Standard Irish Pub in downtown, with a friendly staff and basic menu. Didn't see shepherd's pie or bangers & mash, but they have good stuff like the various burgers, fish & chips, maybe a grilled chicken sandwich. Can't go wrong with a draft Guinness or domestic beer, and everything was priced fairly - lunch items $9 to $12 is solid value in this day and age. The only thing I would caution is that the lettuce had that chemically-washed taste you get sometimes, so this isn't really the best spot for a salad. But it is cozy, old school, fairly priced, so I would say go on in and feel at home. read more

Honestly, in an Irish pub, it's all about the comfort, service (and the fact that you can get a Black and Tan that's as big as your head!). The menu here is good fare for a pub. Just enough variety to keep you engaged while still being really home-style good. On Fridays, check out the Fish'n'Mac, where you can sub out the "chips" with the best mac and cheese in town. The friendly server team definitely keeps engaged with their guests. If you have a need, I think you won't have it for long here. read more

We tried this bar on a whim and so glad we did. Really great service. Properly poured Guinness. Surprised that they offered diet cherry coke. My husband had fish and chips which were delicious and inexpensive. I had the bacon blue cheese burger that was average. I would definitely go again. read more

Great downtown lunch spot where you're guaranteed to see someone or 5 from your office. service is typically top notch and the food is reasonably priced. I usually order the beef philly sandwich which never disappoints. I've made my way through pretty much every appetizer and there isn't one I wouldn't recommend. First, the wait was terrible. We waited about 15 minutes for someone to come up to us the get us our drinks. Another 15 for us to get our drinks and get our food ordered and about 30 minutes for us to get our food. Second, the food was absolutely terrible. I had high hopes for this pub and sadly the food didn't live up to them. My friends got the burgers and they were cheap and terrible. I had the Chicken tenders and French fries and the were cheap, soggy, and just not good. Last, after we got our food we were not helped at all. We wanted our checks as soon as the food hit our table and sadly we didn't get them until a half hour after because it took that long for someone to pass our table for us to call them over. Very busy downtown lunch spot. Came in today and ordered a Cobb salad. When it came it was in a bed of greens and had a good portion of vegetables. The only thing that makes me wonder is why does the kitchen put strawberries and blueberries on a Cobb salad? Decent salad for the price of being downtown Lansing. Beer was cold, food was good, service was good while they let us stay there. It was a Friday night and despite the fact that their schedule says they close at midnight we were told they were closed shortly before 10, two full hours before they were actually scheduled to closed. I get that downtown Lansing rolls up the sidewalks at quarter to 4 on Fridays but if y'all know you want to close at 10, put that on the door. Hadn't been to Kelly's in quite some time. I've always like the private atmosphere but forgot that it really isn't a sports bar. The service was good and the beer was cold and priced well though I went to watch college basketball and televisions were very hard to see while sitting at the bar. One needs to sit at a table and even then the bartender said that she didn't know how to change the channels. read more

We love Kelly's. It's right downtown, with plenty of parking. The sandwiches are fantastic, both delicious and cheap. Lynne has been our bartender and she is so sweet, she even recognized us after our third visit and made an effort to remember our names. We love the "regulars bar" feel here. read more

With so many great places in downtown Lansing, don't waste your time on this one. The place was not that busy when we arrived. We ordered, then the place started to fill up with the lunch rush. It took us an HOUR to get our food, even though obviously our order was put in before all the people who arrived after us. Since we were there on a lunch break from a conference at the Lansing Center, we ended up having to just get to-go boxes and take everything with us. The red flags were there- we had to wait a while for a hostess to notice us and seat us, even though the place wasn't busy yet; no one came to take our drink order for another 10 minutes or so, and a different person waited on us every time someone came to our table. The food was fine, once I finally got to eat it. Not worth waiting forever to eat standard bar food, though. read more

