand that however we left the conversation as never mind we would deal with it ! As two woman having this happen we did not feel comfortable at all having someone possibly a male enter our room while we were not there !!! And then not even leave a notice that they had been in We tried to find another place that day to check into but couldn't ! We did end up leaving a day early ! And sad to say the toilet went right back to being wobbly and feeling as though it would crack while sitting For the price of the rooms and the appearance not too happy !! I stayed here recently, and the rooms are just ok. The carpeting is a little old and the decor is a little drab, but it was clean. I would probably give them an average two to three stars if I hadn't had such a horrible experience in the downstairs bar area. I witnessed the bartender humiliating the wait staff in front of customers, and the manager, "Linda", did nothing about the situation. They were understaffed that evening, and the young waitress was getting berated for what was clearly a poor management issue. It was really uncomfortable to watch the young girl being verbally abused, and honestly, it made me wish I hadn't spent any money supporting the people who so poorly manage this establishment. Stay here if you like being treated like trash. I checked in with my husband, mother in law, and 3 kids. I put everyone's name on the paperwork that asks who will be staying overnight, except my 8 month old baby (because usually under 2 they dont count) an hour later we got confronted by staff saying we had to book another room or leave because there were too many people. I had saved to take this vacation to celebrate my kids good grades and my husband's new job, so I asked them for a refund after 3 hours of being there since we couldn't get another room, and they denied it. The staff got very rude, even when Expedia called the front desk to ask them to give me a refund they were rude to them as well. The owner Linda was more worried about a bad review on Facebook than making it right and doing the right thing and giving me the refund. Never again would I stay there. The pool is in the basement and there's signs all over the windows saying not to open them so you can't even breath in there either! read more

The Scituate Inn is in a great location and as it appears on internet the only place in the Scituate area. Although I only needed one night the Scituate Inn will only book you for a 2 night stay. I was hesitant to spend the extra money but I was assured that they will do whatever is necessary to get me a nice room and I needed a place in Scituate. Upon check in and the final swipe of my credit card the hospitality ended. My room was downstairs next to their bar. It was very loud and I felt like I was in the bar itself. The walls and ceilings are so thin I could hear every foot step above me and voice around me. When I asked the front desk if there was any other rooms I was told very quickly "no!" and "that shouldn't be a room anyway". I then went back to my room to try to settle in with the TV to drown out some of the noise and of course the remote does not work and the cable box has no buttons. The next day I woke and getting ready for an important day I reached for the shower knob and gave it turn to seem like I triggered an electrical short. The Inn lost all electricity (not because of me). Shaving without light is not recommended! I then walked out to the lobby where the Inn provides continental breakfast, at least it's supposed to but couldn't because there was no power to brew the coffee. The next evening upon returning after a long day we pulled into the parking lot to find several cars waiting for a space. There was no parking at all. I walked inside to ask what I was supposed to do and was directed to go park at a pub a few blocks away. I guess there bar attracts a lot of locals and since they already had my money the bar patrons got the parking. I later called to speak with Linda the manager and as soon as she stated "Oh I was just in the middle of eating pizza" I knew this was already an inconvenience to her and would get me nowhere. Upon requesting some sort of compensation I quickly got "That's not going to happen!" and when asked for the owners name I got a response of "I am the owner ". I am a very passive person and for me to even get upset over this I can honestly tell you this is a 50 dollar a night Inn placed in a great town. From the response of "The Owner" it appears this is one of those places where people go to get wasted and wake to someone where they are not going to remember their stay anyway. I understand ownership and management has a very quick turnaround so good luck Linda and good luck Scituate Inn! read more

Extremely disappointing to stay to say the least. Rooms were not ready on time, front desk staff was unapologetic about this fact, and were even arrogant when we needed to simply change in the rooms we paid for well after we received our room keys. If you have any other local options, choose them first. It would be a struggle to find a more rude group of people in any business. read more

I booked three rooms at The Inn at Scituate Harbor for the night of my wedding online through Expedia. I called a day later to book one of the rooms for the night before my wedding as well. However, the manager told me that they could not accommodate that request, not because they were full, but because I would need to book the room for two more nights, not just one. So the three rooms I booked already don't carry any weight? They don't really care about your business, I would look somewhere else if I were you. read more

WOW! I must have been at the pub at the same time as Jac R! This is the first time I have written a negative review on Yelp....but it's warranted. The Inn itself is not the issue here. My husband and I stopped by for an early evening glass of wine to cap off a really nice day and witnessed a very sweet and competent young woman - the ONLY wait staff for the entire place from what we could see, and working her butt off with a cool, calm demeaner - get cut down and grossly disrespected by the 'bully' bartender (another woman, no less!) and consequently met with a complete lack of management response. It took all we had to stay out of things but we both mumbled under our breath that she should just up and walk out on the spot. The great kicker of it all? We think she just might have. Almost ruined my wedding! It has taken me a long time to right this because we debated it but the way my wife was treated over an accident.... ON HER WEDDING DAY.... Please beware, this place only cares about themselves and will go out of their way to even ruin what is suppose to be the best day of your life...