This was the regular happy hour spot for me and about six coworkers and I can't say enough about how kind and welcoming Lynn and Lenny are. They have a nice, broad food menu and excellent drink prices, and it's just a very comfortable place to relax for a few hours. Kelly's used to be my go-to after work spot in Downtown Lansing, and it's still a good place - but was better when it was at the corner of Allegan/Washington (especially with the great bartender Kevin, who has since left for his own business). Expect the usual tap selection (with an amazing $2 big Miller Lite special during happy hour) and better than average food. The chicken strips are phenomenal - well, not so much the strips, but the honey mustard they are served with. It's a secret Kelly's recipe and is not even available to go (I've tried to buy it). The chef who makes it won't even share the recipe with the owners - but it's damn good. I'd give the honey mustard 5 stars alone. I've heard the Friday fish special and the mac and cheese are good, but can't stay away from the chicken fingers as a honey mustard dipping vehicle. Don't miss it. (Also: Lynne - one of the owners - is one of the nicest servers in Lansing, and typically remembers your name and drink after only one or two visits. She's typically only there on weekdays, but is great. Tip her well!) read more

I'm pretty sure Kelly's serves microwaved meals, namely Stouffer's mac and cheese... but you'll hardly notice after two of their drinks. They serve their liquor hard, in my opinion. The service is pretty good, too. The scene is usually very quiet and casual, and I think there's a lot of room for improvement. But the bar is actually not half bad. Don't run out to purposely eat or drink at Kelly's, but don't whine if you're invited, either. It's totally do-able. read more

Kelly's is a downtown Lansing dining establishment. There isn't anything particularly "amazing" about the place, but I've always left feeling satisfied. I would describe the inside of the restaurant as cozy. It's an Irish pub, but doesn't overdo its Irishness. There's a bar in the center which gives it a "Cheersy" feel. Macaroni and cheese is the special on Fridays. Yum. Their chicken tenders are actually my personal favorite. They're covered in fish batter before being fried. I have mine served with wing sauce. I see others have commented on the cherry burger. The burger doesn't remotely taste like cherries. I wouldn't know they were even in the burger. The addition of the cherries makes the burger juicy and a bit healthier. I recommend it. They were supposed to be moving a few years ago, but don't know what ever happened to that plan. I don't live in Lansing anymore, but always try to visit Kelly's when I'm in town. read more

I used to go here ALL the time when my husband was in law school, like 11 years ago and I loved it. I ate meat there, and their chicken strips are to DIE for. Incredible. Went there last week for a lunch break during a class I was taking. Were seated right away, but, service was SUPER slow. Also, my friend's salad came out wrong, and it was difficult to get a check, a refill, anything. Had a tuna melt and fries, and the food was great. I think this experience may have been a fluke, since I adored Kelly's back in the day, but I will have to go back and see if they can improve on their service (which was friendly, but SLOW). To elaborate on what a "Cherry Burger" is - it's a beef burger with cherries instead of preservatives to cut the fat. That's what our waitress told us anyway, but we really didn't notice anything spectacular about it nor did I taste cherries in it so give it a shot but don't expect pie in your burger. The Downtown Club was again, nothing extraordinary at this downtown Irish looking pub which is probably hopping on St. Paddy's Day. They have an outdoor patio in addition to the small cozy restaurant centered by their bar. As the 2 stars indicate, I just felt 'meh' about the food. Do not order this. As disappointing as a nun ' s sex life. Plastic cheese, unseasoned meat, and the wilted tips of too-old green onions. Ya ya, the cherry burger. It's not actually all that rare, but it is good. I like the mac and cheese and the chicken strips with weird breading more. The atmosphere is also nice; the lighting is not too bright to be drinking but not too dark to be eating. Lovely Kelly's. Well, the food is not great. It's not bad but I wouldn't consider this a go to dining choice and certainly consider Kelly's more of a bar than a restaurant. However, the service is amazing! The owners are awesome people and they seem to have a steady staff who all know what they're doing. Beer prices are great and the huge tables make it an awesome spot for drinks with friends. Other reviewers are right, after a couple of visits they know who you are, what you want to drink, and where you like to sit! A really nice change from the usual Lansing/East Lansing establishments. If you're hopping between a bunch of bars downtown, Kelly's also has a consistently super clean bathroom! read more
